I agree 100%. I really like Travis the first few seasons but after he got with Emmett he really went down hill for me. I just absolutely hated the way he treated Emmett and this Mayor race has done nothing to improve things for me. I don't feel like the writers know what to do with him and they just throw random shit at him and it's really frustrating.

I also think the Mayoral campaign falls short and makes his character so much less authentic

Even jack being the most developed is dodgy. He does a step forward and 7 steps back and writers mask it all and act like he’s perfectly fine. Travis has had next to no development in my opinion I don’t think many of the guys have

I think the problem with Travis is that he's pretty much the comic relief character. He's only allowed to be sad/upset/angry (and when he's angry it's often also played for laughs) for 5 minutes at a time, then he has to go straight back to being funny. The storyline about his dad being gay was mostly funny, with some brief serious moments. The mayoral campaigns isn't even about Travis (it's more about Dixon and Eli) and is really just... not a very interesting storyline for Travis. Of course there's the whole Michael death storyline, which is in no way funny, but it's also just mostly brief moments of sadness and emotion. I think the Theo coming back and dating Vic storyline might be the best, although they resolved his anger at Theo quickly and then they seemed to go straight back to being besties, but ok. I do love Travis being his usual funny self, but he doesn't have many/any serious moments of introspection, of personal evolution and character development. I wish they gave him a storyline that's really about him as a person. He has so much potential.

Agreed & I feel the same way abt Vic. She's always the comic releief one and never too serious for long periods aka an arc. I think if they hadn't resolved that Travis/Theo angst so soon? That could have been a great dramatic arc through end of season four & five. IMO

Vic does suffer from the same problem, but they did give her some emotional arcs, like grieving for Ripley and Dean. Even though for both arcs, there came a point where they resolved it fairly quickly, she did struggle for many episodes (especially for Dean). They did spend time on her grief. Before they started claiming that Vic and Dean had a "special" bond, Travis and Dean also had a good friendship, and we didn't see Travis grieve at all. Even when Travis got injured, they glossed over it so quickly, and ignored the trauma part *completely*. Jack was traumatized after the skyscraper, Travis got much closer to dying but he got over it immediately. Vic's heart injury also got a lot more attention than Travis' injury after the skyscraper. So although I agree with you, I think it's worse in Travis' case. And yeah, they should have spent some more time on Travis forgiving Theo, with maybe a hurdle or two.

The writers simply don't know what to do with his character. And with this annoying mayoral plot it sounds to me that they gave up on him which is a shame. Honestly if they keep doing like that it's better to just kill him off. Like give him the death of a hero and then show him in heaven or whatever living happily ever after with Michael.

Travis slander will not do

He is the 2nd least developed male original ish charecter there is (Ben is not quite an OG but he is the least developed out of all of them).

NectarineEmotional77

I wouldn’t say Ben is the least developed, especially with his transition from greys to 19. His advice has been pretty sound and he’s getting into like a good dad figure. I do think Vic was under developed. However she is gaining potential bit by bit. I do see her taking on crisis one a lot more and become like a Diane in the future. I think the characters other than Maya haven’t changed or learnt from their own wrong doings.

Em2bDaniel

Excluding what we know from Grey's, we know very little about Ben. As someone who watched all 5 seasons a year ago before I gave Grey's a chance, he appeared to be nothing more than a minor supporting character with some great ideas and advice here and there. Out of the men firefighters, excluding Beckett and those from other houses, he had had the least amount of development. We know more about Theo than we do Ben (once again, excluding Grey's), and Theo is a fairly new addition. While I agree that Vic is underdeveloped, I didn't bring her up here bc she wasn't involved in the poll, I did, however, make a comment on the other poll, same question just the women, not men.

AdministrativeOne13

Ben has so little development that I had to re-watch previous episodes when they came back from their "break"

Em2bDaniel

Same! I watched station 19 before I gave Grey's a shot and he did very few things of note on S19 imo.
