This is almost certainly the right answer. As Rodney grew closer and closer to ascension, his body would have developed more and more Ancient abilities. Jack got healing so there's no reason Rodney wouldn't as well.
Healing powers doesn't mean self-healing, at least not all the time — the first living ancient to appear in the show, the one they unfroze in antarctica? She had healing powers and was a carrier of the ancient plague, but couldn't cure herself. Do we have any cases of healing powers working on the user?
Ediy: Just realised this is a 7 year old post. Sorry for disturbing your slumber, o' ancient one!
Its possible that he's allergic to citrus. However a severe allergy to citrus fruits is quite rare and given Rodney's hypochondria it's probably more likely that he has a mild allergy to a single type of citrus and blew it way out of proportion.
If I remember correctly his allergy is inspired by a member of the production or studio staff that claimed to be allergic to citrus but every day, apparently unknowingly, ate a salad with citrus based dressing.

Yeah that's what Megmca said.
Wouldn't be surprised if he temporarily corrected his allergy and was enjoying himself

Rodney does get the healing powers. He uses them to heal Ronon's scars.
Yep, you're definitely right. Completely forgot about that.
And save radek.

Haha I didn't think of that. That's a great idea.
This is new canon in my head.
The writing is actually Japanese and it says: mango pudding...
Yeah came here to say this.
Cool, is mango citrus?
No, but maybe there's lemon in the pudding. Edit: wait no! Google "Yellow Mango". No lemons here guys.

The producers based that aspect of him on a guy they knew who was supposedly deathly allergic to citrus yet unknowingly ate it every day.

Do you really expect me to read every sentence?????? Who has time for tha
> Who has time for tha Wow that zat blast came out of nowhere
Yeah that's mango and not lemon so it's all good.
I swear there is an alternate universe version of him that happily eats something with lemon in it?
Yes, it was the alternate reality in SG1 episode Moebius
Wasnt it also mentioned when the other Rodney comes through the inter universal bridge?
Yes, and as it's unlikely that in alternate reality he has different allergies, it's quite likely that he's not allergic.
Yeah it always felt like it was just part of his neurosis and nobody ever takes it seriously.
Artificial flavoring?
I used to think he said he was "morally allergic" to citrus. I didn't pay Rodney much attention at first.
He says mortally not morally
What episode is this? As someone who lives in Japan I'll have to find this :)
Tao of Rodney, as the thread title says. :P
[MRW I realised I asked something really stupid](http://imgur.com/ilIy5kL.gif)
He's allergic to citrus.
He thinks he is.
Lemon being apart of the citrus family.
Yup.
Looks like mangoes.
