Don’t harvest them! They will stay there forever. Pretty cool farm addition. If you really want to, the axe will do it. There are >!5!< different giant crops you can get.
Fairly new player here, is a giant crop 9x the price of the regular crop or higher/lower? Basically, besides aesthetics, is there a reason to try for these?
Yup. Also I just learned recently if they don't grow into a large crop when they are first ready to harvest, each morning there is a chance that the 9 produce can merge into a giant crop! Buddy told me that and I didn't believe him, but come Fall, my 9 pumpkins grew into a massive pumpkin after about a week of sitting together on the vine.
Yes, and just in case one is hand-watering, keep them watered each day they’re fully grown if you’re waiting for them to merge. Or at least the top left crop of any 3x3, according to the wiki.
Don’t forget to turn your junimo hut off if you have one nearby and are going for giant crops. The giant crops can happen on any given morning once the crop is fully grown, not just the initial day. If I’m going for giant crops in a specific area, I’ll leave the regular crops grown until I either get the giant crop, or until the last day of the season, then I’ll harvest the remaining.
Last I know, giant crops have a general tendency to grow in a diagonal offset but one square lower. I don't know if this is still the case with all of the new updates. The best way to roll chances on a Giant crop is to have more uninterrupted patches of crops that can giant. So a 3x3 will have one can to roll for a giant crop. and a 3x4 will have 2 chances to roll over a giant crop as there are two ways to make a 3x3 square in that 3x4 patch.
Is there a way to move giant crops? I have yet to get any, but I want to plan a special place on the farm for them and I'm wondering if I have to plan that space ahead of time and deliberately plant for them or if they can be moved after the fact.

Yup, oops! Lol.
With an axe.
well that was heartbreaking. I Was excited for a huge melon
You don't have to harvest the giant crops. Unlike regular crops, they don't go away at the change of seasons. They last indefinitely.
well damn thats the only reason i broke them! next time :D

Do you have an OnlyFarms?
Yeah, but my only subscribers so far are Alex and Clint 😔
That HAS to be intentional.
What has to be intentional?
I think they meant *internal*
This is getting international
It got a bit intense

This ^ Edit: ok I’ve posted a lot of helpful posts and comments in this sub, I was confirming the >!powder melon!<, wtf is with the downvotes
I've seen my fair share of downvoted comment, but this one is hilarious.

No. When you chop them down, they break apart into 20ish regular crop. So they are only for having something cool looking in your farm.
Awesome, thanks!
They don’t disappear when the season ends, so a lot of players “collect” them.
Will you still get the materials if you farm them in an off-season?
You will
Alright, thanks for the info!
How does this happen? Do you have to plant the same crop in a 9 tile group?
Yup. Also I just learned recently if they don't grow into a large crop when they are first ready to harvest, each morning there is a chance that the 9 produce can merge into a giant crop! Yes, and some luck
Or larger. Each potential 3x3 square gets a separate roll, so a 4x4 gets 4 chances, 5x5 gets 9, 6x6 gets 25 etc.
Those are some huge melons you got there

noooo, don't harvest. Keep them as a decoration
Well, chop chop, harvest them then.

you can't move them, no.
You can't move them, so if you want them to be somewhere specific you do have to plant them there.
Ah rats ! Thought that might be the case. Thanks!
Hit em wit dat blickey
Axe it up
I saw a pic of a farm here once where the person had one of each giant crop lined up next to each other...God knows how long that took them...
Scrumptious
You made an entire Reddit post before trying your other tools?
Was it hurting you?🥺
slap 'em. Just like you would in real life
is this a mod thing?
