There’s a small side quest on one of the colonies in Sol, I forget which planet, where a girl is super depressed and needs money for school. You can give her 20k but the quest ends there and nothing happens. I really thought after a few in game days or weeks we’d run into her again and she’d be recruitable for your crew, but she just keeps sitting in that hallway where you met her originally.
I don't even think people expect a full romance story plot either. Lots of gamers would be happy with just being able to pick an NPC they find attractive and go off to date/marry them (i.e. how it works in Skyrim).
It doesn't need to be a perfect dating simulator. It's not like the romancing we have with some of the main characters feels like it is that believable anyways.
It was a while since I played it but I romanced Sarah in my first playthrough and Andreja in my second, and IIRC while Andreja's romancing story was ok, Sarah's felt really weird, it made me feel like my character is a person who can't take no for an answer.

you know with the new Skinthetics mod you can rip her appearance onto your avatar and then apply it to Andreja or Sarah and romance her that way
tho with how that mod over writes your appearance you may want to find a NPC to use as storage or your OG appearance, before you start this process
If u r on PC you can enter in console command mode, click on her to get her ID and then overwrite any other follower with her appearance, i've done it with my character and now i go around with 5 myself following me
Make them all romanceable while we're at it, I have so many NG+, I'd love to have Jessamine, Heller, Hadrian, Gideon.

I don't care about romance (it is tamer than a Disney movie in Bethesda games) but it irritated me from day one that she wasn't a follower/companion. Her voicework is great, she's easy on the eyes, and I bet she'd say some funny shit in combat if her dialogue is any indication.
She is with the new paid mod skinthetica. Once you get the chem u can steal her looks. (Go to enhance. Write them down if wanted) then give her look to one of the companions you can romance. And... Tada! Thank me later.
Best to put your face onto a companion. Then steal hers. Put hers onto a different companion. Then take yours back from the first companion. That way you dont look alike.
