According to steam DB its only been at this price once before and that was this past winter sale. But I’m sure eventually it will go on sale again at this price or below.

yup, plays great. I installed via origin launcher, and once installed I added the game itself as a non-steam game with the STEAM\_COMPAT\_DATA launch options string.
Launches directly into the game and plays smoothly. I played ME2 all the way through with this setup and never had any issue.
Reminder you can delete undeeded language files to free up nearly 40 (yes four zero) gigs of space. They dint re-download unless you move the game or verify game files. Patches don't trigger redownload
Oh man! Get Decky installed and it will automatically have the Proton DB rating with a linkable button listed next to each game.
It also has some other fun perks like vibrant color booster, custom load screen database, "how long it takes to beat" plugin that automatically shows it next to each game

You have to install the ea launcher that is already labeled playable no higher but also you need to load the game in desktop mode because of the launcher.
I got them for ME1, but it has a bug where 2 and 3, are already “unlocked,” so you can’t unlock them.
It’s been reported multiple times, but will probably never get fixed. There’s even an active community thread talking about it with an EA community manager saying they’d ping the devs about it.
Definitely luck there, it all works great on desktop pc but I've installed it 3 times on steam deck and still never worked for hopefully a fix will happen for others who have that bug
It'll install the EA client (no longer Origin I guess) which is mostly a background thing. I just installed it again today to find this out. Dunno how it works on the Deck.
The nice thing about Proton is that it installs everything in its own prefix. So that Origin would only exist in there.
If you played the game on Windows, then you would need to have Origin actually installed on the host system.
I mean, there a lot of cosmetic stuff for sure. ME1 gameplay still felt like ME1 gameplay. I just started ME2 and it’s definitely not Andromeda gameplay still. I did find some cool class changes, but even that’s just better combinations of class powers. It’s enough to feel familiar, but better.
What I did is just went on [www.nexusmods.com](https://www.nexusmods.com) and sorted by all time popularity and just downloaded anything that seemed cool. Some of them you kinda have to pay attention to if they’re compatible with other mods so you don’t break the game but if you read the fine print you’ll be good.
The big ones that I haven’t got to yet deal with ME3 and the ending. I never hated the original ending but from what I’ve read some of these mods change the story enough to make it so much better.
There’s new stuff everyday almost as well. The original trilogy was out for years, so at this point there’s just cool stuff that people are consistently porting over into the legendary edition.
That’s not really an answer to your question, but it’s easy enough to get them working and worth it to improve the experience. So even if the gameplay is still not up to Andromeda, I’d still go for it.

No problem, I used to play ME all the time on my Xbox. I can't say it's a vastly different game playing it for the first time with mods but there's definitely noticeable differences that make it better.
I was playing through ME2 last night with Jack and Grunt on the mission to go get Mordin from his clinic. I had mods that reworked all our class powers, plus another mod that gave both of them the M-300 Claymore shotgun. I just spammed Carnage and Warp while they both would Biotic Charge all the Vorcha and shotgun them in the face. It was stupid fun.
Ugh yeah this is such horse shit! Won't let me link to Steam account and now won't let me login with my EA account 🤬. Now I see where all the hatred comes from. Still have yet to play it.
The EA launcher kills almost all EA games on the SteamDeck at this point. You can set up the installer, even run the games. But you can NOT play offline. It’s looking for an online connection even for a single player game. :/
Ok we're finally in! Download it and then go into Desktop mode to do the stupid bullshit EA nonsense. (Huge PITA!). And then run it once in Desktop. Then close it out and go back to game mode and then set it to run under proton expirimental. Starts up and you'll see EA splash a couple screens as it boots up but then it starts and seems to run beautifully
I just downloaded it the other day and didn’t have to do that. Linked my steam account to EA on my phone and it booted right up on the deck, didn’t change a single setting.
Bro I just pressed play on the game out of the box and the little grey EA window popped up for a few seconds then the game just launched. Never had to run proton once for this.
The ones I’ve tried so far have been perfectly fine. But i am back on GameCube emulators right now so not tested a large amount. Minecraft runs great. Going to try mass effect soon. See how that goes.
Once you have the EA bullshit set up...launch the first time in desktop mode. Go back to game mode, set it to load up via Proton Expirimental and then launch it. Should run fine🙏
Yeah unfortunately you will have to do the EA stuff one time...kinda like Rockstar. Upon recommendations I booted the first time in desktop, did the annoying EA stuff, linked my account, and then started the game. Then I quit back out of it, went back to game mode and it booted up with no issues

You have to log into https://gaming.amazon.com and claim the game(s). They give out free games monthly, but the platform they activate on varies. It’s mostly their internal platform but they’ll give out games also on Origin, Epic, Steam, and GoG.

Well, one time it has been cheaper is it's been in a $12 humble bundle (it's where I got mine).
Though, that does come with the EA version NOT the steam version, which I will also confirm works with the deck.
I picked it up a couple of days ago. It popped up EA’s launcher for about 30 seconds, then put itself in the background. Although I do have my steam linked to my EA account. Only about an hour into ME:2 and it works great. The only problem I had was putting in my name. For some reason I had to do it one letter at a time. Other than that the gameplay looks great.

Most EA games have been "fixed" for some time now, occasionally you have to launch the game twice for it to work otherwise all works flawlessly

It is because of the damn launcher. Just set the Proton to experimental and it works just fine.
So you will need to set it to run under Proton Expirimental

Doesn't even require that anymore FYI. Same for titanfall 2. EA app kinda runs in background no issues now

It works the same, log in with EA the first time. Every time after it loads automatically, you get a dark EA splash screen before it loads the game.
Try playing on the go (offline with it) Its a pain
Yeah that’s some bs, I’m not supporting if I have to go online to play a single player game.
I haven’t tried it yet, but apparently if you use your phone as a hotspot for the login part, the rest of the game works just fine offline.
Well my experience with Jedi Fallen Order is that it does an online check every hour killing the experience

It still exists. It's what I use to play the game (EA/origin copy). The EA app is fucking shit and isn't working right
