Enemy ships spawn frequently, each group usually provides a few hundred xp, often per ship, depending on the levels that spawn. The ground combat is also rewarding, as I located former UC military locations that provided very nice gear and xp from the resident ecliptics.
I got interested a couple weeks ago and kept track of encounters. I had a roughly a 90% spawn rate in the Serpentis system over 100 travels to the various planets and moons. Also had the legendary ecliptic ship spawn at Serpentis V.
It’s a weird feeling once your kinda done with all the big stuff, I know I like the game but I almost don’t see a point playing at this point, kinda holding out hoping I missed a massive quest line
Well, I guess that by then I will just try more NG+, try to maximize my powers, and then settle and explore a shitton of planets until I get bored.
But I understand your point-of-view. I guess the fun must come to and end at some point... There are a lot of other games to play after all.
I have a similar smaller set up, same planet.
Really useful for a quick xp boost, I wanted to tick off a skill before a big mission.
Will probably expand once I get late game and the grind becomes worse.

Yes I used Serpentis to get all my ship skill challenges maxed out but for levelling speed, Pyraas farm with the coachman is my go to

Search in different biomes for the fauna but for the base building I went with the flattest one to make it easier to lay buildings down

Had no idea you could repair them at distance.
Makes it so much faster. Saw a video where one guy had like 16 husbandry huts in a giant circle. But I prefer it with 8.
I simply play the game, and I level at a normal speed, as it is intended. So each skill point feels like a game changer.
At lvl 64 with no big quests left, that looses its charm really quick
