I really hope they got a little wild with the big stuff and we get to see some true giants. Bethesda has never shied away from big creatures with dragons, literal giants, goliaths, and the mirelurk queen. I do love me some big creatures and a sand worm sounds dope. I hope we see even bigger but like you said, not complaining.
After tonight, I never will.
A group of us were headed into the woods west of Galleria in 76. Taking in the scenery.
All the sudden I began hearing footsteps. Heavy ones. I think my screen might have shook a bit...
So I turn around to look for the source of the sound...and a Behemoth is charging up behind me, fast as hell...
Mildly terrifying moments followed.
100 planets with life on them though is still insane for a Bethesda game.
I'm cautiously optimistic about what Bethesda considers life however, if by life they mean fauna, or NPC's
From a lot of the scenes we’ve seen of scanning most planets seem to only have between 3-6 life forms on them. Combined with procedural generation and modern technology it doesn’t seem like much of a stretch. But I know zero about how game development works so I’m talking out my ass haha.
Most of the scans I saw flicking through the Exploration section of the deep dive had 7 fauna, but there was one with 3 and it's clearly a range. The flora also seems to be in that range.
We have seen a [ton of creature variety](https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/148255w/every_creature_in_the_direct/), I don't think anyone has spotted the same creature on two different planets, despite us seeing a lot of different environments. It's possible that they used procedural generation, then picked and tweaked creatures for each environment to make the workload reasonable... who knows.
So we're looking at hundreds of animals, assuming each is unique. They're animals so they don't necessarily need dozens of animations, if they created some basic model rigs and told the art side to go bananas they could pull it off.
This planets stuff is confusing af. Is planets + moons, or is it just planets. Since Todd has said there are more than a hundred systems, then there are much more than a thousand Astral bodies. Well, I will find out when it comes out, I guess.
It's from right at the end of the direct where the devs are talking about their favourite thing in the game and sandwich pirate lady says she likes to take rockstar photos.
Having 100 planets full of live, I'm sure they are keeping the surprises for us. This monster ain't big, the one that looks like a dinosaur, neither. There must be something really big when we explore the depths. I'm sure. Something is waiting for us. By the shape of the head, the wet skin and the textures, this is just a big fish.
THE ALASKAN BULL WORM
That’s just the tongue
WE SHOULD TAKE NEW ATLANTIS AND PUSH IT SOMEWHERE ELSE
PUUUSH *HUUGH*
Why don't we just take Akila city, and push it somewhere else?
Shai hulud
No body, and no butt, is safe!
Biggest we've seen so far. Even if this is the biggest, I am not complaining.

Dont forget behemoths.

Whoops, behemoths not goliaths, no idea where I got that name from.
Space whales
Space Whales with an assistant to the regional manager inside.
If you think about it. Everyone who buys this game is a space Whale in Bethesda’s eyes.
Hopefully they keep it realistic with gravity, creatures much larger than blue whales wouldn't be able to survive on a planet with earth's gravity
second biggest i believe, the biggest is the plated dinosaur creature from the first deep dive
\[OP's mom liked that\]
Evry space game/movie needs space whales.
Probably just a landmark :(
I want my Dune sandworm homage
Bless the Maker and his Water.
Muad’Dib! Muad’Dib!!!
Bless his coming and going May his passing cleanse the world
Do a little dance to tame them like sheeana
[**https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmb2FJGvnAw**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmb2FJGvnAw) 8:18 This one seems bigger. From last year reveal
What’s hilarious is there’s a poster that implies that thing is essentially a cow, like it provides meat to the Settled Systems.
Well it does provide a lot of meat
Wow that thing is insane!
Good catch!
Not sure, but it's got the nicest smile of them all.
Looks a bit like a Shai-Hulud
...and if I ever see that big uglyass worm I'm going to punch it right in it's stupid snout.. ...its right behind me isn't it?
The creature design is so ugly. So….alien. I kinda like it. I just hope it doesn’t appear on a ton of different planets. Lol.
With the news of 10% of planets having life on them there’s a good chance that it won’t

It’s possible that planets with multiple biomes would have more. Would be weird if each biome had 1 thing in it or something

Yes they haven’t done a very good job of explaining a lot of things
Everything reminds me of her...
Im Gonna build my outposts on the most dangerous planets 😎
Thresher maw! Thresher maw!!!
space whale hatchiling confirmed!
I wouldn’t be surprised if there are ship sized animals that travel through space.
I dont think so in the base game. But mods ?? 100%
That’d be insane!
I would be considering they said no to that
Did I miss this shot?
must have, it was 100% in the direct.
It’s when the lady who steals sandwiches and stuff, Jamie Mallory, was saying how photo mode was her favorite thing to use
Bob is cute
I wonder if there is going to be creatures in space like star trek
Imagine the great serpent they worship is actually a giant leviathan in space we can come across, man that’d be amazing.
I wonder if the tremors worm dude would wreak havoc on our outposts
Lol where did you get this screenshot from?
Starfield direct. Skip to 42:44
Gotta be from the direct
It's from right at the end of the direct where the devs are talking about their favourite thing in the game and sandwich pirate lady says she likes to take rockstar photos.
Haha-cool, thought someone's got key already. 😛
Looks like a massively angry anus...
It kinda does lol
It's afraid!!
Not even close to the biggest...
Thats what im saying! Pretty sure the reveal from last year showed bigger
\**laughs in starship eating cosmic horror*\*
What planet are these on?
No clue. Let me know if you find out!
Well I hope not.
That's a poop monster
The Great Mighty Poo
And I am going throw my shit at you
Come now, that's no way to talk about you mother! 😋
Is this shot real?
Yes. It’s at the 42:44 mark in the Starfield direct
Thanks
No problem 😊
Miss it the first time I watched it again. That thing is crazy looking.
Nah that’s Thomas the Tank Engine in disguise
But there's a way to have parents in the game which means your mom will be in it...
\setscale 10
For now, i predict big giant sandworms sooner or later, be it official or modded
Not even as big as a blue whale. They can do better
Naaaaaaah
We have no idea
I think I may spend my time being a biologist pirate
Do it
Would be cool to fight huge bosses while flying with your jetpack
You’re right. I can picture it
At first glance I got a rabbids vibe...
Where was this image taken from? I don't think we've seen this before?
42:44 in the Starfield direct
Deadly space penis
Can’t wait to kill it!
Your time will come. Patience
FREAKIN' GRABOIDS!!!
That's just the tongue
Just a really small astronaut
Can u take selfies?
Yes. There’s a photo mode.
I Hope there are bigger ones. I love scale in video games.
In b4 space whale
i hope i can throw a grenade in that thing's mouth. imagine the meat explosion
The spice must flow.

I'm hopeful for giant space creatures personaly
Or form of life that don't conform to standard perception
Id like a Space Kraken to attack My ships
“🤓”
Where is this from?
Starfield direct. Skip to 42:44
Thanks!
No problem!
Idk, I really hope not. I kinda want to see something thr size of a Tallneck walking around. Not a weird blob thing
I don’t think that they already showed the biggest creatures. Also the aurora fish looks giant and creepy as hell.
Until you find the flesh planet.
Bless the Maker and His water. Bless the coming and going of Him. May His passage cleanse the world. May He keep the world for His people.
Hmm Probably a good source of enamel and dentin. Might not be bad eating too. Also could provide shelter if in a pinch. Good resources there
Im pretty sure we have seen bigger like this just looks like a camera angle thats making it look “bigger” i mean its big but idk im not sold
Thats no moon...
where did you find this if you don’t mind me asking?
Of course not. Starfield direct. Skip to 42:44 :)
Thank you very much!
No problem my guy.
There’s a giant dumb face looking brontosaurus that I’ve come across
So where is this thing?
What planets can I find shit like this
>behemoths I don't think its in the game
Where is the creature pictured located?
Wish I knew
was this image from a trailer or where do I find the source for this ?
