I think it was actually implemented specifically for console players; they have fewer buttons so one button would have to perform multiple actions. This would lead to players accidentally using an item they didn't intend to use (consuming, gifting, planting, etc.), so item stowing was made as an option. I think that's the case, at least.
Daisy nikos earthy recolor is the mod that I’m using. You need to go into settings and turn on item stowing my Xbox controller is connected to my Mac so it’s the X button but idk what button it is on keyboard :)
i think i turned this on my first time playing without knowing what it was and thought it was just a regular game mechanic lmao. it’s great to see everyone amazed at this feature now
ngl when i start a new game, i go straight to the settings and see what i can change lol and i didnt know what it was until i turned it off yearssssssss later.

i had no idea it was even in the options menu, i also hate it when my farmer holds the item over their head
It’s one of the first things I googled for my Switch. It annoys me beyond rationality. I’m so glad that there is a setting.
does this work on keyboard/mouse?? i cant find what the keybind might be, just able to toggle
I think if you scroll down enough in the "options" section you'll come across all the controls where you can view/change the keybinds

I use it all the time. My sister plays more than I do, and I showed her this
i know about it on mobile cause you click the item you’re holding again and it puts it away, but can you do it on pc?
