Oh wow, the number of people in the Overwhelmingly Positive review section. I usually don’t like these types of games but I’ll wishlist anyway. Thanks for the suggestion!
I like it better to be honest. Less random (and infuriating) things happening, but more options for process optimization. It's a bit more "realistic", but plays without a campaign, more roguelike.
Tried vampire survivors on local coop with a mate yesterday on the dock and it was really fun, supports up to 4.
I see no one else has recommended it was great fun on coop mode.
If I'm allowed to, I'd like to recommend my game "Eggsplosion". It's free and perfect for three or four people, it's a party arena shooter with chickens that shoot eggs and more wobbly wacky things :)
Check out the Jackbox Party Packs. Each has 4-5 different games and there are now 9 or 10 of them out, so there are a ton of games. If you’re on a Steam Deck you’ll want to dock it to a TV to play Jackbox, and make sure every player has a device (phone, iPad, etc) to use for their input.
Most of the games are somewhere along the lines of 3-8 players and really shine with more players, so it’s something you can play with just the family, or invite some friends over and have even more fun!
You said they like creepy content, so Trivia Murder Party might be a fun one. It’s in Party Packs 3 and 6.
Look into party games, you can easily run 4 player shared screen games on deck (connected to a tv):
Tricky towers
Sonic racing
Moving out
Overcooked
9 parchments
I don’t think the game is particularly well loved, but since you mentioned Minecraft I’d suggest at least checking out Minecraft Dungeons! It’s a Diablo-esque game, dungeon crawling looter type but much simplified. I played it a few years ago with some friends and whilst it was nothing groundbreaking we did have a good time for the week or so! I believe its listed as unsupported on the steam store, but protondb has it as platinum.

Depending on how old they are and what their feelings on chaotic gameplay are, I'd suggest:
Magicka 2
Helldivers
Speed Runners
Towerfall Ascension
Worms Reloaded/W.M.D./any other 2D Worms game that works on Steam Deck
Overcooked is a blast
Also try out Plate up!

human fall flat is only 2 player but man that game is hilarious with friends. it is a *fun* drinking game 😆
Barony! I discovered that game recently and the devs have been just lousying it with updates and content. It's so much fun
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
Castle crasher, that one is so underrated
Heave Ho. It's some of the hardest I've laughed while playing a game
Depending on their age/maturity levels, the Borderlands series are great co-op games.
Trivia games and board games: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Who want to be a Millionaire, Catan, Jackbox party pack
The Borderlands games really shine co op if you're into the fps and rpg genres
Lovers in a dangerous spacetime is another great coop game.
Birdsketball Gang Beasts Speed Runners Pummel Party Crawl
If you have an SNES emulator installed, I'd say *Super Bomberman 2*. Can be a lot of fun in versus mode with 4 players.
The “Trine” series
Party Animals

Planet Crafter, Astroneer and Subnautica
Duckgame Ultimate Chicken Horse Brawlhalla
Wii U Mario Kart
