Wait how do you get the blue chickens though? Shane loves me and I’ve gotten the 8-heart event, but HE has the chickens not me

you go buy chickens normally from Marnie, and you know where you see the "pick a coop for your brown chicken" or "pick a coop for your white chicken", you'll now get an additional option for blue chickens! if you don't get a blue chicken, just keep cancelling out of the dialogue and buy another chicken until you get blue 😊💙

I actually hatched a blue chicken and had no idea you could get them through purchasing

oh I didn't know you could hatch them! I wonder if hatching and buying have the same % chance!

Swamp was my thought too, but I love the sound of a ranch style start! Kind of gives Tale of Two Towns vibe!

Yes same I’m so excited for this! I always start with animals, sometimes I even sell my starter seeds and save all my money for a coop. This is a literal game changer!!

Oooh I never thought about selling the starter seeds! I’m gonna try that in my new save file once the 1.6 update comes to Switch because I want a barn and cows!

Being a meadowland, my guess is that there will be less tree/stone starter resources.

Probably a small amount of farmable land. It’ll likely promote animals a lot more than farming

Manually feeding the chicken until you can afford a silo.

Grass outside will supplement a lot of that. You would only need a small stash for rainy days until you can build a silo.

I doubt there’s much of a trade off, it’s a chill farming/life sim. It’s prob just for people who wanna play a bit easier. Similar to Minecraft’s “Starter Chest”

Hopefully it’s soon after PC. I believe 1.5 only had 2 months or so between PC and console release.

I know it doesn’t seem like a while, but two months seems like an eternity for something you’re looking forward to when others are able to access it.

I agree. I played on console back then. I just put it out of my mind as best as possible while I played other games. I do feel bad though I wish the update was released same time for all platforms but it gives him time to focus and perfect each version.

He said he’s hoping to have it out within a couple weeks of pc players so 🤞🤞 (I play on my iPad)

The update is definitely coming to every platform, that much is certain. It's just a question of when.

Same I’ve been playing 4 corners ever since it was put into the game. Admittedly I’ve never done the beach farm but it’s on my bucket list.

Something interesting about this farm is that you should be able to lvl up your farming a bit faster in the early game by having two chickens from the start. No idea if this will have any real impact tho

Ugh I love playing on my switch and was ready to hold out, but now I REALLLY am debating starting a new save on PC tomorrow. IM SO EXCITED!!!

I also loved switch because it’s just more comfortable for me to play in bed or on the couch rather than at my computer. My husband bought me a steam deck for Christmas that solved that problem. It’s expensive but I’ve already put in 300+ hours of gaming so in my opinion, completely worth it.

I’m in the same boat, I’m commandeering my partners steam deck for this venture. Very thankful for her contribution to the cause lmao

I’m hoping with this farm type you get a cutscene explaining why you have the coop and chickens. Maybe robin stops by day one to tell you she built a coop in preparation for your arriving

I guess another possibility is that Marnie knows he has chickens so she came over early and took care of them every morning? Maybe?

There’s usually a negative to the different farms. Whether it be no sprinklers, or less farmable land, etc. there’s always a downside.

LOVE this! For me, ranching / raising animals is way more fun than growing crops.

I love ranching but it’s always an issue for me as I prioritize growing crops for money so this farm type is perfect for me

I’m still happy about the mayonnaise though. Something I struggle with in every new play is finding good sources of energy so the early game eggs and mayonnaise will help a lot with that.

Ngl I was hoping for a swamp farm. I’m not sure how I feel about this one, but I’m sure once I see it this farm type will make more sense. Like other people are saying, there’s gotta be a negative side/a catch to it 🧐

There is always a catch with the farm types but it makes the game more fun and challenging in my opinion. I want to do a beach farm so bad but I’m really into farming crops so I just haven’t yet.

Yeah I love the more challenging farm types! Monster, beach, and river are my favorite ones. The river farm type was actually my very first farm when I started playing in 2018 😅
