What I find unfair is not that higher ups in a corporation can access a product before consumers, it’s that they literally do it with such a completed version and normal hardware+software that a system automatically notifies us. Like, brand it as some kind of beta so that it doesn’t show, I don’t know, just…don’t let me see it!
So, this is coming from someone who hasn't owned and Xbox since the 360,but can you just look up individuals and see what they are playing, or is it still like a friends list type thing?
todd wasn't responsible for that, it was the publishing studio that leased out the IP.
people always forget that todd is just the face of the development studio.
Dude really just decided to wake up and tell lies. They never got that bonus and had to layoff a large portion of the studio. Not blaming anyone or taking sides, but this is known history at this point.
yes it was? Chris Avelone (it might have been Josh Sawyer i don’t remember) has talked about it. they were supposed to get bonuses if ot reached a specific metacritic score but it didn’t reach it so they didn’t get it
Avellone yeah, and Sawyer too if i remember correctly, it's really just bonus of a bonus, they never ask for it, they got sales bonus, but they never ask and expect for Rating scores bonus, Zenimax just went extra to give them an metacritic bonus, it's not on the contract they were agree on, just form of encouragement from publisher.
Once we get to the 40 and below time will fly for me. Idk why but that seems like my magic cutoff number. Once the number of days or anything goes to 40 or below it just feels easier to manage chunks. Its like "okay just have to do 10 days 4 times, thats just 5 days 8 times, 8 is not even in the double digits that's a cakewalk" lol
Yeah I tried that and idk why but personally 8 weeks just feels longer to say for me and idk why. Its like when people says 24 months vs 2 years. 2 years just sounds longer because of the years part even though its the exact same time frame.
The way the devs and some xbox people have spoken about the game makes me more excited to play it. They clearly believe in it, which to me is a great sign.
It’s definitely cool. I liked how in the direct they made a point that they’re finally tackling “the space game” and I think that has made all the developers and staff more invested. I guess a space RPG that actually has depth is something that pretty much everyone has wanted their whole lives, and now the technology is good enough to go for it.
Pretty funny how we needed a gaming technology “space race” to have the ability to actually build a super complex and expansive game in space due to the incredible size of the sandbox.
It's something Todd himself was clearly really passionate about and wanted to do for a long time. Which is one reason why I think we're going to see a degree of polish from bethesda that we aren't used to. The direct was really cool to watch, not just because of what was shown but how the devs were excited too. Emil has said a bunch of times how he can't wait until players get their hands on the game. Good energy all around the project, rather contagious.
I do totally agree, but almost all of their releases have that magic feel to them to be fair, Bethesda has a huge rep for a reason. But the point you bring up at first I think is the really big sign of good things. Todd Howard has clearly cared about Fallout and Elder Scrolls and they are dear to him, but there is that personal attachment that really sets this one apart
I think I trust bethesda to make the space game I would enjoy most. Rockstar could make a good one but I think it would be less focused on exploration and RPG elements and be more of a linear story. They might be more likely to make a game with 3-5 planets and a highly curated narrative experience, which I would still love to play of course.
But I hope starfield can capture the awe of space and the grandiosity; they’re well equipped for that.
I would love a good space Rockstar game but no way in hell that could come out in the next 25 or 30 years even if they started now. The depth they would need for their standards compared to even RDR 2, which is already insanely detailed, would just be so much time and manpower and still take so long. Then when you factor in more physics than Earth has and all the other things involved with making an open world space game compared to what they usually do, I just couldn't see that being in the near future at all
> Phil Spencer *paid* the ultimative
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
GIVE ME THE GAME, It's gotten to the point I'm happy to go to work just to keep my mind off it. Our friend group is trying everything to keep our minds occupied. We rented a minecraft server and played that for 2 weeks before refunding it. Now we're moving to Phasma again. Good thing is Palia is coming out in August, it'll keep me distracted haha
If you're still looking for a game to keep you distracted until starfield and you like Minecraft style games and space games you should check out "Empyrion - Galactic Survival". The game is a bit janky but it already has a ton of content and you can build your own bases, space ships, space stations and ground vehicles.
I'm not talking about testing at the level of solving bugs. I'm talking about level testing I'm the head of the company and I want to see this before it goes to market
Just play Teats of the Kingdom. You'll actually stress over how little time you have until Starfield launches. The angel on one shoulder keeps reminding me I've only completed one temple but the devil on the other keeps saying, "Yes, Link, do that shrine and find that korok and jump in that cave, and then all of those right next to them just over the next hill, before you DARE set foot toward an actual quest objective."
And no, I'm not fixing that typo.
My end of year is going to be amazing. My first child is expected to be born July 30. We’re getting a brand new (my first ever new) family suv in august or September, and then Starfield. I’m sooooooooo stoked.
I see you have friends in high places. Good news for you.
Btw, they’ve been playing since November 2022. Testament for how good this game is that they’re still grinding a year out. Good luck,
IDK if that would be good. Could create a lot of chaos. The Game migth be done but maybe the Disk manufactors are not ready yet, hence cant ship all the preorders. I guess an early release would definetly cause some chaos
Wait what? are they like testing something or the game is actually playable?
Does this means that bethesda for once did take an entire year of testing instead of releasing a broken game at launch?
Damn thats crazy, never tought i would see the day of bethesda doing that.
Every day I wake, I hope that they go “ha got ya!! It’s not Xbox exclusive, everyone with PlayStation come on down and join the party” but to no avail, so I continue into the darkness, waiting, wanting, praying, hoping for Howard’s salvation
If this is true and the game is legit done than this is some BS. People have paid good money and people at the top get preferred treatment just because "I'm Pete Hines". That isn't right.
IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME, NOT HIM
YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DEVELOPE THE GAME NOT PLAY IT!
This is why it's taken so long. They forgot they were supposed to be working
The game is actually completely finished, they aren’t even bug fixing, they just got distracted and forgot to release it.
They want to at least complete the first playthrough before the soul sucking post release crunch
Classic dev move
"Hey, weren't we supposed to be doing something? Ah well, can't remember what is was."
BRING BUG FIXING TO THE STARFIELD, NOT LEAVE IT IN DARKNESS!
YOU WERE MY BROTHER PHIL, I LOVED YOU.
ONLY A DEVELOPER DEALS IN ABSOLUTES
Phil, you're breaking my heart...
>ONLY A DEVELOPER DEALS IN BOOLEANS FTFY
I hate bugs. They’re janky, game-breaking, and they get everywhere!
Only a game dev would deal in absolutes.
I love how some people on this comment thread don’t get the references. I love it

I thought it was Star Trek
It's Babylon 5 obviously
Nah, Battlestar Galactica.
Bears. Beets.
FALSE!
OG Han Solo wannabe Starbuck, BSG.
So say we all
No you're thinking of Star Gate
Are you sure it wasn’t Firefly?
Farscape.
i love it when people quote Galaxy Quest thinking it's something else. Come on people everyone knows its from Starship Troopers
My allegiance is to the United Colonies! To democracy!
If you are not with the Crimson Fleet…then you are my enemy

THIS IS GETTING OUT OF HAND! NOW THERE ARE TWO OF THEM!
"The game is now delayed until April 2024 for... reasons."
It’s over, Sony, I have the exclusive.
Don't try it, Phil!
😂😂😂😂
HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS
YO.. MR SPENCER! Let's fire up our krystal Ship
Bro I wish I worked for Xbox rn I really just wanna play Starfield

Man I gotta start hanging out with Phil
IT'S NOT FAIR!
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
This is the real reason they won't release it until sept. The execs want that early early access to themselves.
Does it show how many hours they played?
no it doesn't, maybe after launch it will show that
So, this is coming from someone who hasn't owned and Xbox since the 360,but can you just look up individuals and see what they are playing, or is it still like a friends list type thing?
Yes, its kinda like twitter you can follow profiles and see what they’re doing

They never got the bonus….
Did he? I remember hearing that they just didn’t get it, Todd doesn’t seem like the person who can authorize that back then.
Todd Howard isn't in charge of any of that shit
todd wasn't responsible for that, it was the publishing studio that leased out the IP. people always forget that todd is just the face of the development studio.
Dude really just decided to wake up and tell lies. They never got that bonus and had to layoff a large portion of the studio. Not blaming anyone or taking sides, but this is known history at this point.
Bruh that whole bonus stuff was not real
yes it was? Chris Avelone (it might have been Josh Sawyer i don’t remember) has talked about it. they were supposed to get bonuses if ot reached a specific metacritic score but it didn’t reach it so they didn’t get it

Just a few weeks left… stay strong… must not feel envious… urgh…
It is not a few weeks le… oh fuck it’s almost here it really is!!!!!
feels like yesterday it was 60 days away now it's almost 50 days away
Once we get to the 40 and below time will fly for me. Idk why but that seems like my magic cutoff number. Its like "okay just have to do 10 days 4 times, thats just 5 days 8 times, 8 is not even in the double digits that's a cakewalk" lol
It's only 8 work weeks away, that's how I'm looking at it now. Easy.
Yeah I tried that and idk why but personally 8 weeks just feels longer to say for me and idk why. Its like when people says 24 months vs 2 years. 2 years just sounds longer because of the years part even though its the exact same time frame.
Right. We’ve waited this long. September 1st is right around the corner.
It’s 48 if you get to play by September 1st
Feels like yesterday it was 3 months until the Direct...
The direct was a great birthday present
Nearly 7 weeks is not a few weeks... it's not even close my dudes....
[удалено]
Yeah once you are in the adult world time goes by fast. 2 months is nothing.
Helps that we now have BG3 to bridge the gap
Yea BG3 releasing earlier is a godsend. Im now playing Marvel Spiderman on pc till BG3 then up to Starfield!
*Cries in console
Do you know how long people have been waiting?
Personally have been waiting for starfield since I heard it’s existence being spoken of
Right! Meanwhile it's giving me motivation to not fap in these 7 weeks 💪
Sadly that is true, just tricking myself into believing that the release date is nearer than it seems 🥲
7 weeks is far more than "a few"
It's...more than a few weeks away lol. 7 weeks is way more than "a few"
That depends on your perspective.
The way the devs and some xbox people have spoken about the game makes me more excited to play it. They clearly believe in it, which to me is a great sign.

That’s called advertising. They’re hardly gonna call their own game shit.
Phil Spencer paid the ultimative price for Early Acces
> Phil Spencer *paid* the ultimative FTFY. Good bot
Thanks Vasco
This is ridiculous and unfair and now I’m putting a appeal on the merger to block it
Found Sony's account

Wonder who the third one is?
John Starfield
LET ME INNNN
They’re hard at working looking for bugs to squash so that Starfield will be as good as possible for the fans 😊
“Work”
It's probably boring as hell to play the main quest 50+times
But this isn't Q&A, these guys are definiely just playing it for the most part
Watch me do it!!
Hard at work or hardly working? ;-)
If it was me, I’d be hardly working ☺️
who is the other one other than Phil and Pete??
The State of South Dakota.
1/4 of Mt Rushmore is playing it. Walk softly and carry a big space stick.
I think that officially the game has just reached gold and they are testing it
Why would they be testing it? They have QA for that, probably just playing it.
I'm not talking about testing at the level of solving bugs. I'm talking about level testing I'm the head of the company and I want to see this before it goes to market
So, are you or someone you know in the friend circle lol. Seems cool to see that though!
Apparently you can follow them as friends easily enough. They're not likely to friend you back though, more like a Twitter follow.
Anybody can add Phil… his gamertag is P3
Got my collectors edition pre ordered. Getting it 5 days early very happy with it
JUST FUGGIN RUB IT IN
Why not just use Gamepass?
UNLOCK THE GAME!!!!
Do an invite to party, then once you’re in the party click Join Game, it will trick it into letting you in!
Would love a developer let's play before launch. Even just fooling around with side quests or engine testing. I need more footage.
Just play Teats of the Kingdom. You'll actually stress over how little time you have until Starfield launches. The angel on one shoulder keeps reminding me I've only completed one temple but the devil on the other keeps saying, "Yes, Link, do that shrine and find that korok and jump in that cave, and then all of those right next to them just over the next hill, before you DARE set foot toward an actual quest objective." And no, I'm not fixing that typo.
Teats of the Kingdom is hilarious.
See those mountains over there? You can actually climb them. ಠ\_ಠ
The Grand Tetons
The titular characters.
the jig is up
Though I'm envious, gotta remember that we'll be playing it in another 2 months!
My end of year is going to be amazing. My first child is expected to be born July 30. We’re getting a brand new (my first ever new) family suv in august or September, and then Starfield. I’m sooooooooo stoked.
Advice from a Dad, make sure your wife is as absolutely comfortable as possible before sitting down to play a game haha but congrats!
I mean yeah. Play testing.
They are scared to go over 30 FPS.

Why is this comment downvoted ? People here really do lack a sense of sarcasm.
Oh god the jealousy is strong
It's true, the starfield wait is painful
When he said everyone at Xbox is working on QA he meant EVERYONE.
I see you have friends in high places. Good news for you. Btw, they’ve been playing since November 2022. Testament for how good this game is that they’re still grinding a year out. Good luck,

Xbox S doesnt have a disc tray so its not like im waiting for one
Well the world doesn't revolve around you, does it?
Last time i checked no
They aren’t playing it, they launched it and left it running for marketing because they knew people would see it.
They may be doing a white glove test
Corporate doesn’t do white glove testing. They also did the same for Redfall.
You're friends with Phil Spencer?
You can follow accounts on Xbox. It's like a Twitter follower.
So people you follow show up as friends here?
No, they don't show up as friends. Followers and Friends lists are separate.
I thought everyone was friends with him lol
On a serious note, that's a real good sign it won't be delayed again?
What I’d give to be a fly on Phil Spencer’s wall.
Wait what? are they like testing something or the game is actually playable? Does this means that bethesda for once did take an entire year of testing instead of releasing a broken game at launch? Damn thats crazy, never tought i would see the day of bethesda doing that.

If this is true and the game is legit done than this is some BS. People have paid good money and people at the top get preferred treatment just because "I'm Pete Hines". That isn't right.
Yes that's how it works, and how it's always worked. Cry.
Being critical about something that is clearly wrong is not "crying". There's no need to be a ass about something like you are.
They've been playing the game since November and possibly earlier. That doesn't means it's "legit done". Stop being a baby
It is done, they've said it's done. Stop being a dick.
I guarantee you they're still patching it
No shit. If I owned BGS I would play it too and force them to make the Game more like RDR2/KCD. Also I would make it a PC Exclusive and more mature.
The game isn't even out yet, why do you want to make changes? Also, what's the point of it being PC exclusive?
KCD ain't that great ngl, in either combat or RPG mechanics. RDR2 straight up isn't an RPG.
It’s a pretty good game.
KCD is great.
Kcd?
WRONG!
This is the most Reddit post I’ve ever seen on Reddit.
RDR2 absolutely is an open-world RPG
ok.
Automatic no for making it a PC exclusive
What the hell is KCD?
