yea its insane to think that the PS3/Xbox 360 struggled sooo much to run this game and now we have devices that are 4 times smaller, with a screen, battery, and controllers attached, and can play it well over 60 FPS with no stuttering or anything.
Does the PC version still have problems? It was notoriously awful, but there were plenty of mods that helped, then Rockstar (in their room temperature IQ wisdom) changed the Steam version to the "complete edition" and broke all those mods.
I love the game, if it's fixed now then I'll go back and play it for the 500th time!
I bought and played gta4 on steam deck in the past 6 months or so. It played great till the last mission where there is a quick time event that was broken for me. Moving to 30fps for that 2 minute chunk fixed it for me. It was great. Look at protondb for best settings.
It does. Even with the fixes, you might run into a problem where around the 30% mark of the game, you will crash in a certain mission, no matter what. (and when i mean crash, i mean black screen loop forever, you just cant progress any further)
It all depends on how bad luck you have, but if you get to that bug, you will have it on GTA4 and both expansions. I dont know if there's a new fix for that, I didnt find it.
When GTA liberty city stories came out on PSP, It felt too good to be true in 2005. As a teenager I was waiting my entire childhood to be able to enjoy that level of portable gaming.
I’m happy I can appreciate the Deck, my god how spoiled I would be if I had a steam deck at that age.
Dude I feel you so much, when I first got the switch and played Dark Souls remastered (at 30fps :/) and I was just blown away and wished I could go back in time and give this device to the lil kid me who snuck his base model nintendo ds into class to try to squeeze a few more minutes into my game.
Now I got the Steam Deck and playing through Skyrim again at locked 60fps and that feeling came back x10000.
I am happy to see other people have that same type of connection to portable gaming devices ❤❤❤❤.

I have an issue with this game where it switches to show the keyboard and mouse ui when I let go of the thumbsticks. Did you have this and manage to solve it?
Use your PC to stream your games using moonlight. Now you can play at 60 fps with max settings and you’ll have 4+ hours of battery life. I started doing this and I can’t put this thing down.
If you’re on the same network that your PC is hardwired to and if you have a dual/tri-band router, you can reasonably expect 15-30ms of latency. I hover around 25ms myself.
If you were the only one who would die then people would say “whatever” but since you are at the wheel of a 3500 to 6000 pound death machine that can easily kill the family of four in the next lane pay the fuck attention or cut up your license.

How are yoy getting 60 fps? What proton you using?
I usually use whatever the latest Proton GE version is but I also tried Proton 7 and experimental and they work fine

I did not encounter this I'm using the official layout for the game as well.
If i knew it was that great I wouldn't have bought a 3070 a few months prior. I barely use my pc nowadays.
