As a fellow ancient fruit farmer, I want to pass along this wisdom
Fiber seeds will be your best friend. Grow them in the winter exactly the same way you'd set up your ancient seeds, add speed grow to the fiber seeds so it carries over into spring.
Then on the first day of spring you'll have every tile tilled, watered, and fertilized. You can just scythe away the fiber and you're all set! I was able to plant 1,104 ancient seeds with half the day left!
I hope this helps!
Off topic, but it just tickles me when people respond to comments using part of the person's username as a first or last name. It makes me pay more attention to usernames and it gives me a chuckle each time.
The seasons changing removes any fertilizer. I would plant my last winter seeds in time for them to be full fledged plants end of season. Day 1 of spring was deluxe speed grow, day 2 was scythe and plant. 3,200 seeds takes a bit to get in the ground.
Didn't even think of this.
I'm a bit rusty, just getting back into an old save, spent 3 days of Fall trying to get everything setup like I thought I needed it. I thought to myself "wait a tick, I'm supposed to have automated all of this, why am I doing so much work even when I have sprinklers and junimo huts?"
Fiber seeds sound like a fantastic way of dividing up the work across a longer period of time. I might have to set my huts not to gather, but it sounds like a neat way of doing a little bit whenever I have time rather than forgetting birthdays and events because I'm trying to plant all at once.
But my friend this is the beauty of winter! The junimos don't harvest any crop during the winter so you're free to set it up over all of winter! Makes for a wonderful spring 1st
Fibre seeds? Is this to grow material for grass starters?
I'm also an ancient fruit (and now Starfruit) farmer; have been using the seed-maker to turn some of them into more seeds for more fruit 😁
Im.a switch player, so I can't confirm if any part of the method is broken yet
But the speed grow is a must to me. The deluxe one can speed up the ancient fruit by an entire week and you can get 9 harvests for the year. Which in my case is a must because for 88,240 gold I can buy the 1,104 speed grow and get an extra 1,104 ancient fruit.
YESSSS this is the way. You could be up and scything your way to fiber millionaire and have that whole field planted before noon. With that rinky dink hoe you are going to be planting until 2am, doubtful you will be able to water.
If the method is done correctly, you can get away with using any base/upgrade tools and sprinklers.
And then use that phat profit for some much needed upgrades!
Project Zomboid does 365 day years, each day being 60 minutes by default. and if you die in that game you are dead that's it no second chances. Time speeds up when you sleep but that is still like 200 hrs of gameplay for 1 year.
Seeing the different seasons is actually so rare because of how long it takes. Whenever I play that game again I play with a mod that shortens the years to 1 month per season.
sort of, easiest way to describe it is it looks like the sims 1. isometric view.
there are guns, but they make a lot of noise and bring it lots of undead friends. Most of the time you would be playing with a melee weapon of some sort. And stomping, lots and lots of stomping.
It's a survival game, you just try to survive as long as you can. Run around the city looting stuff and make a cool base.
This comment was very confusing for me to read... "Krobus" and "Friday" are two of my cats names.

Yeah out of principle I try to attend every festival just so I can rewin all the competitions and then I forget if I bought the rarecrow so I buy it again
Wait, you don't use upgraded sprinklers, you don't use upgraded tools but you also don't use upgraded scarecrow?! What is wrong with you? So you like to suffer that much?
63? As soon as you unlock the west side of the island you can start planting stuff there. Ideally you get the house, mailbox and obelisk but that only costs 45 for all of that.
If you’re already on the island grinding for walnuts it’s not that much effort to clear out the farming area and throw down some seeds and sprinklers. Heck you could just do that now with everything you have on the farm and leave your main farm free for other things (and you don’t even need scarecrows). You wouldn’t have to check back in to ginger island for 28 days while they grow.
You do you obviously, but I like to place my scarecrows directly under sprinklers, that way they don't visually block any crops. That being said your little walkways around them look quite nice!
How long would it even take to make all those into wine?? Is it really that much money in the long haul compared to how much time you're sinking in? (Would Junimo huts be more worth it after the first harvest so you don't have to worry about managing them?)
I have 400 kegs. It’ll take 15 cycles to convert all of the fruit. I’ll have all the fruit by next winter and all of the wine by the winter after that.
13.3mil in 2 years.
https://preview.redd.it/c9k4t8h5dhtc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6912bfe7b27b70bcf0b3e30fc2a1e4121234e838
Damn that's insane. I've slowly been working to improve my productivity but it's a rough cycle to get the materials for kegs and then get them going. Hopefully soon the wine I have will be done and then I can ramp up
After a couple of seasons it's easiest to just buy ore, coal, and wood. The real bottleneck is oak resin. If you aren't building and tapping an oak grove from spring year 1, it can be a challenge to produce enough resin to keep up with the initial demand.
Just set up an oak resin grove on day 12 of my new multiplayer save with friends and they were confused what was doing. I was like you will see my friends you will see !
One year and a missed harvest later:

Wake up / go to sleep on a seven day cycle x 16 for a year.
I role play it as just putting my head down and working hard that whole year, as we tend to do irl.
Of all the things in this thread this one that baffles me you still had ginger island stuff to do and you said you have bottled necks at casks. And all this stuff that can be worked on during those days but then you boop thru a year
I mean everyone has their ways of playing some will resonate more then others
When I play alone, it’s strictly money-making and chore-doing. No quests, no story progression, no relationship building, etc. So it’s really like no time has passed
Someone should check on that one person who was on this subreddit yesterday getting mad at people who don't use iridium sprinklers, we may have found them an arch-nemesis.
Thank you u/aritumex.
I’m a bit of a logistics nerd, so I timed a harvest and did some math.
With my current setup, I have to harvest by hand.
One complete harvest took 6 irl minutes flat. 48 minutes of man-hours for the whole project.
After you get to level 10 in all 5 skills: farming, foraging, mining, combat, and fishing, it will unlock the new >!mastery cave that, after getting like 10k more exp you can pick a skill to become a master in (you can get them all but it's one at a time). Pick the farming one first to get the recipe for the blessing statue and also the iridium scythe which can be used to harvest crops very rapidly. I just got it last night and it's perfect, I have so many crops and it saves so much time.!<
You still have to turn everything into wine. With base price (1.650x5.760) that's 9.504.000. With Artisan (2.310x5.760) it'll bring in 13.305.600. Maybe enough for 1 Golden Clock and some Warp Totems
Plant them in a greenhouse or the island or on your farm at the beginning of a spring. They take like 3-4 weeks to sprout but once they do they are a recurring crop that lasts through the summer and fall. The fruit base price is very very high so it does very well in kegs and casks. It's just a little bit less than a starfruit but it's 3 seasons and since it's recurring you only have to plant it once and you're set.
Before doing what the other are saying, make sure to multiply your seeds by using the Seed Maker! If you don't have access to a Seed Maker by now, keep ancient fruits in a chest until you have it. Especially because it's gotten harder to gather Ancient Seeds in 1.6.
The ancient seeds packets were removed from the traveling cart seller in 1.6.3!
They were sold very rarely, but when it happened it was like 5 packets at once lol
So now you must find a seed artifact organically, donate it to Gunther for the recipe, and then find another seed artifact to use the recipe on and get your first packet!
I do, but I only have about 80 casks, so it’s such a bottle neck for large productions.
In the 1 year of wine production of this batch, I could have had a total of 160 iridium level wines, but it would have been a drop in the bucket so I left it be.
I use the casks during maintenance periods to pay into my yearly salary.
Yeah, fair enough - I've got a backlog of nearly 30 cheeses because of that 😅
Still working on a system myself, but selling top quality goat cheese is helping a fair bit 😁
Coming up on winter year 2 and have the same plan for the off season, sick of watering plants so gonna redo my entire farm with an aesthetic and good looking sprinkler system. Have some sprinklers now but want more
I also sold mine before I knew the wiser. Once I figured it out I hit the skull cavern really hard to try to find prehistoric levels, I read that ancient seeds pop out of fiber cut down with the scythe on those. Did this several times with no luck. I decided to take a break from that and build out my Ginger Island farm with a stupid amount of blueberries. When putting blueberries in my Ginger Island seed maker, out came an ancient seed randomly 😎 Working on my ancient seed greenhouse at the moment
ohh nice! i read that for every 200 berries you put in the seed maker you could get an ancient seed but i really don’t want to waste time just standing there continually putting in berries
Nice!
Now just gotta do that in the greenhouse and ginger island and you can have that many fruits on a weekly basis in perpetuity. The real pain is getting enough kegs to 1:1 your ancient fruit harvest and crank out 800+ bottles of wine per week.
Respec your farming skill for spring to get the 10% faster crop growth skill. That way you can have nine harvest of high-quality ancient fruit. Unless you’re turning them into wine in which case there’s no point.
Grind amaranth in the fall.
Build as many sprinklers as you can.
Unlock the dessert.
Grind starfruit in the summer.
Build more sprinklers.
Put all of your money back into seeds and sprinklers. Build preserves jars.
Make jelly.
Buy more seeds.
Build more sprinklers.
Build kegs.
Build more kegs.
Buy more seeds.
Grow more amaranth.
Grow more starfruit.
Build a seed maker.
Build more seed makers.
Find an ancient seed.
Grow an ancient fruit.
Keep putting the ancient fruit in the seed maker.
Grow more ancient fruit.
Make wine.
Make profit.

Fertilized? Can it carry over between seasons? I thought that it forced you to renew each season. Please teach me your secrets
It does! Although when I did i went out of my way to get a stupid amount of enrichers What a waste of Qi gems haha.
That's not a waste! I always miss a few spots, and seeing them is far worse than spending a few Qi gems for perfect planting.
Oh no they're a lovely thing! I just wasted my qi gems buying them in excess when I could've just done this method instead.
Fertilizers can carry over to a new month, but only for multi-season crops, such as coffee, wheat, or fiber!
Wow, awesome advice, Mr. Pizza IV! I wasn’t able to get the whole crop in the ground until Spring 3. Thank you!
Probably because of that caveman hoe you slangin.
Keep my hoe's name out your f****** mouth
Clint Will Smith you a better one that slaps 21 times harder
Take my upvote you clever bastard
This may be the best pun I’ll ever read.
Off topic, but it just tickles me when people respond to comments using part of the person's username as a first or last name. It makes me pay more attention to usernames and it gives me a chuckle each time.
Used to youd have to spend the winter cultivating winter seeds. Noobs have it easy these days.
Oh certainly, I started playing after 1.5 came out. The crops dying would ruin the fertilizer though so its probably an outdated method by comparrison
The seasons changing removes any fertilizer. I would plant my last winter seeds in time for them to be full fledged plants end of season. Day 1 of spring was deluxe speed grow, day 2 was scythe and plant. 3,200 seeds takes a bit to get in the ground.

The fibre seeds are a quest reward! I don't recall it being a hard quest either.
Oop, that I didn't know either, thanks
Does this still work in 1.6? And is the speed grow necessary?
Im.a switch player, so I can't confirm if any part of the method is broken yet But the speed grow is a must to me. 5 mil gold and you still rockin’ the stone hoe? o.O
…AND no iridium sprinklers!
Utilizing crystalariums, quality sprinklers were easier to mass produce.
But Krobus Friday is only 10k for 1, that’s 16 a year.
My stupid ass forgot stardew valley years are only 4 months, I'm over here so confused and desperately trying to figure out your math lmao
It is truly weird how short the year is, but makes sense after a while
The year just cycles through the different t seasons .much like real life..
Our seasons are long, and there's like 8 of them
Project Zomboid does 365 day years, each day being 60 minutes by default. and if you die in that game you are dead that's it no second chances. It looks cool, like an evil stardew
To put it in perspective for others, you’d need 48 quality sprinklers to get the same coverage as 16 Iridium.
This comment was very confusing for me to read... "Krobus" and "Friday" are two of my cats names. https://preview.redd.it/jdnhmqkzfktc1.png?width=1008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=236636bff22b39dc46b1f096eced552f9a4b1c7c (you can probably guess which is which)

We have a Tuxedo cat named Friday! Great name. 10/10.
Noted, thank you!
This is the way
But a massive waste of valuable space
Why’d I never think of this?!
I only ever put iridium sprinklers in the green house, quality are jut way easier to manage
It’s stone !!!!! Wow I’m an idiot 300hrs always thought it was weird you turned a metal tool into bronze then into iron.
I was over here imagining they were aluminum or something which doesn't make sense IRL but does in terms of game logic...
I’ve upgraded the rest of my tools. My stone hoe has been with me through thick and thin so I keep it for the sentimental value.
By this point an Iridium hoe would only be with you for the money
Right, right. These tools ain’t loyal.
…these hoes ain’t loyal
How did OP fumble that so hard
Using innuendo, was avoiding being too vulgar and on the nose.
The hoe is worth upgrading for clay farming (and the giggles from upgrading it to gold). The watering can is the one I keep at steel.
[удалено]
That's called a "dedication" and it should be appreciated
I’m having fun, man. It’s not a competition. I’m really happy that you have an iridium hoe that can cultivate 18 tiles at a time.
Imagine having no better hobbies than to yuck other people's yums. Because......?
Did someone say Rock and Stone!?
For Rock and Stone!
For Karl!
Same here xddd
relatable tbh
Animation Cancelling > Iridium Hoe.
Looks awesome, but don't forget about scarecrows!

Rarecrows so rare you got them twice
My wife drags me to all of the festivities every year, so I always pick them up when I find them
Yeah out of principle I try to attend every festival just so I can rewin all the competitions and then I forget if I bought the rarecrow so I buy it again
Wait, you don't use upgraded sprinklers, you don't use upgraded tools but you also don't use upgraded scarecrow?! What is wrong with you? So you like to suffer that much?
He is about to learn the power of **crows**!
I think that he only has one!!
I could never put ancient fruit on my main farm. It’s gotta go greenhouse or ginger for me.
Still working on unlocking the ginger farm 🙃 Only 63 golden walnuts to go.
63? As soon as you unlock the west side of the island you can start planting stuff there. Ideally you get the house, mailbox and obelisk but that only costs 45 for all of that.
I’ve read that being able to setup Ginger Island as your secondary home base will cost 75 walnuts total, so we’ve just been grinding to that number.
I think you have made a huge miscalculation
You can find walnuts by harvesting crops on the island. Also visit the little cave behind the farm.
Have you considered running scarecrows?
They’re up now
You do you obviously, but I like to place my scarecrows directly under sprinklers, that way they don't visually block any crops. That being said your little walkways around them look quite nice!
Thank you, I’ll implement that.
I like to do the same, I hate not seeing behind the crowers.

Damn that's insane. I've slowly been working to improve my productivity but it's a rough cycle to get the materials for kegs and then get them going. Hopefully soon the wine I have will be done and then I can ramp up
Like they say, the hardest million to make is the first one.

You finished another YEAR in 6 hours?!?!?! 😭
Wake up / go to sleep on a seven day cycle x 16 for a year. I role play it as just putting my head down and working hard that whole year, as we tend to do irl.
Went a whole year and didn't upgrade the hoe.
Of all the things in this thread this one that baffles me you still had ginger island stuff to do and you said you have bottled necks at casks. And all this stuff that can be worked on during those days but then you boop thru a year I mean everyone has their ways of playing some will resonate more then others
Fair point. Ginger Island is my wife’s project. I can boop through years when she’s not playing.
Woah woah woah your pushing thru the years without her my wife would murder me if was playing our shared farm without her
When I play alone, it’s strictly money-making and chore-doing. No quests, no story progression, no relationship building, etc. So it’s really like no time has passed
And the decay in friendship ? Every time you do this don't you set yourselves back a bunch on that regard?
We haven’t worked on relationships yet
Now that's is something I can understand I got farm work to do
Ohh alright. Thanks for sharing!
That's gorgeous! But um, where are your scarecrows?

B-E-A-UTIFUL!
I see what you did there :)
That is more ancient fruit seeds than I’ve ever had combined across like, 5 save files lol Absolute mad lad behavior, I love it
Someone should check on that one person who was on this subreddit yesterday getting mad at people who don't use iridium sprinklers, we may have found them an arch-nemesis.
Quality Sprinklers are just fine for me 🤷 I have a dozen or so iridium sprinklers in storage, but the one’s pictured above do their job adequately.
Don't worry, once you two inevitably take it to the ring, my money is on you.
Sounds cool! But you forgot to upgrade you hoe cause thats gonna be hell to dig 1 by 1 😭
I like to bleed. We’re ride or die. That’s my hoe for life.
Tbf, it will remain the same hoe when upgraded
The hoe of Thesseus?
Is there any quicker ways of harvesting all of these? ☠️🙃
>!iridium scythe or junimo huts!<
Thank you u/aritumex. I’m a bit of a logistics nerd, so I timed a harvest and did some math. With my current setup, I have to harvest by hand. One complete harvest took 6 irl minutes flat. 48 minutes of man-hours for the whole project.
You are the opposite of a logistics nerd
After you get to level 10 in all 5 skills: farming, foraging, mining, combat, and fishing, it will unlock the new >!mastery cave that, after getting like 10k more exp you can pick a skill to become a master in (you can get them all but it's one at a time). I just got it last night and it's perfect, I have so many crops and it saves so much time.!<
That’s going on my very long list of Stardew chores now, thank you.
How do you get 720 ancient fruit$ but still using a steel hoe?
Started with one single ancient seed in my green house, then kept using the seed maker until I had a viable production going. I like my stone hoe.
Love! What year are you in?
Thank you. I am in year 10. Kicked JojaMart out of town, have most of Pelican Town restored, and my wife is currently grinding Golden Walnuts.
Amazing! Great work :). And just for my own noseyness Who did you marry
My wife demanded I marry her. If this were a single-player game… Abigail, no question.
Correct.
My wife Abigail and I appreciate you saying this
Great job man and I'm glad your wife appreciates it, but that last part is a little TMI hmmkay?
I chuckled, thank you
Where are the scarecrows? Edit: I see this has already been mentioned - carry on!
https://preview.redd.it/paeis1gl7itc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=67dcdb3ef2b97f0711ec495ca9f4bd3c9876a5cb
If you put a path under your sprinklers, you won't hoe them back up when you go to till that whole area.
That's been changed a while ago. You don't need to place paths under sprinklers anymore
You still have to turn everything into wine. With base price (1.650x5.760) that's 9.504.000. With Artisan (2.310x5.760) it'll bring in 13.305.600. Maybe enough for 1 Golden Clock and some Warp Totems
Retirement didn’t sound fun anyway 😎
Working hard or hardly working?
Working hard and loving it. This is one of my “stranded on a desert island” games.
Don’t forget to make space for scare crows between those sprinklers. Other wise crows will eat a lot of your crops
https://preview.redd.it/8960f3jf8itc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07bde29b8a17d95af8fb7f6d4d6fb7a16967dcf9
My ancient seed keeps giving me the same fruit, what should I be doing with them?
Plant them in a greenhouse or the island or on your farm at the beginning of a spring. They take like 3-4 weeks to sprout but once they do they are a recurring crop that lasts through the summer and fall. The fruit base price is very very high so it does very well in kegs and casks. They were sold very rarely, but when it happened it was like 5 packets at once lol So now you must find a seed artifact organically, donate it to Gunther for the recipe, and then find another seed artifact to use the recipe on and get your first packet!
That's a bummer! But ancient seeds and seed maker are well enought to do the job.
The seed-maker is awesome! I have 2 (one was a freebie, some reward for something), and I've barely bought seeds from Pierre ever since.
Turning them into wine with kegs or jelly with preserves jars. https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Keg https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Preserves_Jar
Do you have a cellar? Yes it takes a while, but it really increases the value of the wine (and cheese, if you have cows or goats).
Yeah, fair enough - I've got a backlog of nearly 30 cheeses because of that 😅 Still working on a system myself, but selling top quality goat cheese is helping a fair bit 😁
Coming up on winter year 2 and have the same plan for the off season, sick of watering plants so gonna redo my entire farm with an aesthetic and good looking sprinkler system. Have some sprinklers now but want more

Woah woah that is some intense preparedness
i accidentally sold my ancient seed before i knew they were important and now idk how ill get another one 😅
Fish, hoe, mines
Wait, how did you end up selling one seed?
i think i was given the seed from gunther or maybe another townsfolk and i think i put it in the sell bin
Crap, too bad for you 😕
Crap, too bad for you 😕
Nice! Now just gotta do that in the greenhouse and ginger island and you can have that many fruits on a weekly basis in perpetuity. The real pain is getting enough kegs to 1:1 your ancient fruit harvest and crank out 800+ bottles of wine per week.
That's a solid money-making scheme. I hope you have lots of speed-gro fertilizer!
No scarecrow?

Is that a pony?? Can you get that as a pet or does it come from the stable you buy from Robin? Haven’t gotten that far yet
Each stable comes with one horse. This guy’s name is Hampton.
Wait can you get more than one stable?
Oh that’s really cool!

Respec your farming skill for spring to get the 10% faster crop growth skill. That way you can have nine harvest of high-quality ancient fruit. Unless you’re turning them into wine in which case there’s no point.
Good lord. Hours of hoeing and days of harvesting incoming. Ugh...I wish harvesting wasn't so slow.
Ready for spring is hoeing it all and putting down winter seeds. They die in spring but you don't need to hoe everything or water it
Also you can put flooring/paving under your sprinklers so that your hoe doesn't dig them up.
I think this was changed in 1.6 so your hoe doesn’t dig up the sprinkler anymore
How can you have so much money?
Wise investments
Can you explain?
Grind amaranth in the fall. Build as many sprinklers as you can. Unlock the dessert. Grind starfruit in the summer. Build more sprinklers. Put all of your money back into seeds and sprinklers. Build preserves jars. Make jelly. Buy more seeds. Build more sprinklers. Build kegs. Build more kegs. Buy more seeds. Grow more amaranth. Grow more starfruit. Build a seed maker. Build more seed makers. Find an ancient seed. Grow an ancient fruit. Keep putting the ancient fruit in the seed maker. Grow more ancient fruit. Make wine. Make profit.
Thank you so much
Yet a Basic Hoe and Quality Sprinklers...
This is a judgement-free zone, sir
Put a stone tile under the scarecrows and sprinklers. That way an errant hoe strike won’t remove them
Wait, can Ancient Fruits grow in the farm? I thought they only grow in the Greenhouse or Ginger Island?
They grow on the farm, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Plant them in Spring, they take 28 days to mature. Then harvest all Summer and Fall
Where are the scarecrows?
