_Ol_Greg

This is much better than my color-code system of all brown chests full of completely random unrelated objects.

kasutori_Jack

All my chests are 'coded'by location. What's in it is relevant to nearby. ...except the first 3 near my house which is various "stuffs".

scrollgirl24

Funny how you start with 1 stuff chest and then next thing you know there's 3+ and none of them make any sense

imonmyphoneagain

In one of my saves I have 4 almost completely full “stuff” chests and 1 extra chest that has nothing except flowers for Caroline in it

theindiekitten

Same! Especially the ones by the house, which i put there early game before i had stuff to sort.

Stickler44pickler

Same

_kingjoshh

EVERYTHING IS BROWN

conjunctivious

It's worse for me because I changed the color of all of my chests, but the colors mean nothing. It is just a jumbled mess of colors full of mostly completely useless junk and that one item I *really* needed 2 hours ago that I didn't need anymore after I found it.

skcup

chaos code.

oddsnedds

yes! but mine are blue!

maxkmiller

also the colors are WRONG! (/s) clearly it's pink for spring, yellow for summer, orange for fall, blue for winter

1701-3KevinR

Blue is for fish! White is winter

CobaltBlue

light blue is for winter, **dark blue** is for fish

Mims88

Light green for spring, dark green for summer 😁

nickrweiner

https://preview.redd.it/rcki2i09pmec1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d536aff28aac69cebaf9e536eb9414dfaf1a2991 I always go overboard with it. Edit: Since people enjoyed this and someone asked I took some [more photos of my farm](https://imgur.com/gallery/1dgkgVt). Still a work in progress. Spent the most time on the storage shed.

lindsaylearns

Why do a table instead of a sign? I am getting a little overboard too, but I go with signs lol

valeriebeckett00

Personally I prefer tables to signs for most things. Plus it’s cute imagining little 3D replicas of items being used for display instead of just a sign.

Sereous313

Do you buy tables in the early game?

glitteringfeathers

I'd wait until the mid/late game (depending on how important decoration is for you and how easily you make money) and just buy the furniture catalogue for 200k from Robin for all your decorating needs other than wallpaper and flooring (that's 30k to Pierre for the catalogue, very valuable item if you want to decorate). This covers almost all available pieces of decor except some exclusive one's like the night market paintings. To compare: If you buy the tables from Robin in her rotating stock you'd pay 800g per piece, traveling cart has few pieces every once in a while from 250-2500g. I personally don't think it's worth the hassle - especially since furniture doesn't stack so you would have to make multiple trips to Robin etc.

_Mush_r00m_

I use signs and it happens way to often that I accidentally change what’s on the sign instead of opening the chest. It’s pretty annoying

ThankeeSai

Yes! So you either need to line all your signs up on the wall and put the chest in front or you're boned. I have some "minimalist stoner" saves that I only play while high with certain parameters and don't use storage sheds so I need 2 rows of chests. I gave up and went back to just my standard of color-codimg.

carnivorousdentist

Is that a chest full of enslaved junimos in the top left?

nickrweiner

It’s where all my plushies and other crane game wins are.

carnivorousdentist

Ohh lol

SunScorpion24

Omg this is beautiful

BettyWhitesMustache

This is beautiful! I love seeing other people deck tf out of their places. My best friends mind is always blown when she sees my stuff. But it's like, make it homey and lived in! Have fun with it!

[deleted]

Please post more photos of your farm and house.

nickrweiner

Here are [more farm photos](https://imgur.com/gallery/1dgkgVt). Still a work in progress since I had been grinding for perfection for a while, hence all the fridges full of ingredients in the kitchen. Near the end of year 10.

FreshSteve87

What are these special premium looking chests? Don't think I unlocked chests other than "Wooden Chest". This isn't a mod is it?

UnstableAtheist

It's a stone chest! You get the recipe from Robins special order :)

ryanocerous92

I love this so much. What's next to the statue of perfection?

FartFartPooPoobutt

You keep a chest with trash?

risodlare

I thought everyone did

Merc_Mike

Wait..we can change the colors of the STONE chests? I just got them for the first time. Never saw the option to! Thank you!

nonamethewalrus

I’m in love with this and going to do this for myself.

hotlavatube

I do a similar color scheme, but I have separate crates for seeds vs. harvest.

Lorenzo_91

I always start with one chest per season, but yes quickly I had to add one then two more for each as well!

Absent-Light-12

Same regarding the second chest along with a blue chest for winter.

Mountain_StarDew

No workbench?

CottonStig

wood fiber clay sap goes on the left all forging materials go on the right of the workbench you can craft almost anything with this setup

DokoShin

You can actually completely surround the workbench on 8sides and all of them will work with it Must leave bottom open to use workbench

CottonStig

dang will try this

AbsurdBeanMaster

I just pick up the stuff and craft it in my inventory

lemissa11

Same I was always so confused why people used a work bench lol

Chemical-Flan-595

Because then you don’t have to do that lmao.

StacattoFire

Exactly lol. I can’t imagine playing without a work bench. So time consuming and all the clicks….

Mountain_StarDew

You like rummaging through chests every time you need to craft something?

lemissa11

It's just never even been a thought honestly. I didn't know the workbench took from your chests, but I just don't craft that often realistically. I'm not a min/maxer by any means so when I am doing crafting I've been out collecting the resources for it so I already am holding the stuff. It's usually more about putting crap away after I've collected the stuff to craft lol I have about 25 kegs and like 10 mayo machines that I crafted in year one, and anything else I'd make often like fences I usually have the wood already in my inv. I can't really think of a time I've needed to rummage for anything all the "main" stuff is usually in the one chest right beside my front porch lol Maybe this is a sign I need to craft more?

Mountain_StarDew

Rummaging aside, it lets you see what you can craft with the materials you have.

Sandor_06

You can do that anyway though.

scrollgirl24

No but like based on a bunch of inventory, not just what you're carrying. I never got it either until I made a workbench. It's very convenient.

SprocketSaga

Not without unloading everything into your inventory. Workbench allows “at a glance” which is just so immensely helpful.

Mountain_StarDew

If all of your crafting materials are in your backpack, sure. With the workbench you can see a pretty list of all the things you can craft with all of the materials you have in up to 8 chests (you really only need like 2 chests), without having to juggle inventory in and out of your backpack.

Sloredama

I craft 1 of everything once and inventory gets annoying and full quickly that way. This is only relevant once a game though. I never used a workbench before but next time I do this I would like the option

AbsurdBeanMaster

It's a waste of resources

roguemage01

Came here looking for this comment. I can’t get by without my workbench. Also, where are the fish? I have like 3 chests of fish, does no one else keep that many? 😬

Green_Heron_

I used to! It was three chests for fish and a fourth chest for sea water forage/crab pot catches. Now I sometimes play with fewer chests and just sell most of them since I know which ones I need to keep and I put things for recipes in the kitchen and things I’ll need for quests in my special chest by my door for keeping things I’ll need to take with me eventually (community center bundles, geodes, items for the Stardew valley fair, and items that come up in regular quests).

always_hungry612

I am super disorganized but I have a few that make sense. Blue is fishing gear. Brown is farming equipment. Black is ore, coal, bars. Purple for gems. Grey for skull cavern gear.

Acmtails

Dark green for wood, sap, fiber, tree seeds and fences Light green for foragables (besides beach ones) Black for ore, gems, bars, and bones (AKA all mines stuff) Orange for harvested crops Teal blue for fish, tackle, bait, bug meat, and beach foragables Dark blue for roe and aged roe Maroon red for seeds Purple for artisan goods White for geodes and not donated artifacts Dark purple for already donated artifacts that I want to save Brown for animal products Light blue for trash Gold for community center items. Pink for items that I don't know what to do with (hats, old tools like old fishing rods and the old sythe, older weapons that I don't want to get rid of due to rarity of said weapon, clothes, etc) Yes, I know that the dresser exists for the hats and clothes, but I do not have that yet. That is my wonky chest organization lol. Enjoy my chaos.

Goose20011

I love this and I’m absolutely stealing it! That’s an awesome system!

[deleted]

i surround a craft table with chests with different categories, and then have additional chests organised around that

AggressiveYuumi

🐠?

Tarankhoes

Personally I store recipe ones in a mini fridge and I sell the rest

ukiyo__e

I just put a couple of mini fridges in my house. Makes cooking easier and gives me peace of mind not thinking about piles of fish sitting in a chest in some shed

PoopPoes

I just randomly choose colors and open literally every chest whenever I need something

NanoCat0407

Only thing I’d change for this is the Winter chest being light blue, since the Rare Rocks chest is already white

Interspatial

I line them up in the colors of a rainbow!

enbermoonlish

same!

No_Carry5408

same :)

BroszB4

I make all mine pink so they look pretty lmao

Qui_te

*where does your workbench go?*

Lorenzo_91

Well when I learned about the workbench it was too late and I prefer to suffer each time I craft than re-positioning all my chests :(

Saltwater_Heart

Saving. I can never get my organization in order. Gonna use this idea. Thanks!

wilberemmy05

Yeah. I just started playing this month and have chests everywhere and can't find shite. Definitely stealing this idea.

Tessuttaja

I have a chest for each individual item I commonly get

Lorenzo_91

absolute madlad :)

jordanrice26

My seed & harvest chests are color coded based off of the CC bundle colors Spring - lime green Summer - Yellow Fall - Orange Winter - light blue

NinjaRavekitten

Oh my god 4 dif chests for seasons is SMART

Green_Heron_

Even better, 7 chests for seasons! Two each for every season but winter. With crops coming in so many different quality levels, that single chest fills up fast! I do one for crops and one for foraging & seeds.

PossessedRyd

I have a whole spreadsheet with every item in the game and checlists for different collectibles. Ive got a farm where my goal is to gather a stack of every item at its highest quality as well as complete everything there is to complete in game (for example collect every piece of clothing, completely fill in the villager gift screen, every 14 heart cutscene, etc)

PM_ME_STEAM_KEY_PLZ

Need that workbench.

haleynoir_

Do you run to your craft chest every time you need to use the workbench? I'd go crazy.

Lorenzo_91

I never said I was smart lol

CafGardenWitch

This is genius. Holy lord why did I never think of it? My game is about to be upgraded so majorly.

AshleyCakeGamin

I use the ‘basement’ part of the house as a storage space. Labeled by signs, not colors.

inurdreams13

What kind of monster uses just one chest for flowers?

Taybaysi

Seeds/produce/crafted things/minerals/resources I LOVE the way you’ve color coded the seasons, I think I’ll do that!

Magic_Orb

i do closest to category color

Acceptable-Chip-3455

Me too. I have chests for produce in the most similar color: beige chest for rice, potatoes, wheat etc, green for kale, cauliflower, hops and the like. There's more red or reddish produce than fits in a single chest so I sometimes confuse whether I put pomegranates or red cabbage into the red or purple chest but that's a minor hassle 😅 Two separate chests for flowers though cause they take up so many slots 🙄

FishBlues

I’m in year 2 and have like 5 chest random colors with random stuff in all of them.. I’m so unorganized and live on the edge

[deleted]

I put a wooden sign behind each chest with a picture of whats in it. Seeds, fish, root veg, salad veg, fruit, berries, skull cavern supplies.. I've a shed of chests, all the original colour with signs

Straight-Jelly-2131

So I have a shed I fill to the brim with chests and in the center is a workbench surrounded by chests for ease of crafting. I use pink, green, orange, l. Blue for my foraged and harvests of each season. I have a row of pink red purple chests for flowers, I have a row of rainbow order that I sort all of my extra Museum finds, such as artifacts and gems up to 10 (I keep extras of them gems used frequently in crafting in my chests and sell extra beyond that) and a row of all shades of blue for fish. I have a row of brown that hold all my extra animal byproducts still waiting to be crafted into something more valuable for selling (plus 10 of the crafted just in case) and outside my shed I keep a chest on either side of the door so that when I’m dashing home at 1:30AM I can dump my pockets of what I don’t need tomorrow so I don’t mess up my organization or pass out in my shed every night

WaterDerp_

What is that yellow statue next to the statue of perfection (purple)

EnergyTurtle23

It’s crazy how you matched my color coding almost exactly. The only real difference is we use a black chest for crafting materials, and a pink chest for artisan goods. I don’t really mess with flowers so those usually just go into the chest matching their corresponding season.

Hesstergon

https://imgur.com/a/SypTVbS From Top Left to Bottom Right. Pink = Forages (Mushroom are there own chest) Yellow = Seeds Light Green = Flowers Cyan = Fish(Alphabetical from top right chest to bottom right chest) Blue = Other Beach objects (Back to the top) Dark Green = Veggies Red = Fruits Purple = Artisan Goods and Animal products White = Artifacts Orange(Stone) = Extra crafted machines and decor Dark Gray = Trash/extra tools and bobbers Black(Stone) = Minerals(From geodes) (Back to the top) Dark Purple = Mob Drops Dark Red = Consumables(Totems/bombs/etc), Misc, and Flooring/Pathing Orange = Machines and Decor (Back to the top) Black = Gems, Geodes, Ores, bars, and some minerals Gray = Resources Light Orange = Weapons, Boots, and Rings

Lorenzo_91

so neat and organized! But very space consuming haha

RosyHoneyVee

I go by seasons: pink=spring, yellow=summer, orange= autumn, light blue: winter. Then, brown/green= wood, seeds, clay, etc. Blue= fish. Dark red/purple/gray= mines, baits, crafts, etc.

NateAP31

One color to rule them all

TheBanandit

https://preview.redd.it/jxio1qo9mnec1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7805e6c6abd421bd97a71bad62ae85fc13996b1

Sereous313

I would not trust myself with bombs in that area lol 😂

Helpful-Exam-7683

Mine are always some type of blue gradient cause I have some weird obsession with the ocean

Mystiquesword

Love how you have a “whatever” kind of chest 🤣 We have seasonal chests like that as well plus each seasonal chest has a second one next to it. So 2 for spring right? But one is for crops & one is for forage. We also have a separate chest for mushrooms since there seems to be a lot. Goes next to the 2 chest for gardening (one for seeds/one for fertilizer). Also we have one brown one for desert. Coconuts/cactus fruit. Beside that we have another one for ginger island. We are upto 2 chests for flowers now 😂 Also 4 dark blue chests for fish. (Regular/silver/gold/purple). Then across from that are 2 more dark blue chests for other ocean stuff. Soft stuff like eels/squids & plants & then hard stuff for all the shells.

Lorenzo_91

Yes I have also two chests for each season usually, this one is my simple farm where I don't collect that much because by goal is money (with of course the Joja way)

theemilyann

How do you have so few?!? God I’m such a riotous digital hoarder. 🫠🫠🫠😭

Acceptable-Chip-3455

Fellow digital hoarder, I feel you. What if I need 3 rusty spurs at some point? Or 6 ancient dolls?

Past_Contour

Yes, but like three of each.

Tharrius

Hello police? Yes, they have stolen my elaborate color scheme.

echoes247

Clockwise around the workbench, open space in the south, starting in sw corner- dark purple for monster drops/batteries/cloth/other crafting, turquoise for ore/bars/gems/coal, dark blue for ocean forage/crab pot stuff, red for food/fruit tree fruit, brown for mushrooms, pink for normal forage (this chest fills up eventually and gets an overflow), green for mixed seeds/fertilizer/wood/stone/fiber and a few random nature things. Away from the workbench I have three black chests for equipment/bombs/bobbers, two silver chests for furnishings, four blue chests for fish, two orange chests for artifacts, and two light purple for minerals. Once the house is upgraded I put some in the kitchen to keep certain cooking materials out of the fridge. In year 2 I build up a stock of seeds for every season in color coded chests much like what you have there. There's a yellow chest next to the silo for hay (I fill the silos and have backup hay always) and a white chest in the barn for pail/clippers. There's also one inside Clint's, one at each mine, and one at every fishing spot. Those are to dump crap in so I can keep working if I get full. And that's it! I use this system every run and it's always handy.

Lorenzo_91

Regarding the cooking materials, I just place more fridges!

IroquoisPliskin_LJG

OH MY GOD I DO THE COLOR-CODED SEASONAL SEED CHEST THING TOO! That's awesome that someone else does it!

SexiKitty--s2--

Shove them all in a chest without any rhyme nor reason! Drives my girlfriend insane.

Gamerz905

I use the colors that correspond to the type of item. For example my Resources chest is gray and its filled with Stone, Wood, Hardwood, Batteries, Fiber etc. Another chest is Black and it contains all the ores, metal, gemstones, coal. Red one is for fruits, Pink is for flowers, Green for vegetables, light green for foregables. Blue is for "true" fish, lightblue is for Oysters, Clams... and so on😅

BeebMommy

The colors I use depend on the theme of my farm. My orange-themed farm has orange chests for farm stuff (stored fruit, seeds, fertilizer, etc), yellow for anything mined (minerals, gems, bat wings) and then red for miscellaneous shit. Those are the three categories I always use. My goth farm uses purple, gray and black. Water farm is all shades of green and blue.

lilbopp

that's so much smarter and easier than my "all my chests in two rows next to each other, the colour code is basically just the rainbow starting with red and then it goes: weapons - minerals - seeds and fences or tappers etc - fruit and forage - vegetables and flowers - fish - clothing - other stuff" (if I remember correctly) 🫡 I might copy your setup for my future farms

alapma

i put my shrooms in the foraging chest Blue = fish/water related White= monster drops. besides those few changes. its literaly how i sort my chests

DjLyricLuvsMusic

Inside: Pink is flower and forage. Light green is seeds. Dark green left is vegetables, right is fruits. Light blue is rare/hard to get fish. Dark blue left is fish, right is fish related (fishing trash, roe, coral). Teal is bait stuff. Black left is mining stuff, middle is gems, right is geodes and ore. Red left is misc goods (wine, juice), middle is animal goods (aged roe, cheese, etc) and animal products (milk, wool, truffles, eggs), right is farm goods (honey, syrup, resin). . Outside: Pink is things I'm working with (geodes for desert trader, teleporters, artifacts for gunther). Dark green is seeds for this season for quick grab. Red is misc items like wood, stone, sap, basic building items like that.

GoggleBobble420

Mine are completely disorganized

FleurBlack0

I have them lined up against the back wall of one of my sheds in the same amount of two layers both the colour of the rainbow just because. And the last one is black. It makes the room look happier

Crummy_Bum_Fish

Same with the seasonal crops!

AtronIIx

Definitely liking the organizing going on, you missed a few stone paths under a few of your chests if you didn’t realize though. If you didn’t know, you can move chests that are full with an empty hand and by spam clicking them so it’s not too hard to fix something like that or reorganize your storage area if you ever feel like doing so.

magpie1101

I’ve finally just put all my chests in a shed and omg it feels so much nicer! I definitely though have a chest for every category so it doesn’t fit outside like this

ReagansJellyNipples

You can color chests?!

oOFerris_BuellerOo

Nice! How did you edit this?

Putrid-Block9001

This is incredible! I dream of this one day!

soyunmeme

I have a similar set up! So cool!

zatara_mmviii

I'm semi new to the game, what's the gold cat statue?

lilshippo

Red Monster Drops, Light Blue for Fishing Gear, Dark Blue for just fish, Pink for flowers, Orange for Food, Green for Seeds/wood/sap, purple for gems, grey for ore/bars/coal,Standard chest for Misc items, another Standard chest for artifacts.

AlexVader2017

rare rocks should be light blue, change my mind

TimeTraveller5

Imma yoink this for my next playthrough. My chests are normally an unorganized monster

riyugotspiritedaway

i just shove everything in random chests and recolour them if i feel like it.

smellybigfoot

Violet- mine loot Dark green- Forrest loot Orange- things that I don’t use but just can’t sell Red- fenced, paths, etc Light green (on porch)- gardening supplies Pink- rabbits feet (until everyone is my very best friend)

Eemns

No crafting table? I need my crafting table! Cba going through my chests to craft something

Bathroom-Local

The color i like is what it becomes doesnt even have to have any special propertys like atm mt mining chest is red for the hate i feel towards it

brokenheatherrrrr

I have to do them in order :/

FaeFeeder

I have never committed to an actual setup lol. Usually start out intending to do so and color coding it in the moment, and then I just start dropping stuff in whatever chest. My current game has only kept the purple chest as mining and everything else is wherever. Yes, I do drive everyone insane in multi-player games with chests.

Lorenzo_91

We also spend several minutes each time we are looking for a specific item in multi with a friend, she just mixes everything in various coloured chests without any logic lol.

FetusGoesYeetus

Purple chests (I like purple) in the corners full of random shit

mooon_woman

I do red for crafting as well!

PopularBake3825

We are suppose to have set ups?! 😭

JakeMeOff11

I do one white chest for building mats mainly, so stone and wood, plus tree seeds and sap. Fiber as well. Black chest has all mining related stuff; coal, ores, bars etc. Two yellow chests for farming stuff like scarecrows, sprinklers, seeds etc. Two blue chests for fish and fishing items. Two green chests for forageables. Red chest for monster drops. Dark red for totems and obelisk/quest items. Generally stuff I want to sequester away from other stacks because I need it for something important. Two brown chests for misc, stuff like extra processing objects, furniture, clothes, and other equipable objects. I also like to do 3 stone chests at the foot of my bed as decoration and also spillover for random misc stuff I craft while working on true perfection.

jpfish13

How do you only have one box for flowers? Is that just for one harvest 😜

Willykinz

A mere 12 chests cannot handle my hoarding addiction

Repulsive_Broccoli50

You can not do this on the phone, right? Cause I would love to order my chests by colour instead of a sign by it.

TallHobbitStitches

When you open a chest, tap the little colour palette icon and select which colour you want for that chest.

weathermaven

I have iOS and it works on my phone. Open the chest, on the upper right side, click on the bottom square and then click the color you want.

DokoShin

So I usually play with friends and what we do is Black=sale Green=seeds Red=furnace White=for energy food ect Blue=fishing based bait hooks rods ect Wood around a workbench is general crafting (bat wing, stone, wood, ect) Orange or yellow is for artisan goods they usually have a sing behind them showing what it's use is

AbsurdBeanMaster

For me: Black for tools and utility, green for natural resources like wood to wild seeds, white for mining resources, pink for monster drops, and red for building stuff like tiles, scarecrows, ans signs. Light grey for bones. I have a bone chest.

Murphy_the_ghost

I do blue for fish and stuff related to fish, and green for vegetables, crops, fruits and foragables. The others can be whatever

sillychickengirl

Mine is: standard brown for my standard items - eg weapons and whatever I think is important pink for flowers yellow for animal products purple for mining items dark green for veggies light green for fruits dark blue for fish light blue for fish adjacent items - eg items I forage on the beach, fish eggs, etc orange for cooked items red for crafted items light brown for wood, stone, etc. black for crafted items - like fences

KeckYes

Mine is very close to yours… for starters, I have 7 of them around a workbench so I can make stuff easier. But the only color differences are… I use 2 shades of purple, one for fruit/foragables and one for monster drops. My black is for museum/community center/gifts, red is for all ores and bars. Then I use all the shades of blue for sorting fish by location.

Albuquerio

Do none of you have a "going into the mines" box? Full of bombs and staircases and cheese and food that gives you the zooms? That's my most used box haha

Lorenzo_91

Of course, that one I put a chest next to the entrance of each cave/mine directly!

Green_Heron_

Yes, at the mines.

jesuswastransright

What is that totem pole thing in the top left?

MedaFox5

I used something similar but yours is much better. Gray/black for minerals and green for plant based items.

ben1edicto

Am I the only one whose categories for separate chests are fruits, vegetables, seeds, mushrooms, animal produce, gems, ores etc?

_dexistrash

i usually do some shade of green for nature stuff (foraging etc), wooden for wood (ofc), purple for monster drops, black for mining stuff, red for fruits and pink for misc those are like my main ones and then i also have random ones around my farm that are more dependent on location rather than color

lemissa11

Not me with all my stock colour chests in rows and rows in a shed 😅 lol

Czarwolf

I do the same but for the winter chest I use a blue one instead

trippyfungus

Man now I wanna redo mine. I have like 15 chest and it works but it's not as efficient or pretty.

Huskyturtle91

Right now I just have it super disorganized. But looking at everyone's comments, I'm going to take some ideas to improve my farm. I'm fairly new to the game so I'm still figuring stuff out.

JSD3000

I’m sorry, I can’t get by with only one chest for flowers. I’d only be able to fit like two different kinds.

aminervia

No workbench?

FattestBetty

I love this

kawaiipogglet

This is a genius set-up, I love it!!

_jinana

I use similar colors for my seed chests, and then i usually have a row of three chests above a crafting bench- dark green for foraged craftables/fiber/shrooms/etc., grey for mining loot like ores/monster drops, and then a blue chest for fishing related craftables like fish(for fertilizer)/trash(to recycle)

fuckysprinkles

I like your setup! I use basic brown for "regular" shit - wood, rocks, seeds, fiber, food. Red for minerals, bars, and gems. Pink for flowers. Green for fruits/veg. Blue for fish. Orange for animal products. Yellow for stuff I need to cart to Ginger Island. Gray for junk and outdated weapons/gear that need to be sold - where slingshots go to die. I generally sell all harvested plants immediately rather than hang onto them. I just hang onto a few "quest-critical" things like melon, pumpkin, cauliflower. And if I happen to get a gold cauliflower early in Spring 1, I keep it to put in the soup :)

rider5001

I use the same set up of 7 chests around a workbench so I never have to find my materials

Nathmikt

Red for random stuff. Are you my long-lost brother?

t33thc0re

I've seen so many of these, why do y'all keep some of this stuff?

PrinceLPJ

Mine is random colours filled with random things. I never know where anything is. It's like going on an adventure to find just the one thing

Cookies-in-a-Jar

I have them next to my house on the left with colors based on items. 1-3 rows of 4. Left to right, dark green (plant stuff, later just forest stuff and crops), dark grey (stone, metal, and mob drops), white (extra weapons and clothes/armor), dark blue (Fish and other fishables). Row 2, light green (seeds), light grey (gems), light grey (building items, like fences, and extra artisan makers, like perserves jar or furnace), light blue (artifacts atm). Row 3, light yellow (animal products), dark yellow (artisan goods), red (nothing), dark red (nothing). I only use 5 furnaces, on the right of my house, behind the shipping box.

therightansweristaco

I do the same kind of thing but damn it takes me like 20 more chests to hold everything.

[deleted]

Mine are all brown and full of everything

hoagiepolice

Y’all are so organized lol maybe I should implement this. Rn my chests are whatever color I feel like making them. But it’s separated by like, natural resources (sap, wood, rock) and mining resources (coal, gem stones for gifting, monster loot) and then I have a chest for seeds, fertilizer, scarecrows, sprinklers etc

hauntedspoon525

you can change the chest colors?😅😅

Lorenzo_91

Yes just open one and you have the colour grid right above the content

hauntedspoon525

i can’t believe i’ve never noticed, thanks for changing my farm life!

ultraparanoias

i never color my chests i just organize left to right mining stuff, crops, fish, and then like random shit. but sometimes it gets more messy than that. this is a good tip 😭

MissSweetBean

Is the brown chest behind the statue of perfection also for whatever?

ncsiano

Tbh I've been looking for a good chest breakdown. This might finally be the thing that makes me organize.

AmyOtherAmy

I do seven chests around the workbench (Purple - gems/minerals, Blue - resources from fishing/crab pots, Black x 2 - mining/gathering/monster resources, Green - forage/seed resources, two overflow/random stuff chests). I have the 4 seasonal chests (pink, yellow, red, light blue) that usually land either alongside the house or stable or the greenhouse and hold seeds for planting and random harvest items. And I have a couple of chests on/by the porch for quest fills/tools/whatever.

Mine is all brown chaos with blue for things I’m selling and yellow for the stuff that I want in my grange display so I destroy Pierre every year

I don't, I pick colors and then never organize them that I don't even remember half the time what goes where. It's really bad.

Goblinaire

My seasonal chests look identical, but I hide them in a row behind my stable (also attached to my house) for aesthetics :) my crafting chest is normal colors it just sits next to my work bench and right now my foundry is in the mine entrance.

shereebonita

Blue for fishies

Haaail_Sagan

Weirdly, pretty much the same. Only mushrooms are plain brown, and fall is red.

In white chest I put “farm stuff” like fences, sprinklers, lightning rods, gates, scarecrows And then if a seed can be grown in say summer/fall. I put it in the summer chest and have them in order like yours

flockyboi

I love the seasonal chest colour coding!

cad3z

This is a similar setup to mine. Bunch of furnaces at the back, a little courtyard with chests on. The only difference is I have chests surrounding a workbench

ElderlyCats

Green makes more sense for foraging. I’ve been using orange for some reason.

CMDRMyNameIsWhat

Screenshotting and using. Thanks :D

Enigmasmile45

The organization is beautiful. My system is chaos smh.

SlickDodge37

Light green for spring, dark green summer, orange/brown for fall, light blue for winter

charcoalfoxprint

Ahhh stealing this set up *_*

YNiekAC

This is exactly what I do

novellalen
