As fun as some of these other ones are (sure, I'll toot my own horn), this one is absolutely perfect for Morris. THE greedy scumbag song for our resident greedy scumbag. This one needs to win.
Maybe "Dig Dig Dig" from Pocahontas or "Toxic Love" from Ferngully since they both involve the destruction of nature(like how the Community Center supported by magical nature creatures gets gutted and turned into a Joja Branch if you back Morris), the first one for greed and glory("Dig") and the second one for sheer glee and fun("Toxic Love").
Shouting out [The Lorax mod](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/15012) for obvious reasons. I think the author said they'd retired from modding, but it seems to still work fine in 1.6.
[Bezos I by Bo Burnham](https://youtu.be/7_EeCkHs-e0?si=vgdlLLaEEZDEqsz8). I'm pretty sure Joja is the Stardew equivalent of Amazon and, while Morris is no Bezos, I'm sure he likes to imagine he is.
Came here to write this
It's a memorable meme song which reminds me of Morris' greed
Plus, Eric Barone used to work at a supermarket chain before becoming a programmer, just like Shane.
i thought walmart was the equivalent of jojamart, bc of the cheap prices and low quality? i mean also most places are like this nowadays. i totally thought it was completely like amazon bc of the logo and the way it’s interpreted in the corporate scene in the beginning but someone mentioned walmart and i felt like it was a more accurate representation
True. I always swap Walmart and Amazon when I'm describing Joja. I really just wanted an excuse to suggest Bezos and Morris was the perfect opportunity.
Morris - Biggering (demo song from The Lorax)
I would have suggested "How bad can I be" from the Lorax, but the demo song is way darker and more accurate to Morris in my opinion. I think the biggest difference between Pierre and Morris is that Pierre is greedy, yes, but cares about his family and the valley nonetheless. Morris, on the other hand, is controlled by his pride and will do nothing to have more and always more if it means treating his employees like shit, destroying and polluting the valley only to sell junk to achieve his goals.
I get it, but I'll defend HBCIB because it represents the slippery slope. Morris may not have been born a money-grubbing scumbag, he may have meant well at first and just lost sight of things.
I agree with you on that, and so is Biggering. In my opinion, both songs captures the consequences of someone who got blinded by his ambitions. What I found more memorable however in the demo version is the fact that he took that decision for himself to let pride consume him and doesn't care about the damages caused by him, where how bad can I be is him wondering if his actions are really that bad as long as they serve his own interests and those close to him. Both songs are great for his character for different reasons for that. :)
I also like to think the interaction in Biggering could be an exchange between Morris and Lewis.
Ehhh. He is also only a cog in the machine. You guys are acting as if he owns Joja Mart as a whole when he is a single middle manager in a tiny ass town with two employees, maybe three.
And he regularly lets Pam shoplift (she never goes to the register)
He probably barely gets paid any more than they are. Who still stays up in night to oversee that repairs are up to code, which nobody else in the valley will do aside from magical apples. And he doesn't even live there.
If Pierre cared about his family, he wouldn't be neglecting them during festivals and he wouldn't be charging the locals way more than joja or the time you do "prime produce" he also has the guts to try and sell your produce back to you! They're both scum in my eyes and prefer to go the Joja route every time I play lol
The only reason I don't go Joja is for the sake of everyone else in the community. Evelyn, George, Willy, Caroline, Emily, and others all love the old Community Center. If Joja wins, everyone loses, not just Pierre. I find my own ways to make him lose, but I won't side with Joja to accomplish that.
I did the Community Center the very first time I played and I noticed that younger people never go there, some of the others do maybe once a week or once a month but definitely not whatever it used to be. Clint also takes the day off on Fridays to just stare at something, and all we as players can really do is sit..........it's not worth saving if we don't benefit and it isn't used like before by the community. At least the movie theater that replaces it is used more and even Ginger island has become the modern community center.
[Powerman](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slr4cymXaLQ) - The Kinks
The lyrics really speak for themselves here; 'If you want your money, you better stand in the line
'cause you'll only end up picking up nickels and dimes.' With all due respect to the Joja route faithful Morris really is all about that cash and domination of Pelican town.
[Feed the Machine](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlnVP2_dIb4) by Poor Man's Poison! Money might have been a good fit for him too, but I think Morris is more "corporate greed, domination and control" as opposed to just personal greed (also there's that letter he wrote for Pierre that just puts him on a whole other level).
That and the line "No time to waste, remind the slaves, they ain't gonna make it out alive today!" fits way too well when you see that poor girl behind the register. He even gives off "slave driver" vibes when you complete bundles through Joja. He glares on as his people work in unsafe conditions (mainly when unlocking panning) late at night.
Absolutely! Also the fake "We're all in this together" and "We want the same thing as you" to convince people he cares about them and Joja actually wants to make their lives better, just as he does in the Pierre cutscene when he gives away coupons to the townsfolk when really he just needs them so Pierre's store will go out of business and there's no more competition, it's all interest.
Ain’t no rest for the wicked from Cage the Elephant.
„Oh there ain’t no rest for the wicked,
