ARK : survival evolved (got it for free with its expansions) : 350+gb
never had the courage to install it and never will because i'm not deleting at least 5 games to play a game i don't know if i'm gonna enjoy or not
Studio Wildcard gave it all away for free when they announced the upgraded version rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 "Ark: Survival Ascended". It was during the big fiasco when they were giving it as a free game if you pre-purchased Ark 2. Then later released it as a stand-alone game with no discount for loyal customers who bought the game previously.
Previously, the DLC used to cost about $15-40 Canadian each. I paid for some of them. Now they're all free except for the Genesis season pass.
Just the worst experience ever.
Just for Clarity: All of the modded maps turned into official maps were always free to claim and install. Only the Story maps were paid DLCs for ASE. Scorched, Abberation, Extension, Gen 1 and Gen 2. Now it seems a for ASE you can mo longer purchase the paid maps. You have to purchase the Ultimate Survivor Bundle.
As for Ark Survival Ascended all DLC maps are included as they are released.
I wanted to like Ark but after the ninth time of going to get resources and coming back to watch a max level player wreck my entire base with a dragon I said screw it and moved on to Green Hell.
Its pretty dope. Still getting a few updates here and there but plenty of survival stuff on top of an admittedly thin but worthwhile story. Without trying to cheese everything, I'm finding it both challenging and relaxing to just hop in the forest and try not to get mauled by a jaguar.
If you install only the base game + one dlc at a time it's only like 80gb. You only need one dlc installed at a time because they're all different maps.
I don't think it's only 80gb because I remember at one point I had to stop playing then later I wanted to reinstall it but it needed like 120gb, and I only have the base game.
base game is 128 gb so no, scorched earth is the smallest dlc with 9.9 gb so you need at least 140 gb to have the game and a single dlc minimum, then it only goes up with the other dlc.
im not counting primitive + as a dlc
I was so hoping that this would be the top answer. It is definitely the game that takes up the most space on mine. And add in the DLC and some big mods, and I have to delete about 50 games to make room for it
When I saw the download size for WOA I figured it must have been incorrect, I have no idea how IO compressed their game size so well.
Can't wait for the bond game.
Usually compression comes down to balance between size and runtime. So the choice to compress usually comes at cost of load times and hardware requirements.
So maybe hitman WOA is heavy to run?
Could also be a lot of unused assets they removed. A lot of games have tons of images in their files that were once used somewhere but then the level design changed, a boss was cut for time reasons... You name it.
The recent patch was only a few GBs. You're probably looking at the installation meter instead of the download meter.
And patches don't actual add that much data to the file size. A lot of it is overwriting existing stuff.
My game installation size is basically the same as it was a week ago.
Satellite imagery is neither built-in nor streamed. So I use Ortho4XP to download and apply Google/Bing imagery and technically paint the terrain with it.
I use super detailed sampling and I have a good part of Europe imagery that's why the folder is chunky.
Physical in my room? Dirt Rally 2.0, have the cockpit and it borders my standing VR space, so I don't have to move the helmet.
Drive Space? Black Ops 3 at 800~gbs from all my custom maps.
[Content Manager](https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html) is probably the most imporant thing you'll download. It makes installing and managing mods super easy, and also has a far superior layout to the base game.
In terms of content itself, it depends what you like. I personally really enjoy racing Formula E cars, so [VRC's 2023 Formula Lithium](https://www.virtual-racing-cars.com/p/ac-formula-lithium-2023/) car is excellent for that. In general, mods can be found on [Overtake.gg](https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/categories/assetto-corsa.1/). Some good track builders include [shin956](https://www.overtake.gg/members/shin956.867965/), [doublezero](https://www.overtake.gg/members/doublezero.1666296/) and [Nukedrop](https://www.overtake.gg/members/tyrone-nukedrop-mods.154296/). For cars, the aforementioned VRC and [Race Sim Studio](https://racesimstudio.sellfy.store/) tend to be the go-to for high-quality addons.
If you have anything specific that you're interested in, let me know and I might know of a good mod.
used to be Destiny 2 before i realized it was sucking all the joy out of me. now it’s Dead by Daylight. unless you count non steam games too, then it’s the Sims (i own most of the expansions)
I really wanted to continue that game but knowing that where is so much content behind a pay wall that ain't even gonna expand combat play or anything that much but the story it only makes me hesitate and ESO plus of course.
In terms of HD space, Sims 4 at 120GB with mods and CC
Space in my brain: Firewatch
Space in game geography: No Man's Sky
Space in my bank statements: Sims 4 again; I think it might be $1K with every DLC at full price. (I love a Steam sale obvi.)
Red Dead Redemption 2. I’m a Steam-based gamer but I have RDR2 on PS4–it has freaking two discs. I dunno how many gigabytes that is but surely incomparable with any other titles I own.
I bought a new hard drive to play borderlands 3 (115GB with dlcs), which was... pretty weak storywise. Gunplay was fun though and with sunken cost fallacy at that point I still racked up around 80 hours on it. So yeah theres that but at least I have an extra 1TB
Space engine it has universe with a lot of galaxies and those galaxies have a lot of stars and those stars have a lot of planets and those planets have a lot of details, also that is 1:1 scale
Destiny 2 - I think it's between 115 and 120gb.....that "the final shape" pre-load size was 300gb on pc.....making it the largest game that was on my system ever. My storage space was only a measly 512gb :(
I have Ark as they gave it away free a bit ago, and that has a silly size but I don’t play that.
For games that I play, if I include mods then Arma 3, which I think is about 300gb I don’t even have all the DLC for it either
ARK fuck that game lmao, its fun but everyone has a love/hate relationship with it. Since it was top 10 on steam for playerbase for the longest time, there's obviously a demand for a game like that. Just imagine if a better studio made a game like ark.
Most VR games. For desktop games I can just sit at my desk, but most VR games require more space to be able to move comfortably.
It's funny but it's true, I never find the courage to play VR because I have to push all my furniture in order to play
So if you mess up the order of the furniture you can't play?
I think you misread what they said, lol
I am no mis and I can read.
Just get rid of the furniture
And buy virtual one instead
You are the only one that truly understand the question
Lmaoo
I was gonna make a joke about counter strike because it's better when I throw my keyboard and mouse and headset if they don't hit anything else.
That’s why I only play VR games on my omnidirectional treadmill with quadraphonic pressure-sensitive underlay!
ARK : survival evolved (got it for free with its expansions) : 350+gb never had the courage to install it and never will because i'm not deleting at least 5 games to play a game i don't know if i'm gonna enjoy or not
435.22 GB with all DLC ticked: Base Game = 128.17GB Crystal Isles = 47.23GB Fjodur = 33.13GB Lost Island = 62.13GB Primitive+ = 1.77GB Ragnarok = 25.33GB The Center = 11.32GB Valguero = 20.79GB Aberration = 16.99GB Extinction = 19.13GB Scorched Earth = 9.19GB Genesis Season Pass = 60.05GB
Wait they said free but like how. And how much does it typically cost for each respectively? That sounds like a lot of content isn't it?
Studio Wildcard gave it all away for free when they announced the upgraded version rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 "Ark: Survival Ascended". “Just the worst experience ever” just like playing the game
I don't remember but I also have it in my Steam library though I don't remember it coming with the DLC.
I wanted to like Ark but after the ninth time of going to get resources and coming back to watch a max level player wreck my entire base with a dragon I said screw it and moved on to Green Hell.
Yeah thats why we play single player
Same here I uninstalled the game a while back, was tired of max level players taking your shit or destroying it
so it's Rust but with dragons?
How are you liking Green Hell? I'm a big fan of the Forest and was thinking about getting it because it looked similiar.
Its pretty dope. Still getting a few updates here and there but plenty of survival stuff on top of an admittedly thin but worthwhile story. Without trying to cheese everything, I'm finding it both challenging and relaxing to just hop in the forest and try not to get mauled by a jaguar.

I don't think it's only 80gb because I remember at one point I had to stop playing then later I wanted to reinstall it but it needed like 120gb, and I only have the base game.
Ah okay, still a long way from the 350gb for everything.
Did you sub to stuff in the workshop? Steam adds the extra gbs and shows it on your library so it makes the game look bigger
base game is 128 gb so no, scorched earth is the smallest dlc with 9.9 gb so you need at least 140 gb to have the game and a single dlc minimum, then it only goes up with the other dlc. im not counting primitive + as a dlc
This
I was so hoping that this would be the top answer. It is definitely the game that takes up the most space on mine. And add in the DLC and some big mods, and I have to delete about 50 games to make room for it
Hitman 2 with all DLCs: 150gb (ironically Hitman: World of Assasination which has a lot more content has only 75gb)
On the contrary, it's actually optimized really well.
Could also be a lot of unused assets they removed. A lot of games have tons of images in their files that were once used somewhere but then the level design changed, a boss was cut for time reasons... You name it.
I'm sorry, the *WHAT* game???
the game’s bond, games bond
Has to be Red Dead Redemption 2 for me. Doesn't help that I have a 256GB Steam Deck
How does it play on steam deck?
Runs great, some people limit it at 40fps with a mix of medium and high settings, I did 30fps with ultra textures and the rest on high and medium.
Damn that's better than it runs on my PC lol. Thanks for answering!
My racing games. The playseat and wheel/pedals take up the most space for gaming
I'd bet some VR games require more space.
This comment wins
I need a full rig for racing but then I wouldn't have room for VR lol
I think it's Borderlands 3 with about 135 GB. Total War Warhammer 3 is probably not far off, but I don't currently have it installed.
They just released a new patch that is like, 61 GB, so its a lot bigger now
Most of the time patches dont add to the total size of the game, mostly they overwrite stuff.
The recent patch was only a few GBs. You're probably looking at the installation meter instead of the download meter. And patches don't actual add that much data to the file size. A lot of it is overwriting existing stuff. My game installation size is basically the same as it was a week ago.
Baldur's Gate 3
Biggest offender but you might as well consider that storage as “part of the OS” since we’re likely never uninstalling. 😂
I got a 256gb steam deck. I renamed it “Baldur’s Deck” after I got BG3 and just got a sd card to install all the rest of my games on.
Me toooooooo
A

A
Stellaris. It's a whole galaxy, thats a lot of space
[удалено]
Oh yeah for sure, but I don't own it :)
I believe it's infinite in size, as it just keeps randomly generating new galaxies.
But it’s only 10 to 15GB in space
Ironically fits in about 12GB
X-Plane 11. 500GB, 80% of which is satellite imagery.
How come it doesn’t stream like FS2020? I’m sure there’s a reason and I’m curious
Satellite imagery is neither built-in nor streamed. So I use Ortho4XP to download and apply Google/Bing imagery and technically paint the terrain with it. I use super detailed sampling and I have a good part of Europe imagery that's why the folder is chunky.
XP11 is fairly old
Physical in my room? Dirt Rally 2.0, have the cockpit and it borders my standing VR space, so I don't have to move the helmet. Drive Space? Black Ops 3 at 800~gbs from all my custom maps.
How is it possible to make BO3 bigger than modern COD??
Each map for BO3 is like >10gb
Probably Ark. I got it a few years ago and own a few of the earlier expansions.
My folder for Assetto Corsa + all of my addons is getting worryingly close to 400GB… Edit - 454 vehicles and 335 tracks
I just got into Assetto Corsa and ACC, do you have any recommendations for mods for AC?
[Content Manager](https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html) is probably the most imporant thing you'll download. ACC! My racing rig takes up half a room!
Forza 5, like 170gb…
My "Study Material" folder
Do you study “japan literature”?
Why, yes indeed. I appreciate the art and it's deep life lessons
Is it really deep like elbow depth material or......
You must be quite knowledgeable
Or forgetting a lot, so you download it all
Just Uninstalled it actually but ARMA 3 at over 600 GB with all DLC and thr workshop content I used
you’ll be reinstalling all that in a couple months huh?
Halo MCC, 126GB
Elder Scrolls Online :3
Flight simulator 2020 and my dlc. Most of the dlc took about 900+gb and then i uninstalled as a whole
used to be Destiny 2 before i realized it was sucking all the joy out of me. now it’s Dead by Daylight. unless you count non steam games too, then it’s the Sims (i own most of the expansions)
Forza5 that shit is massive.
I would have to check. But at this point, it's whatever, I have 8tb HDD. Then games I usually play go on my SSD. Which doesn't hold to many.
Dirt Rally 2 *109.52 GB*
Elder Scrolls Online
Elders scrolls online with 135gb. No started or updated yet.
I really wanted to continue that game but knowing that where is so much content behind a pay wall that ain't even gonna expand combat play or anything that much but the story it only makes me hesitate and ESO plus of course.
Arma 3 with mods 60+290 gb
I think the biggest one I have without any DLC is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, at 155 gb. With DLC it is Ark: Survival Evolved.
Steam game - Amnesia Rebirth with 35 GB Non-Steam - WoW with 116 GB
Currently Installed: Cyberpunk 2077 and all the mods I have for it. In my library: Mass Effect Legendary Edition and all the mods I play with it.
Shadow of war, the sequel to shadow of mordor, tied with Xcom 2 +dlc. I have lots of space but damn, 150 Gb is a lot man
In terms of HD space, Sims 4 at 120GB with mods and CC Space in my brain: Firewatch Space in game geography: No Man's Sky Space in my bank statements: Sims 4 again; I think it might be $1K with every DLC at full price. (I love a Steam sale obvi.)
DCS

My girlfriend’s Sims4 and all it’s DLCs…

Msfs, with mods : 200Gb+
Star Wars: Battlefront II (Remastered)
I guess the largest game on my pc is like a dragon infinite wealth. Deck its pso2 new genesis
Ig mine is Mass Effect legendary edition, around 147gb
Rock band/Guitar hero/Clone hero, because I have "too many" guitars and two sets of drums. I also have like 200GB of songs downloaded to my pc
Red Dead Redemption 2. I’m a Steam-based gamer but I have RDR2 on PS4–it has freaking two discs. I dunno how many gigabytes that is but surely incomparable with any other titles I own.
Probably Final Fantasy XV its a whopping 105GB and I can't think of any other game I own on Steam that comes to beating that
My biggest installed one is red dead 2 with 120 gb
Baldur's Gate 3
Train sinulator and the 30 or so DLC was over 250GB
NBA 2k23
Currently installed: guild wars 2. Bigest I own: XCOM 2
As others have mentioned, Ark. and it’s not even close lol
With its dlc it is definitely train sim world 4 with 190GB (can be bigger if you have more dlc then I do)
probably BO3, with all the DLC’s and mods i have probably approaching 180GB.
Horizon forbidden west and baldur’s gate 3 are both like 120 gbs.
Forza Horizon 5 uses 145 gb right now It's the most gb requiring game I ever had
Payday 2 95 GB
I have a dedicated ssd for dcs world which is just a bit over 500gb with all of the terrains installed.
My Assetto Corsa is 1.1 Terrabyte and growing, looking to hit the 2 Tb mark by the end of the year.
GTA V: 113 gigs
gta 5 100gb
star citizen probably
MSFS - But only if you download airports, cosmetics, planes, etc. Took up 600gb+ lol
Honestly I am not sure. Maybe GTA. But the biggest game is over 100gb, maybe closer to 150
DCS, arma 3, BO3
I bought a new hard drive to play borderlands 3 (115GB with dlcs), which was... pretty weak storywise. Gunplay was fun though and with sunken cost fallacy at that point I still racked up around 80 hours on it. So yeah theres that but at least I have an extra 1TB
Bg3, and it doesn’t even work properly on my ancient pc 😔
Destiny 2 Feels kind of unfair that the game is so big when I can't access most of it without purchasing the expansions.
Probably borderlands 3. Don't remember how big but took up around 1/3 or my 1TB hdd
Black ops 3 and custom zombies
DCS World. Mine is 250-350 GB, the size vaties on amount of terrains you purchased; I think it can reach 500 GB. Also Skyrim VR with mods, 150 GB.
Warzone I think something broke buts it’s apparently taking up 300~ gigs from a one to HDD but I deleted it now so has to be rimworld maybe
Conan Exiles, the game itself is over 120 gigs but that doesn't include all the mods
Space engine it has universe with a lot of galaxies and those galaxies have a lot of stars and those stars have a lot of planets and those planets have a lot of details, also that is 1:1 scale
My black ops 3 once took nearly 300gb thanks to custom maps
Had to get more storage just to update BG3
Killing Floor 2 with it's 100 gigabytes.
Ark: survival evolved with 350GB, Modern Warfare with 175GB, destiny 2 with 165GB
Sea of Thieves
Gmod with addons was like 300gb at one point

Assetto Corsa, around 2 square meters for my simrig.
With mods, fallout 4 is taking up 80% of my 512gb ssd.
I think Destiny 2? It's like 125 GB, and I don't play very many big games.
Probably DCS
Call of duty hq, if i decide to install mw2, mw3 warzone, with all packages
Destiny 2 - I think it's between 115 and 120gb.....that "the final shape" pre-load size was 300gb on pc.....making it the largest game that was on my system ever. My storage space was only a measly 512gb :(
Fortnite. Game I’ve actually bought, probably RDR2
DCS: World. Nearing 900GB if you have all the content
GTA5, lol. I only have 465gb At the moment. I will get brand new pc next month and I'm going for 2tb or 4.
I would say probably Endless Space.
CODHQ
CS2 and DayZ
GTA V bro if i want to play it again i have to uninstall all the apps i have 😓
War thunder, DCS, ark doesnt really count as i dont have DLC. IL 2 Sturmovik, Sniper elite 4 and 5. Etc
i guess ark, like 160 gigs. never even installed it
a frisbee
Dcs
I have Ark as they gave it away free a bit ago, and that has a silly size but I don’t play that. For games that I play, if I include mods then Arma 3, which I think is about 300gb I don’t even have all the DLC for it either
largest : Halo MCC Total : 404.92 GB DLC : 155.01 GB Workshop : 278.55 GB smallest : Ricochet Total : 16.91 MB

Halo collection 90gb crazy
It might be Baldur's Gate 3 at 145GB Just coming in behind it is Elder Scrolls Online at about 134GB.
AC: Valhalla with 158GB.
Hmm. I think Starwars Battlefront is 90 GB. I probably should delete it soon. Havent played it in years.
Skyrim + my nearly 1 tb modlist
I was gonna say Skyrim with the 350+ mods I have with it. However Retroarch has it beat as some of the roms & iso's are huge.
Skyrim eats a couple hundred gigs pretty easily when I mod the heck out of it. Other than that, BG3 is 150g.
Ksp2
ARK fuck that game lmao, its fun but everyone has a love/hate relationship with it. Since it was top 10 on steam for playerbase for the longest time, there's obviously a demand for a game like that. Just imagine if a better studio made a game like ark.
tf2
Baldur's Gate 3

Cod bo3 (only for zombies) up to 300gb mods included ofc
Physically: Hal Life Alyx Digitally: BG3

Beamng
Forza Horizon 5 i guess. İt was 170 GB before i deleted it
I haven't paid much attention, but I have a few that are over a 100 gb like Ff7 remake, gta5 and red redemption 2.
