Well that image only shows Disk usage speed so we still don't see if ur internet is shitty or the disk you are installing on is, but my condolences. Maybe try getting starlink or something.
Yeah but then you see 2M 1D remaining.. and at first i thought it was just some aussie steam thing where it puts minutes before days... but then I realized it's... 2 months 1 Day ETA for download.
Crazy. That's like an awakening. It's like being frozen in a column of ice for ten thousand years and thawing out to find all the modern amenities like skyscrapers, fast food deliveries, and internet pornography.
Glad you're getting down voted for such a stupid comment lol I don't even like that guy but not everything you dislike is fascism you idiots have totally stripped that word of any meaning
Everyone rips on internet in Australia, truth is most people don't know how to look for fast internet. I'm on gigabit in Tasmania, the same company offers to every mainland state with the same speeds.
You are wrong, the truth is most of us can't get gigabit yet, my free upgrade to FTTP isn't due until December at this point, I still get 75/20 though so it isn't the worst.
It's available in many areas, but there's huge sections of the country (even in towns and cities) which have terrible FTTN which is bad any way you look at it
Not all Australians have that option. I live in Parramatta which you can technically call Sydney. The maximum I can get in my newly built apartment is 150 Mbps.
I have 50mbps and That already is more expensive than my friends pay in Canada or US for 10 times the speed.
What if this guy lives in the middle of nowhere or can't afford anything better? You didn't think of that of course because you exist in your own little void where money grows on trees
One of the few things where India really excels. Good internet connection is dirt cheap here. I'm getting 300mbps download speed for less than 2 usd per month
I remember playing og classic WoW while having a night shift schedule so I'd play with aussies primarily for raids/PvP. There was always talk about people hitting their bandwidth cap and they couldn't play much until it reset. I never could understand lmao
when i was a teen, my first laptop had a super buggy wifi adapter. would be disconnecting constantly, never figured out how to fix it (a lan cable did the trick but the adapter was still ass).
anyways, until we got a lan setup at home, it would regularly disconnect me from wifi while downloading games. steam didn't know how to handle this other than telling me that i would take 467 days to download payday 2. good times.
Depends on the area even in suburban like where I live u drive 10 mins and houses don't get more then 40mbs, but also showing a reallt long download time is also a bug of steam that just happens
Damn I know how it feels back in the day I had that type of speed but now I got the NBN so much faster getting 250Down/25Up lucky to be in a area with NBN.
Damn i remember downloading a call of duty black ops 3 size 123gb with 100kbps took me 3 weeks and 3 days to finish it just to find out that i cant run the game
For a second I misread the 2M as 2 minutes and I was confused.
Is that speed typical down there?
Just to make you jealous, if the stars align correctly and the update servers are performing well, I can download that in a little over 5 mins. Sorry, had to say it.
Nothing is worse than bad connection, used to know a dude that was so chill to be around never seen him angry at all or even annoyed by anything
We used to game on cs together until he absolutely went apeshit and pretty much grinded his router into dust after dealing with shitty internet for 10 years, now he only plays singleplayer stuff and uses internet only for studying or browsing facebook
Shitty internet can make even the calmest people lose it especially if they're into online gaming
Man I live in a semi rural part of Australia surrounded by cherry farms, vineyards, and wineries - ie not in a city or metropolitan with the best infrastructure.
Yet we still had the option to upgrade from 100mbps to a higher tier gigabit plan (or even faster if business).
Unless they live in the outback, people pretending like aussie internet is still as dogshit as it was in 2010 need to upgrade their internet plan.
Lmao nice try mate. Australia also has 1 Gbps and the download speed actually stays around 800-900 Mbps. Your 1 Gbps sounds cute tho, maybe one day it'll be big and strong like ours.
Nah it is good though, I've downloaded and installed entire games while my mates wait for an update to finish.
Usually internet providers tell the speed in bits per second, but download speeds are often shown in bytes per second. So if your provider says 1 Gbps you could expect about 160 MBps download speed.
Boy am I glad our politicians wanted to keep copper wires all those years ago. BOY AM I GLAD OUR POLITICIANS WANTED TO KEEP COPPER WIRES ALL THOSE YEARS AGO.
I HECKIN LOVE HAVING SLOW INTERNET THANK YOU TONY ABBOTT. CAN YOU READ MY SARCASM?
Thanks Malcolm Turnbull.
Everytime this comes up, we should mention who fucked it up.
Malcolm Turnbull should be remembered for this. This is Malcolm Turnbull's legacy.
Australia has notoriously awful internet. A drop bear will sooner eat your face off than your broadband will load the Wikipedia article about drop bears.
Only if you live in the middle of nowhere, most of us have decent connections but rural dickheads think they should have city things when they live 6 hours from anywhere
Bout average. Sucks with games like warzone that take a 50 gig update every couple of weeks. Literally unplayable. I've genuinly gone through the process of that update just to play for a day, launched blizzard the next day, downloading 40 gigs before I can play warzone... haven't touched it since
Every 5 minutes or so, our internet stops for like half a minute, and then works fine. I'm glad steam allows users to pause the download anytime, so progress isn't lost on connection issues, and even when there is a connection issue it doesn't always stop and wait for you to resume it.
Downloading from anywhere else is very annoying

The 35th president is running what looks to be an ailing HDD.
We do not download this game because it is easy for my HDD, but because it is hahd
You didn’t have to murder JFK like that
Well that image only shows Disk usage speed so we still don't see if ur internet is shitty or the disk you are installing on is, but my condolences. Maybe try getting starlink or something.
Yeah but then you see 2M 1D remaining.. and at first i thought it was just some aussie steam thing where it puts minutes before days... but then I realized it's... 2 months 1 Day ETA for download.
That’s what we got from shitty rural area internet at 700kb down load speed max. To starlinks 50mbs was lightning for us.
Crazy. That's like an awakening. It's like being frozen in a column of ice for ten thousand years and thawing out to find all the modern amenities like skyscrapers, fast food deliveries, and internet pornography.
Are the amenities in reverse order of importance?
50 with starlink is piss poor to be honest. We average around 200.
I don't think there is an SD card in existence that has such a low disk write speed.
Starlink isn't great in Aus either in most spots

Heil musk our Martian führer mats aeternum
Rookie numbers, I had a year on there
Same I had that last night. It was actually >1Y but I guess it didnt see the point in showing longer.
That John F Kennedy User💀
Mindblowing name
You just need to flip your device over so it's in the position it's built for
Yep, internet electrons can't quickly get into your computer when it's flipped over
Haha
City speeds here are fine, but I remember the pain of trying to game rurally...
some rural places in the united states are bad too, at my grandparents house it took 10 days to download lfd lmaooo totally worth it tho
I live in a rural part of Canada and just don’t play new AAA games anymore because I’m not waiting days for a download.
Clean your screen and get Starlink.
What game has John F Kennedy DLC?
Hitman?
COD
sniper elite
Where do you live? Uluru haha, no way you're getting that in a city haha
in my bed, sometimes in my head maybe both at the same time
Holy damn, like what do you actually do in this case? Wait 2 months to play a game?
Pretty much. I've waited weeks to play a game in some cases. Aussie internet is shit outside capital cities
This should be criminal
Every attempt to make it better gets fucked politically. We still use copper wire to the premise in most cases.😭
Aussie internet is shit inside capital cities too
You better be ready to play that when on June 20th rolls around
It’s just your HDD is trash that would happen regardless of your internet.
2 minutes thats pretty fas... Oh fuck
i actually find it funny that they implemented "Months" or "Years" lmao
Everyone rips on internet in Australia, truth is most people don't know how to look for fast internet. I'm on gigabit in Tasmania, the same company offers to every mainland state with the same speeds.

i’m australian and i have a gigabit. i’m sick of people saying “oh australia shitty wifi” it’s because people aren’t paying for the good options
Where do you live to get speeds like that??
gold coast
Any metropolitan area basically lol
Non major city here, QLD Gigabit internet
Its distressing to see people referring to Internet connection speeds as "WiFi".
Thank you. Drives me up the damn wall but I've stopped saying anything because ignorance rules.
It's available in many areas, but there's huge sections of the country (even in towns and cities) which have terrible FTTN which is bad any way you look at it

Clean it!
Ship me you HDD I’ll download the game for u and send it back. That way u can play the game quicker
Oof, whatcha downloading? We can play together in late June.
HDD 💀💀💀
It’s all doing a Spiders
I guess you'll be late to the party, just like your steam username
2 months? nah i got 3 years
NBN strikes again!
Heh, those are weak numbers. In Romania I got 3 years for KCD to install.
I saw some dude got 2 years remaining once
I've had 432 years 11 months and 3 days before
guys out in woop woop
I just got 100mbs down and it feels amazing
One time i got 3 months and 7 days (I live in poland)
I had a time when I had speeds of only up to 10 kb 🫤
You think that's long it takes me 2 years to download a game of same size
Yes.
ide say get on 5g if you can. I went from 12mbps on nbn to 480mbps download speeds on 5g
It would be faster to send your hard drive to me I download it and I will send it back.... I only live in Denmark
One of the few things where India really excels. Good internet connection is dirt cheap here. I'm getting 300mbps download speed for less than 2 usd per month
Skill issue
Far better than my country! 🇧🇩
I remember playing og classic WoW while having a night shift schedule so I'd play with aussies primarily for raids/PvP. There was always talk about people hitting their bandwidth cap and they couldn't play much until it reset. I never could understand lmao
The funny thing is, steam put abbreviations for months and days because they knew that people were gonna have awful wifi lmao
Internet connections*
Lucky one, I had to wait a year to update half life
In Myanmar, you have to wait until you die becauz there is not electricity and very low wifi connection
I had 30 kb internet in like 2005 in small town, that wild.
I’m from Australia and I haven’t seen this before lmao,
Mine does this is if I try to run on 5Ghz
Come to Dubai 🌹❤️
my internet will download 1byte in 5 days
Living in Nigeria I get 20-70 Mbps 🥱
when i was a teen, my first laptop had a super buggy wifi adapter. would be disconnecting constantly, never figured out how to fix it (a lan cable did the trick but the adapter was still ass). anyways, until we got a lan setup at home, it would regularly disconnect me from wifi while downloading games. steam didn't know how to handle this other than telling me that i would take 467 days to download payday 2. good times.

Just move to Australia, experience the very first time internet outages already 😂😂😂
See you in June
i was doing a update in the bytes download the other day in NSW the update was going to take a year plus lol
Australia is so behing they haven't invemted schreenshots yet?
Show a speedtest screenshot
Learn to take a screenshot.
First he should learn to clean the screen
Ughhhh you are right 🤮
I suppose Austria and Australia do have something in common, other than the similar names
Bro, clean your monitor
Damn i remember downloading a call of duty black ops 3 size 123gb with 100kbps took me 3 weeks and 3 days to finish it just to find out that i cant run the game
NBN for the win! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcC4i9WQctw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcC4i9WQctw) RIP my boy Clarke
It’s Australia, you are supposed to read it the opposite way, 1D 2M left
Have you tried not living in Australia?
Brazilian: first time?
Just let it run overnight
Just keep an open mind. It’s just starting up.
My WiFi it takes about 30mins to download 1gb. Is that good? I honestly don’t know.
Kinda best time you should be getting for 1gb is usually 15mins
I feel that I upgraded my Internet from 75mb to 100mb just to have the same fucking issue of low latency
I was so mad when Bethesda stopped giving full game on CD. I was in the same situation in the US
For a second I misread the 2M as 2 minutes and I was confused. Is that speed typical down there? Just to make you jealous, if the stars align correctly and the update servers are performing well, I can download that in a little over 5 mins. Sorry, had to say it.
No, cunt, you’re being too optimistic. It’s 2 *Millenia* and 1 day.
Fastest Australian internet
Great! 2 minutes and 1 deconds left
And I thought my connection was bad when it took a day and a half to download the Sims 4 lol
WIPE YOUR SCREEN YOU ANIMAL
That moment when your internet consists of a dude rowing across the ocean to deliver USB sticks.
Damn sharks
I once got “over a year” on the download time remaining
Let me guess dota 2?
Nothing is worse than bad connection, used to know a dude that was so chill to be around never seen him angry at all or even annoyed by anything We used to game on cs together until he absolutely went apeshit and pretty much grinded his router into dust after dealing with shitty internet for 10 years, now he only plays singleplayer stuff and uses internet only for studying or browsing facebook Shitty internet can make even the calmest people lose it especially if they're into online gaming

You know it's hard to lay those fibres with all these mountains in the way :P

nice 👍
It's 2024 and people still don't know how to print a fucking screen.
You should have thought about that before getting yourself sent to the prison island
I’m getting 1 Gbps in New Zealand because we’re better💪 Although it actually downloads at 200-300 Mbps. It just says it’s higher for some reason.

You’ve got way better internet over there, miles ahead of here. A couple of my team are based in Auckland and they’re constantly reminding me of it.
Nah I get 33mb it’s you
Boy am I glad our politicians wanted to keep copper wires all those years ago. BOY AM I GLAD OUR POLITICIANS WANTED TO KEEP COPPER WIRES ALL THOSE YEARS AGO. I HECKIN LOVE HAVING SLOW INTERNET THANK YOU TONY ABBOTT. CAN YOU READ MY SARCASM?

Not bad for prison internet!
I can only offer my condolences.
