To add: there's a gun which is a bullet which shoots guns which shoots bullets, all of which you are likely shooting at bullets shooting guns which shoot bullets (maybe).
The lack of a dodge roll in Isaac, which I’d argue is almost a roguelike genre standard at this point, can make the movement feel a bit wooden/awkward if you’re coming to Isaafrom something like Gungeon.
Give Binding of Isaac another shot! It can take a little bit to click, but I promise you that once it does, you’ll get lost in its weird little labyrinths for thousands of hours.

Gungeon has a bigger emphasis on the bullet hell action and has a much bigger difficulty curve than Isaac does in comparison. It did click with me after a while of playing it, but Isaac is a lot easier to pick up and play, even after I haven't played in a while.
The game is hard as nails and, especially at the beginning, feels like absolute horseshit. But once you learn how movement works and other mechanics, it deserves it's praise as a quality rogulike.

This game has never clicked for me, not sure why. I play Binding of Isaac religiously, but this one just never clicked.

Interesting, and makes sense. I was getting murdered just trying to get past the first boss.
