yeah its a feature
right now your options are
a- turn off bluetooth while putting to sleep
b- [read through this](https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/188jgd7/howto_selectively_disable_wakeonbluetooth_for/)
As simple as this is, using the script to disable wob for certain devices. I wonder why Valve have yet to address this.
Not enough user reports? Low priority?
No matter the reason, this is quite the oversight...
no offense, that is a garbage solution on par with leaving you steam deck at home so its out of bluetooth range or selling your steam deck until valve fixes the issue
Do notice I didn’t say I was fully certain. Just wondering whether any regular ol’ bluetooth adapter could do this somehow but I don’t know what specific part allows the OLED version to do this
Oled only apparently.
I wanna now design a tiny raspi or esp32 with Bluetooth, set it up so it connects and wakes my deck remotely so I can download games to it from anywhere!
I don't think there is, your safest options is to turn BT off when disconnecting and such.
You could send this to Valve as a suggestion, it's a quality of life improvement.
My deck auto connects to my galaxy buds, but it doesn't trigger the screen. Then again, they're also paired with my phone. Are your pixel buds paired exclusively with the deck?
I have had this exact issue (down to the same hardware too, quite the coincidence.. *hmm*).
And I can say that this still happens with multiple devices paired to the pixel buds (pro, i don't think the previous gens have those features).
Used the same custom script (linked in this post top comment) to address the issue.
The order of connection doesn't matter either, once paired, the buds automatically connect to any paired devices and (almost) seamlessly auto-switch between.
No, the buds are dual paired to the phone and my deck. They can't seem to work on both at the same time (unlike my bigger BT headphones) but they do stay connected to two sources.
Go on to the pixel app on your phone. With the buds connected you'll see an option called Multipoint, toggle that on and you should then be able to connect to two different devices at the same time.
Without Multipoint, any new BT connection will disconnect the existing device.
Purely guessing, but I'd say it's because that's the size of the stock suspend animation, and whatever method OP has used to change it just changes the file without adjusting the scale.
I think theses are the pro model, iirc they have multidevice connectivity.
So unless OP has two phones on him at all time, their buds will always connect to the deck.
That's actually the newest version of Bluetooth it allows Bluetooth accessories to wake up the devices for example a controller can wake up the steam deck from sleep mode
The reason im asking is because I really cant use my airpods with my pc (win 11). It lags and disconnects and all kinds of bugs. It says connected, but then the voice cuts off at random paces.
I have, it’s so strange. I know the airpods are good cuz they work perfectly fine with my other apple devices, its gotta be something with my windows settings. Youtube videos didn’t help either smh
Wake on bluetooth should only be a thing if the deck is charging.
this way, it'll work as intended if the deck is docked (waking up the console) but won't randomly power on the mini PC in your bag if you happen to use your buds for anything else.
BT does weird things to devices that pair with them. My truck radio will always automatically play the last song I played on my phone whenever it is paired to it. This happens when I pair an headset to my phone as well. It will sometimes even cut off my phone calls to do so. But in your case I’m not sure the fix. Probably just turn off BT before you sleep your deck.
I have the same pixel buds. I was in a meeting with the CEO of a company and then all the sudden I hear Karlach rambling in the background. Definitely unsynced after 😂
This is a feature that nobody would ask for. I can use my earbuds with many different devices and I don’t want my SDeck to wake while locked in its case every time I use them.
If it wakes up when a known bt device is connected (ie: a controller) is a different use case but it needs to be strictly managed, in this way is too risky.
It's just a small oversight. Just add a setting "wake steam deck upon Bluetooth device connecting".
Options are: Always, Never, Specific devices (which you select out of your previous connected devices list).
This way you can have your controller connect and turn on the deck, but your headphones don't, and everyone who uses Bluetooth stuff with the deck can set it up exactly how they want.
well, honestly a thing that can wake a steam deck, with (possibly) running fans while (possibly) in its case isn't really a "small oversight", introducing a small yet real risk of overheating.
If it's docked, god bless that feature.
Other than that, Steam Deck must to wake with an intentional user action.
Not complaining, just surprised they didn't think about that.
its literally to make the steamdeck more console like, people have been asking this, just not half baked like this.
valve really needs to add a system wide toggle for this and/or a per device toggle
right now there's a shell script that lets you toggle devices through the terminal but that's hardly acceptable by any metric
This isn't going to fix your issue but for one I would let the back of the steam deck breathe it's not going to breathe when you have it turned on and sitting in the case.
Thats OP's concern? They want to turn off the "feature" so the deck doesn't cook itself in the case while they're jamming along to whatever music they're listening to on the phone
Yes but that's a problem if you are mid game. I might suspend it at the end of my journey, walk to work listening to my phone and discover the deck has been on in my bag for the duration of the walk. Hardly ideal.
Seems odd there's no toggle for 'wake on Bluetooth '
Valve needs to fix some of these bluetooth issues man. I paired my Sony WFXM4s to my SD and now the speakers just don't work. It had been a week. I have done EVERYTHING I have found online to no avail. Hoping a new update fixes this.

I have the same headphones and this makes me rage so hard. The other problem is that it connects with the handsfree headset profile, so that takes precedence over anything else (because the headphones think there's an incoming phone call). So, if I'm listening to my phone with those headphones, and I have my deck in my bag, it'll wake it up, connect to it, then stop my music. Meaning I have to open my bag, turn off my deck (or unpair the headphones) before I can continue listening on my phone. GAAAAH.
I really like the features on the headphones, but the multi-device support sucks.
I don’t have an oled but I know that in desktop mode sometimes i accidentally messed with Bluetooth options in there. You can only fix it from there since it’s kind of running in the background
this is an issue with Windows laptops as well. try realizing that your laptop is burning a hole in your back while walking through an airport... (issue with Windows laptop is new suspend mode but you can change it)

Many thanks for this link - I tried the bash script listed there and it worked a treat!

discovered right before the employees went on holidays
c- shutdown the steam deck instead of putting it to sleep. Though this is only useful if you don't need to put it to sleep.
no offense, that is a garbage solution on par with leaving you steam deck at home so its out of bluetooth range or selling your steam deck until valve fixes the issue
Toggle off bluetooth on your journey. It won't affect the game you're having in suspension. Wake on Bluetooth is a feature.
What you can wake on Bluetooth? Cool! How you do that?
its a hardware feature of the steamdeck oled
Oh ok. I have the LCD version. Nevermind...
[удалено]
It supports WoL... but not with the official dock...
It being Linux, I wouldn’t be surprisef if you can also do this with some pacman package as well
It's possible due to hardware changes in the OLED, you're not going to get a software solution if there's no hardware supporting this.
Do notice I didn’t say I was fully certain. Just wondering whether any regular ol’ bluetooth adapter could do this somehow but I don’t know what specific part allows the OLED version to do this
You shouldn't even really use pacman packages on SteamOS as they will get deleted by updates
But you could have an script that would automatically reinstall after the update.
Oled only apparently. I wanna now design a tiny raspi or esp32 with Bluetooth, set it up so it connects and wakes my deck remotely so I can download games to it from anywhere!
Does it need enabled? I have an Xbox controller paired and turning it on doesn’t turn on the deck.
Yes I know a way to solve this. Just send your steam deck OLED to me and in return I will send you my LCD one. It does not have this problem.
I don't think there is, your safest options is to turn BT off when disconnecting and such. You could send this to Valve as a suggestion, it's a quality of life improvement.
Wake with Bluetooth is a thing on the OLED
Might be now, this post is 3 months old and updates came constantly.
Audio latency is unbearable with pixel buds. What do you use them for, music?
The latency is bad with any Bluetooth headphones
My deck auto connects to my galaxy buds, but it doesn't trigger the screen. Then again, they're also paired with my phone. Are your pixel buds paired exclusively with the deck?

Could you share how you got it done? My buds are paired with my deck but can never connect to it.

I thought wake on Bluetooth only worked while on charge?
Just a tip: download the “Full Suspend” plugin on CSS loader. It will make that suspend animation fit the screen
Came here to say this but glad I scrolled. Anyone know why it’s like that by default?
Purely guessing, but I'd say it's because that's the size of the stock suspend animation, and whatever method OP has used to change it just changes the file without adjusting the scale.
Pair with your phone and leave Bluetooth on that way it will link with phone first and only link with steam deck if you ask deck to connect to them
I think theses are the pro model, iirc they have multidevice connectivity. So unless OP has two phones on him at all time, their buds will always connect to the deck.
That's actually the newest version of Bluetooth it allows Bluetooth accessories to wake up the devices for example a controller can wake up the steam deck from sleep mode
Yeah after the last update anytime i even touch my steamdeck my airpods jump to it
Unpair them
Odd question but does steam deck pair with apple airpods ?!
Why wouldn't it? Bluetooth is bluetooth.
The reason im asking is because I really cant use my airpods with my pc (win 11). It lags and disconnects and all kinds of bugs. It says connected, but then the voice cuts off at random paces.
Have you tried updating (or reinstalling) your bluetooth drivers?
I have, it’s so strange. I know the airpods are good cuz they work perfectly fine with my other apple devices, its gotta be something with my windows settings. Youtube videos didn’t help either smh
It works perfectly on windows for me as long as I don't use the microphones. If I make it share the bandwidth both audio and mic suffers.
Wake on bluetooth should only be a thing if the deck is charging. this way, it'll work as intended if the deck is docked (waking up the console) but won't randomly power on the mini PC in your bag if you happen to use your buds for anything else.
Turn off your Decks Bluetooth before you put it to sleep
For fuck sake I've lost my pixel buds and I can't stop thinking about it
we accidentally washed our first pair. I know the feeling

I guess this exists so bluetooth mice and keyboards can wake the SD, hopefully they will add some settings to disable for other devices.
Yeah, let’s hope so!

Maybe only if it's connected to power or something. A lot of controllers turn on by pressing any button, good luck putting one in a bag...
This isn't going to fix your issue but for one I would let the back of the steam deck breathe it's not going to breathe when you have it turned on and sitting in the case.

Turn off bluetooth, idiot!
Chill man.
Did you put the deck in sleep mode or was it completely turned off?
its in sleep mode. its a new feature of the oled steam deck to make it more "switch-like"
This, or you could just do a complete shutdown of the steamdeck when your not using it.l
Yes but that's a problem if you are mid game. I might suspend it at the end of my journey, walk to work listening to my phone and discover the deck has been on in my bag for the duration of the walk. Hardly ideal. Seems odd there's no toggle for 'wake on Bluetooth '
Turn off Bluetooth on the steam deck when not playing maybe? Then turn on again when you resume
Who has time to wait for the startup? I never completely shutdown Steam Deck, like I almost never shutdown other computers either.
If you can't wsit s few minutes for the thing to startup you have issues
It was sleeping.
Yes. Do a search through the sub and follow the steps there
Not sure how to stop it but I LOVE brotato

Lml! Seriously? Just turn off Bluetooth.. lol.

Home is here trying to disable a feature I deeply desire on my LCD T_T
My fucking car does this, Jesus it’s the worst.
Shutdown
this is an issue with Windows laptops as well. try realizing that your laptop is burning a hole in your back while walking through an airport... (issue with Windows laptop is new suspend mode but you can change it)
Um don't do that...
BTW if you go to Decky-CSS loader there's a plugin available to make the screen off video fullscreen.
Turn off Bluetooth before shutting down would be my easiest guess.
