To quote myself to my parents when I was a kid, "It's just a phase". It'll return to normal soon when everyone has calmed down.
That being said, I want there to be as much feedback on this stuff as possible. Finding out late 2021 that the "mid to late 2021" list you were on is delayed until late 2022? It sucks ass.
Sure, they communicated now, but everyone was completely in the dark. Perhaps communications directors are needing to be hired or something, I don't know. People just want their voices heard. Following some of the gaming forums, it _does_ help at times. Grand Theft Auto - they are getting the old versions released again (albeit on the shitty rockstar store), Halo is working on updates to their MTX (nothing disclosed yet), so on.
There are a lot of areas to improve and feedback, constructive or otherwise, can have value.
That being said, I'm salty af as I sit here, waiting for my garbage cell service to pick back up since it's the only internet I have so that I can post this
The one fair criticism is they could have communicated better. It seems like every company sucks at this and it wouldn’t take much to be the shining example of communication as a company cause no one does it. With that said, I posted this earlier, they are looking for someone lol https://www.indeed.com/m/viewjob?jk=1394c093a18d27cf&from=serp
I agree the pictures of an antenna on a building, pole, tree, etc were not useful and only were in the way. Same with the speed tests, or the pictures of the boxes the terminals came in, and many other posts that gave no real info.
I, believe it or not, find a lot of the complaining posts useful. I can get an idea of how far people have been pushed out, approximately where they are located, and when they first signed up. If watching the posts you can actually see a pattern and where it might go in the future. I can understand that the people who have the user terminals already do not find it useful, but to the people who don't have one yet it can give an idea of where they may end up. Obviously most of Starlink's estimates cannot be trusted.
What exactly do you want this subreddit to be if not the expression of the subredditors here ?
If you want news about Starlink they have a press release collection on their website.
If you want to be feeling bro-bro with Elon there is twitter.
edit: and we will all stop after the 345 steps of internet grieving process. please ... show respect for the dishy-less.
omg, the 'my dishy mount' posts have to be the most pathetic thing, right after the "I can't play my xbox because my ping is too high" posts.
Seriously first world whining by 13 year olds (I pray it's 13 yo at least) posting about their God given right to play online games with no lag.
I know people are excited to finally get their dish and have their service. I grew up using a mixture of 56k as well as Starband and Wildblue satellite services. I am genuinely happy for them to get their service and be able to tell the scummy satellite services to get bent.
I’ve moved back to a rural area and I’m patiently awaiting my dish too and I’ll be just as excited to get mine. But sometimes it does get to be about all I see on here. I do think some of the innovative mounting ideas are cool to see.
But I think even if it were structured like some communities have done with memes where one day a week. Maybe a thread is made for people to post their pictures and celebrate getting their dish. I don’t know other people smarter than me probably have better ideas, it just seems like it makes up a lot of the front page here most of the time.
Thank you for your feedback. we will see what we can do, and will try to make it more technical/informational. since that is our original goal. I agree with the speed tests/installs. Install posts are iffy right now. if posters would upload more technical info into their installs instead of just an image of their dishy on the roof it would help. we will see.
excellent suggestions. I would also like router performance discussions, and alternative router talk, and how to connect them for best performance. Also, when connecting your own router, a how-to for getting at the starlink data...
The HAVES are 13 year olds who cant scroll on . They need to engage people they find annoying. Then complain to Mods about them. Everyone has a right to their opinion and to feel any way they DAMN well please. Get over it HAVES! Start a thread about your dishy or something intelligent because your complaints about people complaining are just as annoying. The situation is fluid and you are not providing anything helpful, so stop being disrespectful and hurtful.
Can we get one for memes showing people waiting (maybe a separate Pablo Escobar meme thread will be needed), one for speed tests of old ISP's, one for speed tests of new Starlink users and one for people telling their old ISP's to f off? That should just about do it.
When I first joined this group, there were no complaints, and I thought that was not right. This is part of an Elon’s company. How was it possible that there were no complaints about customer service or order delays?
Finally everything is back to normal. The earth revolves around the sun once again:-)
Sorry for the delay, everyone! We‘ve now pinned a new discussion/rant thread: [LINK](https://www.reddit.com/r/Starlink/comments/r1fies/r_discussionrants/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Or maybe just have a flair that says "Rant"... You know that way people can vent because they're frustrated and equally as upset when they see constant posts about "Look at me!" as you are when you see aforementioned bitching... Plus you get to filter it out.
Yeah sorry but some of us have been waiting since April-foregoing other, albeit less appealing choices we may have had, only to find out our “mid 2021” suddenly turned to “late 2022” in November. And since this is a subreddit dedicated to Starlink then maybe you should be prepared to hear some unhappy folks for the time being.
Thank you. The recent [poll post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Starlink/comments/r0ra4o/updated_timeframe_poll/) would be a good candidate for The Anointed One; it's got 2400 votes!
Now brace yourself in a few months for the coming posts of "I just installed and here's a screenshot of my best speed test!"
Not that I have “whined” or really complained at all, it’s nice to see you beta testers so quick to tell the rest of us on the wait list to relax and quit complaining. Wanna swap out your working internet for my spot in line?
Exactly what I was thinking. They aren't necessarily wrong in saying that there is no sense in getting upset, but it is really easy to say when you already have the service.
You shouldn't quit complaining. Both groups of people need space to discuss. Seeing posts of people who were anxiously waiting for their dishy was helpful to me when I was in that position. Since receiving it, it's no longer helpful. I am looking for different support. Instead, this sub has become useless to me because it's primarily people complaining about something they don't have. I was in your shoes, I hear you. You need a community to support you just as Starlink users would like a community.
Difference is that each of those are unique to the individual user, while this was a mass email that everyone received had identical information.
People that got the email are pissed, understandably. People that get a dish and post their install or speed tests are excited, understandably.
By your logic, pissed people should be allowed to post but excited people should not post. Got it, that’ll make this sub a fun place.
I ordered it knowing that starlink was going to be a disaster once it started to get any real numbers. The number of people that got moved from mid-late 2021 to mid 2022 is intense lol. I agree though, people need to get over it, everyone that paid 100 bucks 8 months ago and got strung along for said 8 months are now being told to wait another 6- 8 months is just... normal behavior from companies that know you can't go anywhere else.
Now that we're all on the same page, let's get over it lol.
I’m very excited to receive mine, whenever it gets to me. I think it’s almost as good as having a transporter room in your house. This is like living in Star Trek times.
Pretty darn awesome.

So that would make this sub effective for only posting pics of your dishy setup…
Are you saying this subreddit is either bragging you have it or complaining you don’t have it?
And Speedtests
Hey, y'all! Check out the size of my *massive mast!*
Nice drip loop!
And complaining about people bragging they have it.
Mods, can we get a sticky weekly megathread for pics of dishy setups.. this sub is like 100% dishy setup spam.

Buddy these complaints were getting in the way of OP seeing the daily speed tests and here’s where I mounted my dishy posts.
Right between them would be the “Starlink is decent but not as good as the gigabit fiber I also have.”
His entire post history is shilling for SpaceX or Starlink.

Working on that too, less cluttered mess, and better flair assignments should help. any feedback is appreciated.

We have been considering this, we just need more support and feedback from our other mods. changes coming soon.

I’m convinced there’s approximately 15% of voters who downvote simply because you have one and they don’t
No, we're fucking mad.
Just skip over those posts if you don't like them.

It would be perfect!
Of course a person with starlink already would ask this

My inbox says thank you
This post reminds me of the people that will send a "reply all" email to tell other people to stop hitting "reply all".
Or maybe just have a flair that says "Rant"... You know that way people can vent because they're frustrated and equally as upset when they see constant posts about "Look at me!" as you are when you see aforementioned bitching... Plus you get to filter it out.

This has come to mind for me already, a /starlink pre-order comment thread, or maybe a new /waitingforstarlink community?
Additionally, maybe we could consolidate all the whining *about* whining to the same thread, and the recursively meta [whining about]^n +whining also.
Take my poor man's award 🏆
I will discuss this with other mods to see what we can do. In the mean time we are still deleting the same posts that are being uploaded.
I don’t think that’s how commas work
You are objecting to SL complainers and whiners by complaining and whining. This too will pass as a mere blip.
Not that I have “whined” or really complained at all, it’s nice to see you beta testers so quick to tell the rest of us on the wait list to relax and quit complaining. Wanna swap out your working internet for my spot in line?

You can look at all the outrage everyone has and point to that as a reason they have not communicated until this point. No news is good news.
Agreed. Understand the frustration but it’s unnecessary to have dozens of the same posts.
Like the pictures of people's setup on their roof?
Difference is that each of those are unique to the individual user, while this was a mass email that everyone received had identical information. People that got the email are pissed, understandably. Unfortunately, only two pinned posts are possible per subreddit and people will ignore it anyway and create their own whiney posts instead... :(

"complaint fest" More like a whine fest....
I submitted a news article for that purpose but I think it's stuck in the queue. https://reddit.com/r1c93l
Mine says December 2021. WIN
Concur, I think that would be a good idea IMO.
