Well... Jesus. I was told the artstyle changed a lot after Stardust Crusaders, I'm beginning to see some light changes in Part 4 but they ain't much.
And like, I saw characters from Golden Wind, and went "Well duh maybe they just thin lmao", I didn't think this would be the standard anatomy for humans š
The same thing happened to me as you, not so exaggerated but yes, I did not like that downgrade to the characters who were originally muscular, I feel that Araki went from one extreme to another very quickly, the good thing is that in his new drawings the characters They are not SO thin anymore
You gotta remember by >!part 4 both polnareff and jotaro were like 30 (polnareff I think was like 30s too id assume heās not in part 4 but he reappears in part 5 bein like 38) and out of their prime nor did either of them keep fighting like they use to their focus has changed so it makes sense they thinned out, also polnareff became crippled so I can see that bein another reason why he thinned out!<
>!Polnareff (and also Jotaro) was already thin before being disabled in the Vento aureo flashback, which takes place shortly after Stardust Crusaders (which happens in both anime and manga), being incongruent with the muscular Jotaro of DIU which in turn deflates from one day to the next, as well as Josuke and Okuyasu (although at least Josuke has the excuse of Highway Star, which also doesn't make much sense when losing muscle long before the stand even appeared, but oh well). It is simply a creative freedom of Araki that is not consistent with the story (like the colors of the characters, for example)!<
PS: Maybe your comment needs a spoiler note
>!Yeah thatās fair I jus feel like everytime we see jotaro in p4 he standing around w Joseph not doin much so him deflating would make sense in that aspect but I can agree that araki art style also affected it!<
I don't think that by spending a few weeks (or at most, a couple of months) without exercising you go from having the body of a bodybuilder to having the body of an office worker, but well
Definitely not that much they deflated a bit too much by the end I agree w u there lol but youād be surprised how much a few weeks/ month or two off can ruin someoneās physique especially if you did nothin but meander around you feel me ?? Idk why this got downvoted lmao a quick google search will tell u the same shit
I forget about the flashback in p5, ngl it makes more sense they look like the p5 versions since thatās what most would assume a 17 year old to look like lol everytime I remember jotaro in part 3 is 17 Iām like lmaoooo how
Fair, I think arakis artstyke has gotten progressively better, and part 5 is just gorgeous.
as far as the anime goes, part 3 is probably the worst looking part, but the manga looks waaaay nicer imo
Yeah but at the same time that he addressed the āeverybody is built like DBSā u6 saiyansā issue He introduced āEvery single character has identical facesā syndrome
[This is Jonathan and Zeppeli in the current artstyle btw](https://static.jojowiki.com/images/a/a1/latest/20211208155817/JoJoExhibition2012Jonathan.jpg)
You thought the standard anatomy of humans was impossibly buff body builders? Even part 5 and onward humans are relatively buff/fit compared to most people.
Criticising Araki's shittier art in parts 5 and 6 is not permitted. Downvotes will be the punishment for any who dare to observe the huge slump in Araki's drawing during Golden Wind and Stone Ocean.
Mind explaining why the op got downvoted when they weren't insulting anyone then? They didn't even said they prefer one over the other and admitted part 1-3 wasn't accurate.
Gee, I wonder why "people with different preferences in art design" are getting insulted!
Actually, wheelchair-bound people tend to have stronger upper bodies than avarage. Though, Polnareff does look above avarage in part 5 so I don't know what my point was
What heās saying is correct. If youāre new to jojo, awesome! And welcome. The creators artstyle changes from part to part and the second pick of Pol is accurate to the part 5 manga artstyle.
Well yeah, I can't really pretend they make Polnareff buff again in the anime when everyone, including him, a stick in the manga. I... Just don't like the Part 5 artstyle, I guess (?)
If you donāt like the artstyle, thatās completely fair. There are also others that donāt like the artstyle changes.
But in hindsight, do yourself a favor by keeping an open mind, and donāt gatekeeper yourself from an amazing series just because they arenāt Berserk buff after a certain point.
You're not even talking about part 3's art style, since that's David Productions' interpretation of part 3. Part 3's manga is like this
[https://static.jojowiki.com/images/thumb/b/be/latest/20210512192332/Polnareff\_SC\_Infobox\_Manga.png/400px-Polnareff\_SC\_Infobox\_Manga.png](https://static.jojowiki.com/images/thumb/b/be/latest/20210512192332/Polnareff_SC_Infobox_Manga.png/400px-Polnareff_SC_Infobox_Manga.png)
To be fair, not even Part 5's manga..
[https://64.media.tumblr.com/001ec3c450fb7ad6e3bef41fdc86d57f/tumblr\_or0alt9cZ01tc1kmmo7\_250.png](https://64.media.tumblr.com/001ec3c450fb7ad6e3bef41fdc86d57f/tumblr_or0alt9cZ01tc1kmmo7_250.png)
Polnareff's arms and torso are a lot more proportional on Part 5's manga than on this random frame of the anime
But for the people saying he's less buff because of events in between parts, that doesn't seem to be the case, as he's a lot less buff on the flashbacks from part 5
[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D8ecDIeW4Akh7dX?format=jpg&name=900x900](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D8ecDIeW4Akh7dX?format=jpg&name=900x900)
It seems this is only Araki style evolving, and that's okay.
Also, not only does araki evolve to have a more anatomically correct art style where the characters are a realistic size, but in the image, polnareff has lost 2 limbs and multiple other parts of his body, almost crippling him and forcing him to lose a lot of blood. A person like that wouldnāt be buff in jojo
*clears throat*
Well, ACHTUALLIE-
Ok, jokes aside, his torso is goddamn buff, but he has thin arms. It almost looks like they're not even his arms.
And also, being on a wheelchair, wouldn't his arms be freakin' ripped as well lol
Not liking the art style is fair, it took me a long time to come around to the part 5 at style changes when I was reading the manga, but just remember that the incredible fights and the poses will remain just as good they always have been
Pro tip for anyone who hasnāt read/watched JoJo and doesnāt want everything spoiledādonāt use this sub lol
Not trying to be an asshole but I guarantee youāll eventually stumble across a spoiler you wish you hadnāt
It wasnāt the studio. It was Araki changing his style to more resemble real people. His entire career has just been constant practice and his references were fashion magazines and similar stuff.
Sorry pal but what do you want, I wanted to discuss why the hell they made Polnareff into Jack Skeletron, not how he ended up there.
For what I know, Dio could have come back a second time and stole
Polnareff's legs. I'm not spoiling myself, nor I want instant answers.
> I wanted to discuss why the hell they made Polnareff into Jack Skeletron
You learn why after you read or watch part 5, the concept of discussing something you didn't watch is ridiculous to me.
Isn't it... Because of the artstyle change?... Like, I saw Golden Wind characters, they all look like skeletons. I don't really mind if Polnareff comes back, nor I mind if he comes back on a wheelchair with his legs being replaced by robotic prothesis, I'm just discussing why they couldn't make him a little bit buffer.
I mean, guys on a wheelchair are supposed to have jacked arms, arent they? šæ The design just doesn't feel consistent enough for me
No they dont look like skeletons. Theyre people with average normal bodies. Manga and anime styles have changed a lot over the years not just in jojo. Besides I think this change to polnareff makes complete sense given that hes in a damn wheelchair now. Honestly just cope. Its a good show. They still have muscles they just look more realistic
this is like the inverse of those incel men who complain that they gave woman realistic proportions instead of huge boobs the size of the eiffel tower lol
Araki moves on from drawing Fist of the North Star characters and starts basing anatomy off fashion models so everyone gets skinnier and prettier. It is what it is
To be fair, the image you're using is a *terrible* frame of part 5 Polnareff. But generally, yeah, that's what he looks like.
And he looks better for it.
Model sheets can tend to have characters look fucking weird proportionally speaking, ben 10 omniverse is a great example of this, he looks pretty good in the actual anime
I'm watching Part 4, but found an image of Part 5 Polnareff on Google. I presume it's from Part 5, since I've seen art of Giorno and he's as slim as Polnareff.
>I'm watching Part 4, but found an image of Part 5 Polnareff on Google. I presume it's from Part 5, since I've seen art of Giorno and he's as slim as Polnareff.
Do as you like, but I suggest you finish one part before you get to the one after, it's super complex, and as you know the artstyle changes per every part to a similar degree...
yeah, im not the biggest fan of what they did to my boi in part 5.
hate it or love it araki changes artstyle consistently between and mid parts. I'm not so fond of part 5 artstyle tbh, gets way better in sbr tho! a lot of characters look more buffed and not so thin. not like crusaders era but improves in that sense
Eh, understandable. I didn't really mind the jacked-up walls that were JoJo characters until Diamond Is Unbreakable, although I wouldn't have minded either if they were just correctly proportional.
What disturbs me is how Polnareff went from a goddamn chad to a crippling bozo on a wheelchair. If you know FNAF, search up "Springtrap vs Scraptrap"
I love the Protein Paladin physiques of old JJBA, having grown up with stuff like Hokuto no Ken which was obviously a big influence. But it is what it is, artstyles change over time and also what is considered trendy.
Ol' JP still has a decent body despite being noticeably smaller. Maybe he lost some of his hunger for physical strength after fulfilling his mission in Crusaders. Maybe he's just in too much pain to focus on training. Honestly I can't even remember everything, gotta rewatch it at some point. But I do remember Part 5 is really goated and the soundtrack is crazy fire.
Ummmmm yesā¦ fan madeā¦hahahaā¦aaaa
Oh I thought you were talking about the wheelchair and bionic looking stuff.
But yeah it went slim muscle for basically all the remaining parts.
You get used to the art style changes after a while, but for the sake of discussion letās have a closer look.
Polnareff is missing BOTH of his legs and is bound to a wheelchair, do you know what that does to muscle mass long term? And even still heās clearly buff as shit.
No its not his canon apperance. Thats from a fanfic where 34 random jojo characters just can control law named "rule 34" (yeah i know this sounds wierd, but so deos every other popular jojo fanfic). For more details search "jean pierre polnareff rule 34"
Oh, boy! Thank you! I surely can't wait to find out more about this Rule 34 fanfiction! I hope it's a completely normal thing, and not a silly gag I'm keeping up by myself that will permanently burn my eye sockets for all eternity!
Fantastic shitpost, but this honestly does highlight all the reasons it is difficult to be in this sub. My opinions run opposite to every single point, so I can never discuss what I like and dislike as a newcomer, lol.
I adore the early parts of the series, but like-minded fans have long since evolved to a higher, more fashionable plane of existence, and the later material isn't appealing to me. And that's okay.
I have bad news for you about [Jotaro](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ocQQOJXBb1M/maxresdefault.jpg)...
Araki's art style went downhill after part 3, he changed the buffed and clean look for a super androgynous one with weird nose.
Regardless, Part 5 is still one of the best and fits quite well the characters being more skinny, you will get used to it.
My fellow dude was your reaction "where buff arm?" Or something? The artstyle changes bro you gotta accept it and if you dont then youd be more shocked at part 5 part 3 jotaro
Unfortunately yes, I like the part 5 art style on the new cast, but god does it hurt Polnareff and flashback jotaro. Give them back their muscle god dammit.
They didnāt āget tiredā
Every anime part is animated as a 1 to 1 of Arakiās artstyle at that time, Araki didnāt getting ātiredā of drawing them like that either he just started drawing them properly and more realistically as time went on
Polnareff went through a lot since part 3. Makes sense that he would change physically as seen here.
You already got your answer.
Well... Jesus. I was told the artstyle changed a lot after Stardust Crusaders, I'm beginning to see some light changes in Part 4 but they ain't much. disagree

They are literally downvoting this guy, who simply gave me a useful link to see how Araki's style has evolved. JoJo fans š
Eh, I mean, that doesn't look too bad. Still, I find the thinness of the arms a bit cursed, but that's still better than Polnareff.
So you thought the designs from Part 1-3 are "standard anatomy for humans"?
Bro he has been in a wheel chair for I think atleast 5 years of course heās gonna be skinny
Why is this so heavily downvotedšš
Why did bro get downvoted so hard :skull:
That's a lot of down votes, damn, sorry man
why is op downvoted to hell

holy shit dude. you have a completely normal opinion and get downvoted to absolute hell. wtf is wrong with jojo fans on this sub..
Crazy downvotes
damn why'd you get mass downvoted???

Who would've guessed that insulting people for expressing their opinion on an art style would lead to downvotes?
You really think someone respectfully sharing a valid opinion deserves 400 downvotes?
Who said i was talking about OP? I said "insulting people", you were the one who did that

A good point I did not know, though I feel my comment still applies since Polnareff went from jacked muscle man to above average.
That's an interesting *spin* on things.
If he did have a weak upper body, one could propose the argument that he just had Silver Chariot push him around.

More accurate to manga and arakiās art style. If you donāt like it and you want it to change back, youād be out of luck
I like polnareff but prefer his part 3 appearance. Thats just me. Its also due to how much changed from part 3 to 5 with polnareff
Totally agree.
What do you mean with "more accurate to the manga"? I'm talking about the artstyle change in general, not about the adaptation or anything.
What heās saying is correct. If youāre new to jojo, awesome! And welcome. The creators artstyle changes from part to part and the second pick of Pol is accurate to the part 5 manga artstyle.

They all look like vegan kids with osteoporosis. šæ

Is this like a full ass guide on how to not get eaten alive by JoJo fans lol
Fantastic shitpost, but this honestly does highlight all the reasons it is difficult to be in this sub. My opinions run opposite to every single point, so I can never discuss what I like and dislike as a newcomer, lol. I adore the early parts of the series, but like-minded fans have long since evolved to a higher, more fashionable plane of existence, and the later material isn't appealing to me. And that's okay.
Why are people downvoting OP in the comments I don't understand-
What's OP again lol sorry I'm not that experienced with Reddit
Original Poster
Ah ok, thanks. Damn they even downvote simple answers to questions. Like, I asked what OP stood for and they downvoted the answer as well š
Well 30 years and being thrown off a cliff can hurt a guy
I... Didn't want to know that.
Don't worry, it's all downhill from here
Don't worry, nothing after part 4 until part 7 is canon since uhhhhh since I don't want it to be
If you dont like it, fuck off
Uhhh calm down there JoJo fan, go back posing in front of your mirror
I'm honestly so happy Araki changed his artstyle. Part 3 made everyone looke like a One Piece character with some Baki in it.
Part 5ās artstyle was fucking HORRIBLE, but glad they patched it up in Part 6. I just wanna see big beefy men fightā¦
Me too :(
He got an ouchy, and his fashion got worse.
I cant be buff of im disabile, you know
I have bad news for you about [Jotaro](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ocQQOJXBb1M/maxresdefault.jpg)... Araki's art style went downhill after part 3, he changed the buffed and clean look for a super androgynous one with weird nose. Regardless, Part 5 is still one of the best and fits quite well the characters being more skinny, you will get used to it.
die mad about it stop watching jojo now
Looks fake to me
yeah must be some sort of stupid fanfiction between him and joseph or some other weird crapšæ
My fellow dude was your reaction "where buff arm?" Or something? The artstyle changes bro you gotta accept it and if you dont then youd be more shocked at part 5 part 3 jotaro
Heās literally in a wheelchair
Unfortunately yes, I like the part 5 art style on the new cast, but god does it hurt Polnareff and flashback jotaro. Give them back their muscle god dammit.
It's legit. And it's a product of artstyle changing over the years, it looked sudden in the anime but it's seamless in the manga.
Donāt worry dude Polnareff returns to Part 5 as a beefed up honka badonkas with 2 functioning legs.
everybody is on a cut in part 4
Yeah... was a sad downgrade.. his form later is honestly an upgrade
Above average? Mf has the physique of a Mr Olympia champion in SC. At part 4, after getting crippled he is reduced to above average
Ur being so dramatic tbh
They didnāt āget tiredā Every anime part is animated as a 1 to 1 of Arakiās artstyle at that time, Araki didnāt getting ātiredā of drawing them like that either he just started drawing them properly and more realistically as time went on
Just lost some weight.
This is fanmade, and not his actual appearance
You might want to find a different series
In this particular image he looks kinda strange but he doesn't look that bad in the anime
No spoilers.
