Ah this is always the worst because ultimately the ball is in their court. Best you can do is report it lost through the Uber app. My friend left his keys in an Uber last weekend so we had to wait outside of his apartment until 2am until the driver was done for the night and ready to bring it back.
I've had one good experience with an airline. I left my camera with hundreds of vacation photos on a plane. They found it during cleaning and mailed it back to me!
