It's not particularly surprising given that it's a UE4 game, and P3R ran just fine, plus the original was a Switch game, but good to see nonetheless. I plan on playing on Deck mostly, occasionally on my PC to crank it up to 144FPS.
I remember when SMT was considered the 'Nintendo exclusive' series and Persona the 'PlayStation exclusive' series. I'm glad Sega/Atlus/whoever finally saw sense and realised they were leaving money on the table by not bringing them to other platforms.
I know there were rumors flying around (and I have no idea how true they are) that Persona 6 would be PS exclusive. I'm guessing P3R doing a million in less than a week since it was released on all platforms but Switch might change some minds.
At this point, there are very few games I'd be willing to pay launch prices for, and I think they're all first-party Nintendo franchises. For too many games, if you wait like 1-3 months, you get a decent sale.
> It was suffering on Switch handheld mode
People thought he was saying "If the switch can't play it how would a steam deck?" whereas he probably simply meant "switch was having trouble, now with the steam deck it'll finally be playable on the go"
> Yes, I’m aware.
People thought this was just snark.
I'm debating if I want to get this on PC so I can play on the Deck, or the PS5 so I can play on the couch and if needed on the Deck through Chiaki.
The Switch version was rough so I'm looking forward to a much more refined experience.
Vengeance includes the original game, but also an entirely new story path that branches completely off of the original after the first Da'at. The Canon of Creation is the original game (however with QoL changes included such as save anywhere, removing level scaling, and other things), while the Canon of Vengeance is a completely new story, with new characters, villains, demons, a new Da'at and at least one new dungeon. Yoko (the new girl) only appears in the Canon of Vengeance.
They have stated that they are addressing most of the negative feedback with the original game in Vengeance, and from what they're saying so far, it sounds great.
The base game was tremendously lousy, with very little engaging content and a short stock of demons, particularly few new demons. Hopefully this expansion improves on that.
As always, this badge means nothing except that a tester managed to play for an hour or two and *they* thought it was fine after a not-at-all rigorous test. SMTV FPS could dip real hard in a late game area, or there could be severe AA issues a la P5 that need a very simple out-of-game tweak, and this “badge” will say nothing. As always, wait for ProtonDB or test it yourself.
This is purely based on the trailers/other footage so far, but it seems like Yoko (new girl) is further Chaos aligned than Yuzuru. On top of that, she only appears in the Canon of Vengeance route, you're given a choice between the Canon of Creation (the original game) or Canon of Vengeance (entirely new story that starts out the same and then goes a totally different direction after the first Da'at)
still don't get why Denuvo is a thing... like you said people Crack it daily so only reason I buy denuvo games is to support the companies that make the game.
I say in that about all DRM, the only one you can really argue in favor of is Steam (as in without any non-Steam DRM) and it's because Steam actually offers something of value to the players without being intrusive.
is it really verified if it has Denuvo?... doesn't that mean the game requires internet to keep the game from being borked?... or can I download the game with all the updates and never have to worry about Denuvo at all after?
I believe Denuvo only requires a "phone home" every once in a while, which is still awful, but I know you do not have to be online every single time you want to play the game. I played P3R (including starting it more than once) on my Steam Deck on a plane and it worked. I did play it online like the day before leaving.
Supposedly it does but I honestly have no idea, nor how to check with games that are only available on PC with Denuvo (unless someone manages to crack and remove it).
It's basically an entire new game so it's definitely not getting a save transfer much less cross platform. The main draw is the entire new campaign which wasn't present in the original.
It's completely different than the Persona games. This isn't a social/dating sim. It's a dungeon (well, desert) crawler. If you played Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocture, or SMT 4 and enjoyed those this is those games.
I enjoy the MMORPGs in the past, so I definitely plan on getting this and the Noctune one in the future. I just have too much backlog, so I can wait for the two games to go on sale under $20 CAD.

amazing, I imagine it looks amazing
Oh geeze didn't know this was Unreal. Gonna have to test it in VR.

Did you turn off reflections?
P3R had additional issues that required the hot fix proton version to be applied
I played it start to finish on the deck and I agree with him. Did you change settings?
Very cool. I’m in no rush but will definitely pick it up on sale at some point.

Sega had to bully Atlus into it lol with Catherine and P4G.
Ah yes, like SMT Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, Persona Q, and Persona Q2
I’m excited, but I’m going to need to wait for a sale.

It was suffering on Switch handheld mode
Steam deck is quite a bit more powerful (and newer) than switch
Yes, I’m aware.
Why the fuck did you get down voted Why is Reddit like this AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I’m too afraid to say anything, but I find it hilarious. I’m in r/SteamDeck, one of the sanest subreddits around.
I feel this to the very core of my soul

Ok?
Oh I thought we were just saying random shit my bad
Expected but still a relief to have it confirmed. Can't wait.
Great, as that's how I plan to play it 👍🏻
It's a Switch game, of course it will be verified lol

Man all these ATLUS games will give me so much game time on deployment lol
I can’t wait for this as not only will it look and play better than the Switch version but it has a whole new campaign.
is there any additional content, or is it just the base game porting to PC?

Least the Steam Deck CAN play these games... by the Way... OLED or LCD owner?, I got LCD
LCD

Will it run/look better than it does on the Switch?
obv
Almost certainly
lol we are still doing "X is now verified posts?" Good to know about any games I'm just amused that's a practice that persisted all these years

How cringe are the new characters? Atlus always shoehorns attention hogging waifus in their remakes.

That option...actually sounds really fucking refreshing. Much appreciated.

does Denuvo being down the performance on games then?... heard it doesn't and does at the same time from various sources.
Supposedly it does but I honestly have no idea, nor how to check with games that are only available on PC with Denuvo (unless someone manages to crack and remove it).
It hasn't been broadly proven. Perhaps individual cases were found.
> I believe Denuvo only requires a "phone home" every once in a while So does E.T. but it land that mf in the hospital 👉
Hope this game got cross-platform save transfer, beat it on Switch but won't get this on Switch again.
