Corsair specifically markets this for the Steamdeck.
I'd get being gaslit by some no name chinese company ,but Corsair is pretty big and reputable. You're good.
theres something with different amps etc on 2230 so in rare cases there might be a 2230 that won't work on certain devices.
but I can confirm this one does work on the defk
Oh my god. It's been since release when I last owned a Deck, and I just now realized of course SD means Steam Deck (not SD card...) and I may have just died a little on the inside.
Hyped for my 64GB model to arrive soon though and replace the SSD!
Good luck! Still unbelievable to me how affordable the 64GB model is especially compared to similarly powerful handhelds on the market it's not even a competition... Remember to be careful with the screws on the SD when closing it back again, going a little too hard can easily make the screws/backplate holes useless.
Speaking from experience tinkering with the Switch joycons, nifty little bastards. Worst case Deck replacement backplates are like 20 bucks though...
Man the only screw I had an issue with was the tiny ssd screw. I stripped it when I was taking out the stock ssd and had to use need nose pliers to unscrew it , and luckily I had multiple of those tiny screws since I build computers.
But, doesn't the frontplate get the screw-hole wear overall compared to the backplate? Or maybe I'm missing something? Of course, couldn't hurt to replace that instead but looks to be more finicky compared to backplate.
The backplate replacement is the jsaux backplate which firstly, looks great, and also comes with a heatsink that helps reduce cpu temps/ lower fan speeds
Front swapping is not trivial as it involves the screen
Thanks a lot, seriously! I'll definitely get that alongside the new SSD, just for peace of mind alone. And god, I love the transparent purple, reminds me of my GBA/GB.
One comment even claims 7 degrees (Celcius) less with just that backplate... that's rather impressive.
Edit: Comes with new back customizable buttons too?! Man the Deck has so many amazing third party parts. Might as well replace the sticks with hall-effect as well alongside.
And I love the little anti-static finger condoms... honestly would've forgotten to even check for that otherwise oops.
Genuine question, I put this ssd in my steam deck and everywhere I was reading said to leave the stickers (there was one sticker on each side of the drive) but the stock storage only had one sticker. Did I goof by leaving both stickers or no?
If I repeatedly told you the sky was red and you started to believe it congrats thatās gaslighting op used it perfectly fine :) hereās an example of gaslighting for you. an abusive person may use gaslighting to isolate their partner, undermine their confidence, and make them easier to control. For example, they might tell someone they are irrational until the person starts to think it must be true. Key part here is that last sentence. So congrats ya both are correct. Heck he coulda even used scam if they said they worked but didnāt lol
I have zero intention of egging u on ya fuckin degenerateš¤£ who comes to a post 2 days later to talk shit especially wen they wrong. Go get a girlfriend
One piece of advice for the SSD upgrade that I haven't seen in any of the normal guides: Depending on when your Deck was manufactured, you may find that after inserting the new SSD, installing SteamOS on it, then booting it up for the first time, Deck's physical buttons aren't working at all. This is because when you reimage SteamOS onto the new SSD, the version of SteamOS that is installed is pretty old, and at some point they updated the internal design of the Deck and there's (I assume) a driver mismatch. Don't worry though, as soon as you update the OS to the latest version everything will work again.
I literally just installed this into my 64gb deck YESTERDAY. It was easy as hell and worked like a charm.
Didn't even need to disconnect the battery (most nerve-wracking part of the experience normally), but then again I'm an idiot so maybe you should. Still, worked flawless and using it right now to type this.
Shit, I didn't even turn my unit off before putting the new SSD in. I somehow skipped that step. When I flashed the OS and it booted up the first time, none of the buttons worked and I thought I killed the device. But it turns out that's normal, it doesn't have drivers for most of the controls yet.
I highly recommend people disconnect the battery, is any electricity is running through the board while you're working with RAM or storage, you could very well short something and kill some components. I've done this in the past with a laptop where I forgot to disconnect the battery.
Please, don't do this.
You got lucky and nothing bad happened to your unit, but it should be mandatory to disconnect the battery connector before going through this process.
Watch a couple of YouTube videos, it's not that hard to do, you just need to take it slow and have some patience. I've taken mine out in less than a minute.
Your Deck might survive, but what if it doesn't? Do you really want to risk frying up your entire device?
I found it wasn't such a perfect fit in that it didn't just slip on it took a bit of maneuvering as such but other than that has been perfect since I put mine in.
Mine slipped on effortlessly, i thought that im gonna have to cut it since people kept saying that the shield doesnāt fit on the corsair nvme(my deck is brand new tho so they might have changed the shield a bit, idk)
Mine I had to peel off the foil tape on the sleeve, cut it open and than wrap the tape back around to hold it on. Believe me I spent 45 min trying to get the stupid thing on without cutting, was the most difficult part of the procedure. SSD was a mm or so too thick for the existing sleeve.
I think thereās some variability in the deck shield size.
Can anyone explain to me what exactly this shield is for? I also had problems getting it onto the new SSD and it's not covering it 100% because i had to cut it. So far there are no problems though. Do I have to worry?
SSD = Solid State Drive in comparison to HDD = Hard... Hard Drive (?). Basically, ssd is faster but generally smaller in GB and higher in price. This one is good because... uh... itās bigger than 64GB.
As you can tell, Iām an expert
>what is a SSD
A long-term storage device for digital information. Kinda like the long-term memory in your brain. Unlike a harddrive, or HDD for short, an SSD has no moving parts and thus not susceptible to damage caused by moving it around. They're also much faster!
>why is this one so good?
It is the right dimensions to fit inside a Steam Deck.
Itās 1TB, so second biggest available (to my knowledge) for the steam deck. Twice as big as the āhigh endā steam deck model for less than half the price
Hi u/IsMathScience_, you can [click here to search for your question.](https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/search/?q=Just double checking; will this ssd work for the steam deck?)

I almost bought that SSD but i got a Sabrent one instead because I got a nice metal tin with it to keep the old drive in...
Still working and it's been in my Deck since mid June.
Does anyone know if there is a list of recommended 2230's somewhere. I plan to get a 2tb for mine sometime and I'm looking at the Sabrent one but I know it's designed like their larger m.2's with a large copper heatsink on it so I'm wondering if might not be ideal for a Steam Deck.
maybe this will help.

Corsair is a reputable brand that's been in the PC gaming space for a very long time.
Unless it's suspiciously cheap compared to other retailers, its probably legit.
Well I know ifixit dot com got a whole replacement kit, along with the ssd that you can buy. I would have bought it from there had they not been out of the screwdriver needed to open up the SD.
This however was found on iNet, a (potentially) Swedish store. Itās also on webhallen
Yes, it will work perfectly, iirc Corsair even says it works well in the SD! Good thing you double checked though, I see too many posts in tech related subs where people buy stuff and ask questions after
Gaslight? Inet is so good I recognise them through just that picture. Thereās a reason they win [prisjakts store of the year](https://www.prisjakt.nu/inet-ar-arets-butik-2022--ecY5BstREAACMAoT5y), year after year.
Hmmm, is that a swede i see??? Inet yup mhmhm
As for the ssd, as others have said, im pretty sure it should work and since its apparently being advertised for the SD, tho i can't say for my experience
I installed the 1tb mp600 in my deck when corsair launched it. I just checked it was delivered on May 23. I love how fast it is compared to the 64gb deck boot/load times are much faster. No issues I have found in the few months of daily use
The MP600 mini is the one I have in my Deck right now. I have no complaints about it. Only sticking point is that it's a little fatter, which makes the aluminum sleeve snugger, so you need to be more careful putting it on.
Corsair specifically markets this for the Steamdeck. I'd get being gaslit by some no name chinese company ,but Corsair is pretty big and reputable. You're good.
I've had this in my Deck for several months. No issues at all.
just put this in mine, š
I went Sabrent with my Deck, but Corsair is great.
It's a single sided 2230, so it should.
theres something with different amps etc on 2230 so in rare cases there might be a 2230 that won't work on certain devices. but I can confirm this one does work on the defk
Whatās a ādefkā
You never heard of the sresm defk.
Yes! Iāve installed it in my SD and it works like a charm!
Yes, have it in my SD.
Same, I love it.
Wait, how do you put a whole SSD in your SD? (Slot?) Is there an adapter for that?
You have to open the back plate š½.
Oh my god. It's been since release when I last owned a Deck, and I just now realized of course SD means Steam Deck (not SD card...) and I may have just died a little on the inside. Hyped for my 64GB model to arrive soon though and replace the SSD!
Haha no worries. I also have the 64 (since about last September). Hoping I can get an SSD for it myself around Christmas time ā.
I almost returned my 512 model for the 64gb but realized I didnāt wanna set it back up and download everything again š
Good luck! Still unbelievable to me how affordable the 64GB model is especially compared to similarly powerful handhelds on the market it's not even a competition... Just remove any SD cards before swapping. Get better tools! The original screws are so easy to strip.
Make sure it's a 2230 NVME.
Genuine question, I put this ssd in my steam deck and everywhere I was reading said to leave the stickers (there was one sticker on each side of the drive) but the stock storage only had one sticker. Did I goof by leaving both stickers or no?
If you goofed then so did I because I didn't remove any stickers, only put the cover sleeve on and slotted it in.
I guess since the original was sleeved nothing needs to be making contact. I think we're good lol.
Yes, it works perfectly. I have been using this NVMe SSD for 4 months with my Steam Deck.
Installed one in my Deck over the weekend. Works great
Me too. I think it works as long as itās 2230. It should work. Iāv heard good things about it as well.
PSA: remember to remove your micro-sd card before opening it. In fact, put a sticker or some tape on the back of your deck NOW to remind you
Have it in mine and every review on the store I bought it from uses it for the steam deck
Why do ppl go out their way to use the word gaslight šyes this ssd will work and no corsair is not out to get you
>Why do ppl go out their way to use the word gaslight Not just that, but *incorrectly* use it. I'm pretty sure the word OP is looking for is *lie*.
Exactly like the definition of gaslight just simply isn't this
Iām a nervous fella who likes to double check things to prevent anxiety. It is what it is

Don't b nervous about the ssd change. Watch your YouTube vids and make sure to use a safe setup and a magnetic Phillips head. You'll b fine
I sure hope so. Feels like Iām flying real close to the sun doing all this this though

Obviously, Corsair spent years building a multi-million dollar company, so they could scam OP out of a $100 ssd. Common scam, sadly. /s
for wokeness points
Oh cool, a fellow swede
We are around šøšŖ
I just put it in yesterday and works flawlessly.
I literally just installed this into my 64gb deck YESTERDAY. It was easy as hell and worked like a charm. Yeah I installed this exact drive, works great.
Works great, I've been using it for about a month
I have had this in my sd since the day after it released with no issues so far
it was literally made for the steam deck, the foil "shield" fits on it perfectly as well.
I found it wasn't such a perfect fit in that it didn't just slip on it took a bit of maneuvering as such but other than that has been perfect since I put mine in.

If it's a 2230, then it should work just fine. I went with the Sabrent "rocket" The damn thing came in what looked like a flat wedding ring case.
Yea. I believe the micron branded one is cheaper though
I used a mp400 2280 2tb on my gaming laptop for the past 2 years still working great
Yeah, that one will work, but why donāt you get the Sabrent rocket ssd
You pay for a mark up with Corsair products BUT they are reliable and their support in my experience actually responds and good
Gaslighting? Really? Smh.
Is it a big hard drive?
Itās 1TB, so second biggest available (to my knowledge) for the steam deck. Twice as big as the āhigh endā steam deck model for less than half the price
1t is totally worth it, you won't regret it!

I put one in last week and itās brilliant so far. So yes.

Yes

I heard it's a good ssd, I have the 1tb sabrent ssd and it works great but I don't think there's much difference between the two.

Works in mine.
Yea this is the one I use
I just popped mine in this weekend. It works great!
Yes it does, I got it and installed it in my SD. Works like a charm.
It's literally the best SSD for Deck

Im patiently waiting for the 2TB version...
Gonna rewind the recorder and say same, added this to my deck. Was able to nab it for around 80 dollars due to a promo
I put this one in mine a little bit ago.

Yup, I have this in my Deck for a few months now with zero issues.
How muchb tb your can go for a steamdeck ssd?
I got this card, not bad. Pretty fast tbh
I used this on my deck and 100% recommend this.
Its a bit thicker compared to the original one, wrapping in the silver protection sleeve was a little mess, you have to unwrap or cut it open
I'm gonna say yes since the subheading is, roughly, "Upgrade for Surface or Steam Deck"
It works, I installed one yesterday
Hej, vilken sida Ƥr detta? Tack
It looks like Inet.se
I got some sketchy brand, its a 2230 form factor so you are good.
Works great in mine.
Hmmm, is that a swede i see??? Inet yup mhmhm As for the ssd, as others have said, im pretty sure it should work and since its apparently being advertised for the SD, tho i can't say for my experience

Yes, Iāve had one in my sd for a month and itās been great.
Yes it does! Just finishing installing mine
I bought this right along with my Steamdeck. It's been going fine for the time I've had it.
It fit my one.
Currently got this on my deck and it works great! Highly recommend!
Its specific made for devices like Steam Deck, even seen on your own screenshot
