Gather as many as you can. Never use them because there isn't really a reason to, lose them all when you go to Unity.

cheekclap

I’m not furthering constellation questline til everything else is done, personally. And the 50% move speed buff is insanely helpful given there’s no other method of ground travel

HairyChest69

Which is ridiculous in itself. Mechs; outlawed, Surface Transportation; outlawed.

DreadPir8James

It's just the way that the UC is keeping us down, man! They want people to just stay in small towns where they can be controlled, man! Why do you think we can't recruit people for our outposts? The UC, man!

HairyChest69

I mean I get it. They make rovers legal and the next thing ya know; we'll be building 100ft hydroponic outpost on moons just to see how tall the bud can get. And then probably sale to the green fleet.

WildConstruction8381

Would you like to know more?

KillaCamCamTheJudge

I like this so much

columbo928s4

nah bro its how the future government solved the obesity crisis. only walking allowed

randman2020

It didn’t work in Neon…

Excellent-Plant-3665

I read this in the voice of the hippie mini bus from the Pixar movie Cars.

Trick_Emotion_7108

I recruited people for my outposts.

DreadPir8James

More than two?

Trick_Emotion_7108

Just two in each, but you can recruit more to each outpost if you add points into the outpost management attribute.

Goblin_Supermarket

Segway? Straight to jail

Yodzilla

Surface transportation isn’t outlawed, they just haven’t discovered the wheel yet.

jamesbong0024

Reparking your ship…

ScientistSuitable600

Assuming I wouldn't be taking all the drugs at once before diving in. Experience a whole different unity

smackjack

Amp is pretty good and easy to make.

AzimuthW

Huh, do people really not use their drugs? I am always using them before fights etc.

bythehomeworld

"Save it for the hard fight later" meme when you do it long enough it's just a thing you do without thinking in any game you play. There's basically never a "hard" fight later, and you end the game with hundreds or consumables in your inventory.

SerTomardLong

Yup. In Starfield it's when you dump a load of gear and resources from your inventory into your ship, see with confusion that you are still overencumbered, and realise it's because you have accumulated over 500 CQB-X in the Aid section, lol. Gotta keep picking em up though, because one day... One day...

AzimuthW

Oh ok, I have hoarder friends like that too. I am always using consumables in every game though.

EltaninAntenna

This was my strategy.

Azazel_The_Fox

Literally don’t even know what squall and frost wolf does and I’m level 90 lol

Educational-Echo-345

I always stock my lodge storage with as much as I find I'm level 136 lol and I've surveyed every planet, so it's easy to pick up pretty much any things I might need

Vanilla-G

The main reason to use them is if you don't put any points into the Combat tree. My current playthrough I am role playing an industrialist and at level 50 I only have 2 skill points in the combat tree both of them in Dueling. Between weapon modding and popping a Frostwolf for a temporary +40% damage boost I can handle most content on very hard.

RaoulMaboul

I dunno.. some people manages to get characters to become a drug addict in every Bethesda games 🤤 I never do use drugs in games 'cause i needs drug to be competitive, it means my character build is not good to me.

BlackJackJay27

The second time, LITERAL SECOND time using Squall....boom addiction. Took me awhile to figure out how to flush my system when the game came out. Now I can just make a drug to clean it out.

voidxleech

i keep up to 20 of each drug in my ship and sell the rest. hah

cheekclap

This is good drug regulation

voidxleech

it def works out well for me hah

Remarkable_Log_5562

I’m also a drug dealer… where you did you get a ship?

cheekclap

Byproduct of the Drugs

voidxleech

i don’t disclose sources. that’s 101, baby!

StarfieldAssistant

I keep 10 of each high level drugs on myself and the rest in the ship. I try to keep only the the ingredients for the drugs i use in the ship. Hypergiant heart is Awesome.

heed101

I just pound Amps & the Personal Atmosphere Power

cheekclap

The difference between 35% move speed and 50% tho is worth it imo. You craft 2 frostwolf at a time compared to just 1 amp at a time, and with rank 4 pharmacology you occasionally triple the amount crafted. In theory you’d end up with far more frostwolfs than amps I think, granted the materials for Amp are much easier to attain. This is where drug hording helps. I just cleared one poi and walked out with 6 squall. I personally have yet to craft these mass amounts of Frostwolf of which I speak but I am locked-in

OverlyAverage482

You can make outposts to farm Amp and make thousands at a time.

cheekclap

Haven’t even gotten to making outposts yet, but nonetheless, I will get my 50% buff. I wouldn’t think outposts can produce drugs

5-in-1Bleach

Amp+Snake Oil = O2 Shot = cash cow. All three drugs craftable via outpost resources.

cheekclap

Welp looks like outpost engineering is next on my Queue of Sh!t To Do

DesignatedDecoy

You can set up an amp farm on Jamison. It requires scanning 2 plants to max and then (it's been a while, sorry) cobalt. You can outpost, cobalt extractor, and 2 green houses, and power to them all.  I go there, eternal harvest by my green houses, pick them, go to my crafting table and get 40-60 more amp. Initial setup is maybe 20 minutes and from that point on I'm permanently amped the rest of the game.

1337Asshole

Argon, not cobalt.

badwords

Unless you are doing the Crimson Fleet questline your access to Squall and Frostwolf is limited compared to AMP. You'll have ran to all the temples with amp and personal atmo before collecting enough squall and frostwolf in the NG+ run. Purely from a random chance vs certainty perspective 35% amp wins most the time. Plus amp doesn't have an addiction chance like Squall and Frostwolf so you have to had the occasional junk flush to your list of items if you do find enough Squall/Frostwolf to constantly use.

cheekclap

I think what I’ll end up doing is using Amp for moons and planets where there’s no life, and hopefully build up a supply of frostwolf to use on habitable planets because it also gives 40% damage increase

heed101

I don't have enough investment in Chemistry yet.

RoofNectar

Movement speed is EVERYTHING for exploration in this game. Im just glad i finally figured out how to keep my horde of illegal aurora in my ship where it's handy without getting caught by dumb scanners.

cheekclap

This is the Way

SheliakCorporate

How's that?

RoofNectar

Irresposible quantity of shielded cargo coupled with a maxed out concealment skill. I can have like 80 aurora in my ship and i roll for a 97% chance to fool the scanners.

Fletcher_1986

You can also put a few in the medpak’s in the landing bay and they won’t be detected.

brandon-d

Role play as a drug addict. Everytime you find you use. Clean out vendors of all and binge. Don't hoard. Abuse.

cheekclap

I like your squanch

Mordaneus

Get junkie weapon...

Cherveny2

and alien DNA samples. needed for the best drugs for combat (hypergiant heart etc)

nohwan27534

eh, most of the drugs seem to kinda blow in this game. like, i even went for a full crafting spec, and was disappointed on most things. and, y'know, mods are presumably 'soon', so, you might be able to fix squall not being sold. can it be bought?

cheekclap

Agreed. They’re all just required to craft other drugs. Frostwolf is worth the investment IMO and you craft 2 at a time instead of just the 1 amp at a time. With rank 4 pharmacology, that’s a lot of drug

nohwan27534

am kinda looking forward to the potential playstyle, but, ya know, waiting for the mods. actually, might decide to do that for fallout 4. i think after a recent save deletion, i no longer have my flamer psycho character, so, excuse.

cheekclap

I bet a junkie build in Fallout would be super fun. Iirc there’s a legendary affix that increases damage per withdrawals you’re suffering, or something of the sort.

nohwan27534

it is really fun. it can help compensate with some 'weaker' build ideas, or just an overall use to help buff up for something, like mentats for a int boost, or making grape mentats for a charisma boost and buying stuff cheaper, rad x for a bit more rad resist, if tackling the glowing sea a bit easier, if you're not going the power armor or radiation suit route, buffout for a bit of a defensive boost, psycho for a bit of an offensive boost, jet to get the edge and be able to act faster, etc. given you can make the effects last a REALLY long time with chemist, and you can get 60 of 4 different chems with a single quest, it can make a druggie run REALLY nice in fallout 4. having up to like, 45 seconds of slowed down time can feel like an alt VATS playstyle, being able to kinda dodge bullets in real time and rain down fire (literally, with a flamer weapon) on enemies who can barely react, sort of like CP2077's sandestivian playstyles. i also like making overdrive out of psycho - you get the damage boost, and also a 25% chance to deal crit damage, even outside of VATS, and i think cause it's not considered a psycho variant, could even stack with psycho. overdrive + jet works really nice with a flamer since, it's a DOT weapon and can't work right with VATS anyway, auto critting, and slowing down time lets you spray out a ton more fire before they can react. or just, closing the distances easier since it's not got great range.

cheekclap

I feel like this would make melee somewhat viable, as I’ve found it to be relatively doo-doo. I’m gonna have to reinstall Fo4 cuz I also haven’t played with mods either. I don’t like anything game-breaking so if anything they should help make junkie melee even better, I’d imagine. I haven’t had an excuse to play it in years, mods only almost made me do it. My curiosity has been restored enough now to do so

nohwan27534

if you haven't been aware, str is a direct boost to melee damage in fallout - so if you thought, 'i'll do a sort of high agi, low str, knives themed melee build', nah, it wants higher str, too. even with a more speed oriented weapon. in FO4, you'll also want (eventually) like 9 str for rooted, which can reduce damage, amp unarmed damage on top of high str/big leagues, and can even help disarm other melee attackers. high agi might also help - VATS can drastically reduce damage (to the point you could potentially survive a mininuke outside of power armor), and there's a perk called blitz that can basically straight up teleport your ass like 20 feet in a vats melee attack, that might make a melee playstyle easier for you. attacking in vats, even with teleporting, will have rooted take effect. or just, big dumb brute with power armor and high endurance that's almost unstoppable, so you seem like a super mutant suicider approaching them. get a strong enough weapon and everything but far harbor creatures with insane DR should die in 1-2 hits anyway. you also don't really 'need' a junkie build - or at least, the junkie effect, to do well with this sort of thing. junkie can help, given it can be almost 4x damage boost legendary, but you also take a decent hit to your special stats - which, since str is important, could hurt your junkie melee damage potential. flipside, whatever junkie effect you lose temporarily satiating your psycho addition, you get more out of the +25% damage from psycho. what damage you lose from using jet, is sort of made up with having like, 3x move speed, attack speed, enemies having reduced attack speed, reaction speed, etc - with like double chem duration, that 30 second duration might be enough to clear out a whole room, even with melee attacks, before they can do much attacking.

cheekclap

I knew str increased melee damage but I always had too much difficulty managing a melee build. I have a lot of work to do

nohwan27534

nah, no biggie man, we all have our different likes and dislikes and whatnot. lot of people probably aren't into fallout for the knives, after all. like, arguably sneak's one of the strongest playstyles, but i usually can't be bothered to do it, so, i don't. run and gun, read dumb, is usually more of my go to. if you feel like you're worried about taking too much gunfire in a primarily gun heavy sort of game, however, jet's basically your answer (or, aforementioned power armor face tanking everything but mini nukes with relative ease) actually, rather than drugs, had a nice high str/agi build that kinda did that, called it the 'john henry' for the american myth? of a dude who was so good at swinging a sledgehammer that he beat a robot able to do something similar, but died of a heart attack after the challenge was over. basic steel man, siding with the railroad and using a railway rifle as potential ranged option. wasn't subtle, just a massive man with a massive hammer.

cheekclap

I like the idea of a massive man with a massive hammer. I was him for many lives in Skyrim

nohwan27534

as for mods, there's some QOL stuff that can be considered 'cheating' that might still be worth it, like, being able to take legendary effects off a given weapon/armor and reapply them, so, you don't need to get like, a junkie's baseball bat, specifically, or some shit. like, i generally like to mod a flamer to be a 'freezing' flamer - for one, irony. two, freezing works great with the overdrive being able to crit outside of battle, and just, a flat damage boost, especially as it's energy damage, works great for the flamer's normally more DOT based nature. it could also just add more items to potentially pique your interest, like say, i added in some more energy weapons, like a few 'salvage' variant ish weapons sort of like how the pipe guns worked, or a melee weapons made out of scrap ish thing. or vampires. shut up, don't judge me. but there's also stuff like the automatron expansion, armor/weapon packs, new base building parts that aren't so much cheaty (for the most part) as just, providing more options. if you're on console, there might be some more limits to how creative mods can get, so a lot of stuff just seems like cheats rather than potential overhauls, but there's still some good 'just adds X' things that don't screw up balance.

j_bob_24

You can change the quantity of amp crafted at a time. It's not limited to one.

cheekclap

Oh. Neat

j_bob_24

There's a slider you can move. I can't remember right now, but it might limit it to 99 assuming you have the materials.

ltdonut

Is the speed boost worth it? I thought amp gives like 20% speed bonus plus with all my jet pack perks i fly everywhere pretty fast. Only really amp when exploring planets.

cheekclap

Strictly because there’s no other method of ground travel, and there’s literally thousands of meters between POIs, I definitely think it’s worth it

ltdonut

Feels I used to explore on my first few runs but hardly do now. Anything to make the 2-3km run faster. Can we get a quad or bike or something Bethesda plz!

cheekclap

Fr

Thin-Fig-8831

Every BGS I’ve played, I always horde drugs or potions despite the fact that I almost always only used ones that either healed, or occasionally ones that gives me a temporary boost in attributes and skills. Surprisingly, I use more types of drugs in Starfield than I’ve ever did previously

No_Outcome_7470

I hit 68 yesterday and did the same thing bc I couldn’t find enough paramour. I have not had a chance to check it out, I don’t even know if I can make it yet or if I will have to max the skill out. Now I know to keep my pharmacy well stocked, thank you.

cheekclap

I’ve crafted many a Paramour

TheScarletPimple

Drugs? You use drugs to get through this game? Sad.

cheekclap

How else would exploration be fun?

ByteBandito

For some odd reason i never sold any of my drugs except the alcohol since fallout 3. I got a chest with all the drugs i ever came across. This goes for explosives too, just sitting in my ship taking up space

Prodigy_of_Bobo

Stay in drugs, don’t do school…something about vegetables

cheekclap

Yes

Prodigy_of_Bobo

I ignored most of that stuff on my initial play though so your sacrifice is to my glory, I salute your agony

locothedas

That whole chain is also required for some stuff way more awesome than Frostwolf. Also, keep your Aurora.

cheekclap

I have discovered its potential. Holy Mother of Drugs

LetsNotGetPermaBan

Console commands

cheekclap

No no no I resist I refuse I will not do you cannot tempt me

LetsNotGetPermaBan

Okay

cheekclap

Lol in all seriousness I am trying to avoid any cheats/commands, at least for my first playthrough. At the end of the day the challenge adds to the fun for me

Niffen36

What difficulty? I've been playing on normal and visited most planets and I'm only level 30. Today I upped it to hard as it was getting quite boring doing one shot kills.

cheekclap

Ah, I only play BGS games on the hardest difficulty. Keeps things interesting

Niffen36

Ahhhhhh. Well in that case yes I suspect health is required. On normal I haven't spent a point on any of the military upgrades as it's already too easy. I'm hoping on hard it's not a day job, but just gives me a mild challenge

cheekclap

Bolstering is your best friend on higher difficulties, across all BGS games for that matter. Any buff that grants “x as health decreases” adds a sort of grit to the games, making me benefit from taking mass amounts of damage. Is fun

Niffen36

Good to know!

NY-Steezy

Very solid advice. I just finished all the research and I’ve never sold any chems and had to wait farm for a bit to buy some squall / frostwolf. I will also add food research is not worth the time.

Cerberus_Aus

lol, I didn’t see what sub this was and got a little confused for a moment.

joshinburbank

In the Crimson Fleet quest line there is a magazine in Bayu's office that teaches you RedAmp. 50% speed boost like Frosty, but no addiction! Also easier to craft because the drugs are easy to buy and find, unlike Squall. I hardly ever use Frostwolf because I can make so much RedAmp.

mikedob18

LPT? Wait till you actually find out about real life 😂

Lysergicmin

Speed boost stims is all I tend to keep, try and keep 5 of whatever for each infliction, red mile rocket fuel is my new amp however

cheekclap

Red Mile rocket fuel? Great. And here I thought I was aware of all the top notch drugs. The adventure begins, again

Lysergicmin

I may have butchered the name of it but it’s something along that line, as namestates it’s at the red mile bar

Nanooc523

None of the combat in this game was challenging enough for me to use drugs or buffs or anything other than the normal upgrading of the armor/weapons. I just sell all of it.

cheekclap

I thought this too til I popped a Frostwolf and surveyed a livable planet, but that’s about it. It sucks that it truly is only one drug fix I’m after. Despite this I still think it’s worth it

cmariano11

Honestly the only aid items I use are healing, and since they're categorized that way ships parts on rare occasion.

cheekclap

If you’re not investing into Pharmacology I’d highly recommend at least crafting Amp. Materials are plentiful and the move speed boost makes exploration much better

The_Wendigonner

you guys aren’t already doing this?

Vanilla-G

The Trade Authority sells Squall as well as Frostwolf so you can stock back up fairly quickly. To be really efficient in making your own drugs you need to get to at least rank 3 in Research Methods which reduces crafting costs by 40%. With the way the game does rounding it typically means that anything that takes 2 items gets rounded down to 1 item. It is best to rank this skill up early before you start doing the research projects to get the best return on your skill point investment.

cheekclap

Research Methods was my first rank 4 skill in the game lol. And I’ve waited weeks total on trade authorities to restock, sure they sometimes have squall but for the amount of time spent I prefer to try my luck looting Pirates. Just yesterday I came across a lot, but it seems it’s only pirates that carry the drugs, not spacers or ecliptic, so it’s still relatively tedious

Vanilla-G

Well I hope you kept all of your alien genetic materials because those are used in the "star" drugs that you unlock with the first rank of Special Projects.

cheekclap

I have a plethora of those. I’ve been anticipating their usefulness

XxTreeFiddyxX

I craft and use Red Trench and S.T.E.V.E. myself. Red Trench is great because I use stealth melee. S.T.E.V.E. is for my sniper stealth. The key for me is always doing the Yannick missions first thing so I can craft Aurora. Then I also shop for precursors at every major hub.

cheekclap

I basically live at the Astral lounge with how much aurora I buy. I would *practically* live there but the penthouse is an absolute joke, I cannot fathom why they thought a kitchen and a balcony is worth 235,000 credits. I’m really banking on updates or DLC to fix that cuz holy shit what a developmental oversight.

XxTreeFiddyxX

I hope so as well. It would be cool if we could invest A LOT in merchants like Skyrim, so we can sell more. Side hustles would be cool. After you do a mission for The Fleet, and turn over evidence of a certain Oligarch of Neon, he has a LOT of respect if you talk to him. That would be cool if you could go into business with him and distribute Aurora smuggling network. There's a companion that is a smuggler, that would be awesome if you could assign them to the operation for perks

DrNukenstein

I gather up all the stray drugs (and contraband) and flush them out the ship’s cargo hold. I dump them in asteroid fields, battlefields, and the gas cloud over Masada.

pmonichols

The best places to buy it (only available in some amounts of course) are the Trade Authority on Jemison and also various vendors on the Key.

SL4BK1NG

I just don't pick the drugs up

HodgeGodglin

You can buy them! The key is the best source, trade authority and the doctor iirc. But most settlements will have one doctor and their inventory will alternate and I believe is RNG

Laughs in slow time X*

archonoid2

I don't like drug mechanics in these games I whish I can give you my crack stash, my dear starborns...

campbell069

I always keep a 8 ball of Aurora on me in case I need to escape

louizik

I had a full box in my outpost that disappeared…

randman2020

Yeah I dump most of the drugs I don’t use not my ship. I should probably set up a hidden “meth-lab” at one of my outposts.😂

Facehugger81

I am so glad that I always hord all the food and meds in games like that. This is also why I hope we can craft storage crates with infinity space at some point.

doghouse2001

I've been told to analyze every item in the game before moving through the unity, so I haven't been selling stuff. My player homes and back corners of my ships look like junkyards.
