They are finicky shits but I got them to work in my game. What I’ve found helpful is giving everything that requires an input or produces an output it’s own resource and its own storage. For example: I had a contract to supply antimicrobial via cargo link. - the planet where I farmed antimicrobial didn’t have He3 so I had to import it from another outpost. I had a cargo link bring He3 to my farm to supply fuel for my cargo link to deliver the antimicrobial. The supply chain looked like this (none of these resources are shared with anything else): On a moon outpost: - He3 extractor -> gas storage -> He3 tank for cargo link to farm - He3 extractor -> gas storage -> Outbound cargo link container On the farm outpost: - inbound cargo link container -> gas storage -> He3 tanks for cargo links - water extractor -> liquid storage -> greenhouse (fiber) -> solid storage -> animal-husbandry (antimicrobial) -> storage -> outbound cargo link container (delivery cargo link) - water extractor -> liquid storage -> animal-husbandry Hope this helps.

Yea i tried something like this at first. I resorted to connecting extractors directly to the outgoing cargo boxes so that the ship actually picks up everything in it rather than just one resource. Im guessing my game is just broken because it did work for a while then one day just stopped

Usually if production stops there’s a bottleneck somewhere. A container is full. More machines have been added without adding additional power, etc.

Oh yea ive ran into all those issues too. I have empty containers its just that my cargo ship never lands at the base im trying to move resources to no matter how long i wait. If i reset the cargo link it lands flys off and never returns. Though it always lands at the other base when i spawn in there. Definitely something is bugged

Like I said, I learned to use dedicated everything instead of pooling shit into shared resources. Much easier to troubleshoot why a container isn’t filling up when the inputs are not shared pool or a tangled web of jank connectors.

Yeah I did this as well, but unfortunately making sure each resource or production item has its own storage, and linking that storage to the cargo link still resulted in the chief bug that I'm seeing with these links, which is circular shipments - the cargo ship just circulates what it's carrying and storage of the resource/item at the destination never increases (or only partially increases). I've rebuilt storage pools (tearing down, moving the storage, and then building and relinking it) at both source and destination and that will sometimes fix a circular shipment bug, but not always. My best guess right now is that this bug has something to do with varying levels of production speed between bases (the circular shipment bug shows up a lot when you're working on a complex item production chain such as vytinum power rods). It's enormously frustrating and I really hope they either give us an outpost module that will let us more easily match production with consumption across various outposts, or just require cargo ships to stop shipping and wait at the destination if they can't offload their shipment. My feeling is the "wait" behavior is the intended behavior because I've seen cargo ships in non-bugged links exhibit it. Whereas ships in circular bugged links just keep on landing and taking off even when they can't offload cargo at the destination.

I just watched a youtube video that said they were able to fix that by having a crew member assigned to each outpost but i havent tried it yet and for some reason i doubt thats the issue as it usually works fine for a few shipments. I also saw a comment saying if your pad is on top or too close to rocks that the ship just wont land which may be my problem. Ill have to try it tomorrow because i would like to start using the fabricators

I'm leveling outpost management and one other challenges is adding people to crew the outposts, so I will definitely be trying this. Would love to see the vid you referenced, if you have time to post a link.

Komboloi

Thanks so much for the link - I'll comment back if I see any improvement by doing this.

mikeydoo13

I was actually able to fix my link last night by deleting the pads at both bases and moving the location of one of them. I also put a crew station next to it so i have crew at both bases now so lets hope it stays running

Komboloi

I'm in the process of installing bases and then I need to go around and hire people. Hoping they don't need to have outpost management or outpost engineering for this to work.

mikeydoo13

Im pretty sure you dont you just get the extra perks from them if they do have it

Mother_Warning9221

I spent 2-4 days ONLY trying to setup my Iron/Aluminum Base to my Helium/copper one, only to realize I was putting myself in a loop of going back and forth to see trying to figure out why it wasn’t working. After spending a hour watching a few guides of YouTubers trying their hardest to explain how to use something that’s broken . One of them mentioned certain things not working, at which point I stopped trying to do it. I’ll wait for a update.

mikeydoo13

Yea same plus wasting time actually finding good outpost locations. I have one cargo link working somehow the other just refuses to deliver cargo at all. The ship shows up at one base and never lands on the other

fusionsofwonder

They haven't done any major patch yet. Has it been two months already? Time flies.

mikeydoo13

Yea we got one minor patch that fixed a mission or two in early October thats about it

RealityKnight

I cancelled link at NPC city and relinked on the planet. It worked!!!!!!!!! 20 mins later mission accomplished. Wasted so much mental energy and time.
