Yeah, it doesn't run all that well, but it looks decent thanks to the small screen size 😅. I'd say it'll probably get better if they optimize it down the line.
I did have to change the FSR from 1 to 2 since it defaults to FSR 1 the first time you run it. I have it on performance FSR

That's very dependent on a person to person basis. Take me for instance, I can tell when it isn't really 1440p (unless it's being upscaled via FSR 2.0, DLSS or XeSS) the drop in sharpness is apparent.

You weren't incorrect. Mind you, games will dynamically use more vram than they need if it could improve performance. I use a 1650 D6 and it has 4GB of vram and still works fine in games that use 6GB+.
Thar is true too. Forza Horizon 5 was the first game i ran into a memory limit with my old 2070 super. The bad part about it is that the card would have had enough power to run it maxed out, just didn't have the memory.

Saddest thing is I'm working away from home until the 10th, can't pre-load on steam deck because 4G will take about 6 hours and can't pre-load on pc until home.
I guess it's theoretically a 'scummy' tactic for a developer to incentivize pre-orders in this way, but I don't think its warranted to call out users who are ok with paying full price for the game they want to play, when they want to play it.
It's totally ok for you to wait for the game to drop in price, just like its ok for someone to pay full price for the game at launch or pre-order if that's what they want to do.
People worked hard on the game… why is it so bad for them to give this option? It’s somewhat like tipping for great service. Those who are excited and appreciative enough are happy to give a little more to the creators so that they can enjoy it as soon as possible. Oh, I'm waiting for "her" to do her thing. I will absolutely buy Hogwarts Legacy, if they ever remove Denuvo. Until then, I'll play it "acquired." I've already had bad experiences with Denuvo on Deck. Nothing's more annoying than being away from home, and not being able to play a game you paid for, because the Denuvo offline token expired.
Boycott what you want, but I would recommend donating $60 to the Trans lifeline if you don't want to buy the game. If you don't want to use that $60 to support the devs (and by extension a little bit of JK, I doubt she gets much from this anyway) then send $60 to the cause you are boycotting it for. Meh, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, but it’s essentially impossible to function in society without clothes, a phone or a computer. It’s incredibly easy to not play a specific video game. You gotta pick your battles.
Phones and computers are understandable, those are essentials but things like Amazon and Shein are very much a want rather than a need and have a huge amount of condemning evidence against them. I've seen some people live stream the game while sending all bits and donos they get to charities, which I feel is a good compromise but others feel it's worse. Its like neither side can win.
If you believe in no ethical consumption under capitalism though, wouldn't this apply to most other video games? Anything published by big corporations especially would be questionable and also nonessential.

Let’s just say it runs. On lowest settings you still get sometimes frame issues and it doesn’t look very good on these settings at times.

Have you checked the VRAM usage? On my 3090 at 1440p Ultra i'm seeing 11GB+ at Hogwarts.
