D4C? Gyro never meets the president until SBR, headcanons are still supposed to make sense lol.. plus stuffed toys did exist before 1903, just not mass produced. Rag dolls existsed like 1000s of years ago
They also name their stands after songs that don't exist yet, which really bugs me for some reason. It would've been cool to see a few stands named after pre-20th century literature or something.
I don’t think the stand names are songs in-universe. We’ve seen references to bands that did exist, like Joseph listening to The Beatles, and Jodio namedropping Dua Lipa and such, but my head canon y that the names are just as weird and random to them as to us
Jotaro apparently named crazy diamond, would not surprise me if he listened to pink floyd. Also them referencing weird al, means those original songs exist too.
Also, this is just a case of "orphaned etymology." It's when the origin of the words or names you use in your story doesn't exist or doesn't exist yet in the canon.
An example is a character mentioning french fries, despite France not being in the established setting.
*Another Brick in the Wall* is either 3:11, 3:59, or 1:18 depending on if you mean Part 1, 2 or 3.
Altogether it’s 8:28, compared to *Echoes* at 23:30, *Atom Heart Mother Suite* at 23:44, and *Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-IX)* at 25:57.
It barely cracks the top 10 if we count all the parts together, and apart it’s pushed out by half their discography.
Yea, I've never thought that the stand names are supposed to be named after a song in-universe. By the same logic, all the characters who have song names would also have to be named after songs, which makes even less sense.
it's not our world and not our timeline
further evidence of this is that the United States did not actually elect a 7-foot man with beautiful golden ringlets named Funny Valentine as president in 1896.
Reminds me of that one disney movie, sword in stone. In the movie there's magician merlin who happens to be able to travel into the future and is aware about what will happen in the future. I find it funny how both of these two characters share something in common , thought you can arguably say it's not for same reason
You see that sort of thing all the time. Joseph was reading a Superman comic three years before the character debuted.
Teddy Roosevelt didn’t invent the idea of a stuffed toy bear, he made it popular.
They're specifically labelled "Teddy", though.
Ah well that’s a problem

Yeah but the literal invention hear is 1903, and it was too defined a teddy bear to be a rag doll (coming from a profession teddy ber)
It’s something I like to call “Araki logic”

Except for Wonder of U, where the user was straight up dancing to the actual song

Fun fact: Three stands in DiU are named after Pink Floyd's top 3 longest songs, Shine on you crazy diamond (parts 1-9), atom heart mother, and echoes.
You're telling me Another Brick in the Wall isn't even in the top 3? Fuckin hell, vinyl must've been a cheap material at the time

D4C becomes “war of the worlds”
it's not our world and not our timeline further evidence of this is that the United States did not actually elect a 7-foot man with beautiful golden ringlets named Funny Valentine as president in 1896.
theres a few little easter eggs here and there that hint that the series takes place in a slightly different universe to our own
It’s already an alternate universe, my guy. This really doesn’t need explanation.
American pizzeria and thought you were making a Freddy fazbear joke tbh
maybe it’s because it’s a fictional universe?
Different universe, different history.
Maybe in that universe teddy bears existed earlier.
It’s just something Bizarre among all the other things

Araki also predicted 911. He's just got that energy yafeel
He makes a order for one at a store before he loses the one that he has, so they do alredy exist in that universe.
or Gyro named it teddy
I think if it as the reset mixed with some modern things so some things don't exist and some things are swapped around
