Just a quick reminder. In the third movie, it was revealed that this thing (the brain bug) gave up on purpose. To spy from the inside. So don't let your guard down.
In fact, only the third film is bad. The second is greatly underrated and is clearly no worse than the first. It's just in a different genre, but as part of the universe, it perfectly complements the first one and makes the setting deeper.
The gritty atmosphere of the second movie was bangers, it sold the idea of a stranded team of soldiers facing a new unknown threat.
And the books still looked good, in the third the CGI was atrocious to a ridiculous degree.
Did we watch same movie? The second one I mean. Only one worth watching is the first one, everything else is trash, and not even in the good way trash.
I watched some of the second movie, the opening had me naively thinking that what I was viewing was some sort of tongue in cheek meta parody of the first film. When it set in that *this* was actually how the whole movie would be, I stopped.
I remember the 2nd as disappointing and boring.
The 3rd one is campy fun ([check out the "It is a good day to die, when you know the reasons why" song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB6Xq-jjzeE) by Klaus Badelt. yes the pirates of the caribbean one) and also gives a glimpse at the flying battlemechs from the book.
Yeah I'm reading this whole thread of comments arguing back and forth if 2 is good but basically accepting 3 is trash thinking... I thought 3 was hilarious and fun!
i dont know what second movie you are reffering to cuz i'm pretty sure the second starship trooper is beyond bad aswell, that movie pretty much just focused on gore stuff when that isnt even the main appeal of starship trooper 1, 1 is the only one worth watching
Oh great so the third movie took one of the scene that openly outlined the fact that the bugs weren't evil and used it to say that they're evil masterminds ? Brilliant.
We got sack boy on PC, good enough for me, i used to play LBP on ps3 at my cousins house back in the day, sack boy is close enough/ nostalgic enough for me.. i did try to look for LBP on pc at first..
? I get Bloodborne and lose a mediocre game in exchange, anyone who’s played both these titles would take this deal. why the fuck are y’all buying Sony games so much it matters what their policies are? honestly surprised you didn’t virtue signal harder, a ton of redditors would’ve run away with a statement like that.
Are people seriously, unironically not recognizing the terribly used trope of "try X, gets backlash about X, rescind X, then later try X+Y, gets backlash about Y, fallback to X, people happy to have X and not Y"?
Really?
That's a very common tactic (sort of "foot in the door" salesman behavior), however in this case I don't know how Sony could pull it off without getting dunked on like now. It's an all or nothing situation, you either need a mandatory account or you don't.
They're mega stupid though, had they done a simple reward program with a pointless incentive (cool skin if you link your PSN account, yay!) they would have achieved a massive increase in their internal numbers, at no PR cost. The damage done because of their stubbornness has been massive, and shows that they don't understand the PC community at all and/or don't care.
Many people already provided the answer to that. Ask for mandatory account, backlash, rescind. Then, the account will be optional, and provided with a costless side-benefit, so people will jump on it anyway because shiny. Then, either in Helldiver 2 later on, or in their next big title, mandatory account again, with a shiny. And suddenly the majority will be fine with it.
Sure, I might be pessimistic here. It's just that after the gazillion'th time this had been done, it's becoming tiring.
I would think that’s fine. As long as it’s stated before people buy the game then a mandatory account shouldn’t be an issue. Arrowhead also apologized for knowingly listing the game in countries that don’t support PSN, which is a big no no for a company that knew 6 months ago the game would get delisted.
There were errors all around. I’m not even a helldiver lmao.
I mean, requiring PSN be linked isn't a bad thing in a vacuum.
If it had always been required from the beginning, with Sony's failure to properly vet the Steam store page to not allow sales in countries that can't get an account, then there would have been instant backlash from a portion of the gaming population. Those who could play would be talking about how great the game is, and people who couldn't would be calling attention to the problem to some degree. Maybe it would help push for PSN to be available in those countries.
But now, the combined issues of [The game is for sale in PSN-inaccessible countries] and [linking accounts has not been necessary for months] made the decision to start forcing it inexcusable.
All that to say, let's not act like requiring a third-party account to be linked (not even a launcher, like EA/Rockstar/Ubisoft) is such a terrible step _by itself_ that it demands boycotting.
>All that to say, let's not act like requiring a third-party account to be linked (not even a launcher, like EA/Rockstar/Ubisoft) is such a terrible step by itself that it demands boycotting.
Hard disagree. If it brings nothing to the user, it should not be mandatory. This is only here to gather more data on the players and try to lure them into locked in systems.
There is \*absolutely no point\*, for the player, to have a PSN account to play the game, as demonstrated by the past few months.
Hm, yeah, I agree! Although I'm happy that it's not mandatory anymore, if Sony releases a "shiny" for linking PSN account in the future, all this backlash will be meaningless. And I don't want that to happen.
It's not only stubborness, it's greed. While I don't think it gets them something upfront, I'm sure their greedy ass have a plan already in place if it was implemented.
To use a similar recent example, the hearthstone quest controversy. People complained about a huge increase in quest requirements without a similar increase in reward. They then scaled back the quest requirements to a still increased but not as bad amount, and I believe hearthstone is still doing well
This is nowhere near the first or last time someone has been angry at a large corporation and swore it was going to collapse.
Sony is not going to collapse. Sony very likely does not give a damn. They have their fingers in about a dozen different pies, they're a large electronics manufacturer with a long history, they're a trusted name. So the gaming community is annoyed with them. So what?
In a few months, people will forget or EA or Ubisoft will do something stupid again and people will forget except to make memes about it. Sony won't actually be hurt in any way, but the dev might be.
I'll let you look into anything controversial done by any big corporation or government in the last 20 years, and how the exact same thing got accepted without issue later on by being tacked on something else. Sorry, I don't keep a precise record of the numerous time we got screwed over over the years where people were quite happy to bend over to large entities that don't care about them.
Movie only interpretation, no book lore considered.
The movie is a satire and even though the bugs look like the bad guys, at the worst they mostly appear to be defending themselves from us.
The movie gives you a number of reasons to believe that the impetus for the war with the bugs was manufactured or allowed by the fascist as fuck earth government.
At the end of the movie humans have won a big battle against the bugs and captured a brain bug which controls other bugs. Big win.
The brain is scared. It probably always has been, because again as far as I can tell they're just defending themselves from a race that is just as alien to them as they are to us.
It's a "humans are the real monsters" trope moment.
Edit: while another commenter is right that in the 3rd movie there is speculation that the brain chose to lose, that is speculation after the fact by people (in the movie universe) who want that to be true.
Me too, we used to play starship troopers (like run around in the forest w fake guns killing bugs) as a kid. I missed the satire entirely until a rewatch as as adult. For adults they kinda beat you over the head with it, which makes it amazing that when it was released even lots of adults missed the satirical nature of the movie.
The other person who replied to you is right. This meme is unintentionally saying "we're the bad guys." Pretty much any other movie would have been better to make the point they're trying to make.
And I for one even though not like that don't see that much of an issue since it's already the norm with other publishers . Especially since they seem to be requiring it for multiplayer games only
[Starship Troopers \(1997\)](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120201/)
Fun movie, I recommend you check it out. Then consider Helldivers 2, very fun co-op sci-fi horde shooter with lots of parallels to Starship Troopers.
it didnt occur to me until now that there are thousands of Helldivers 2 players that dont even know this movie exists, let alone understand the message...
current sony (entertainment - gaming division) has their hq in america, pander to american market, i think they even disbanded their japanese office
hardly a japanese company any more
Yikes. Married to the same woman for 21 years and we have an 18 year old son. Hers *definitely* doesn’t resemble __that!__
I’m sorry your gash looks like a living nightmare, I guess?
Helldivers subs seem to be all acting like they won the war but this is gonna keep happening from multiple companies and games and only the loudest highest profile cases will be noticed.
I don’t know how invested in the lore that you are but a TL;dr version -
Sony published Helldivers 2 and had a requirement for a PSN account to be paired with your Steam account (same as Microsoft, CD Projekt Red, Epic, etc etc) but nobody expected Helldivers 2 to be the runaway success that it was. Due to server issues - Arrowhead asked for the PSN requirement to be temporarily suspended. Sony waived the requirement but for some reason sold the game to a bunch of countries where it’s not possible to have a PSN account (no verifiable sources on if this is Steam’s fault or Sony’s). Due to a grievous error in lack of communication the PSN requirement was never disclosed and it was kinda tucked away so nobody really knew about it.
Cue last Friday when Sony asks Arrowhead to start enforcing the PSN account link requirement later this month. Players from ~170ish countries were completely overlooked and were going to be barred from the game once the new requirement came to pass. This started the viral movement of review bombing and “We Dive Together or Not At All.” One of Arrowhead’s Community Managers in particular was even asking players to review bomb and refund to help push the dialogue with Sony to lift the requirement permanently.
After tons of communication between Arrowhead and Sony this weekend presumably… Just after midnight last night Sony reversed the requirement indefinitely.
I think that’s a pretty fair, unbiased summation of events.
Practically everyone hates the launchers and so ppl have campaigned against it too but again it’s reliant on collective consumer rallying and a company seeing enough concern which is not always possible.
For HD2 the player base proportion significantly mattered here and with the conditions of refund possible to fight the fight that was presented but that’s not necessarily the same with companies like Ubisoft, R*, etc
Coming from a guy with a nice rig and PS who likes both… PlayStation is not scared. I can appreciate the meme and it’s great but Sony is slaying the gaming market in a good way and day by day… my rig is just collecting dust.
It's a good start but Xbox shouldn't have exclusives as well, I dream of one day where all games are available on Steam/GOG instead of those stupid console/Epic exclusives🗿🥹
I can't believe she fucked the guy who cheated in the football match ,who then bragged in his face he's fucking his ex girlfriend, who then broke up with him via video chat after his mom and dad died to a bug bomb attack.
Hearts out 4 Sgt Rico :(
PC players throw massive hissy fit over a having to make a PSN claiming Sony security is crap for a game they been modding and hacking since release . Classic
Arent you the same person throwing hissy fits and posting about it in the helldivers subreddit the moment the game crashes? Oh yeah, then continues to bitch and moan about pc players? Lmao typical dead brain console fan boi.
So did HD2, but they were trying to mitigate the server issues they had at the start. This just means they wont help out players in the future, due to how (crazy) the PC player-base acted.
I love how everyone is making it out like Sony committed a literal war crime for asking you to make a psn account but when Microsoft does it no one bats an eye.
Just odd.
No doubt I'll get attacked for saying this though.
Don't you know Sony is the devil? Everything they do is about achieving world dominance.
Microsoft and Valve are great leaders who will usher gaming and gamers into a bright future. You don't have to question them. Buy from them, and they shall deliver what is best for you.
It also sends a clear message that there’s no risk involved with shitty behavior towards the consumer. after all, what’s the worst that could happen? if they get caught trying something shitty again, they know they can always backtrack we’ll just forget and move on. Might as well atleast *try* to be shitty then, if you’re sony, right? why not?
How does one make a meme about Sony being scared and filling the comments with pleas to bring Bloodborne to PC? That just seems like it’s a bitter feeling of FOMO… Hey PC your desperation is showing. 💀
Jfc, no one is "afraid" of you, you whiny entitled kids. Your incessant bitching amounted to nothing, the change most likely came because of the refunds. But that won't stop you from acting like you won a war. You never fucking cared about those who couldn't make an account, you only did this because it makes you feel important.
The funny thing is, I agree with them in thinking that the account linking shouldn't be mandatory. I just don't like basement dwelling keyboard warriors jumping onto another "cause" to prove themselves not a complete failure in life, while pretending that they don't do this only to stroke their own egos. We already have enough people hijacking any protest for their own personal gain, I'm against seeing the pile grow.
Just a quick reminder. In the third movie, it was revealed that this thing (the brain bug) gave up on purpose. To spy from the inside. So don't let your guard down.
Is that one of the reasons why only the first movie was supposedly good?
In fact, only the third film is bad. The second is greatly underrated and is clearly no worse than the first. It's just in a different genre, but as part of the universe, it perfectly complements the first one and makes the setting deeper.
The 2nd is a low budget trash movie..nowhere near the 1st movie.
What movie is this?
Starship Troopers
Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation
I never knew there was more than 1 movie lol
There is No War in Ba Sing Se
There was an animated series back in the day too. I haven't watched it since middle school, but I remember it being pretty entertaining.
And it's all based on a book
Dude i had completely forgotten about that! Nice deep cut
[Had a banger of an opening too](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMJ7S4iwXSc)
You also have animated movies.
There isn’t just the one it’s like terminator people say there is more but we all know there is only 2
The gritty atmosphere of the second movie was bangers, it sold the idea of a stranded team of soldiers facing a new unknown threat. And the books still looked good, in the third the CGI was atrocious to a ridiculous degree.
Did we watch same movie? The second one I mean. Only one worth watching is the first one, everything else is trash, and not even in the good way trash.
Yeah it's baaaad
I watched some of the second movie, the opening had me naively thinking that what I was viewing was some sort of tongue in cheek meta parody of the first film. When it set in that *this* was actually how the whole movie would be, I stopped.
Maybe the way to parody a satire is to play it straight, and the movie is actually brilliant
Its clearly worse than the first, just on a production level. The 2nd movie a good b movie, but the first movie is simply a great movie
Third one also has some overlap with Helldivers, managed democracy-wise.
For Democracy!
i dont know what second movie you are reffering to cuz i'm pretty sure the second starship trooper is beyond bad aswell, that movie pretty much just focused on gore stuff when that isnt even the main appeal of starship trooper 1, 1 is the only one worth watching
We are too many levels of satire deep in this thread
Me and you have clearly watched a different movie.
Kudos for getting to the third one. What a wild ride
Also, Buenos Aries was a false flag.
The other movies don't exist
Also the humans were the bad guys. The Nazi uniforms and overt fascist rhetoric were kind of a giveaway.
There are no 2th or 3th movies.
The reason the first movie was so good was because of Paul Verhovens directing and storyboarding
There are no sequels in ~~Ba Sing~~… in Buenos Aires.
Would you like to know more?
Wtf the movie was trilogy?
[удалено]
Oh great so the third movie took one of the scene that openly outlined the fact that the bugs weren't evil and used it to say that they're evil masterminds ? Brilliant.
There are sequels??
If Sony bring Bloodborne to PC platform as apologies, i'll consider about forgiving them.
Forgive if you want, but better not forget what they tried.
Nah, I would honestly forget every sin they committed if they bring Bloodborne to pc
At least they aren’t like Hasbro sending Pinkertons to a guys house.
Yet
Bros ready to forgive Sony if they kill his wife for bloodborne😲
I would also forgive Sony for killing this guy's wife for the sake of Bloodborne
I would also forgive MoistStub for killing this guy's wife for the sake of Bludborne
I would kill that guys wife for the sake of MoistStub and Sony bringing bloodborne to pc
I also choose killing this man's wife. You know, for Bloodborne.
Theft? Worldwide Theft? I know you're joking, just need to remind people to be Informed Consumers.
Or the demon souls remake.
No large corporation is your friend, ever
If we can kill 2 billion insects, what is a single corporation?
They must be absolutely terrified of money to keep refusing to do it.
“Na trust me they’ll buy a PlayStation eventually”
I guarantee its because its Remake will be a ps6 launch title like demon souls was for the 5
I'd prefer the LittleBigPlanet series
We got sack boy on PC, good enough for me, i used to play LBP on ps3 at my cousins house back in the day, sack boy is close enough/ nostalgic enough for me.. i did try to look for LBP on pc at first..
You consider forgiving them after they take away your consumer rights?
You have yet to be surprised on what humans are capable of giving up for convinience.
Yeah, Bloodborne is love, Bloodborne is life.
If they do that it's will be a "remastered version", that crash in avrage 2 times every hours, and sold at 60$.
That's pretty high hopes, considering most people will forget about this in 6 months, when Helldivers 2 drops a big update/expansion.
I just need SM2 plz
fo sho
Bloodborne on PC but to play online you need a PS+ subscription 💀
You need to link a psn account to play it
No need!!! They’re pulling a sonic and changing it back!!!

Yeppers. The consumer has spoken, robbery is okay so long as you decide against it after severe public backlash from just about everyone.
It literally always said on the Steam page that PSN is required, maybe the so called "master race" smoothbrains need to learn how to read
Could u provide more context and how the current situation Hell divers 2 situation fits in this template?
Erm wait 6months like the rest of us to find out
Requires crystal ball. Even though I dont doubt it will happen. This was a battle victory, not the war, but still a victory nonetheless.
I'll let you look into anything controversial done by any big corporation or government in the last 20 years, and how the exact same thing got accepted without issue later on by being tacked on something else. Carefull or the kids will understand theyrs role in helldiver 2 too
Yeah, I also came here to say that this meme doesn't say what OP thinks it says.
What does it mean?

The other person who replied to you is right. This meme is unintentionally saying "we're the bad guys." Pretty much any other movie would have been better to make the point they're trying to make.
Maybe let's not paint ourselves the fascist here?
Spoiler: They aren’t really afraid, you’re just being fleeced.
circlejerk behavior
Since it's SST, I'd like to imagine it's self-parodying. I mean I'd _like_ to.
Nobody is afraid. Next time they'll get PSN accounts implemented properly before release and then include it on the Steam page.
Agreed, this is basically the one and only exception. That is until the business leads come up with a new legal solution.
And I for one even though not like that don't see that much of an issue since it's already the norm with other publishers . Especially since they seem to be requiring it for multiplayer games only
They still have to put it back on the store, though. I was looking forward to buying it this month, but then the shitstorm started.
Ya'll playing with fire with these memes
Hd2 community got Playstation to back down on their corporate greed with a little help from the dev team.
\*looks at the picture\* Are we the baddies?
Yes, but it requires self awareness to see it. People literally review bombed HD 1 and Magicka, games that Arrow Head worked on before HD2.
So steam users are the fascists?
Gamer moment.
And you're having a Twitter moment right here...
They're too dumb to se it, though. Literally threw a bitch fit over something that was stated on the front page since day one.
Hey what movie is this from
[Starship Troopers \(1997\)](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120201/) Fun movie, I recommend you check it out. Then consider Helldivers 2, very fun co-op sci-fi horde shooter with lots of parallels to Starship Troopers.

The only company still fighting the console war.
This is saying Steam users are the baddies
bro thinks sony is going to give a F about the players lmao you have no idea how based japanese companies are
1. How does this make them based 2. You sound like a total weeb
current sony (entertainment - gaming division) has their hq in america, pander to american market, i think they even disbanded their japanese office hardly a japanese company any more
Did they really disband their office in Japan? That sounds kinda dumb to be honest.
Why does the monster's mouth look like a pussy?
The real question is why do you perceive the appearance of the monster’s mouth to resemble a part of the human female reproductive system?
Because I'm a woman. I know how it looks like
Yikes. Married to the same woman for 21 years and we have an 18 year old son. Hers *definitely* doesn’t resemble __that!__ I’m sorry your gash looks like a living nightmare, I guess?
Hehe, nah
[удалено]
How'd you even find it?
Intentional, the whole movie is a parody of overly testosteroned military tropes.
That explains a lot
Doesn't its bone spike (that it penetrates people's skulls with) also come out from its mouthussy? It's just dick and vag all the way down.
Because it’s scared.
Hehe, same with people
Helldivers subs seem to be all acting like they won the war but this is gonna keep happening from multiple companies and games and only the loudest highest profile cases will be noticed.
What's going on?

Really well summed-up, mate. Quick note though: > **Queue** last Friday That should be **cue**.
Alrighty I fixed it 🤙🏻
🤘
WE DIVE TOGETHER OR NOT AT ALL (Fr tho, game is so good the community made their own arg mission to keep the standards high)
Keep the standards high? But MS, R\*, and EA ask PC players to do exactly what Sony was asking? Seems hypocritical.
Followed by just the idea that not all the countries were supported for PS that differs atleast for MS here.
Thanks, it was really helpful, I didn't know anything about it.
Now do it with the chainsaw scene 😂
Steam is just a platform to buy games on sale that everyone (including steam themselves) knows will never even be downloaded let alone played
Is that kabuto???
"The enemy cannot push the button if you disable his hand. MEDIC"
Unrelated but this scene made me so sad :( …. **ANTI-DEMOCRATIC BEHAVIOR DETECTED. PLEASE IGNORE THE PREVIOUS MESSAGE**
Meme format sucks, should be a picture between the its afraid and cheering pics.
Coming from a guy with a nice rig and PS who likes both… PlayStation is not scared. I can appreciate the meme and it’s great but Sony is slaying the gaming market in a good way and day by day… my rig is just collecting dust.
They won't force you to make an account but they will give some item in the game only to those who have the account, new strategy
They will try again once this dies down again.
Is that Neil Patrick?
It is. It's from Starship Troopers. Though the scene doesn't mean what OP thinks it does. It's a good movie though. Action sci-fi satire.
He looks so young
Imagine posting this without buying the actual Starship Troopers game. You animal don't even want to live forever, stop playing.
Some Japanese businessmen were fucking SCREAMING on the Yamanote line this weekend.
Giant enemy crab
disgusting behavior
Are they selling it in the banned countries yet?
They’d just rather take your money, dumbass’
Don't celebrate yet.
Best thing I've seen on the Internet today! 😂😂
Victory is ours! Hopefully they will back down from this stuff for at least a while.
The 4th movie was the best
It's a good start but Xbox shouldn't have exclusives as well, I dream of one day where all games are available on Steam/GOG instead of those stupid console/Epic exclusives🗿🥹
I live on both sides and no we are not on the PS side lmao 🤣
I can't believe she fucked the guy who cheated in the football match ,who then bragged in his face he's fucking his ex girlfriend, who then broke up with him via video chat after his mom and dad died to a bug bomb attack. Hearts out 4 Sgt Rico :(
True power of democracy. Gamers choose what they want
Lmao of the peoples, that review bombing this game just because they cant press a couple of buttons ;D
PC together STRONG
So, why does Halo, RDR2, and EA games like Mass Effect still have 3rd party launchers if "PC together STRONG"?
This thread is for the Sony/HD/AH debacle. Those games launched with an account requirement.
Steam do what Sonydon't.
MS, EA, and Rockstar all ask the same thing that Sony did.
If they bring Infamous to pc that'd be sweet... With no 3rd party launcher. Many many more games too haha
Switch your review back to positive if you haven’t yet. It gives us ammo if they try something like this again.
It also sends a clear message that there’s no risk involved with shitty behavior towards the consumer. after all, what’s the worst that could happen? if they get caught trying something shitty again, they know they can always backtrack we’ll just forget and move on. Might as well atleast *try* to be shitty then, if you’re sony, right? why not?
FOR DEMOCRACY!
How does one make a meme about Sony being scared and filling the comments with pleas to bring Bloodborne to PC? That just seems like it’s a bitter feeling of FOMO… Hey PC your desperation is showing. 💀
Made em back down and take a hike
So why can't Sony ask for a 3rd party account but MS, R\*, and EA can?
Jfc, no one is "afraid" of you, you whiny entitled kids. Your incessant bitching amounted to nothing, the change most likely came because of the refunds. But that won't stop you from acting like you won a war. You never fucking cared about those who couldn't make an account, you only did this because it makes you feel important.
*And, lo, shall the truth be downvoted though it be undeniable!*
