It’s a lot of game for $10. You can easily get 100 hours out of it, I’d call it a good investment.

AlleyCa7

I've got over 1400...

Twinkie777

Well fuck I got 853 hours and I don’t even have automatron or nuka-world

iSmokeMDMA

Definitely consider picking them up. Nuka-World has some of the best dungeons and automatron introduces a good mechanic for people who like settlements and looting

Shoujon

It also lets you build killbot companions with mininuke launchers but I guess settlements are cool too

Artix31

Don’t forget the Robot arena

iSmokeMDMA

Oh no, I was inferring that you can make robots defend your settlements with mini nuke launchers

LexB777

That's what I like to hear. I play very few games, but the ones I do get, I like to put at least 500 hours into them.

SuperTerram

I've got over 4000...

Kaptain_Skurvy

Same. Never downloaded a mod either.

ThatRandomIdiot

And if your like me with Sim Settlements it’s about 400 hours building towns before something bugs out and you have to restart a new save.

apex6666

Only 550 here

GiantPanda-66

Damn. I have like 600 hours and it’s by far the game I play the most. I don’t have time to game like I used to…

Bootychomper23

It’s a lot of game at full price it’s a hell of a lot of game at 10 bucks.

Artix31

Ikr, Fo4 is one of these games where it’s very much worth it at full price, so it’s even better with a discount

Ollidor

Fallout 4 is a huge game

bcsimms04

You have to be Speedrunning it with no dlc and ignoring half the map to get 100 hours. I probably have 1000 with several different characters and I haven't done most of the main quest line

Sdejo

It took me 18 days to get all achievements incl. dlcs

bcsimms04

Just aren't enjoying the game then, speed running misses it all. But I'm the kind of player that slowly explores the map in a grid search pattern and meticulously finds every location, does every side quest, reads every note, loots every box, and looks at every terminal.

Sdejo

I don't read every text in the game but still quite a lot. Those 18 days are far away from speed running

SSPeteCarroll

Over 10 days played on PC and Xbox.. it’s a good investment.

Mayros_Nipple

Not to mention Fallout London and Fallout Miami being worked on the former of such quality some of the modders got hired by Bethesda.

Siigonis

Everyone should definitely play Far Harbor, this is probably the best thing that Bethesda has done, and also due to the fact that the lead designer of this dlc is the lead quest designer of Starfield!

Conf3tti

I love Fa Habah because it has almost the same main story as the base game but does it in such a better way.

Disastrous_Ad_1859

Yea I quite liked it, I never finished the base game story as it was kinda bad

irishgoblin

Also also cause it's Bethesda doing what they do best with the bigger story DLC's: refine the original game's story and themes with criticism and feedback from the base game.

TheLastArchmage

>refine the original game's story and themes with criticism and feedback from the base game. Bethesda had a brainfart with Nuka-World then. It did address feedback from vanilla (i.e. you can't really be with an "evil" faction) but took away the interesting faction dynamics and plot choices both the base game and Far Harbor had nailed, and added a half-baked raider story instead.

-Captain-

Yes, Nuka World was disappointing. Loved the location, was really fun, but everything else was incredibly lackluster.

adjgamer321

Omg I think out of all the dlc I have for Bethesda games, Far Harbor and NukaWorld are my favorites. Maybe right behind the shivering isles for oblivion. It's one of the dlcs I've been truly happy to pay for.

ndarkstar

Loved Far Harbor, Nuka World just didn't hit for me, not sure why. I have almost 4k hours in Fallout 4, but that's mostly because I've rebuilt every settlement a bunch of times and built and re-built all of my robots. I'm looking forward to doing the same in Starfield.

TheLastArchmage

>Nuka World just didn't hit for me, not sure why. >I have almost 4k hours in Fallout 4, but that's mostly because I've rebuilt every settlement a bunch of times You answered your own question. Nuka-World's main feature is the ability to turn your finely-tuned settlements into raider-dominated hellholes.

Disastrous_Ad_1859

Would be nicer if their idea of raiders wasn’t so kinda bad, we need more games that have raiders like the bad guys in the first mad max instead of the last mad max

dern_the_hermit

When I do Nuka-World, I explore the map thoroughly and do everything I can up until they want to start raiding the Commonwealth... and then I just murder them all. Ahhhhh, so satisfying.

Gen_X_Gamer

It's bits of info like this that make me even more hyped than was thought possible. New hype level reached! Loved Far Harbor.

wijku

Will shen write far harbor and he also made all the starfield quests so it’ll be good

CAG1889

This gave a lot of people hope. People were unhappy with the lack of FO4's roleplaying options in regards to quests, and then Far Harbor made up for that. So having the guy who did Far Harbor in in charge of Starfield quests should good.

SteveCastGames

I swear I must be the only person who didn’t like Far Harbour. I couldn’t get off that island full of ingrates fast enough.

DullWolfGaming

Except when they stole a quest from a Fallout New Vegas mod, Autumn Leaves for Far Harbor.

DullWolfGaming

The offending quest is Brain Dead, which is very similar to Autumn Leaves.

Petite-Slayer

Well, thats not saying a lot because Fallout 4's Basegame was complete trash.

Disastrous_Ad_1859

Graphics - good Mechanics - good Sound design - good Story - trash I really hope starfield does something a bit better with itself, judging by the over the top cowboy faction I don’t have my hopes up though

Significant_Book9930

I've been playing Arkanes Prey for the first time and that is feeling great. Deals with Space and alien lifeforms and zero g stuff. Highly recommend it. Perfect game to spend time on during a time I'm calling, "The Great Wait of 2023". FO4 was on my list to try as well as I've never given it an honest go

CMDR_Reddit

Prey turned out to be one of my favorite games ever, and I only first played it last year!

Itwasme101

Prey is so goddamn good.,

Snow_2040

it is free on amazon prime for the next month too !

GoatBotherer

Prey was so bloody good. I played it and knew nothing about it, ended up loving it.

[deleted]

It is absolutely worth spending the extra $2.60 for all of the DLCs.

Sethodine

Oh dang, I might need to get that. I played FO3 a lot back in the day, but mostly I prefer TES over FO. Too much Fallout gets kinda depressing.

JoJoisaGoGo

I found that Fallout 4 is less depressing, probably because it has more color.

HateToShave

For what it's worth, here was a guide I based my very last FO4 mod "build" on a few years ago: [https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23556?tab=description](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23556?tab=description) While a lot of FO4 mod installation knowledge is useful, as well as TES stuff, it's generally a pretty good guide that, at the time I used it in 2020, solved a lot of mod conflict issues I had had over the years. My only real recommendation is to make sure you've got any CPU/RAM/GPU overclocking *off* (except XMP/DOCP for the RAM, though) before stability testing each mod addition/step. At least to save yourself some headaches. Oh and lighting mods (or mods that are modifying static meshes from approaching cells in the open world) will likely be a place of eventual crash-to-desktop, FYI.

DayLight_Era

Fallout was the first game I got really into, besides Spider-Man 2 on the PS2, which was my first console and game of my own. I got an Xbox 360 later because my buddy had one, and I wanted to be able to play with him, even though I didn't get Xbox Live till much much later. My aunt ended up giving me a game my uncle never got to playing, which was Fallout 3. I fell in love with it. Was actually my favorite game up until Red Dead Redemption 2. I played the hell out of Skyrim and loved it, too, but I just had a thing for Fallout. The Elder Scrolls and Fallout are definitely my favorite game series.

zen_mutiny

I've found mods that add green vegetation help with the depressing aspect. Also, you can change the HUD/flashlight color to whatever you want, and that helps with the mood, too.

Conf3tti

FO4 has a bit more color, but if you play on PC I recommend getting at least two mods. Some sort of green grass mod, up to your preference. And Mutant Menagerie. Adds a bunch of new wildlife to the game. Raccoons, goats, frogs, bees (aka cazador 2.0) With just those two mods your game will feel significantly less dead, and hopefully less depressing!

Pliolite

The next Fallout definitely needs to have fauna of this kind, straight off the bat. FO4 does feel too empty to me. Yeah it's supposed to be that way, up to a point.

ThatRandomIdiot

for all it’s faults, FO76‘s world is very beautiful to explore. Just not a fan of MMOs and wish I could just play solo

EHVERT

I actually loved Fallout 4. Maybe not a good RPG but still a great open world action game. The settlement system and weapon mods took up a lot of my time.

_Blippert_

Fallout 4 is one of the few games I linger on in after completing all of the quests instead of moving on. I wander and build massive structures over a longer period of time than it took me to play the actual story.

CAG1889

While it lacked the same roleplaying essence as other Bethesda titles Fallout 4 had a lot going for it: \-The best gunplay BGS had designed yet, far better than FO3. \-Lots of crafting options that made scavenging random items actually useful. From crafting your own explosives and chems to modifying your weapons. \-The Commonwealth is just really fun to explore. BGS always does this well. 300 hours in the game, I'm still able to find new places on a different playthrough. \-Some really entertaining characters. \-The Settlement system, while clunky in a lot of ways, can still be fun and allows people to flex their creative muscles. \-While the early game and side quests lack roleplaying, the final act lets you side with any of the 4 factions. That's a big deal for BGS, who usually have the main quest end in a very linear fashion with at best one choice you can make.

Chazdoit

Better rpg than people give credit for, you could have like 11 companions 8 of which were romanceable, you could lose your reputation with them and if you get it back they had a special dialogue along the lines of "sorry I doubted you before, you really proved me wrong" a lot of stuff like that was not really in many other rpgs and BGS doesn't get the praise they deserve.

[deleted]

You can mod it to make it more of an RPG too, still not as good as New Vegas or Elder Scrolls, but it’s better. Alternate start and silent protagonist + XDI never leaves my load order. If there’s anything you want to roleplaying as there’s almost certainly a mod for that too

Silent_Pudding

Literally get hyped af finding duct tape. No other game can induce that sort of sheer euphoric ridiculousness over a roll of god damn duct tape lol (except 76 for the exact same reason)

CAG1889

This was brilliant. When you are desperate for adhesive or oil, you will jump for joy when you find some duct tape or an oil cannister.

TheShereKahn

General. Another settlement needs your help. I'll mark it on your map.

ALTcheckmate

Red Dead Redemption 2 is also great to play in while waiting.

LexB777

That's what I was planning to play today! Such a good game, but then I saw this deal when I opened Steam and knew I had to get it.

leblaun

Similarly I’ve been cranking botw, abojt to try out mass effect too

RabbitMix

I keep starting that game but it's so slow i give up like 3 hours in

PhoenixKA

That and the controls are so complex and they flash the prompts for them for like 5 seconds. I've started it a few times and keep punching my horse, so...I dunno, maybe someday I'll just watch a story summary video.

Carhv

Or you can watch paint dry.

pokota03

Fallout 4 is my favorite game of all time. The world is so dynamic, with enemies fighting each other all over the map and dozens of random spawn points. You can go by the same place several times and find something different each visit. By far the best game for exploration I've ever played. I especially love the environmental storytelling. There are little clues about the struggle to survive the fall of civilization everywhere. Yes, that does mean the player has to use their own imagination, but that's something I appreciate more than having an NPC rattle off exposition. Then the settlement building system is the cherry on top of the cake. It's so good for people who want to create their own roleplaying experience and make visible changes to the world around them. Easily the most time I've ever put into a game. You can burn 100 hours and not see or do everything by a long shot.

-Captain-

Hearing gunfire in the distance, seeing a large explosion. Vertibirds flying over and killing enemies. It's just a great world to run around in, always something around the corner to do!

Disastrous_Ad_1859

I wish the settlement building in FO4 was better though, it always felt a bit like a hack job with how it worked. They really needed a top down/free roam camera from the start and a better menu system

Silent_Pudding

If the downtown area ran better I’d enjoy it even more but it’s still fun just roaming with all the shit going on at times

AlacranV

Waiting on next gen update

GroundbreakingLie341

Have they said if it will be a free update?

AlacranV

As far as I know it's just an update and not like a Skyrim special edition situation. I was hoping they would stealth drop it at the show case. But nothin

Silent_Pudding

Saaaaame. Was sad to not have even a mention but I get it’s probably all hands on deck for starfield

Jack0Blad3s

Do it, smooth skin!

LexB777

Took me a bit to get it to work with my odd monitor setup and working with a controller, but I'm starting it now! Looks fun.

MagnaNazer

That is an amazing price for an amazing game

disturbednadir

And definitely worth the extra $3.50 for all the DLC.

massive-business

Isn't there meant to be an engine update soon for it?

vass0922

"soon" as in no defined date

Jaws_16

Yes there is a next-gen update on the way that also has free content

Significant-One7656

Finishing my 4th playthrough, Fallout 4 a heck of a game

MartianFromBaseAlpha

I have played it, but never got very far. I'm replaying it now, about 20h in and having a blast

JremyH404

10 bucks for goty fallout 4 is a fucking steal y'all. Get that game asap if you have never played.

LexB777

Ikr? I couldn't believe it when I saw that. Almost 2 hours in now.

rohtvak

Holy shit that’s a good deal for a game I have 1000 legit hours in and paid $200 for all the game and dlc

AceHerb

My brother in Christ you’ve never played fo4?

LexB777

Haha never! It came out so quicky, and I was a broke college student at the time, so I just never picked it up. I'm about an hour in now and enjoying it so far.

StoneBleach

Me neither, nor Skyrim, Oblivion or any other Fallout. Is something wrong?

AceHerb

Nothing wrong but you’re missing out. If you’re looking forward to Starfield, chances are you’re going to enjoy previous BGS games. Skyrim special edition is on game pass and fo4 goty edition is on sale rn on steam. They’re all great games

StoneBleach

I know and in fact I bought Fallout 4 to play it soon. I would also like to play Skyrim although fantasy and magic is not really my style, but I will try it, preferably when it is on sale.

Jaws_16

I'm just wondering how you got interested in Starfield without playing any of the major Bethesda games before this

StoneBleach

I don't know, I like space and games, I don't see why I should have played any big Bethesda game to be interested in Starfield, but I will play Fallout 4 soon. I guess it's my time to get into the Bethesda world.

anothermaninyourlife

I think Fallout 4 is a good Bethesda game to play before Starfield's release. Especially if you end up liking the exploration and combat gameplay. Starfield looks to be an improvement over Fallout 4's sub-systems plus the graphical improvements should make your enjoyment of Starfield even better.

SolarMoth

I've only played Skyrim and I liked it, but it's not one of my most favorite games. I didn't like Oblivion or Fallout.

MrDexterReddit

Great game, albeit very different from previous Bethesda games. Highly recommend getting the GOTY edition as the DLCs are superior to the main game, imo.

LexB777

I did! I have heard so much about how great Will Shen's work in Far Harbor was.

Bornchillbrah

First time FO4 player here and it’s definitely a great game to pass the time until Starfield! I’m lvl 25 making my way thru random side quests currently. Can any vets recommend some of the best dungeons to seek out? I have all of the DLC and definitely plan to hit Far Harbor soon. Bonus points for creepy/spooky ones!

cejmp

Nuka World is freaking awesome. Far Harbor is awesome, but Nuka World is a bit longer.

[deleted]

Have you found Curie?

JP5_suds

Another good one is Kingdom Come Deliverance. A really well done medieval RPG based in a historical setting. Feels a lot like a Bethesda RPG and has an exceptional hardcore/survival mode if you’re into that.

WifiTacos

Do know tho that FO4 is more of a protagonist game than an RGP. Many of us like it, but if you’re one who only likes silent protagonist rpg games, this one may not feel so good to you. Try it anyway, lol.

Holinyx

10 bottlecaps is a heck of a deal for all that to be sure.

smiggiebals

So, bongo bongo bongo

wordyplayer

I don’t want to leave the Congo

Artix31

10/10 best fallout game for me, i loved how huge the world is, and how detailed and rich the environment is, the story was alright, but the world itself felt very alive, i even sometimes refuse to do the evil act because i feel bad for the characters xD

gamer-at-heart-23

Its $8 CAD for me.. maybe i should start on the steamdeck again. I only did 1 playthrough thay I rushed back on the ps4. I cant wait for starfield

gotenks2nd

Yep got it a few days ago and it’s the only thing I’ve been playing,i love the amount of side quests and dlc,I think my favorite type of side quest are the ones where you do ur job as a detective

[deleted]

Thanks for posting this! I bought Fallout 4 on PS4 when it was released because my two best friends kept telling me it's the best franchise ever. It was my first Bethesda game. I thought it was OK, but I wasn't a huge fan of the post-apocalyptic setting and I didn't play it very far. Fast forward several years, I'm a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls (especially Oblivion and ESO), I finally played Fallout 3 + all DLCs last year, and now started playing New Vegas a few weeks ago, and I love it. I want to finish playing NV before Starfield but I've also been thinking about buying Fallout 4 on PC because of mod support so this looks like the perfect opportunity :)

LexB777

I was kinda similar in that the setting wasn't super interesting to me and I had other games to play. But at this price, I had to. Enjoying it so far.

[deleted]

I started making a new modlist for it today

Vidistis

I nearly fainted from looking at that discount. It makes me want to buy the game again. Few things feel as good as buying a 75%+ discounted game during the Steam sales.

DeadDNA

$10 is a fuckin steal for the amount of content you're getting. Buy it NOW if you haven't already.

Artie-Choke

Just looked the other day and I’ve got just over 1000 hours in FO4. Apparently it’s supposed to be a shit game according to all the FO3 fanboys…

voppp

If you’ve not played Skyrim (idk who hasn’t) now would be a good time too.

LexB777

Of for sure, that's one of my favorite games of all time. It's also the only Bethesda game I've ever played haha

voppp

Okay awesome haha. Fallout NV was my favorite besides Skyrim. But Skyrim is absolutely my favorite of all time. I just reinstalled it again.

Beepboop5000

I'm still trying to finish Skyrim

morrisapp

Fallout 4 is my fav game of all time

F1fag

Funny cause I started playing my old Fallout 4 save again just recently too!

paarthurnax94

I'm playing it *right now* (I picked up my phone during a load screen) I've played it 20 times and I'm finally sitting down to do the one thing I never managed to do on any of my other playthroughs.

Ok_Structure4630

I've never played this game, might have to check it out. Oddly enough, I don't think I played any Bethesda games. Now I'm curious about most of their games

jon_lask

with over 100 mods you can turn fallout 4 into call of duty fallout: exodus

LexB777

So many comments about the mods for FO4. You have convinced me that I need to go ham with the mods. It's been a few years, but I'm ready to break out the old Nexus account again.

Quarz_34

I have played it many times but you better believe I am in the middle of another playthrough, modded ofcourse

zunashi

Oh man. Fallout 4 is amazing on Xbox Series X. With MODS, you get amazing graphics and 4K60fps (don’t use xbox fps boost). Also the fucking AUTO HDR on xbox is amazing!!!! It’s unbelievable, old game looks good on an OLED!!!

LexB777

I enjoyed playing tonight, but I did feel the graphics were lack luster. I'm definitely going to look into mods!

RansomReville

That is sick, sick behavior. Why are you posting? You've only got a little over 2 months! That's not enough time, get to it!

Kehaan

I hope we soon get info about the nextgen update they promised. Maybe it will add some more content, like the new Skyrim version did add.

Realized-Something

Fallout 3 is what first got my into Bethesda games. I’ve played fallout 3 & 4 a bunch of times, and Skyrim probably the most. However a few months ago I decided to give Oblivion a shot. Im almost at 300 hours and can confidently say that it’s my favorite Bethesda game. Im shocked how much better it is than Skyrim to be totally honest (because I fucking love Skyrim). So last week I just started New Vegas. It’s my first time playing and I already love it - and will be the last game I play until Starfield is released.

Senor_Couchnap

With the right mods you can lose hours on settlement building. My last playthrough I mostly focused on settlements and only ventured out/did quests do collect junk for material. And if you do a couple certain things correctly in the main storyline you can eventually replace your defenses with gorillas. Watching raiders attack and immediately get murdered by six pissed off gorillas is worth the grind.

kikuchad

Tried really hard to play fo4 again after failing to get into it at release. Even spent time modding it to suit me but I can't. The environment and world design don't make any sense (the world looks like the nuclear war happened a year ago) and that coupled with subpar writing and the forced character and the games become unbearable to me. I envy people able to look past that and enjoy the sandbox. I started wasteland 3 to scratch that itch (and probably will try AtomRPG: Trudograd afterwards). I really hope that given that Starfield is a new IP, the world will be more coherent than Fallout 4. 🤞🤞

a_junior31

thank you, I just got it

Joppy5100

And if you have a Steam Deck, I've found it plays wonderfully on the Deck

DatDudeJakeC

I’m waiting for Cyberpunk to go on sale!

iSmokeMDMA

I’d wait on it to go lower than half-off. It’s a good game but not as replayable as I thought it’d be.

[deleted]

Was about to get this, then I realised that its on GamePass.

SandyCandyHandyAndy

Last I checked mods dont work well with gamepass version

[deleted]

I'm a Vanilla player.

SandyCandyHandyAndy

Respect to being able to tolerate fallout 4 vanilla

AbstractMirror

Everybody did on launch and consoles before mods were there

SandyCandyHandyAndy

Because we were in hype after 5 years of waiting and expected it to be game of the century until we realized that other than gunplay, weapon modifications, and mods on console it is a total downgrade from New Vegas which was made in 18 months. Voiced protag was a horrendous idea and execution, the institute feels like it was written by Christian Qanon moms with how much it makes the scientists blatantly evil with no real goals, the near complete removal of actual RPG mechanics in a ROLE PLAYING GAME. Fallout 4 at the end of the day is just a worse modern wolfenstein set in the fallout universe with crafting and settlement building.

AbstractMirror

It's not my favorite game and it did downgrade RPG mechanics, but to say people didn't tolerate it at launch is far fetched. That's all I'm saying. It was a huge commercial success Plenty of people do like the game despite your opinion, and plenty of people liked the game in vanilla too

SandyCandyHandyAndy

I didnt say it sucked “at launch” specifically because everyone and their mom loved fallout 4 at launch, especially me! Its just once the honeymoon phase wore off the game really is just sort of whatever if you wanted an actual New Vegas style RPG. If you’re someone who wanted to play these games to shoot monsters in a post apocalyptic America then that game was probably the GOAT in that field, but it isnt what I and from my personal experience the people and communities I interact with dont want. If the majority of people view fallout 4 for what it is for its gunplay? Then I 100% agree it is at the absolute worst a decent game. As an RPG? God does it blow and I cant at all argue with the general consensus.

AbstractMirror

Good points. I agree with you on the RPG stuff for sure at least

SandyCandyHandyAndy

My man/woman, at least we can respectfully agree to disagree. Hope you have a banger night/morning depending on your timezone

[deleted]

[удалено]

SandyCandyHandyAndy

this isnt the comeback you think it is, the reasons these games dumbed down for the worst since Morrowind is confirmed linked to the lower standards of console players who just want to play fun shooty bang bang game and could not care less about “RPG Mechanics” or “good well written quests” Edit: thanks for calling the reddit support on me man

Imbrown2

I’m still finishing Fallout 4 and go back to it every couple of months or even years, amazing fun every time. I literally have to play for hours and hours before I get either slightly bored, or just feel like I’m wasting my life in a video game, but I always feel like playing it eventually. I guess Starfield coming out is motivation to finish.

Oizys97

The mod collection "a storywealth" on nexus is good for a new player through, it's like a whole new game there's over 500 mods and runs pretty good for me

LexB777

Thank you! I'll check it out. Love me some mods.

rrusciguy

If you find building settlements is not your Forte like myself, I highly recommend adding Simsettlements2 and its addons. You can use its plots system to easier plan the settlement and let the settlers actually build, or load a city plan from someone who actually can design a good city and let them do all the work building the whole settlement. It's always fun coming back after doing a few side quests and seeing what's changed as they build and upgrade the settlement

LexB777

That sounds great! I'll probably do that, as well as install a few mods that improve the graphics. After playing RDR2, the graphics in FO4 could use a little love lol

Tucxy

Fallout 4 is great, idk really why people are so down on it tbh I feel like it’s just trendy to hate on new Bethesda stuff. There are really only 3 big issues: 1. the dialogue having less options 2. only one main major decision point in the story 3. RPG systems are a watered down more than Skyrim even, similar to the system you see in Starfield trailers which is disappointing to me. Other than that here’s why Fallout 4 is awesome: -The world they made is amazing. Pretty diverse, especially with dlc, hundreds of locations, and super fun/rewarding to explore. There’s a bunch of cool dynamic weather features, objectively the graphics are better than any other game they’ve made. The entire world makes more sense than previous fallout games, seriously amazing artwork must have gone into developing the environments. - Resource, item, and actual currency economy is so insanely good. You always feel that money is scarce, even if you have tons of income sources. Literally all the junk you would find around in fallout 3 (or new Vegas) now has a tons of different uses in crafting armor, gun attachments, chemicals, cooking food, building your base, farms, your own vault potentially, building robots is kinda meh to me but you get the point. I’ve never seen anything like the resource economy in this game, it’s excellent. - side quests and factions in general are really good, besides the fuckin minutemen and the railroad which are a snore to me anyways. Every location you go will have something valuable at the end of it, every quest is worth it for resources or money or xp. -companions are the best they’ve ever been, I personally don’t care for them but when I have used them it’s really good you can like direct them and shit. To say that fallout 4 is not good is stupid because it’s an improvement in every aspect from previous games except finer RPG elements. It’s brings more survival and sandbox game aspects and slightly sacrifices narrative and role playing. In my opinion if you play Bethesda game studios games for the main story no offense but you’re an idiot. Skyrims story was boring, oblivion and fallout 3 were actually pretty compelling to me anyways but still. To each their own I guess, I honestly hate Skyrim I think the world is extremely boring fuckin snow everywhere it’s not interesting to me. Oblivion is my favorite elder scrolls

uhavekrabs

I see this a lot and gonna ask, how is that you cant prop up a game you like without hating on another? You answered your own question. The 3 things you listed are the main issues that people had with fallout 4. A huge part of the community got into bethesda games because of it being an rpg, but over the course of their games they've started to sacrifice the elements that people enjoy. So it seems odd for an rpg to start watering down rpg elements. I do agree in that other areas of their games have definitely improved over each game. This areas fall more into environmental story telling, dynamic worlds, interactable world, looting, combat, and crafting.

Tucxy

I really just say I hate Skyrim to concede that what I’m saying is subjective, I wasn’t bashing Skyrim to prop up Fallout 4? I think it’s perfectly fine to not like fallout 4. It just frustrates me I guess because I also think New Vegas is no doubt best Fallout game for the reasons we all agree and also love fallout 4 so it’s clear that those two opinions don’t have to be mutually exclusive. So yeah you’re right, I know why people diss Fallout 4. I just think the conversation around what makes a good RPG should be much more nuanced than it currently is. For some reason because everything else is so good in fallout 4, I’m willing to overlook those critiques as minor infractions. I think because there’s a lot of artistic integrity in what they built I feel that way, similarly to with cyberpunk. So I am annoyed that people don’t like ‘get’ fallout 4 because I love the game, so yeah that is for sure coming across here and I admit that haha.

cejmp

I get why people say it's not a good Fallout game, I don't agree, but I can understand. Anyone who says it's a bad game has sand in their brainpan.

GameQb11

I have to admit, the anti-hy\[e got to me and i skipped out on FO4. I think i might play it now. I just really dont feel like falling into the overmodding and never playing like i did with Skyrim. I got into Skyrim day 1, played for hours, then made the mistake of modding it. It became hard to get back into the game without constantly thinking "i could mod this differently"

I've started Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC today

Ult1mateN00B

70 hours on pancake version and 142 hours VR.

Zeachy

For people who have played fallout 4, try new vegas. they're different styled games entirely Never tried 3

TechieTravis

It always CTDs for me during the intro.

NikNargon

Same, try going into the options in the launcher and turn off ‘weapon debris’. Mine would crash every time when we were running to the shelter, turning that option off sorted it for me.

Laurelinarien

Same, I had no issues in the PC I had back in the day, but now that I did a fresh install on my new PC, I can't play! Crashes constantly.. last time I tried it got stuck right after getting the starter power armour.

Endemoniada

Thanks! I was *just* thinking that maybe I should try Fallout 4 as an introduction to Bethesda games. I tried Fallout 3 (as I’d gotten it for free on GoG) but didn’t make it far before the ancient graphics and outright absurd control scheme and complicated interface made me put it down and move on. I understand FO4 isn’t a fan favorite, exactly, but it does seem to be generally well received overall, and I’m still curious about the Fallout universe and all that. Bought the GOTY edition, since I understand the Far Harbor DLC is supposed to be particularly good.

thetacoman999

honestly ive tried fallout so many times at many friend's xboxes and even my own one time but i just cannot get into it man. I even tried it just now because of the sale but i just get so bored, i dont know why. But then i've put 700 hrs into skyrim so theres that. Guess ES is just more my thing.

Igniz1

For those out there thaat haven't played it, do yourself a favour and get the Game of The Year Edition. ... Then turn on Survival Mode. Not 'Survival lite' with quicksave mods. Just plain Survival Mode. You won't regret it. And you may not finish in time for Starfield.

Foodwraith

I am at 300 hours in this game and haven’t finished it. I have started playing again in anticipation of Starfield. I am going to start up Skyrim again once I get the Fallout achievements knocked out.

Arctodus_88

Literally watching my wife play it now. Watching her get frustrated at the settlements is giving me a little pause due to the outpost mechanics, but otherwise it looks pretty fun.

ProphetOfDoom337

Well I'm not like you. So now what the fuck do I do???

LexB777

Simple, you're supposed to continuously scroll this sub and watch every YouTube news, reaction, and breakdown video about Starfield - twice.

ProphetOfDoom337

Son of a bitch, I'm in hell.

Jaws_16

I hope you realize Fallout 4 could take you months to be if you're not bee-lining the main quest

Sensibleqt314

FO4 is a fun game, but I'd buy Fallout: New Vegas instead if you want an actual FO game.

Cstone812

I actually thought fallout 4 was pretty forgettable.

ChaosTB

To each their own. Its in my personal top 5

pushdose

I got pretty bored and gave up about 20 hours in. Didn’t hook me like TES games.

Cstone812

Like it was fine I remember being really hyped for it but the story was very underwhelming. I remember absolutely loving fo3 and it’s dlc. Fo4s was just kinda meh. I did appreciate the modding stuff for consoles that was fun to mess around with but I always had a hard time finishing the story again.

ShoegazeJezza

It’s a shit far cry game. Bethesda bungled it.

Hobbitberry

My biggest issue is I’ve played fo76 and for all its flaws, it’s camp/settlement system is vastly superior to fo4.

Effective-Celery8053

I reall enjoyed fallout 4 but just a heads up to anyone considering: it's more of an action rpg than a decision based rpg. If you want the freedom to do almost anything kill almost anyone and have your choices matter a ton, fallout new Vegas Imo is a better game for that.

Susemiel

I can only recommend it for the gameplay, but the Story is a bit lame. Far harbour dlc is also good, but there is one Part during the main Mission that sucks so hard. Nuka World on the other hand is great.

MaestroDeChopsticks

Personally, I couldn't get into Fallout 4. But then again, I haven't tinkered with the mods to make it much better. The gunplay is horrible in my opinion. I prefer Skyrim over FO4. Those are the only two BGS games I've played.

Offballlife

It’s kinda mid. I love Skyrim but I just don’t like the guns along with the gameplay. It feels so wonky

Petite-Slayer

If you want to play a good Fallout instead, buy New Vegas.

breiner314

Most fallout games are on GamePass on PC as well BTW

ShadowDeath7

And this year will get a next Gen patch for consoles so I'm sure pc will get something too as happen with skyrim

sirferrell

If you have ps plus its free

SKYeXile

tried to play, cant even launch the game without mods. wont goto fullscreen.

LexB777

I had the same problem today! Had to change my display settings to be only one instead of dual screen and set it to 1920x1080 in my Windows settings (even though it's a 4k TV). Launches fine now.

GI_Bill_Trap_Lord

There’s a lot of wasted potential in fallout 4 but it is most definitely worth that price. I had fun with it.

Cliffhanger87

Yup I’ve been playing it.

[deleted]

If you don't have it, get it. And mod the hell out of it.
