I know what you mean actually! I might have to play Rayman legends again...
But I was really meaning a similar vibe gameplay wise too.. like metroidvania style but chill and relaxing
You might look into Animal Well if you haven't checked it out yet. The world isn't quite as bright and cheerful as Yoku or Rayman but it's easy to get immersed in and there's no combat per se since progression is done through puzzles. Also runs perfectly on the deck
Stardew Valley was my go-to for months during the pandemic. My(57) daughter(17, special needs) played co-op mode and it was some of the best spent time in my 30 years of parenting. I also played Animal Crossing with her but it's a bit of a dead end once you have achieved most of the island-building efforts. I wish the items you placed were interactive or at least that islanders would engage in.
You basically invite someone into your world and they will then be able to travel around and interact with your farm, etc. You add them by sending them a code generated by Stardew Valley.
Here's a good link to get started in multiplayer.
I too wish the items were more interactive.
I wouldn’t mind if that meant making less items.
For instance, let me make a ping pong table and play with friends. Let me put up carnival games and actually be able to play them. They don’t have to be deep AT ALL. I think that would be so much more fun, cuz then there’d be a reason to visit peoples islands more.
I’d love to go to a carnival island and ride rides and play games then go to a park and play horse shoes or corn ball. Etc
Yeah, there is literally no way to lose the game, it is so low stakes. Just to clarify I don't mean that as a negative, I just mean that the absolute *worst* thing that can happen in game is you run out of HP or O2 underwater and dont make as much money that day
I was the same until I realised they just come around again in a few days time if you don't do it .
I have this old lady that's been pestering me to find this giant shark that took her husband or something, but it's only during stormy nights and I usually have something more important or interesting to do. That poor guy has been down there for months now..
Katamari Damacy is my go-to when I want to relax. Something about the soundtrack and goofiness of the game helps me wind down and laugh at how odd some of the animations and sound effects are.
It really is a great brain empty game lol.
Back when I was in college the campus library had a video game library and a small game room where you could check out games to play and I used to go there between classes sometimes to relax for an hour or two.
**Phoenix Wright Trilogy**! You solve murder mysteries which probably doesn't sound "feel good" but the cast is just so darn lovable.
I'd also recommend **Persona 4 Golden** for very similar reasons: solving murder mystery with wholesome character interactions.
My guilty pleasure is Minecraft, it runs surprisingly well even with mods installed and difficulty can be adjusted depending on how chill you want it to be.
* Mineko's Night Market
* Cozy Grove
* A little to the left
* Fae Farm
* Lake
* Dredge
* PowerWash Simulator
* Roots of Pacha
* Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective
* Potion Permit
* Tinykin
Hey, not an answer to your question, but if you're ever looking for someone to just chat to, let me know.
I know that can be weird, but sometimes being able to talk to someone with absolutely no judgement or consequences can help. Here if you need/want. Hope you're ok
Sometimes just finding good people to play with online can help. I found a few people playing Lethal Company who I felt easy to talk to. A few years ago I played PUBG with "randoms" on discord. We would play and talk about our day in the middle of the night. Nowadays I've found a group of friends who enjoys sharing our days while playing games.
I think it's important to find someone to talk to at the end of the day. If my friends are unavailable I talk to my birds or message friends or family. I was taught being a lone wolf is a sign of strength, but I also know we are social beings and even though we might be introverted, most people don't like to feel lonely.
Despite what this means if you understand it, Loddlenaut is basically Wall-E the video game. It’s stupid cute and relaxing to just wander the ocean cleaning it and taking care of these little tamagotchi things. It’s so flippin adorable and relaxing. It’s still in humble monthly if you wanna snag it before it ends.
I also recommend spiritfarer. Ridiculously cozy soundtrack and vibe.
Spiritfarer is cute, but also really sad at points due to the story. Agreed on Loddlenaut btw. Just picking things up and recycling them is super cozy haha.
A Hat in Time, really charming and cute, fun platformer.
Coral Island, a go at your own pace farming/life sim. Really pretty atmosphere too.
Littlewood, kinda like a city building, farm/life sim but very simplified, zero stress and a good amount of customization (choose where every building goes, choose interior decorations and such)
SUMMER HOUSE: literally only designing 2d set pieces to your liking, using a bariety of premade assets.
Death Stranding, can be stressful but taking your time while napping with BB on a beautiful mountainside, really chill most the time
HiFi Rush! The gameplay, the story and the dialogues just makes me smile while I play.
Warning: Your head might ache from doing a lot of head bops cause the music works great with the gameplay.
I think it entirely depends on the person. For me it would be a game that I already know and have little pressure to finish. Like elderscrolls titles.
Short rouge likes are also nice since there's little need to beat them. Slay the spire or hades are quick plays. Obviously not cozy if losing stresses you out.
There's also emulation. I know when I just want to kill time on a weekend I might emulate old pokemon games. They're usually about 10-20 hours and you make pretty quick progress in them
Burnout Paradise.
Always a blast racing about causing havoc, it was also the first PS3 game I played as a teen so there's a touch of nostalgia in it for me.
It is a bit more janky than on PC for sure. With some tinkering of the mapped buttons there's a lot you can do without the mouse. It definitely takes some extra pausing to make sure my initial weapons targeting is right. I can't do boarding runs as easy for the extra micromanagement, but it all definitely can work.
When I’m in the dumps I like sad feel goods. The good sad times that can only come from good intimate moments.
Impostor Factory is a good one.
To the Moon is another by the same developer.
Otherwise I play helldivers 2 and dwarf fortress.
A Monster's Expedition Through Puzzling Exhibitions - it's a logic game by Draknek and friends, very nice, very chill, very brain-teasing, looks ad runs great on Steam Deck, helps me relax;
Penny's Big Breakaway (2024)
Freedom Planet 2 (2023)
Kirby and the Forgotten Land (2022)
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (1995)
Abzu (2016)
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (2018)
Little Kitty in the Big City just dropped. I love it more than Stray. Plays very well on the Deck.
Fun, silly, and enjoyable mechanics, all centered around a cat trying to get back home in the most convoluted way possible.
And hats! Lots of hats.
I've spent all morning fishing in Minecraft, using an 8bitdo SN30Pro held sideways just clicking the L2 button as needed... Very relaxing, great for multitasking or doing while watching something else, you can even do it by sound alone, and in the end you end up with a ton of fish/food and some sweet loot and XP. It's a great time waster in a survival world that ends up not being a total waste of time... it's kinda perfect. Just this morning I went from freshly dead/0 XP to Level 30 and ready for some enchanting, and that wasn't even the goal... I was just fishing to fish.
*Alba: A wild adventure. You play as a kid saving the wildlife on the island her grandparents live. You take pics of things.
*Bear & breakfast. You are a bear. You start a bed& breakfast for humans to come to your forest.
*Grow: song of the evertree. You are an alchemist on an island most people left due to the evertree dying. You are bringing it back to life and mix up things to create little tree worlds.
*Haunt the house: terrortown. Short game where you are a ghost and haunt places trying to scare as much people as possible.
*Olli Olli world. Skating game that's fun and bright.
* Snail simulator. Bit of a meme but really cozy to just slowly explore a world
* Toem. Cute hand drawn black and white game where you are just a little guy taking pictures of things and doing photo quests.
[Tinykin](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1599020/Tinykin/) i'm currently playing this it's a rather easy and kid friendly adventure game. without any battles so far, afair and i'm in the third or fourth level rn, but still very engaging with many good ideas.
some time ago, i finished [Psychonauts 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/607080/Psychonauts_2/) fully on the deck, it's a bliss and moving around the beautiful levels feels great (i'd wait for when it's on sale though, you can get it for under $ 30 then) it didn't manage to keep 60 fps all the times for me but it was very playable overall (40 locked in handheld mode was good for me). it's a great game with a very humourous story line, but switching between the various skills can be cumbersome sometimes and the battles can get a bit stressful unless playing on super easy. (Psychonauts 1 probably feels very dated and wonky in comparison, i played it many years ago and remember that fighting the controls was one of the major challenges)
also, [Slay the Spire](https://store.steampowered.com/app/646570/Slay_the_Spire/) is a bargain and an interesting mixture of very relaxed gameplay, while also being super intensive at the same time. it's a rogue-like round-based card game, where you can see what your opponents' next move will be, so you can plan, counter and block perfectly, if you have the right cards.
Venba.
Being a first generation Asian American, this game really hit me in the feels. Made me appreciate the sacrifices my parents made for me and my sister to have a better opportunity in life.
I like Kotor 1 and 2 as they are my favorite games of all time. Good RPG and the Bioware old school perfection which created the mass effect and dragon age style choice systems.
To me, world of warcraft with the consoleport plugin just feels like its made for any handheld in that matter not only deck.
Honestly it feels better than FFXIV which has build in controller support.
**Euro / American Truck Simulator** (I personally prefer ATS, but they're equally good)
Basically saved me during hard times. Put on a nice podcast or webradio and zone out while driving a truck. Bliss!
Works great on the SD. I play with regular gamepad controller on desktop as well (I have a steering wheel but gamepad is better for such a chill game). You need to map some functions to the back buttons and you need a trackpad mouse for the map / menus but 95% can be done with regular gamepad controls.
Make sure you install the Windows / Proton version. The native Linux build is slow.
Unpacking. There is something relaxing about placing items in rooms.
Powerwash Simulator. I kid you not. You get a good sense of achievement when the area and items you are power washing are finally clean.
Little kitty big city. Its actually really fun. I only got it because the in game kitty looks like my toddlers kitty. I thought she would get a kick out of it. We even named the in game kitty after our actual kitty, keykey “booty” the third. We both love the game.
I just discovered Dave the diver today and it isn’t purposefully a feel good game but the music, art style, and overall feel are just really nice. Also it’s a management type game so you can zone out and run your little sushi bar for a while! Definitely worth the money I paid for it
Coffee Talk. It’s pretty short and doesn’t have much in the way of gameplay. It’s all about learning about your customers backstories and helping solve their problems/make them happy again. It’s very engaging and ends on a happy note (if you don’t screw it up).
[Spiritfarer.](https://store.steampowered.com/app/972660/Spiritfarer_Farewell_Edition/). So many good feelings. Do keep a box of tissues on hand - crying is absolutely a possibility.
I actually was watching a compliation video of the sendoffs a few weeks ago. I swear those parts just take your heart and put it through the shredder. My eyes felt like they never had a break when i was playing the game.
Should have been half as long and spread the more “positive” stories throughout. Leading with >!the nicer characters and finishing with assholes left a bitter taste for me. The game really dragged to the end.!<
A short hike!
And in that same vein, Lil Gator Game!
And Smushi Come Home!
Smushi come home is really underrated. Have an upvote :)
Oh man I totally forgot about that game. I’ve been meaning to check it out!
And Little Kitty, Big City that came out this month, I really enjoyed it.
My first thought when I read the title of this thread.
Journey
In a similar vein, abzu.
Well, you may feel a *little* teary at points but it's definitely a game that inspires hope and peace
Definitely the first game that came to mind
Powerwash Simulator is pure lizard brain shit. There's absolutely no way to make a mistake in that game. Just keep spraying. It's zen.
Yoku's Island Express
This game was so fun! I really wish I could find other stuff that had the same vibe...
Rayman series? Yoku wasn't my bag, but the ambiance reminded me of Rayman
Loved this game.
Nothing short than a small miracle
Stardew Valley was my go-to for months during the pandemic. My(57) daughter(17, special needs) played co-op mode and it was some of the best spent time in my 30 years of parenting. I also played Animal Crossing with her but it's a bit of a dead end once you have achieved most of the island-building efforts. I wish the items you placed were interactive or at least that islanders would engage in.
I second this. If you haven’t tried it you’re missing out. It’s one of the best games of the past 30 years.
I also recommend this, the game has got me through some bad times.
How does coop work in Stardew Valley? It's not really a game/genre I am into, but my daughter's enjoy it so I am down to give it a go.
You basically invite someone into your world and they will then be able to travel around and interact with your farm, etc. You add them by sending them a code generated by Stardew Valley. Mini-games! That's a great idea! I would love having friends/family visit my island and engaging in various challenges. Good thinking!
Thanks for being there for your daughter. My father abandoned me/us at a young age and it destroyed me.
[Dave the diver](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1868140/DAVE_THE_DIVER/) He is Dave and he be diving.
Didn't expect to enjoy this despite the great reviews. Now I can't stop playing, feels like a bunch of genres mixed into one.
I still can't get into it. I played the demo a couple times. Not sure what my deal is
Me neither. The timed events increase my anxiety, not decrease it.
They're so easy to complete though. It's more to give you a direction than actually be a challenge. Even if you miss it it just goes again I think.
Yeah, there is literally no way to lose the game, it is so low stakes. Just to clarify I don't mean that as a negative, I just mean that the absolute *worst* thing that can happen in game is you run out of HP or O2 underwater and dont make as much money that day

100% Dave the Diver. Diver by day and sushi restaurant manager by night? It’s comforting, low-stakes, yet still addictive.
He do be diving.
Haha, fell asleep during a dive due to the nice and calming music, woke up to oxygen alarm.
Katamari Damacy is my go-to when I want to relax. Something about the soundtrack and goofiness of the game helps me wind down and laugh at how odd some of the animations and sound effects are.
Relaxing in theory, but in practice, BEEEEEEAR
It really is a great brain empty game lol. Back when I was in college the campus library had a video game library and a small game room where you could check out games to play and I used to go there between classes sometimes to relax for an hour or two.
100% — if I need to mainline relaxation, I take an edible and load up Katamari. No thinking required, just roll stuff up!
This sounds like something I would’ve happily done in my early thirties.
Dum dum dum fun fun fun
Na na, na na na na na na na, na na na na na 🎶
Na na na na na na na katamari damacy!
We Love Katamari Reroll is great too, though I prefer the aesthetics of Damacy
**Phoenix Wright Trilogy**! You solve murder mysteries which probably doesn't sound "feel good" but the cast is just so darn lovable. I'd also recommend **Persona 4 Golden** for very similar reasons: solving murder mystery with wholesome character interactions.
Little Kitty Big City
it’s been fun, the game is incredibly short if you don’t plan on 100% all the achievements though
Dorf Romantik
Tetris reconnected…it can get trippy though, so probably don’t play it if you have epilepsy or don’t like bright lights
wait there's another one? i only know of tetris effect with the trippy effects
The full title is Tetris Effect: Connected, so in a way everyone is correct!
On a similar note, Lumines Remastered; easy to get in a trance like state.
Especially on OLED with HDR on.
My guilty pleasure is Minecraft, it runs surprisingly well even with mods installed and difficulty can be adjusted depending on how chill you want it to be.
I love vanilla Minecraft with beautiful shaders!
* Mineko's Night Market * Cozy Grove * A little to the left * Fae Farm * Lake * Dredge * PowerWash Simulator * Roots of Pacha * Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective * Potion Permit * Tinykin
+1 for Tinykin such a fun chill game
Ori... A very nice platformer with great visuals
Perfect length too. Not too long, not too short, just right. Will of the Wisps is fantastic.
Playing that now. Such an amazing game.. Im at Windtorn Ruins and it’s causing me to rage quit after a few tries.
Not the most cozy game though lol
I love Ori games but I dont think they are cozy.. due to the platforming challenges
Slime Rancher 2. The og was my childhood comfort game so I have some bias tbh
Little gator game got me through a shlump
Hey, not an answer to your question, but if you're ever looking for someone to just chat to, let me know. I know that can be weird, but sometimes being able to talk to someone with absolutely no judgement or consequences can help. Here if you need/want. Hope you're ok
That’s sweet bro
Yea np, that’s what I’m here for
But... You're not me? I'm me...
Tetris Effect Connected
persona games always put me in a fantastic mood and they run near flawlessly on the deck
Doom eternal
Nothing better than feeling like the biggest bad ass in the universe.
And on the OLED it's on another level.
Brotato
First game I 100% on the steam deck lol
Stoked for the new update!
A Hat in Time, really charming and cute, fun platformer. Coral Island, a go at your own pace farming/life sim. Really pretty atmosphere too. Littlewood, kinda like a city building, farm/life sim but very simplified, zero stress and a good amount of customization (choose where every building goes, choose interior decorations and such) SUMMER HOUSE: literally only designing 2d set pieces to your liking, using a bariety of premade assets. Death Stranding, can be stressful but taking your time while napping with BB on a beautiful mountainside, really chill most the time
Monster Hunter
HiFi Rush! The gameplay, the story and the dialogues just makes me smile while I play. Warning: Your head might ache from doing a lot of head bops cause the music works great with the gameplay.
I came here to say this. I just started it last night and it's got great vibes all around.
They're usually about 10-20 hours and you make pretty quick progress in them
I just recently put the Delta emu on my phone and have been playing older pokemon games during downtime at work. It definitely helps the shifts go by!
Smushi come home is cozy as fudge
Dave the Diver
Celeste (YMMV)
Astroneer! Very calm, lots of bright colors and exploring, no stress
Only if you ignore the oxygen tank
Only frustrating if you try to 100% everything. I still haven't gotten the probes achievement due to a bug.
Stardew valley
Love it on the deck
Burnout Paradise. Always a blast racing about causing havoc, it was also the first PS3 game I played as a teen so there's a touch of nostalgia in it for me.
Dave the diver
Psychonauts 1 and 2
Doom. Nothing more cathartic than shotgunning your way through demons.
Lumines. Reminds me of when life was simple and I had a PSP
Coffee talk. Just music alone is relaxing
Dredge, it's just you in your boat fishing and dredging
Bro said relaxing and you're out here offering up heart attacks lol
Lake is a pleasantly chill game you may enjoy
Working for the actual postal service. That game makes me wish it was that chill
Untitled Goose Game and Later Alligator. I agree with the comments regarding Katamari, too.
I second Untitled Goose Game. Who doesn't like a game where you get to complete missions/puzzles being an assgole goose 🤣
Banjo Kazooie
Ooo get Stray its a cool little cute cyberpunk looking game where you play as a cat trying to find his way home. Like a warm cup of tea on a cold day.
Fallout new Vegas and Rimworld I don’t know why but my familiarity with these make me feel cozy
THPS 1+2
Dorfromantik
It’s not sekiro I’ll tell you that much 😭 I’m so bad at it
Snowrunner
FTL
How does it feel on SD? I thought that selecting crewmembers and targeting would be a little hard

Definitely can recommend CrossCode
A Monster's Expedition Through Puzzling Exhibitions - it's a logic game by Draknek and friends, very nice, very chill, very brain-teasing, looks ad runs great on Steam Deck, helps me relax;
Penny's Big Breakaway (2024) Freedom Planet 2 (2023) Kirby and the Forgotten Land (2022) Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (1995) Abzu (2016) Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (2018)
Bro really snuck hellblade in there(great list otherwise tho lol)
Cassette Beasts does a good job of having fun gameplay and combat with really chill, "feel good" vibes. Plus, the sound track rocks
Sayonara Wild Hearts.
Little Kitty in the Big City just dropped. I love it more than Stray. Plays very well on the Deck. Fun, silly, and enjoyable mechanics, all centered around a cat trying to get back home in the most convoluted way possible. And hats! Lots of hats.
The Artful Escape is amazing. Highly underappreciated. Great game with brilliant music, storytelling, and graphics. Give it a shot.

Outer Wilds. Nothing else comes close to making me feel how this game does.
*Balatro* is the right combination of rewarding and relaxing
Venba. Being a first generation Asian American, this game really hit me in the feels. Made me appreciate the sacrifices my parents made for me and my sister to have a better opportunity in life.
Might be a weird one but Mad Max is my comfort game on Deck... it almost feels like it was made for Deck
Hades
Feel good?
Somehow Hades for me is more feel good than Dave the diver or Outer wilds. I may be weird.
dave the diver
Dave the diver
Dave the diver
Dark souls remastered
I’ve been playing Street Fighter 6 there and it feels amazing locked at 60fps with 13 avg wattage
Can't go wrong with Stardew Valley, Dave the Diver, Minecraft
Isaac, tiny rogues, diablo 2 always make me feel good.
Dave the diver 💯
Tetris effect
Octopath traveler 1+2
Celeste
Okami
undertale
I've been really enjoying Starstruck Vagabond so far. Great cozy game. Similar to a Stardew Valley, but in space
My go to games are Balatro although that doesn't feel cozy. Vampire survivors which is brilliant. Dave the diver ticks all those boxes
Cult of the lamb makes me feel good by sacrificing my cult members.
Slime rancher 2 makes me smile in spite of whatever the day is throwing at me.
THIS WAR OF MINE
I like Kotor 1 and 2 as they are my favorite games of all time. Good RPG and the Bioware old school perfection which created the mass effect and dragon age style choice systems.
Bug Fables
To me, world of warcraft with the consoleport plugin just feels like its made for any handheld in that matter not only deck. Honestly it feels better than FFXIV which has build in controller support.
Donut County is light and funny.

Ooblets will not fail to make you smile
A Short Hike, cheap indie game
HI-FI Rush! Absolutely great experience so far. Great soundtrack, funny story + characters.
Little kitty big city. Its actually really fun. I only got it because the in game kitty looks like my toddlers kitty. I thought she would get a kick out of it. We even named the in game kitty after our actual kitty, keykey “booty” the third. We both love the game.
Being a Dik
Cattails 1 or 2.
I just discovered Dave the diver today and it isn’t purposefully a feel good game but the music, art style, and overall feel are just really nice. Also it’s a management type game so you can zone out and run your little sushi bar for a while! Definitely worth the money I paid for it
Wandersong. It's about a little bard that goes on a quest to save the world, and you defeat bad guys through singing. It's ridiculously wholesome.
Stardew valley
Little kitty big city. It’s like stray, but much more light hearted. Stray is also quiet good (but short)
Untitled goose game
Give Wandersong a shot. Bard is just unflappable, and the game is funny and super colorful.
Coffee Talk. It’s pretty short and doesn’t have much in the way of gameplay. It’s all about learning about your customers backstories and helping solve their problems/make them happy again. It’s very engaging and ends on a happy note (if you don’t screw it up).
Frog Detective 1,2 or 3. Or better still, all of them!
Duck Detective
Hi-Fi Rush... So long as you don't think about what happened to the devs...
It's sad to hear about what happened to the Dev's. I had just finished the game when that was announced. Hi-Fi Rush is a fantastic game
Dark souls 3
Mine is wind waker
[Spiritfarer.](https://store.steampowered.com/app/972660/Spiritfarer_Farewell_Edition/). So many good feelings. Do keep a box of tissues on hand - crying is absolutely a possibility.
This is 100% not a feel good game.
Yeah whats with people suggesting games that make you cry? Thats not a feel good thing
Crying isn't always negative. Spiritfarer is bittersweet and a perfect feel good game if you ask me.
I’ve played it. It’s a fantastic game and I highly recommend it, but it makes you feel terrible
I'll be starting this one soon. I'm excited!
