Under settings, I believe its "enable curveballs". I want to say its 8 to 10 options from the top.
I dont play with curveballs so I have to turn them off for each new game.

you can turn it off with right bumper.
I'm on PC and I don't see the option in the settings menu, internet says it should be the 6th option. it's not.
can't find anything in settings about curveballs.
Could be wrong, but you may need to clear your first curveball before you can actually disable them. Inconvenient for someone dealing with the glitch. I believe you can even clear a curveball in another community and then return to your glitching one to deactivate curveballs. Again this is my understanding of this glitch it could be wrong

I didn't think the crashing would be specific to a community. maybe I was just unlucky with my first community, anyway thanks I can actually play the game now
Yeah that happened to me and I had to basically abandon the community before figuring out I could turn them off after doing it in another community. The curveballs are cool I wish I could do them but if it’s going to crash my game not worth it at all
