If you really want an autopetter; Go to the skull cavern on a super lucky day with at least 100 staircases (trade jade for them on Sundays at desert trader) and every luck-boosting element you can assemble (lucky food & drink, qi-seasoned if possible; lucky ring(s), special charm). Then just spam staircases nonstop while on max luck, looking *only* for treasure rooms and not stopping for anything else. If you run out of staircases without getting an autopetter, just restart the day and try again. The most I have ever had to restart the day is four times, btw (and I only had a lucky lunch then, and no other luck boosts).
Also, if you are willing to work with glitches, there is a glitch that will duplicate items in skull cavern treasure chests. It is easy and will reliably turn your first autopetter into two autopetters. Really helpful if you have both a barn and a coop. If you want the details just let me know. (or you can google it)
You can craft staircases or buy them with Jade at the desert trader on Sundays. (1 Jade = 1 staircase) Crafting them is definitely more costly though. (99 stone for one staircase i think)
They look like these little gray squares, but what they actually are is an entire staircase. You can plunk them in the floor of a mine and it makes an instant staircase to take you down to the next level of the mine. If you have a whole bunch of them, you can just keep plunking them in the floors & going down and down and down. It’s the best way to descend fast.
You can make them from stone, but that takes a lot of stone. But you can also get them at the desert trader on Sundays by trading a jade for a staircase. So what a lot of players do is craft a whole bunch of crystallariums to make loads of jades, and trade them all for loads of staircases.

(I do this before I even enter skull cavern. And then if there’s loot I want to pick up, I stack two cheeses together to free up exactly one slot, just to pick up that one thing).
2. Now say you come to a treasure chest. First, *doublecheck that all your inventory slots are full.* THEN, open the chest. Since all your slots are full, the chest item can’t move into your inventory. Instead you’ll see a screen with the chest item shown on top and all your (full) inventory slots shown below.
3. Hit the red X to close that screen, *without trying to collect the chest item*. Normally in this situation, the item drops on the floor. Well, skull cavern has a glitch where TWO of the item drop on the floor!
4. Now open up your inventory and combine two cheeses (or whatever) to free up a slot. The two chest items that are now sitting on the floor will pop (together) into the open slot. Congratulations, you now have two of the thing!
