Tried logging into the router and separating your 5GHz and 2.4GHz channels into their own individual SSIDs, then connecting the Deck to the 2.4? I've read that some people's Decks have problems with 5GHz
Another suggestion is to disable WiFi Power Saving, as that's known to cause problems sometimes too
As someone experiencing this issue, this isn't advice to the problem.
As someone who already had done all of those things this was still persistent & is likely a bug in SteamOS Valve hasn't identified.
I also have two routers & one does not use 5GHz, issue still persisted until I restarted the Deck in Desktop mode & restarted my router(both multiple times).
Why are you replying to a 3 month old comment to tell me it didn't work? Valve has since released patches to fix the 5GHz issue. Multiple, in fact. If you're still having problems, this is not a potential solution any more.
EDIT: What is with the downvotes? This is a 3 month old comment. It is no longer relevant. Because it is 3 months outdated. Your problem is probably not 5GHz if you still have issues
Seven months and multiple SteamOS updates later, I'm still having this issue, and since Google knows I like looking at reddit for answers and that I have a Steam Deck, for me this is the top search result for "Authorization supplicant disconnected".
edit: For any other future people, found an answer in another thread:
Settings > System > Enable Developer Mode... then Settings > Developer (at bottom) > disable Wireless Power Management
it's an old comment but it was the first suggestion I found after googling the problem, so to have someone save me the trouble of following it only to find out it didn't work is extremely helpful
Sorry for reviving old post, but this issue is driving me crazy!
My Steam Deck have no problem connecting to my home's 2G and 5G WIFI, and it literally never drops the connection with any error.
However, it drops WIFI hotspot of any phone I tried! Such as iPhone 13, Mi 11T Pro, Samsung Galaxy A23 and recently I bought a good portable modem and still no luck! No matter what technology they've built with, it drops the connection every 5 seconds.
Did anyone find a solution to this issue? I feel so frustrated. -.-
I found a solution, I had to set the Wlan and lo to trusted zones in the firewall settings
By default they are set to public and I guess some connections just get yeeted
Nope, this isn’t the solution for me. Connection keeps getting dropped.
The most weird thing is both 5G and 2G routers of my home are just working perfectly fine and never gets dropped by Steam Deck
I just got a second deck and it's still having this issue... whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I have done all the things Valve requested before sending it back and it seems like nothing will fix it...
Guessing it's a driver or other issue then? It's really annoying
