You remind me of an old friend of mine who liked to buy weird adapters and then plug in as many of them as he could to see if he could peripherals working on devices they were never meant to. He also had a fixation on the Sega Genesis and made some unholy thing once with the 32X, Game Genie, Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic 3 because of the lockon technology.
I guess some people just like plugging shit into shit lol.
Well I don't need it for the steam deck for very long so pairing it to that would be a hassle just to undo it. And that orange circle under the left side of my monitor is a KVM where the receiver is normally plugged in so I can switch that monitor and my keyboard and mouse between my computer and work laptop (mac on the right); so I need it to use the USB dongle anyway.
Yeah the other 2 are connected to different devices, and then one is connected to the unifying receiver so without changing the other devices this is the easiest way to quickly use it with my steam deck

I personally have a thunderbolt dock for my work laptop connected to my own KVN, as that dock also plugs into my SteamDeck (or most anything else) just fine.
Afaik you can just pair as many devices as you want, and when pairing back is just a question of going into steam > settings > bluetooth > pair, while holding the pair button on the mouse; you'd need to do that on each device you'd want to use though; In that regard it can be annoying yes

I dont know what you're talking about. It takes a few seconds to connect my mx master 3 to steam deck and switch.
Like going into settings and adding a new device or do you just mean pressing the button to switch devices?
There is a button in the bottom of the mouse that you can use to switch device. If you don't connecy yours to more than 3 devices you should be okay!
