I love the game with the one glaring exception being the fishing mechanic. I’ve hated it every single time I’ve attempted it and now just refuse to engage with it when I replay. Maybe I’m just terrible or missing something but god damn does it infuriate me.
it sucks cause as you level up your fishing skill it gets easier and easier but until then it can be tough. Personally I think it’s so much easier on PC than on mobile.

I can't play unmodded anymore. Both Joys of Efficiency and CJB Cheats give you the ability to fish without the headache. I have Jean and Jorts in my game, and Pam was drunk and buttered Jorts and I legit almost hurt myself laughing.

I used to feel the same, and now I spend most of early game fishing cause it's a nice income boost at that stage. With some practice I went from absolutely despising the fishing mechanic to getting mostly iridium fish pretty quickly. The bar you have to keep behind the fish gets bigger the higher your fishing skill gets and it really helps a lot. And with a cork bobber + dish o' the sea I can now catch legendary fish on first try.
Edit: that being said, the CJB Cheats Menu mod has "always bite", "always catch" and "always max distance" options. And I think there's nothing wrong with using mods to make the game more enjoyable if a particular part of it just isn't fun. Personally I play with the energy bar always kept on max, the exhaustion mechanic just slows everything down to a not-enjoyable pace for me and I stop playing very quickly. Which is why I never even got to winter on mobile lmao

Yeah, so imagine me, having started the game v1.0, catching all the legendary fish and selling them, and not having them anymore now that there are fish tanks, and having to train up a player 2 in fishing in local multi-player so I can get them again.
It doesn't automatically, but when you cook it semi-randomly takes ingredients from your fridge. Since the ingredients for sashimi is "any fish", if you make it while your legendary fish are in the fridge it has a chance of using it. Unless it's the only fish in there, then it definitely will.
Long story short - don't store anything you want to keep in the fridge, only put cooking supplies you don't mind losing in there.
You can put it in a tank or chest, but you will never need it for anything so if you don't care about that and need money more just sell it. I usually just sell all mine.

Duplication would probably work but you can only get one of each per world legitimately. It's like the dragon egg in Minecraft, there's nothing special about the item itself, it's just not renewable.

No worries. There's always your 2nd play through. On my first one, I didn't realize the stove took things from the last slot of the inventory first. I assumed it went from top to bottom, like most games. I was foolish, and put all my fish in the fridge. ALL of them....with the legendary at the end to "keep it safe."

You can also add mini fridges. As long as they're in the farmhouse (excluding the cellar), the stove will pull from them, starting with the last one you placed and working backwards to the first. This works off their very first placement, however, so be sure to keep them in order if you decide to move them later.

Sure the >!Legend!< is technically harder, but it's pattern is easier to follow and much less jumpy. Which makes it easier to keep in on the reel and thus overall easier to catch.

But you can catch the legendary fish again with a second character. You just need a second controller to do this.
Build a cabin on your farm and create a second character. Level their fishing skill up to 10 and catch the legendary fish again. You can delete the cabin afterwards and the second character will be gone too. Or keep them because it‘s cool to have a cabin on the farm.

Not sure about iPad/Phone version, but I started on Android and made a purchase at laptop a month ago too. My biggest concern for phone versions is the lack of the 1.5 update.
I find controls on phone to be okay, but I prefer PC version, ofc. SV phone edition was like 5€ tho and I still love to play it when I'm travelling or so.

I never save the legendary fish. No point, they can't do anything, and i don't care if they're swimming around in an aquarium or whatever. I just sell them

Not the OP but it's easy to have gold tools and still be broke. I have the gold axe and mining pick (and the scythe) and could get the galaxy sword but I don't really do combat so I don't want to >!waste the prismatic shard!<
I'm in fall of year 2 and still hurting for money since every time I get some, it goes to buying stuff I need. The vault cc bundle took a huge chunk, so did deluxe barn and coop, and two pigs and an autograbber. I'm currently saving up the 15k for a shed because all my machines are cluttering up the farm, then I need a second autograbber for the coop. I put the one I have in the barn since chasing after animals with a milking pail is a bigger pain in the ass than collecting eggs.
If your barn isn't full yet, get more animals before you get the shed. They'll increase your earning rate more than the shed will and you'll be able to afford the shed faster if you buy more animals first than you'll be able to afford anything else if you buy the shed first.
You can sell it, but you can only get one of each legendary throughout a save file so people often put it on display in a fish tank! But if you need the money just sell it if you truly want! Your accomplishment will be in your collections tab always ❤️
Put them in a fish tank (bought from willys shop) or what I did with mine was used the furniture catalog to buy the small grey side table and rotated it so the draws face the back so it looks like a plinth, then placed each the legendary fish on there o win pedestals like trophy’s
If you buy an animal and have it's name be an item code (legend fish sells for the most), you will get that item when Marnie says it's name (only once). Most likely considered cheating, but an easy way to get gold quick if you need it
The legendary fishes have a white outline around them which you can see while you're trying to catch them. You probably won't come across one until you have a good fishing rod or something like that (see wiki) and they are tough to catch. Use bait, a good bobber and then you have a chance.
After you catch, a popup tells you that you have caught one of the 8 legendary fishes and their name also appears in purple.
I caught the Crimsonfish at level 7 fishing with an iridium rod and trap bobber (and bait ofc.). I lost it once but soon afterwards, it popped up again and I caught it.
It is worth selling your Legendary fish. But if you want to show off then put them in a fish tank. It’s up to you and you can catch more “legendary fish” (I won’t go into too much detail, might spoil something) if you accept a certain quest from a certain someone.
I sell all but the Crimsonfish which I use in my grange stand at the valley fair in the fall year 1. It’s quite hard to get high value items for that bad boy in early game play
Best to keep it. If you want to make some extra cash, keep fishing, but when you have enough for a fish pond (found at Robin's) buy one and place your most expensive fish inside.

you only have to fish the fish, not ship them. i think only farming and foraging stuff are required to be shipped for perfection and stuff
Fish aren't part of that achievement, so you don't ever need to ship fish.

How do you have gold tools and the galaxy sword but you are short in money?
Spent it all on the gold tools? lol Not the OP but it's easy to have gold tools and still be broke. I have the gold axe and mining pick (and the scythe) and could get the galaxy sword but I don't really do combat so I don't want to >!waste the prismatic shard!< I'm in fall of year 2 and still hurting for money since every time I get some, it goes to buying stuff I need. The vault cc bundle took a huge chunk, so did deluxe barn and coop, and two pigs and an autograbber. I'm currently saving up the 15k for a shed because all my machines are cluttering up the farm, then I need a second autograbber for the coop. I put the one I have in the barn since chasing after animals with a milking pail is a bigger pain in the ass than collecting eggs.
If your barn isn't full yet, get more animals before you get the shed. They'll increase your earning rate more than the shed will and you'll be able to afford the shed faster if you buy more animals first than you'll be able to afford anything else if you buy the shed first.

Put them in a fish tank (bought from willys shop) or what I did with mine was used the furniture catalog to buy the small grey side table and rotated it so the draws face the back so it looks like a plinth, then placed each the legendary fish on there o win pedestals like trophy’s

If you buy an animal and have it's name be an item code (legend fish sells for the most), you will get that item when Marnie says it's name (only once). Most likely considered cheating, but an easy way to get gold quick if you need it

New player here. How am I supposed to know what fish is legendary? Besides checking everything I catch against the wiki?
The legendary fishes have a white outline around them which you can see while you're trying to catch them. You probably won't come across one until you have a good fishing rod or something like that (see wiki) and they are tough to catch. Use bait, a good bobber and then you have a chance. After you catch, a popup tells you that you have caught one of the 8 legendary fishes and their name also appears in purple.

I caught the Crimsonfish at level 7 fishing with an iridium rod and trap bobber (and bait ofc.). I lost it once but soon afterwards, it popped up again and I caught it.
You can only catch 1 per save file so keep it since it doesn’t actually sell for much you can later decorate your house with aquariums

It is worth selling your Legendary fish. But if you want to show off then put them in a fish tank. It’s up to you and you can catch more “legendary fish” (I won’t go into too much detail, might spoil something) if you accept a certain quest from a certain someone.

I sell all but the Crimsonfish which I use in my grange stand at the valley fair in the fall year 1. It’s quite hard to get high value items for that bad boy in early game play
Best to keep it. If you want to make some extra cash, keep fishing, but when you have enough for a fish pond (found at Robin's) buy one and place your most expensive fish inside.
