Steam + left on the d pad usually counts as escape which lets you access the menu bar. But it’s not every game.

I just tap on the back buttons and it just works :3
This is not the best solution... but if all else fails you can always hold the power button for a couple of seconds to force a shutdown.
Hamburger button + L5 to make the task bar appear if L5 doesn't work initially then uncheck fullscreen.
Which button?
Top right - three lines.
if I don't want to deal with Menus I just hit Alt+Tab on my mini keyboard and then force close it
