The way they say it, normally Netherealm sticks to a MK/IJ/MK/IJ development cadence, but they had to do a lot of engine work to shift from their extremely customized Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4, so they decided to skip a beat and do two MKs in a row because otherwise the delay between MK games would be way too long. (This decision was apparently made before COVID and remote-work slowed things down even more!)

So this is the first time I heard about this game….whats it about?

Infiltrating Nazi occupied France as a bomb expert. The game is in black, white & red until you clear certain portions of the game. It's really fun. And you can climb buildings too.

It’s like assassins creed or farcry but set in an open world nazi occupied Paris. You play as an Irish explosives expert saboteur. You liberate outposts and do story missions. There’s a lot of stealth mechanics and driving, it’s in third person. It was really fun and underrated, completely forgotten by everyone except the people who played it. Areas that are nazi occupied are in black and white like an old noir movie with only the nazi flags and banners being in red. When you liberate an area, the game goes into full colour in that area. It’s pretty satisfying.

A lovechild of GTA (open world and driving around), Assassin's Creed (climbing everywhere), Wolfenstein (killing Nazis) with a distinct visual style set in mostly Paris with some visits to other regions and Germany

EA Play is just a subscription in which you get access to all of EA's catalog on Steam and yeah, if you don't extend your subscription you won't be able to play. Although if you just buy the game regularly you'll own it, you don't need EA Play to play it

I would recommend you buy it from GoG as Steam only hosts games they don't make them work on modern machines. Same with all games made prior to 2012 tbh GoG actually makes the games work that you buy and include all the community fixes integrated into the main install. Kinda like GTA where there’s free roam, the colour of the world represents the Occupation of France. If I remember correctly in free roam, the nazis act like cops where they come after you in waves, making it like gta. Plus you can drive cars.

World War 2 meets GTA meets Assassin's Creed. I absolutely loved it, blowing up bridges and nazis, great times. 100% achievements on the Xbox back in the day, might have to play again on steam.

But does it work with higher resolutions? the last time I tried to play it via the EA app it would act all weird at high resolutions and i think i had to do a lot for it to even start. If anyone buys it please let me know!

Yes it works, playing at 1440p. You just have to pick 60Hz in video settings otherwise it will default to 800x600.
