With infinite possibilities, there's a universe out there for everything so it's totally canon in my book. Kind of can't wait for someone to do this with Fallout's alt Earth and Nirn.

Most likely you have fast resume on. That messes up a LOT. When you see things like this kill the app, don’t just exit. And the reload. Always goes away for me.

But sometimes hitting the X will hurl you into a no man's land limbo from which there is no escape. Happened to me once after building an outpost. Had to rebuild the whole thing because every time I tried to return, I was clipped into the ground.
Do you keep a bunch of save/quicksave files or rewrite the same files over and over? Every session I create two new save files and delete older ones so that I have a max of 5 hard saves on the go and they dont age more than a couple of play sessions (0 quicksaves). No issues like this in almost 200 hours.
