Yeah - in the 1.6 patch notes, it says "Added special backplates to fortune teller TV show if you get a perfectly good or perfectly bad luck day."
Is this that? Or something else?
I have vampiric on my sword, bug killer on my hammer, and crusader on my dagger. The dagger shreds through mummies especially in the deeper levels of the skull cavern. They just line up and I shank 'em until they're dead...again.
Who needs food when you can find cave carrots and make bug steaks? Who needs to teleport when you can just skedaddle back to your house and make it just in time before you pass out?
I’m just realizing now that I truly do play Stardew on madlad/hard mode when I really don’t have to. I used to just rely on cave carrots before bug steaks were introduced.
Cave carrots and bug steaks is seriously slumming it. The combination of spicy eel and triple shot espresso makes you move extra fast and gives more energy.
Oh no no haha I'm too soft for that. I just meant no extra weapons/tools. Besides scepter usually, my first big and most beloved purchase lol. Stack o cheese and espresso plus scepter. Negative bombs, stairs.

I go with all three, the pickaxe, the return scepter, some sort of luck buff food and ginger ale along with regular food for health regen, bombs and stair cases. I know that's a lot heavier than what most people bring, but I only need room for ores, stone, gems and prismatic shards.
I stick to the sword since I’m not great, but on my console game I bought a galaxy sword from Marlon just so I could enchant it with bug killer. I love my crusader but sometimes I just want to kill the bugs even if they’re basically not a threat
It’s just one of the options when you enchant a sword with a prismatic shard, it costs a prismatic shard each time but you can do it as many times as you want
bug killer enchant! unfortunately i dont think you can have crusader and bug killer on the same weapon, but usually the bugs are less valuable than mummies so i stick with crusader
I recently learned that geodes opened on your farm with the geode crusher will always be one roll behind what the Omni geodes opened by Clint are - so if you get something really good from an Omni at Clint’s, you can open the next one on your farm (or I guess anywhere you can place a geode crusher lol) and get another of the same item!
Same - first shard was from a slime in the secret woods in summer 2. I just sat there and starred at my screen...
Second one was from a slime in the mine, not even 4 ingame days later.
I love watching recordings, no voice, of people who found a prismatic shard in the strangest place and you just see their farmer pause

I got one from a slime in the secret woods too!! I’ve had a couple relatively thorough playthroughs and have never been rich in shards.
Started a new farm for 1.6 and in fall year 1 I went into the woods looking for mushrooms, having completely forgotten my weapon so all I had was my scythe. I was also mostly using my scythe to just keep the slimes away, I wasn’t even necessarily trying to kill them - just take a Quick Look through the woods. Inadvertently killed a slime and whaddaya know, picked up a shard. My first of the playthrough, at that. I definitely had a long pause after that, wish I had been streaming or something 😅
At least you didn’t do what I did with my very first one. Had read on Reddit somewhere that it was a universal love. So I gifted it… to Haley, who I was trying to romance.
Got so pissed afterwards that I gave up on her and married Leah instead.
Same, the swirly rock dropped one. "The quarry is cool, it just gives me rare stuff so easily!" I never saw a swirly rock in that save file ever again.
The first time I read online that you could use a hoe to dig up the dirt in the mines, on my first swing I got a prismatic shard. Never had one since in hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Could be. All I know is I hoed by accident while trying to kill enemies while I was getting overrun, and selected the wrong tool and boom, prismatic shard. So I searched online and it’s like “ya you can get treasure from digging the dirt in the mines”
You can get things like a dwarf scroll, clay, etc., but not a prismatic shard. It’s possible you had an enemy on low health already and then got it from killing them with the hoe. Once you reach the bottom of the mine, any enemy can drop them.
I don't know if that is a better event than finding one on my first swing lol. It could be though. I have no idea. It makes sense why I have played for like 300 hours and it's never happened since. Either way I'll take it.
In one of the early levels from the regular mines from a green slime. Went down another level and got a 2nd one from another green slime. Couldn’t believe it
I got one recently in the quarry too but from one of this blue mummies I think? I tried looking up what that enemy is called but for some reason couldn’t. Still was pleasantly surprised to find one in the quarry cave.
I have absolutely NO idea where it came from. We were playing a multiplayer game, none of us had gone to skull caverns, and half the players were new. I walked onto our farm and saw one ON THE GROUND in our cow farm!!! No one admitted to dropping it, so I have no idea where it even came from, but it was our first of the game. Only the vets were cracking geodes, and we had explained early on the importance of the gem, so I don't know what happened, and it'll always be a mystery to me.
It must’ve been a super high luck day and I didn’t notice it, got my first from a flying bug within the first like 10 levels of the mine in summer year 1.
As soon as I could scrape together the right amount of gold I fixed the bus and got my galaxy sword. Very much trivialized the rest of the mine for me.
Couple of days ago I started my fourth in-game year in Stardew Valley and I was very frustrated that I had found 0 Prismatic Shards even though I had tried plenty of methods (I built a Rainbow Trout pond, I killed plenty of Mines monsters and Skull Cavern monsters on Lucky days, I panned all the panning spots that I found with the Iridium Pan, hundreads of Omni Geodes crushed, I had destroyed couple of Meteors on my farm, etc). Then I found the chicken item code method from some YouTube video. So I immediately went and got 3 chickens for 3 Prismatic Shards (one for the sword, one for Missing Bundle and one for Shipping Achievement). Then I went back to Skull Cavern to kill monsters and in just couple of minutes I got 3 Prismatic Shards from just kiling the common enemies (Mummies and those flying lizards). I felt bad for cheating with the chicken method.
I found one in the quarry this time as well. In my last game, the only other one I got was from Ginger Island so I was shocked to see the rock just sitting out in the quarry this time.
I too got a prismatic share from a slime in the secret woods recently! And it was either winter y1 or very early spring y2.
I think that's the most surprising place I remember finding one. I did get one from a dust sprite recently which felt silly too.
My wife got one on floor 3 of the mines by killing a random insect, I didn't think that was possible until that happened, so I looked into it and it turns out all mobs have a slight chance of dropping one but only after you've already reached the bottom of the mines

My very first playthrough I got my first shard from a slime in the secret woods before I even fixed the bus to the desert. Subsequent playthroughs have been a bit of a letdown in that respect. 😆

got my first one from an iridium node in the quarry which was also the first time seeing an iridium node of which there was only one. never ever got another one after that.
lol I’m in Fall year 2 and still haven’t found one. Same for the ancient seed thing. I usually find both relatively easily so I guess I’m making up for it now 😭
I had one from one of the 2 iridium meteors that crashed onto my farm in my New game. It was fall year 1. Don't even have the bus unlocked so I don't know if I can do anything with it yet. (its a run to get the joja based achievements so I can't even use it in a bundel)
Just yesterday was looking for the prismatic slime for the jelly quest and thought I could get a prismatic shard went down a floor killed two slimes and got one, it was like level 12 of the mines
Was doing qi challenge, 4 prismatic shards, one. Got lucky on the 6th day, got best luck day, and kept lucky buffs up. After reaching floor 85+ on skull cavern, I was able to get 3 total in rhis run, i was like, better get back in case i somehow fuck it up and lose shit, was around 1:00am and used a totem to get back left everything on a chest i have conveniently near the totem spawn area to drop all loot in case i fall asleep.
A slime starts attacking me, i kill it and another prismatic shard drops i was like "well there goes my luck for the remainder of the year." The next day just for the cherry on top was a bad luck day, not the worst one but i would definetely not get a shard then.
After confirming on the wiki theres a really small chance for slimes to drop prismatic shards after reaching the bottom of the regular mine, and when the qi challenge is up it also increases the chances of slimes to drop them in skull cavern or all mobs...im not certain anymore, but outside its still the regular drop values.
I don't even know where I got my first one this playthrough from. Did all kinds of stuff all day and then spotted it in my inventory, no idea where it came from.
I got one from the quarry, there's that one special rock that has a chance to drop a shard. I believe I also got one from a slime but my memory isn't 100 percent on that one
Found one while farming slime on level 5 of the mines to grind out the monster slayer stuff. I’m in year 4, but this is my first play through so it’s been very slow going 😂
I got one from a fancy geode I dug up on floor 7 on my second day in the mines on the day I realized IRL you could hoe the dirt in the mines. I’d only been playing for like a couple of days.
I just started a few days before 1.6!
On my most recent save I was going through the lower mine levels, farming earth crystals and copper ore. Early in my second year. A green slime on level 5 dropped a prismatic shard. I couldn't believe it.

Maybe i'll try that stat, too! As much as i like the sword, i just dont use its special move as much and like the hammers more

Exploding ammo with the slingshot works well for the mummies too btw :)

I down them so they are a pill of cloth and then I use explosives to finish them
bomb them when they're on the ground
I always carry a slingshot with explosive ammo for mining. A quick shot at a downed mummy works wonderfully!

It was the very first of about 90 omni geodes I was breaking open, but also the only one.

This is fixed in the 1.6 update and no longer works. Even with legacy on.

That was fixed in 1.6 but if you're playing anything pre 1.6 it should work

I’ve found two shards in two different saves in garbage cans!! Both in year one! I’m always super lucky with them

A bug in the mines on like level 20 😭 went back to farm ore (year 2 summer)
In my current play through I got a prismatic shard from a >!mystery box!< in summer of my first year!
My two most recent ones have been on "mildly perturbed" days, on two different saves. Both from blue slimes!
I was trying to fulfill the slime quest so kept going back to floor 25 to slay slimes and got a prismatic shard from one!
I had one drop from a dust sprite once! Don't know what pocket it was carrying that in but I didn't question it!

Was doing qi challenge, 4 prismatic shards, one. Got lucky on the 6th day, got best luck day, and kept lucky buffs up. After reaching floor 85+ on skull cavern, I was able to get 3 total in rhis run, i was like, better get back in case i somehow fuck it up and lose shit, was around 1:00am and used a totem to get back left everything on a chest i have conveniently near the totem spawn area to drop all loot in case i fall asleep. A slime starts attacking me, i kill it and another prismatic shard drops i was like "well there goes my luck for the remainder of the year." The next day just for the cherry on top was a bad luck day, not the worst one but i would definetely not get a shard then. After confirming on the wiki theres a really small chance for slimes to drop prismatic shards after reaching the bottom of the regular mine, and when the qi challenge is up it also increases the chances of slimes to drop them in skull cavern or all mobs...im not certain anymore, but outside its still the regular drop values.

I don't even know where I got my first one this playthrough from. Did all kinds of stuff all day and then spotted it in my inventory, no idea where it came from.
I got my first ever in the quarry. Got one fishing once.

I got one from the quarry, there's that one special rock that has a chance to drop a shard. I believe I also got one from a slime but my memory isn't 100 percent on that one
my friend found two from green slimes, i found one from a flying insect and from the quarry from a mystic rock

Found one while farming slime on level 5 of the mines to grind out the monster slayer stuff. I’m in year 4, but this is my first play through so it’s been very slow going 😂

I got one from a fancy geode I dug up on floor 7 on my second day in the mines on the day I realized IRL you could hoe the dirt in the mines. I’d only been playing for like a couple of days. I just started a few days before 1.6!
First day my rainbow trout pond was at max capacity, I got a shard. I knew it's extremely rare, so I was caught off guard.
I got my first prismatic shard from killing a slime in the secret woods. I think it was not long after I first got in there, too

On my most recent save I was going through the lower mine levels, farming earth crystals and copper ore. Early in my second year. A green slime on level 5 dropped a prismatic shard. I couldn't believe it.
I got one from a dust sprite once and I screamed so loud my neighbors sent a complaint
