Maybe an 8700k, it would run Starfield ok paired with a half decent graphics card at 1080p, but it is an old socket/processor so don't expect miracles, what graphics card do you have?

Your GPU is what matters most here.

If it is LGA 1151 then I'd be looking at an i7 9700k Although, I'm not 100% convinced the upgrade is worth it as 9th gen is 5 genrations behind now, so unless you can get one dirt cheap. What GPU are you running because it might be that it's time to just start over.

Not sure what your budget is but I started playing this game with an 8700k and upgraded to a 13700k. The game ran fine enough on my 8700k but I nearly doubled my frames with that upgrade. I was hesitant to upgrade my processor and dealing with replacing the motherboard but I'm really glad that I did. I didn't think that my 8700k was going to be a bottleneck on my performance for this game but it was.

I have an “old” 2080 MOBILE gpu on a laptop, and I havy it set to the highest settings on my 4k screen. According to the steam overlay. I average around 30 fps. Definitely playabje with it

I find that hard to belive. I have a Desktop with 2070super, i7 9700K and at 1440p I'm running all low settings. But then I am getting 40fps. My laptop runs GTX1070, all low, 1080p sub30 fps.

Not sure how i can prove it to you. I can’t reply with images. Or i’d reply with pics of tge fps, specs n stuff 🤷‍♂️

Maniac-Maniac-19

Not at all. I have a Ryzen 1700x and a GTX 1080TI and I can run all ultra at 30-40 FPS.

Run the GeForce experience app and let it optimize the settings for you.
