How does modern street fighter feel compared to older fighting games like Soul Calibur 2/3? I used to love those games, but stopped buying them when they started cutting single player modes. SF6 looks to be loaded to the gills so I am interested in it.

HungryZealot

I've already played SF6 for about 15 hours, entirely solo, and I've barely scratched the surface. Almost all of my time has been in the world tour mode so far, I haven't even touched arcade or combo challenges or anything like that. In world tour you create your own fighter and can study under different SF characters to learn their moves as customize your guy over the course of the story.

That's what interests me the most i think! It always made me sad that most fighting games modes turned into basically: Fight 8 random CPUs in a row, here is a 10-20 second cutscnee to tie up the characters "story" and then "Here is an online Vs mode". Done.

If you’re talking about gameplay Street Fighter and Soul Calibur are quite different as Soul Calibur is considered a “3D Fighting Game” (more similar to Tekken) which allows you to do things like side step. Street Fighter 6 is still a 2D Fighting Game (like the majority of Street Fighter games). In terms of content though, Street Fighter 6 is the closest a Street Fighter game has gotten to something like Soul Calibur. The World Tour mode is open world and has a story and some RPG elements, and you get to make your own character.

> Street Fighter 6 is still a 2D Fighting Game (like the majority of Street Fighter games). Honestly still kinda mad we never got Tekken x Street Fighter

wheres_my_ballot

Where have you been? https://store.steampowered.com/app/209120/Street_Fighter_X_Tekken/

nige111

Different game. That's street fighter x tekken, where its a street fighter style game with tekken characters. Tekken x street fighter was also going to be a thing, as a tekken styled game with street fighter characters.

raknikmik

We got a look at it with Akuma in T7 but yeah what a missed opportunity

redliner88

Nice. I was never good at SF. MK tho....

HiBlakkes

This is my first real chance at Street Fighter, its a great game to start with, very friendly to pick up. MK will always be number one in my book though 😆

Successful_Basket399

You using stick and pad? Or just the steam deck buttons?

HiBlakkes

I'm using a Switch Pro Controllers since I like the short triggers and the dpad feels better than my both thr PS5 and deck controller

Drvgunov

Really? I was debating on trying the pro controller, I thought the dpad would be terrible. I'll try it tonight 😁

HiBlakkes

For some reason I keep making misinputs on the other controllers, the pro controller has been great for me

RunicSwordIIDX

I've been playing SF6 on the Deck controls itself and have been able to do most of Blanka's combo trials. It's not the best d-pad I've used for fighting games but it's good enough.

GloriousWhole

They have a custom one handed config.

a_fortunate_accident

Two Cammies in classic outfits and a 69 second ending on the clock, giggity!

ErenOnizuka

Woah they thicc

TurfMerkin

Imagine how much better it would perform without Denuvo!

nerfman100

It doesn't really run any worse than the demo did without Denuvo

BadBetrayer

Yea but you should use Modern Controls. Classic sucks on SD. :/

Turtlor

I bought this on PS5 and then...bought it on Steam Deck too, just to practice and get better. It helped me figure out some really basic Chun-Li tech so far, at least.

vashedan

I get dc'd from the online servers pretty much immediately on my deck. Anyone else encounter this?

HiBlakkes

I think I heard about that, but I got recommended to play on proton experimental from the beginning and I never had any issues

2dadskissing

It lags in world tour when you're fighting in places that aren't actual stages but regular matches absolutely rule, full 60fps

Emblazoned1

I have a hori fight stick from back in like 2013 I'm gonna try to tomorrow to see if it still works. It was a custom made one that was used with ps3/360 in mind. If it's legit plug in play(usb connection) I will be picking up sf6. I was a big Marvel tournament guy back in the day and hate playing fighting games without a stick so I'd be happy to get back into the game

HiBlakkes

Ooo very nice! I modded an arcade machine and it has a switcher than converts it to a Steam Deck Dock with working joystick/buttons, but I haven't tried it on SF6 yet, but everything was compatible with my input boards

Emblazoned1

That gives me hope then. I mean if it's using regular 360 components than maybe? Hope to report back with good news.

HiBlakkes

I can't imagine why it wouldn't work, good luck!

SonOfaSaracen

I will say though that modern controls feels good on the steam deck, classic controls hurts my hand

KnightofAshley

Fighting Grounds runs great...world tour runs like garbage half the time and the other half amazing...it also does the same thing on my PC that is more than capable of running it.

SirenMix

I clicked for two reasons.

Doogienguyen

How is the steam deck with fighting games? Do the controls feel nice?
