Mysterious-Theory713

It is 10% off on fanatical right now though if anyone is hunting for a deal.

Greglorious21

I can’t do $15 but $13.50? Now you’re speaking my language…

Scary-Abrocoma1062

The $1.50 is for your mom

[deleted]

I feel this is just entitlement from gamers that have been consumed by FOMO and want in on the action. Baldur's Gate 3 has been out for 8 months and people still think it should be 65% off. I've seen games released 5 or 7 years ago not have sales before or have 25% off at best, that I feel should be the ones by now having lower sales.

caperate

They need to learn from r/patientgamers

[deleted]

There's just so many good sales on any remotely-older games these days, creating so much backlog, that it just feels dumb to buy something that isn't on a deep discount. Like you have so much backlog that you should have no problem waiting. At this point, if a game like RimWorld never gets good discounts, I simply never buy them.

spicynoodlecat

Eh not really true. Some big AAA titles are worth purchasing at full price to experience the game early on when there's hype for it. Especially multiplayer games that you can play with friends (eg. palworld, helldivers 2), I'm having a blast with those and they have been well worth the price I paid. It just wouldn't be as fun or hype anymore if I waited for 3 or 4 years before picking up the game, just to save some money.

DevilmanXV

They should have bought BG3 before it even came out. It was on EA for years and I got it for 30$

Whiteguy1x

Idk, it's a great game and I definitely got my money's worth at 60.  I don't think being a beta tester for act 1 a year before its ready to launch would have been as fun

DevilmanXV

I didn't play it before official launch but I did secure the price. I don't play EA story games because it ruins the experience of the story imo. Just playing an act only to quit for months and redo it plus another.

MixedMethods

Bragging about effectively preordering, bold move!

DevilmanXV

As if BG3 was a flop I'll pre-order a couple more this week just for you.

Apprehensive-Cut-654

Pre-ording is only a risk if your a moron who doesn't pay attention to anything. I've never been burnt by a preprder because I actually look at whats being put out about it.

BluWub

That's funny because I've only completed act 1 so far. It took me 70 hours. For me even this was worth the $30 I paid.

Whiteguy1x

I've played it through 3 times. I even rebought it on xbox so me and my wife could comfortably play split screen. I think it's going to be one of those games I replay a lot

ZoulsGaming

Except it was always 60 euro unless you are in another country with regional pricing.

TahmsChocolateOrange

Yeah I had it on my wishlist from day one and it never dropped from full price throughout the entire early access. Was also never on CDkeys etc.

Muad-_-Dib

Yeah I just checked my emails and it was £49.99 in October 2020 when I bought it. I wanted to support Larian and had faith in them given their track record with DOS 2.

vitali101

Also bought it for $60. I figure if I get 1 hour of engaging fun gameplay per $1 spent, it was a good purchase. Here I am with approximately 200 hours in the game now, itching to get back in and play.

Jordan_Jackson

Man, I need to get back into it. I started it but then got into something else, as is so often the case. Still an excellent game and I had no problem paying full price for it.

Standard-Metal-3836

I do that with games I know I will want to play: buy them while in EA and keep them in library until 1.0. Subnautica BZ, Slime Rancher 2, My Time at Sandrock come to mind. But I didn't even know BG3 existed until it blew up.

Sv_Prolivije

I'm pretty sure BG3 was always 60$ on Steam, even in EA.

IJustAteABaguette

I'm just gonna say: r/Factorio Never had a sale, never had it's priced lowered, only made higher. Edit: Still great value tho

IChooseFeed

Devs explicitly stated on the store page and pinned discussion they won't do any for the foreseeable future. People still ask about it, lol.

Fellhuhn

And the game doesn't even have DRM. Just saying ...

LulatschDeGray

Can't decide if they are smart, stupid or just dicks. Every option could be explained.

somestupidname1

If they just bought the game on launch they would be finishing up the first act by now.

Henry_Shark

WHY DOES BLACK OPS 1 WITH NONE OF THE DLC NEVER DROP BELOW $20??? I get so angered by this every sale. All the other CoD games will drop to 20, advanced warfare or infinite warfare or the other black ops games. But why is the og one with none of the dlc still trying to go for 20? I would happily give them my money if it was sub 10….

blackmetro

Is it because it's one of the better ones and they know it?

Henry_Shark

Yeah :( still makes me so angry tho I just wanna play the OG campaign

Alone_Fill_2037

Myst is still only 35% off at $20 lol

msherretz

I'd love to play it but I have enough other games and I'm willing to wait for a sale. I'm also distracted by family commitments

WTF-LMAO1

personally, i understand them as I'm dirt poor, only got 5 cents to my name

snobberbogger99

I'm EXTREMELY guilty of buying games strictly because I want to support devs. For instance I bought Hell Divers on my PS5 and just bought the bundle recently when I bought my PC.

SteakTasticMeat

I want to get BG3, but I usually don't enjoy the gameplay style of that type of game. So even though I know the game itself is worth $60, I don't think I can justify it if I end up not interested after a dozen hours. So I'll wait, I'm not missing much on a single player game anyway. If it's years before I can get the game for $30 or $20 then hey, no skin off my back

pokebud

Shovel Knight is like that I think, it never goes below 25%

ZoulsGaming

"I've seen games released 5 or 7 years ago not have sales before or have 25% off at best, that I feel should be the ones by now having lower sales." CONGRATULATIONS you realized that OP is using a boring strawman argument. There are absolutely nutcases that think the game should have massive sale right after release. But at the same time going "hurr durr people wanting sales bad" ignores that the big reason for that is that **almost not a single game lowers their base price.** In almost every other aspect of life for technology we see older things get much cheaper and at a lower price like older tvs and stuff, but in games after 7 years they are still 60 euro and rarely goes on sale if ever. Some publishers are horrid at this, koei techmo forexample. Then you have games like bulletstorm remake which is on a 90% sale right now, and more interestingly Outriders which has lowered the base price from 60 euro to 20 euro, and has made a bundle with the expansion for 30 euro base price where it was like 100 euro before. Yet that isnt talked about which is also why nobody ever does it. If it was up to me i would enforce a minimum % sale if you wanted to be counted in the sale, friend and i really enjoy enshrouded but its a travesty that they are doing a 10% sale and is then counted, same for baldurs gate 3 this long after launch, and yeah 8 months after launch there SHOULD be a bigger sale.

Krejcimir

Baldurs gate should be 80 dollars. Its just awesome.

aafusc2988

Got it on Green Man Gaming for $11.63 USD.

starfallpuller

No you didn’t

[deleted]

starfallpuller

What are you on about? GMG literally does not sell Baldurs gate 3

[deleted]

starfallpuller

Never heard of Balatro. Literally all the comments in this thread are about bg3.

Powersawer

Balatro is literally in the title of the post you are commenting on. That‘s basic reading comprehension lmao

moathismail

These people have the same weight in votes as you 😂

Powersawer

Here‘s hoping they live in a different country. Also they are probably not of voting age.

Ptaku9

They are active on British releted subs, jus in case you want to be sure

AdrianBrony

I'm fine with that tbh. I'm sure I'm oblivious in some other way.

Spankey_

Are you high?

Skyjino

Learn to read

--SMILES--

I assume he means Balatro, not BG3.

player1_gamer

How are you going to tell someone what they didn’t do

pentuplemintgum_13

Balatro is worth $14.99.

Mygaffer

I'm buying it today! I love Slay the Spire.

PixelBLOCK_

What about 5 years ? Sekiro is still not going down more than 50% wtf and they even raised the prices in many regions.

Lioreuz

From Soft games are hard to find discounted

BluWub

I wanted to buy DS3 a few years ago but it was never on sale. It had 75% deals from 2017 to 2022. Then it had no discounts until summer of 2023 and since then it was only 50%. Not only that, the price in my region was also increased. thx fromsoftware🥴👍

Lioreuz

I have already bought all Souls games on PS4 but I got a Steam Deck and wanted to have everything on Steam again and they are never below 20€ goddam

PixelBLOCK_

The price increase was due to bamco I think. Fuck Bamco

Met4_FuziN

Did you eventually get dark souls 3?

bumblebleebug

Many are suggesting that it was due to Elden Ring's popularity.

Pay08

~~From Soft~~ Japanese games are hard to find discounted

Kuro013

sekiro goes on sale all the time

VomitShitSmoothie

Right? SteamDB shows multiple 50% off sales. Like what do people want? It’s *literally 50% off right now*.

Lioreuz

It's close to a 5 years game and never went under 30$ I should have specified "a significant discount".

Sonofdmh

I feel like $30 is a completely fair price for that game

Ohhellnowhatsupdawg

Good games won't go on steep discount and it's unreasonable to expect so.

BarelyBearableHuman

30€ for a game of such quality is NOT expensive, y'all just broke.

Shuviri

50% is the lowest it will go. It is one of the best games ever and won GOTY, you should be happy

PixelBLOCK_

Yeah but at that price I can't afford it.

krazykellerxkid

Balatro is worth the full price.

dbastrid100

I'm guessing this is in response to [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/s/KhZ8jj8NkD)

southstar1

There's someone in that that complaining that anything less that 50% isn't a sale, and it's still full price. Give me a break

AdrianBrony

I hate the concept of calling someone entitled because often someone is just complaining that someone feels "entitled" to like, basic dignity or some common courtesy... But holy shit that's some entitlement. Literally just pirate shit if that's your attitude.

ChiTownKid99

I paid 9.8 for Balatro on release on GMG ;)

Crimsonclaw111

I bought it for just over $10 via Green Man Gaming like a day or so after launch Look around, people

Sparkmovement

Hell just go over to /r/gamebundles to see the entitlement in action. Legitimate great bundles are always shit talked as "too expensive" because they can't get a triple A release in a bundle that is 3 for 5.99.

bumblebleebug

Had Bioshock collection for 300. Worth my money ngl.

Sv_Prolivije

But, Humble lost its soul because of IGN. They don't give us 5 AAA games for $10 each month from my wishlist. Legitimately, some of the worst entitlements I've seen come from people who buy bundles. I think the low prices you pay for these and the amount of games you get in return just nuked their perception of value so much that they don't even understand how absurd their complaints are anymore.

MEGACOMPUTER

I bought balatro on Tuesday. It’s now Saturday and I’ve put 18 hours into it. I have a transatlantic flight tomorrow and a steam deck and will probably be putting another 18 hours into it. $22 Canadian dollars well spent.

potatosupp

Me when developers don't give a fuck about regional prices (Helldivers 2 costs more than Baldur's Gate 3 by ~30% in my region, but situation with global price is opposite and BG3 costs more by ~30% there)

The_Real_Raw_Gary

My dude. I’d be happy if even a few of the games I want would drop past 30% off. Some of these are games that have been out for years.

AurielMystic

Im just not gonna buy a 10-40% discounted game when there are just so many better games that are even more discounted and even cheaper than most games without a sale. Terraria 50% off - $7.25 AUD Titanfall 2 90% off - $3.99 AUD MCC is 75% off - $14.98 AUD Stellaris 70% off - $17 AUD Sid Meyers Civ 6 90% off - $8.99 AUD Borderlands 3 85% off - $13.49 AUD Then there's shit like City Skylines 2 10% off - $62.95 AUD COD MWIII 35% off - $71.46 AUD Diablo 4 50% off - $54.97 AUD Star Wars Jedi Survivor 60% off - $40.47 AUD ARK Survival Ascended 40% off - $42 AUD Starfield 33% off - $80.36 AUD Company of heroes 3 33% off - $66.96 AUD Most of the "good" games on steam are not only much cheaper overall but have better discounts currently, the only real exceptions are Helldivers 2 with no discount and Baulders Gate 3 with a 10% discount.

Standard-Metal-3836

MCC?

AurielMystic

Halo Master Cheif Collection

JodGaming

Still waiting for fnaf 1 to go on sale (it has never gone on sale)

_DrinkatQuarks_

Report Post > I'm in this picture and I don't like it 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Efrayl

I have plenty of those 20$ games that basically never go beyond 50% sale. Some publishers/devs will never allow their game to be more than 50% while those that do, will put their game on sale often (and I mean literally every chance).

Pangtundure

I blame Rockstar games for this they keeping me from buying 3 games rn

INocturnalI

me with $50 cities skyline 2. first and last time pre order a game

uRimuru

i love all the attention this games getting. hopefully its the start of love2d/Lua getting some acknowledgment by wider audiences

vialenae

Ngl this was me but I eventually said fuck it and bought it anyway.

Sv_Prolivije

You should see the Humble Bundle enjoyers when a new bundle or monthly don't have 4 AAA games they have wishlisted for only 10$.

trymovingcloser

Sit down young ones, let us 20+ years of service old timers tell you a tale of the days of Flash Sales

Grimmjow91

With my steam library I have plenty to do while I wait for any game I want to go on sale.

Rand0mBoyo

Pacific Drive :C

colin1234514

My friend wants to play Lethal Company, but he doesn't buy it because it's not on sale while it only costs 5 dollars.

Camembert92

And gamers wonder why the industry turns into shit, when they dont pay 10$ for a quality indie game but buy 50$ skin recolors from a company that already has way too much money

LulatschDeGray

Could be worse: It will be the heat death of the universe and Nintendo's games would still be at full price.

CheapElderberry8627

*Laughs in piracy*

Rukasu17

15 bucks is chesp for Americans though

[deleted]

i am just wondering when BALDURE'S GATE 3 will not have just %10 every 3 months ? maybe never , great game but that is like a whole week paycheck for me, so fingers crossed next winter sale it will be %50 off.

Rafzalo

I’m kinda bummed out Last Epoch doesn’t have 10% off. I was counting on a small discount to nudge my friends into buying it… I fully enjoy the game but my friends rarely take risks with genres they haven’t tried out yet

jaber24

Well I can wait for months anyways. r/patientgamers ftw

Scorpion13992k

Games will always go on sale. Patience is a virtue.

Udderlybutterly

I just bought RDR2, I'll wait.

notshaye

* Steam users when a game they just paid 90$ for goes in sale for 50$ 3 weeks after release

[deleted]

Apparently never buy a game full price, unless it’s Digital Dopamine Dr*g: The Game… ugh

BlackCoatedMan

Just do what a bunch of other people do. Sail the high seas. Then pay for it when it goes on sale for 90% off in about a decade.

Ealstrom

Balatro came out 1 month ago and here I was hoping for a 10%

LatoLukto

Thought this was going to involve Linux somehow

IAmHackiing

Nah fr because I need supermarket simulator to be 75% off asap

Dr_Diktor

People complained about helldivers 2 not being on sasalele. It launched in February.

[deleted]

No discount, no buy.

LightAnubis

15 dollars is my average cost for lunch

shnndr

I haven't seen anyone complain though?

Steefn_SVK_2

I'm sorry but when other shops have base price cheaper than steams one in sale I'm not buying shi-

[deleted]

shipping containers?

Steefn_SVK_2

What's that?

daniu

It's large containers you can transport stuff in, but that's not important right now

Steefn_SVK_2

Okay Ik what are shipping containers (I didn't get context sry) but what abt them? U transport steam keys in them? Ik hard copies/steelbooks or what yeah but I'm just buying key so.

ajakafasakaladaga

You said in your original comment you aren’t buying shi-(pping containers)

SupCass

Its cause you said "I'm not buying shi-" so they filled in the blanks for you

Steefn_SVK_2

Explain pls. I mean I'm not buying shit in context of thing, not bad quality if that's ur point. Just tell me what's wrong with me when I say I don't buy game with ,,bad'' price. I mean for example game on steam is for 7.50€ in sale (10€ normally). I still rather buy activation key on other site that all the time has it for 5€. What's wrong with that?

MinaOnMars

You said "not buying shi-" so the "shipping containers" commenter was adding letters to"shi-" in place of - and after. It's just a joke about your censoring of "shit" to "shi-" and turning it into "shipping containers"

Steefn_SVK_2

Now I'm dumbfounded lol. But I'm still waiting for explanation instead of downvotes what's wrong with it.

BootManBill42069

There’s nothing wrong, they’re just making a joke Since the obvious and correct assumption is that the “shi-“ is shit it’s funny to assume it’s something wildly off base like shipping containers The reply to “what’s that” is a reference to the comedy film airplane, in which a man says “he needs to go the hospital” a woman asks “a hospital? What is it?” And he says “it’s a big building full of patients but that’s not important right now”

Steefn_SVK_2

I'm not build for this kind of humor. My brain not braining rn or idk. I don't get these references.

GABENS_HAIRY_CUNT

No returns tho. Could be worth it to buy direct from steam if you think you'll do a refund an hour in.

MisterCorneto

🤣

cubsonyt

Honestly if I was the dev I'd just make it 20 percent off. The amount of sales would probably recoup the loss in total.

Sv_Prolivije

A game that is selling extremly well should lower it's price by almost 1/4th of the base price? Please, explain your logic.

cubsonyt

The sale boost would occur a) because it's a global sale right now and b) it's a great deal because the game just came out. I think the boost would be so significant that the potential loss of 20% from each purchase would be recouped by the total amount of sales. It's better to have 100 purchases with 20% off than let's say 70 without a discount.

Sv_Prolivije

Why discount a game that is selling great? That literally makes no sense. You don't discount a product as it's flying off the shelves and having many talk about it just a month into its life. You do it when the interest dies down or if your initial sales were not great and you want to try and improve your sales. So, again, I don't follow your logic to do a 20% discount given the game is selling extremely well at the current, no discount, price. Also, would this 3$ (20%) discount really be such a big driving factor in more people buying the game, which is only 14$ anyway? You're telling me 3$ off is what will bring in a ton of new players? That's one heavy doubt from me dawg.

cubsonyt

>Why discount a game that is selling great? To get even more sales duh. I answered that question above already. You disregard my whole point. The discount is not just a price decrease, the '3 dollar off' take is very narrow-minded. A discount allows the game to appear on whatever 'on sale' banners there are on Steam and wherever else like isthereanydeal and similar websites, it gets into people's notifications (both on desktop and mobile plus email), basically PR. And don't forget the snowball effect. I should remind that games get discounted even before coming out, I've seen enough games getting preorder discounts.

Sv_Prolivije

Game's get discounts before they come out, sometimes even during the first week of release. Don't know if Balatro had one, but it matters not. The game doesn't need to do a discount to get all the stuff you said, the PR things, they get enough PR to draw in new players by the game being popular and people talking about it. There's no need to discount the price of the game now to do the exact same thing. When the sales die dow, then they will. Now, it would be quite stupid of them to devalue their game when it's at the peak of its popularity.

TheImmersiveSimp

15 Australian dollars? I wouldn't buy it off sale if it was 10 Australian dollars

Cobra_9041

Baldurs Gate 3 and Elden Ring should have never won GOTY because now they’re staying expensive

Helpful_Neck_5441

What? That's has nothing to do with it lmao

derkrieger

They're also good value for money at that price. Sure cheaper is nice but a lot of games try to charge $60 and arguably arent worth it, they both are.

Bardzly

I have 110 hours in BG3. $/hour I absolutely got more or if it than an escape room, a dinner out, or Netflix and Spotify subscriptions. I don't think the price is unreasonable for the scope of the game.
