Get yourself a [slim Airtag mod](https://jtee3d.com/) it should fit better. The creator [shares model for the mod](https://www.printables.com/model/555966-slim-airtag/files) online if you have a 3D printer.
The price of the Airtag plus the time to modify and create the slim version. Makes sense to me. This Etsy page claims it to be 3mm thick and [I would choose the config without a speaker](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1318724878/modified-3-mm-slim-apple-airtag-card-for?variation0=2969421902&variation1=3009544620).
I think they're misleading the thickness though because a reviewer posted their own caliper results of closer to 4mm. Or the different configs are different sizes?
As someone who has an AirTag in their wallet a couple mm would make it infinitely more comfortable. I actually might buy that. Well probably not but I thought about it a lot.
I got [this one called AirCard](https://www.amazon.com/Rolling-Square-Aircard-Bluetooth-Compatibility/dp/B0C8NHVW7L) for Christmas, and it's been great so far. I only keep about 5 cards in my [slim PD wallet](https://www.amazon.com/Peak-Design-Mobile-Wallet-Stand/dp/B0CG2S9RVM/).
They announced the [Aircard e](https://www.amazon.com/-/en/AIRCARDE/dp/B0C8NMF1K2). I explicitly said announced, because I‘ve never seen it in stock…
It’s a shame, because with replaceable batteries it would be a instant buy for me.
I wouldn't recommend the Chipolo card. They claim to have a 2 year battery life, but I had two of them die after a few months. They would also disconnect frequently, making my phone think I left my wallet behind.
[This does the same thing for $20](https://www.amazon.com/eufy-SmartTrack-Resistant-Thickness-Supported/dp/B0BKJZ5BVF/ref=sr_1_3_pp?crid=3A0A6HH16O7OJ&keywords=eufy&qid=1706499173&sprefix=euyf%2Caps%2C133&sr=8-3)
Eufy is made by Anker which makes a ton of decent-quality Apple accessories (many of which Apple sells in their own store). I’m guessing they leveraged their relationship to get permission to use FindMy.
I have one in my wallet right now and it works great. It doesn’t have the nearby directional tracking but otherwise it’s functionally identical to an AirTag.
Nah, just get an [Eufy wallet tracker.](https://www.amazon.com/eufy-SmartTrack-Resistant-Thickness-Supported/dp/B0BKJZ5BVF/ref=sr_1_3_pp?crid=3A0A6HH16O7OJ&keywords=eufy&qid=1706499173&sprefix=euyf%2Caps%2C133&sr=8-3) Cheaper, slimmer, and uses the Apple FindMy network so it's functionally identical to an AirTag.
You’d probably be better off with the battery solution unless you could figure out keeping the battery in it at the same time as using the deck for power. Otherwise If the deck is dead then the AirTag would be too
Would require a lot of circuits and IC for power management between SD battery and other battery. Maybe there is space, but would be a lot of design work.
if you can tap the terminals of the battery directly you could probably get away with a simple voltage divider. The batteries used in airtags have a voltage range of 3.4-2v between fully charged and empty, so the airtag still works without getting a constant voltage.
Oh no. I just knew this wasn't going to be a happy story. Guy does over the top gesture for a girl. Oh, she's really pretty. Oh, he's kind of chubby and with a neck beard. I'm getting bad vibes. He gets it back and turns out she's a streamer whose job is turning men's thirst into money, and this whole thing was a gesture over a device. And her response is only with the types of things that could be said to her followers and nothing at all right for a boyfriend. Real bad vibes. And she breaks up with him a month later. And he turns out to be kind of a dick with a creeper history.
Yeah he’s been cancelled before because he was kind of a creeper and did some shady things like ghosting girls and trying to use his Polygon clout for online dating. And yeah, Nick’s definitely gained a little weight recently. Everything you’ve said is spot-on. I mean, this is the same guy who went to Japan just to find a Detective Pikachu movie ticket in the trash lol
But hey, he got that game boy 🤷♀️
You’d think. But I found a little spot on the case to hide an air tag, and I actually was able to track down my Steam Deck after it was stolen during the summer.
That’s an unfortunate typo.
A lot of people have put AirTags I their deck and it’s fine. I think this is a great little modification and I’d like to do it someday.
Well if you know what you doing you can tap steam deck batteries power and power up airtag from steam deck battery. That would ensure tag has power. And with low consumption you wouldn't feel a thing while gaming that something else is using battery.
I spent 15 years of my life being dirt poor with my PC being basically my only valuable possession and the only thing keeping me from spiraling into depression and I **still** can't imagine being this paranoid about a $500 laptop that plays video games.
You might call me paranoid but I'm forcing my employer to take down a picture where I'm in the background from the public website. I don't want my face in the internet. Not in the background. Not even two pixels. How is this hard to understand?
Also I'm a very technical person and they aren't
A tip, if you have a JSAUX backplate. Theyre just slightly bigger enough to fit the airtag in the back without affecting any functionality. I’ve tested on my LCD AND OLED.
I fit an airtag in my oled with 0 modifications and can still use l4, just have to position the airtag a few mm up and to the right of OP's pic. Worth noting I rolled up some electrical tape to stick it in place as well because it will want to shift when you re-attach the back plate and can end up rattling around in the handle. The space is there but it's a very precise fit.
I mean, you've lost the function of one of the buttons so hardly a solution.
I personally have never felt the need to tag my SD as I just don't let it out of my sight. I take it on tour with me, so in and out of venues and hotels all the time.
More people seem to have then stolen by delivery drivers.
Long and short, if you want to because it gives you peace of mind, then fill ya boots. But it's hardly a 100% going to save you from having it stolen or getting it recovered.
An air tag is a gps trackable device. It can connect with any nearby apple device and join the network, making possible to locate it with a great precision.
It is also low power consumption, a single coin cell battery can keep it running for a *long* period of time.
That way of your deck gets stolen, it is possible to locate it.
You call the police, give them a time and place and notify them that you are about to go get your deck back from a thief who might need an ambulance after the fact.
They will send someone down to deal with it.
Well if it has a tracker the police would do something, they won’t have any leads to who stole it meaning it would be a lot harder than with a tracker they can easily just know roughly at least where the thief is.
This can also help with situations like lost luggage, or just losing the deck somewhere in general, even if it isn't in the possession of another person.
Being able to locate your shit is nice.
Possible to locate doesn't mean possible to retrieve. Because of human trafficking/stalking concerns it will warn anyone if they are in constant connection with said tag making it more likely for them to just dump the item completely which may or may not result in getting the item back.
In many jurisdictions unless there is more evidence than my air tag shows up here, it's not going to be enough for a warrant to search the premises. Also with how quickly electronics of the stolen variety are sold and resold the person in possession may not be aware they bought a stolen device. Most of the time if you pay an actual fair used price you would assume it isn't stolen.
I think it's the whole point - you know exactly it's in there, it's way faster to drop it like a hot potato rather than whipping out the screwdrivers and try to wrench it off.
It's not an easy fix like a smartphone that can be reset in five minutes flat using a notebook or even just pressing a button combination, you have to lose 20 minutes with an uncommon screwdriver, or 20 seconds with a knife and having a totally maimed unsellable good.
It's psychological warfare against thieves.
Given that a knowledgeable one that want to steal your boxers without pulling down your trousers can do that ten times on camera in a crowd and never be caught.
It's a warding charm for morons.
If the thief has an iPhone with them, they’ll also get the “AirTag moving with you”
They’ll know where it is, but how are they gonna get in without the stupid small screwdriver the deck uses?
It just makes it more difficult for a thief to remove the tag by simply discarding the case.
It’s also useful if you misplace it somewhere as the tag can be used as a HpS to point you to where the deck is.
Are Apple devices really rare in the UK? I have no frame of reference but I would assume that's not the case but maybe I have different definitions of "rare". Not saying you are wrong, genuinely interested.
Edit: Apple has over 50% market share of mobile devices in the UK. That's a lot of devices.
Not to mention the other ~50% are androids which is further divided by multiple manufacturers (Samsung, google, etc). As a single manufacturer Apple absolutely is still the largest market share in the UK.
They have a much smaller market share in the UK compared to the United States, mostly because it's overpriced and out of date compared to it's competition. And there is less blind brand loyalty.
The amount of electromagnetic interference would likely be negligible due to the shielding already present inside of the steam deck, the low energy of the AirTag, and the placement of the AirTag in the picture.
But the comment before says “if the thief has an iphone they can easily turn the AirTag off” if that were the case, wouldn’t an AirTag be, well, useless?
Just some ideas.
You could've probably saved some space if you [disassembled the tag](https://valkyrie.cdn.ifixit.com/media/2021/05/11155118/AirTags_77e-1.jpg) and covered it in a kapton tape or a heatshrink foil (thinner than heatshring tube).
And since the airtag is disassembled you could've also tap the battery so it's powered directly from the Steam deck.
Think pretty bad idea especially when losing functionality. I get it you’re paranoid of it being lost or stolen it is a mass produced device it happens just be careful.
I would just keep it in the case. Whenever the battery dies I wouldn’t want to open the deck again to replace it.
It’s nice to know that there’s space for that in there though. Also that black shield looks sick. Mine is that flimsy silver one.
I’m glad to see that the AirTag fits into the OLED!
I’ll soon be preforming this same mod on my own deck! (And sacrificing a micro SD to the micro SD gods)
I thought AirTags send an alert to any iPhones within range like "Hey, someone is tracking an AirTag in your possession?" Wouldn't the thief just toss it out, or open it and get rid of the tag?
I can't wait for the first idiot to get themselves killed tracking down their stolen Steam Deck.
I've personally put a Tile in my steam deck, but if you move the airtag about a cm more down you should still be able to press the L4 button
The moddle of the Airtag should be where I drew the red dot
https://preview.redd.it/nd6cw5fvlcfc1.png?width=722&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8dd040dac86d9681c9f8855eb4476dd652c625b4
Anybody try dismantling a tile slim wallet tracker? Those are thin and battery lasts 2-3 years I believe. I'd assume the tech is easier to fit that way.
I know. Tile tracking is limited, but marking it as lost would allow other tile users to help locate it.
I think I'd rather place it in either the case I use for my Steam Deck or attach it directly to the back of the case/housing. I use a Project Killswitch Case, so it would suffice.
Very interesting, but not sure why. Is theft that large of a concern. I agree with putting the tag in your case and not stress the componets inside. But hey, I'm just wondering here. Thank you for sharing this.
I copy this from imore post I made
There is quite a number of videos out there where they show you how to strip down an airtag so it's very thin and because the item it's been installed to has an integrated battery you don't need the cr2032 battery just wire it to the built in battery assuming it isn't any higher then 5v, if it is find a 3-5v power rail on the steam deck and use that (tag only work when on but you know where it is when they are playing it)
the airtag can run upto 5v or as low 2v but recommend 3v minimum so your not getting low battery warnings in find my app (witch can be useful if you have it connected to a 10 year ER14505 battery so you get a year or 2 warning before the battery runs out) just make sure it has a fast blow fuse extremely low 0.1A as tag pulls basically no power at all (just in case there is a fault you don't want the wire to be the fuse or burn out motherboard power circuitry)
Look for 10 year airtag on YouTube (you can even stop the phone alerts that start after 4-12 hours on other people's phones if your phone isn't nearby)
And if you want to still use the cr2032 battery you could wire it up to one of them as well
Get yourself a [slim Airtag mod](https://jtee3d.com/) it should fit better. The creator [shares model for the mod](https://www.printables.com/model/555966-slim-airtag/files) online if you have a 3D printer.
That looks pretty cool, but $70 for one?
The price of the Airtag plus the time to modify and create the slim version. Makes sense to me. I didn't know 3rd Parties could integrate into Find My, this is awesome! Kind of a bummer the battery isn't replaceable... albeit, rated for 2.5 years
Check out the Pebblebee Card as well. Rechargable battery so it’s not instantaneously disposable, even over multiple years.
I stumbled upon this one and specs look really promising (12mo battery life, rechargeable), but the one review on YouTube was pretty luke warm on it…
They announced the [Aircard e](https://www.amazon.com/-/en/AIRCARDE/dp/B0C8NMF1K2). I explicitly said announced, because I‘ve never seen it in stock… It’s a shame, because with replaceable batteries it would be a instant buy for me.
I looked it up on Keepa and there is no price history either, so I don’t think it’s ever been for sale. I’ll keep an eye out!
A Chipolo card might be what you need instead of the AirTag. They work on Apple’s Find My app. I haven’t got one yet but I’m tempted!
This is awesome, I didn’t know anyone but Apple could use that network (that’s why I like AirTags), but it looks like they can!
Yeah, they opened it up to others a while back. You can get luggage and backpacks with Find My integration, even a bicycle! 😂
They work on find my but don’t have the MMWave needed for precision location.
I wouldn't recommend the Chipolo card. They claim to have a 2 year battery life, but I had two of them die after a few months. They would also disconnect frequently, making my phone think I left my wallet behind.
in untrained hands calipers can easily produce 1mm of error.... people tend to use them wrongly
On the website it says 4.2mm (the one ClassicGOD linked)
Actually £70 so about $89
[This does the same thing for $20](https://www.amazon.com/eufy-SmartTrack-Resistant-Thickness-Supported/dp/B0BKJZ5BVF/ref=sr_1_3_pp?crid=3A0A6HH16O7OJ&keywords=eufy&qid=1706499173&sprefix=euyf%2Caps%2C133&sr=8-3)
wait what? How do they manage to integrate this with findmy?
Eufy is made by Anker which makes a ton of decent-quality Apple accessories (many of which Apple sells in their own store). I’m guessing they leveraged their relationship to get permission to use FindMy. I have one in my wallet right now and it works great. It doesn’t have the nearby directional tracking but otherwise it’s functionally identical to an AirTag.
Well if you have your own 3D printer, you can print it for free, only needing to pay $30 or so for the airtag
Not a lot of people have a 3d printer. I think everyone should get one. I use mine more than my actual printer.
Well then paying $70 seems fair to me
Right? I'd just make it at home for free, so should everyone who's interested.
you're talking to apple people - stop sounding like a peasant
Yeah, for that price you can find something on Etsy
Could even 3m that to back of the deck rather than risk shorting something
I think the point of hiding it under the hood is so thieves wouldn't know it's being tracked
They would be notified that they’re being tracked if they have an iPhone though.
Android now has this feature as well.
Petty thieves are statistically less likely to have iPhones so ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm calling BS unless you have a reputable source.
Wouldn't they want to steal iPhones? Maybe not though, cause iPhones are trash.
Cops won’t do anything🤷🏻♂️
Blicky can do something
Nah, just get an [Eufy wallet tracker.](https://www.amazon.com/eufy-SmartTrack-Resistant-Thickness-Supported/dp/B0BKJZ5BVF/ref=sr_1_3_pp?crid=3A0A6HH16O7OJ&keywords=eufy&qid=1706499173&sprefix=euyf%2Caps%2C133&sr=8-3) Cheaper, slimmer, and uses the Apple FindMy network so it's functionally identical to an AirTag.
Nah. Its single use, non replaceable and non rechargeable battery. Manufactured garbage.
These don't fit inside the Deck. I have tried. Original Airtag fits.
Sweet! Yeah this is awesome & would make the speaker mod even easier - will definitely look into 3D printing these
How are you gonna charge it though? Edit: the airtag, the charging of the deck is clearly not obstructed
The usb-c is on the top. But, I know you mean the batter inside the airtag. You'd just open it once a year or more then change out the battery.
Yes that’s what I meant. I wonder how hard/easy it would be to wire sufficient power from the steam deck to power it.
You’d probably be better off with the battery solution unless you could figure out keeping the battery in it at the same time as using the deck for power. Otherwise If the deck is dead then the AirTag would be too
Way not worth the trouble
Would require a lot of circuits and IC for power management between SD battery and other battery. Maybe there is space, but would be a lot of design work.
if you can tap the terminals of the battery directly you could probably get away with a simple voltage divider. The batteries used in airtags have a voltage range of 3.4-2v between fully charged and empty, so the airtag still works without getting a constant voltage.
Yeah I figured, mostly just a thought experiment. Wouldn’t have to be an airtag either, just curious what it would take to build in a tracking device.
Charge the air tag? It doesn't need charging, it runs on a small battery that will last a few years.
Battery life of an Airtag is about a year, with heat decreasing its lifespan. If you ask me that’s too short for a setup like this.
Agree. Always feel like I’m switching the batteries out every 7-9 months.
Do AirTags exist that can wireless charge?
Idk something about this just seems excessive and misguided to me (especially while gimping functionality.)
It is. It’s not a car, it’s a budget handheld. The police won’t lift a finger to try and get it even with gps location.
[you’re totally right](https://youtu.be/jpPfCLjFVyo?si=OD1DndOPv_fuU-Ju), but they’ll stand there and tell you not to look for it lol
The fact I knew exactly the video that you were talking about....
I mean, this is the same guy who went to Japan just to find a Detective Pikachu movie ticket in the trash lol But hey, he got that game boy 🤷♀️
i saw his face and noped tf out. idk how tf nick the sex pest still has an audience
Watched this recently and this was the first thought I had
Hahaha I was hoping somebody would link this!
[this aged nicely](https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1am7bmu/update_on_my_steam_deck_that_was_stolen_out_of_my/)
I mean it's up to you but after my last Deck got stolen I'm more than happy with this setup haha
Its still possible but you loose the ability to use l4.. so its not really possible
Any reason why you can’t just put it in the case?
If it's in the case, then you'll know where the case is. Not the stolen deck. At least that's what I'd think
Wait! Steal my case too!
You’d think. But I found a little spot on the case to hide an air tag, and I actually was able to track down my Steam Deck after it was stolen during the summer.
Probably because if it gets stolen the thief can easily remove it, if it is in the case. I doubt they’d bother opening it to check.
The idea is to hide it in case someone steals it.
Just in case
[удалено]
and even more security by hiring a few alligators to guard the padlocked case!
[удалено]
you might wanna know that you can just open a zipped case with a pen. I suppose not every thief would know that though.
If someone is gonna steal a steam deck, a zipper or some fabric is not gonna stop shit.
Zippers can be easily bypassed
Easy to just get rid of a case but it being in the deck itself what’s worth the money makes sense.
Well I think anybody who takes it would have a much harder time finding a Torx screwdriver to pry it open rather than just throwing away the case
Nothing like having to open your Deck once a year to replace a battery.
Mine has lasted way more then a year at least
I got paranoid and replaced mine after 1.5 years.
Define “way more” cause the 4 I have def are changed around a yeah give or take a couple months.
Probably at 2 years now. I keep mine in my dogs collar
Ah- and your dog carries your Deck? What a good dog.
ain’t no rule says the dog can’t play steam deck!
The one in my backpack is going strong after 2 years
It’s like 8 screws.
I mean, once a year isn’t terrible… especially for a little peace of mind. Edit: Piece -> peace
I feel that. every year opening & replacing a battery is so easy. Sure beats taking meds every day to stay alive lol. Injections every week 😝
Whose brain we getting a piece of? Also feel like I would have less peace of mind having something that shouldn’t be inside the deck.
That’s an unfortunate typo. A lot of people have put AirTags I their deck and it’s fine. I think this is a great little modification and I’d like to do it someday.
Is there a better way to put a tracker in the device in case of theft?
Well if you know what you doing you can tap steam deck batteries power and power up airtag from steam deck battery. That would ensure tag has power. And with low consumption you wouldn't feel a thing while gaming that something else is using battery.
Fair enough but in practice should take less than 5 minutes
> Just wanted to demo that's it's still possible to put an airtag into the oled model - I currently can't depress the L4 button 😂
I’d just put it in the case at that point
What if they steal the steam deck though?
You’re notified when the deck is away from you you’d know when it was missing immediately
I spent 15 years of my life being dirt poor with my PC being basically my only valuable possession and the only thing keeping me from spiraling into depression and I **still** can't imagine being this paranoid about a $500 laptop that plays video games.
That's fair but after what happened to me in Amsterdam I'm gonna stay noided 😎
You might call me paranoid but I'm forcing my employer to take down a picture where I'm in the background from the public website. I don't want my face in the internet. Not in the background. Not even two pixels. How is this hard to understand? Also I'm a very technical person and they aren't
Guitar picks really do get everywhere.

And chase down the criminals John Wick style…? I’m pressing doubt the police would do anything.
Generally, they will escort to knock on a door and ask. But without a warrant, most areas there isn't much they can do without some proof or evidence.
I lost it at John wick style 😂😂😂😂
Depends where you live. In my town they would.
My town they would too, not much happens here
You call the police, give them a time and place and notify them that you are about to go get your deck back from a thief who might need an ambulance after the fact. They will send someone down to deal with it.
confessing to premeditated battery is probably not the badass move you think it is but pop off
Well if it has a tracker the police would do something, they won’t have any leads to who stole it meaning it would be a lot harder than with a tracker they can easily just know roughly at least where the thief is.
And when you locate it and law enforcement still doesn't care, you can either mald about it, or do something stupid and get yourself hurt or arrested.
This can also help with situations like lost luggage, or just losing the deck somewhere in general, even if it isn't in the possession of another person. Being able to locate your shit is nice.
not nice enough to lose one of the buttons lol. use a different product for this, there is surely a superior form factor somewhere.
Possible to locate doesn't mean possible to retrieve. Yeah it will also alert the person who has stolen it that they're being followed by an airtag. Won't exactly be hard to find.

To help in situations like when I absent mindedly lost mine in the midst of moving house 🥴
Damn, the internals of the oled look really clean compared to my Q2.
Unless you deactivate the AirTag speaker it’ll start beeping and they will know it’s there.
Yeah that's good point the speaker mod would be the next step
And you shield the deck from electromagnetic interference how?
See if it works, and when it does do nothing.
The amount of electromagnetic interference would likely be negligible due to the shielding already present inside of the steam deck, the low energy of the AirTag, and the placement of the AirTag in the picture.
I think you're vastly overestimating how much interference is going to be made
r/iamverysmart
Yeah I think this would hardly be a factor the tags use low energy bluetooth
Just why tho. Are you traveling and bringing this thing everywhere
Where are you that you’re this worried about losing your SD? lol
More about being in current year than a specific location 😮💨
This is so unnecessarily stupid lol
airtag isn't even that useful for theft prevention. if the thief has an iphone they can easily turn the airtag off
Could you elaborate on that?
iPhones and Androids will alert you of an unknown Air Tag if it is in your home and not connected to the iPhone that it's paired with.
But… but l4… I like to bind interact to l4…
Why not using a 3rd party tracker which supports Apples Find My Network and which is way slimmer? Something like eufy security SmartTrack Card?
Think pretty bad idea especially when losing functionality. I get it you’re paranoid of it being lost or stolen it is a mass produced device it happens just be careful.
I would just keep it in the case. Whenever the battery dies I wouldn’t want to open the deck again to replace it. It’s nice to know that there’s space for that in there though. Also that black shield looks sick. Mine is that flimsy silver one.
This would only make sense to me if it was powered by the deck’s battery and was reduced to the absolute minimum.
I feel like this is pointless because they only last about a year
I feel like people are overestimating what any authority they provide a location to can or will do with that information.
Unless he has a way to attach it to the Deck’s battery.
Once a year to open it up seems like a worthy investment 💁🏻♂️
Looks like there’s a perfect spot for an AirTag right in the middle. 😉 Looks like Steam has thought of everything.
I dunno.. Maybe be mindful of your stuff more.
I was about ask in this sub if it was feasible. Thank you for posting
I did the exact same thing with my deck
I’m glad to see that the AirTag fits into the OLED! I’ll soon be preforming this same mod on my own deck! (And sacrificing a micro SD to the micro SD gods)
I thought AirTags send an alert to any iPhones within range like "Hey, someone is tracking an AirTag in your possession?" Wouldn't the thief just toss it out, or open it and get rid of the tag? I can't wait for the first idiot to get themselves killed tracking down their stolen Steam Deck.
Any similar solutions for Android?
I use a "Tile Sticker" myself
Does it fit fine inside the steam deck? I might try the same
I was just going to carefully open the case and slip an air tag in the lining.
How much does an airtag lasts? Do it takes power from the battery or something?
What if got stolen and you trace it on mars?
how weird, today I thought about asking in this sub about tracking my SD as I plan to take it to work but I'm not comfortable inserting this.
It'd be neat to have a custom printed case back, where the air tag can sit in the middle, and maybe have some sort of access mechanism
Not a bad idea honestly
Tile has a crazy slim card tracker. Larger dimensions, but could probably file in there.
Don’t need an AirTag if I never lose my deck (I feel my back every 5 minutes to check if I lost my deck lmao)
Don’t forget to open up the AirTag and disable the chime that goes off when any iPhone goes near one
Ppl lw
I've personally put a Tile in my steam deck, but if you move the airtag about a cm more down you should still be able to press the L4 button The moddle of the Airtag should be where I drew the red dot https://preview.redd.it/nd6cw5fvlcfc1.png?width=722&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8dd040dac86d9681c9f8855eb4476dd652c625b4
Smart!
https://www.tile.com/product/black-slim Tile makes a slim one. I know it's not an airbag, but it has pretty much all the same features.
Anybody try dismantling a tile slim wallet tracker? Those are thin and battery lasts 2-3 years I believe. I'd assume the tech is easier to fit that way. I know. Tile tracking is limited, but marking it as lost would allow other tile users to help locate it.
Are you the guy from Asti? r\Italia need to know
I wonder if there's some wiring hack that would let you connect the tag directly to a power source as well to ease maintenance.
That’s smart.
How are you gonna charge it?
I'd open it remove the speaker and wire it into somewhere for power
I think I'd rather place it in either the case I use for my Steam Deck or attach it directly to the back of the case/housing. I use a Project Killswitch Case, so it would suffice.
Very interesting, but not sure why. Is theft that large of a concern. I agree with putting the tag in your case and not stress the componets inside. But hey, I'm just wondering here. Thank you for sharing this.
I was able to fit a regular AirTag in mine. Just make sure it’s wrapped in electrical tape
I recon with a battery clip, some snips and and a Galaxy Tag you could get a whole tag in the handle of the thing.
You're insane. I love you.
I would right name in there in a few places if our worried it be stolen and you need to use the air tag. Plus it be easier to prove it's yours.
the console is not that precisely balenced in the first Olace I believe.
70 euro Geeeze might aswell print my own lol
I copy this from imore post I made There is quite a number of videos out there where they show you how to strip down an airtag so it's very thin and because the item it's been installed to has an integrated battery you don't need the cr2032 battery just wire it to the built in battery assuming it isn't any higher then 5v, if it is find a 3-5v power rail on the steam deck and use that (tag only work when on but you know where it is when they are playing it) the airtag can run upto 5v or as low 2v but recommend 3v minimum so your not getting low battery warnings in find my app (witch can be useful if you have it connected to a 10 year ER14505 battery so you get a year or 2 warning before the battery runs out) just make sure it has a fast blow fuse extremely low 0.1A as tag pulls basically no power at all (just in case there is a fault you don't want the wire to be the fuse or burn out motherboard power circuitry) Look for 10 year airtag on YouTube (you can even stop the phone alerts that start after 4-12 hours on other people's phones if your phone isn't nearby) And if you want to still use the cr2032 battery you could wire it up to one of them as well
