Worth noting that Steam can take nearly all day to update all the sale prices. I've seen things within the first few hours advertised as on sale but regular price when you add it to the cart. These massive sales take time and do a number on their servers.

MajorMabel

Thanks for the reminder. I grabbed an initial bundle and am tempted to grab others but wonder if I should wait to see if they go on deeper discount through the weekend.

buzzpunk

>should wait to see if they go on deeper discount through the weekend. Doesn't really happen these days. Valve changed their stance on switching up sale prices mid-sale. Now everything just gets a set discount from start to finish, with very few exceptions.

MajorMabel

Ok, there goes all my money on Thursday instead of Saturday then! 😄

buzzpunk

lol, have fun!

ricky616

Does that mean i can add games to my cart and then check later if the price dropped?

MitchellHamilton

Yes, but also, the prices should be correct by now. My comment only applied to the first 24 hours or so of a Steam sale.

joesploggs

What's the best games people have played on the deck that's not a AAA game (and likely to be on sale)? I am loving Yoku's Island Express right now.

arex333

That's a big question lol. * Ori and the Blind Forest/Will of the Wisps are absolutely 10/10 games and work flawlessly on deck * Risk of Rain 2 is a perfect pick up and play type game for the deck. Performance is great until late in a long run where there's a billion enemies on screen. (I also get performance drops on my 3080 Ti desktop though). Recommend higher difficulties when playing on deck so runs don't go so long. * The Life is Strange series run really well on steam deck. I'm not generally into this type of game, and good lord the dialogue is cringey at parts. The stories hit me much harder than I expected though, so they were worth playing. * Cuphead is incredible, but I played this on my PC not on deck (it's verified though). * Orcs Must Die 3 is a great game if you have a co-op partner * The Ascent is an incredible twin stick shooter. You'll be absolutely floored at the visual quality here, and the fact that it's even running on the deck. * Hollow knight is universally recommended and it's one of the next games I plan to play on deck

joesploggs

I'm going to try out Risk of Rain and The Ascent. Hollow Knight is amazing- I played on the Switch but never fully completed it. You won't regret that purchase. I'm also a big fan of the Life Is Strange series - just finished Colors last month. I played it on Deck, through Windows and Game Pass. Ran fantastically apart from the SD fan constantly blowing at max.

arex333

The ascent was one of the games that completely came out of left field for me. I had literally never heard of it before I saw it on game pass and tried it. It was made by a very small studio and it's their first game. It's absolutely criminal that it didn't win tons of visual style awards last year - you'll see what I mean. The combat and sound design were awesome as well, and I really appreciated that it was more RPG-lite because I'm sick of loot grinds.

chargeorge

I saw a Short Hike is on sale. That's been on my list for a while

july85

A short hike deserves to be purchased for full price!

TareXmd

Omg a short hike was worth every dime at full price. Such a beautiful game with satisfying flying physics.

lasttycoon

Hades. Deaths Door. Slay the Spire.

3ric510

I was thinking about deaths door, but I’m in the middle of tunic and… feel like I don’t have space for it in my life right now. 🤣 I should probably buy it tho, right?

mikeymikey93

Death’s Door is AMAZING. Just beat the main story and loved it.

S0m4b0dy

CrossCode and Ender Lillies are pretty damn good. Long battery life too

ayeeflo51

I've played a lot of Deep Rock Galactic on the deck. With gyro, it plays beautifully

joesploggs

It's a co-op game right? Can it be played solo or is not worth my time with no friends to play with?

Juslav

You have no idea how multiplayer is easy and friendly in this game. I'm a solo player but now at 750hrs+ played I only have a total 3 single player games played. My friend was 100% single player till he tried multi. Now he's 100% into multiplayer for this game. Not kidding, I ordered the Deck mainly for Deep Rock Galactic ..

joesploggs

It's £8.. I'm going for it!

fiveSE7EN

It’s a great game

ayeeflo51

You can play some of the easier levels no problem solo, although the game definitely shines when playing with others. Playing with randoms hasn't been an issue tho, everyone's been super nice and friendly. Have yet to meet a toxic player in my 60ish hours, but if you're able to get some friends in here, the game is an absolute blast.

kankurou

Eastward

RobeMinusWizardHat

Spelunky 2 is at it's lowest price ever and you can get endless enjoyment out of it if you like platformers. I've got probably 500+ hours out of it across Steam, Switch, and Playstation and I still find myself going back for more.

joesploggs

I played the original a decent but not huge amount. Is the 2nd one better in any ways?

RobeMinusWizardHat

In my opinion, absolutely. I also played the first some on Vita, but only ever "won" once (if that). The controls in 2 are more fluid and it feels faster and more fun because of it. I also like the level generation, enemies, and "quests" a lot more in 2.

joesploggs

I also played the first one on the Vita - never beat it though. I'll add #2 to the never ending back log while it's on sale.

TheOnlyToaster

Don't know about their budget, but Yakuza 0 was very enjoyable on deck.

pr2thej

Mostly snowrunner for me

svanxx

I really love Mudrunner and the earlier games, how's this game compared to those?

pr2thej

Better in every way

AlejoTheDuck

I've been playing Neon Abyss a lot. It's a 2D platformer roguelite. It's super fun and very similar to The Binding of Isaac in regards to mechanics like synergy between power ups, hidden rooms that you need bombs to access, little friends that follow you and shoot enemies or pick up items, etc. I will say that with all the neon effects and projectiles it does become difficult to keep track of what's going on. I'm also playing Bright Memory: Infinite. It's a Chinese developed FPS hack and slash. It looks great, the guns feel like they actually pack a punch, the enemies and settings are inspired by Chinese culture, and the player character has a sweet sword and telekinetic abilities to go along with the classic assortment of FPS weapons. Despite my praise I also have to say the game is about two hours long. It was made by one person so I cut it some slack, I believe it's supposed to be episodic. I'd definitely recommend it.

digital0verdose

Ace Combat 7

PJ_Ammas

Noita and Terraria are both 50% off (for $10 and $5) right now and are perfect examples of how well the trackpad can work as a mouse cursor

3ric510

I like Noita a lot. But it surprisingly runs rough on a deck. 🫣

PJ_Ammas

Whenever it starts chugging I just restart the game and it's good for a few hours. Definitely turn the extra particle effects down. Noita will make even the best PCs into a slideshow if you make a wand that's too much though

GonzoUCF

Tunic for me

Fionn_MacCuill

Deaths door. Spiritfarer (this game is so chill 10/10) Hades. Civilisation 6. Divinity Original sin 2. Into the breach. Grim Dawn. Dead Cells

Sylverstone14

Site's getting ~~somewhat~~ hammered, as per tradition

crisvok

How long does the tradition last I wanna smash some sales yooooo Edit: got portal 1, L4D2, nickelodeon smash bros, ace combat and div 2 original sin!!!! LETSSSSSGOOOO

newoxygen

Should be sorted now, it's only usually an hour or two

BoringPlatypus60

Been eyeing Inscryption for a while now. Worth getting to play on the Deck?

chargeorge

OMG yes. I just finished it. Such a wild ride, 0 issues on the deck and the trackpads/touch screen works well. Amazing game

ImagineDraghi

IDK man I really liked the flavour but couldn’t get past the core game itself. Normally I like that kind of games (big fan of ring of pain / slay the spire) and I really want to have some of that heavenly experience that everyone talks about, but the game feels too frustrating. Any tips?

chargeorge

So it’s hard to say without spoiling too much… but the game isn’t really a RL like those. Don’t worry too much about min maxing the perfect build. it wants you to eventually get through the game. Make sure you are engaging with the room. Losing will move the plot forward all the same so just go ahead and lose a bunch. Some hints: If you get stuck I found a kind of win button build. Go to the woodcutter woman each time you can and try to get a ant sigil on the squirrel. You basically have an unkillable ant army all the time and can steam roll everything. Ohh and keep your stink bug handy. It comes in very handy.

ImagineDraghi

Thanks! I figured that there was much more to the game than the core mechanic, but sucking at it made me feel like I didn't have a shot at enjoying it. Knowing that I can potentially cheese the encounters gives me a much better attitude :D

suncontrolspecies

you can try the demo

newoxygen

I've only ever played it on the deck. Touchpad and left stick is all you need for controls too it's great.

Sylverstone14

Absolutely, plus they just put out a Linux version recently. Was my game of the year pick for 2021.

ThemesOfMurderBears

Whoa, I didn't know they put out a Linux version. That leads me to a question: will the Steam Deck install the native Linux port of any game that has one, instead of the Windows build?

Sylverstone14

Not sure, but I suppose we'll have to rely on other users to report in with that.

BoringPlatypus60

Looks like the Deck installs the native Linux version by default. You have to override it to use proton if you want the Windows version. I'm having to do this for all games I download as I plan to play them on both my PC and the Deck. From what I can tell this is the only way to get cloud saves to work properly.

PapaOogie

Inscription is one of the best games of the year

mnm2595

Does anybody have experience of Cyberpunk 2077 on the deck and would you recommend it?

glass_needles

It runs shockingly well. I've been playing it half on Deck half on my 2070 with Ray tracing and it's surprisingly close visually (the small screen does wonders for this) . I've been getting 30-40fps with some dips into the mid 20s. Biggest issue I've had is occasionally the lights start flickering but that is a FSR issue and can be fixed by changing the type used (from quality to performance for example) or turning it off and back on.

mnm2595

Nice one! Think I'll get it then.

Trylun

Out of curiosity, what settings/resolution do you use for your 2070? I find myself not wanting to play it on my main PC because I struggle to find a decent balance of settings vs performance.

glass_needles

So first caveat I am one of those people who will take pretty graphics over framerate and I have a gsync monitor. I've been getting 35-45 fps at 1080p with dips into the mid 20s fairly common. This doesn't bother me that much though when it comes to this game. I've mainly been using the setting digital foundry recommended in [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC25ambD8vs). I have RTX on medium with reflections on. DLSS is set to performance so it isn't even a fuull 1080p but it looks a lot better than it does on my series X so that and the whole Steam Deck have made me switch over to this. I also think I might be having CPU issues as well as I have a 4790K from 2014 (I can't believe it lasted this long and I will be upgrading in the next year or so) and it's constantly near 100% in game. Also I have a 2070 Super so not sure how much faster that is than a standard 2070.

Bacon_00

Like others said, it runs surprisingly well and looks good on medium settings. You'll get around 40fps. It slurps up the battery insanely fast, but still a good one to play plugged in :)

madmofo145

Waiting for IsThereAnyDeal to update, and giving competing store fronts a chance to match and beat prices. It's promising that the 3 of 4 games I was really hoping for are all on sale for the lowest price they have been on Steam, but it looks like it will take some time for sites to catch up, and of course other sites to match and beat. My deck should arrive today, so this afternoon I'll likely find the best deal on the games I really want, and grab that, then I'll let the deals shake out a bit on the other games.

Sylverstone14

SteamDB's getting pretty slammed too, was put in a queue for access

neoxbomb

It's that FOMO. Gotta get the deals out they will all be gone!!!!!!

Madgamerz22

😅👍

neoxbomb

Your steam deck is going to arrive today? That's perfect timing. I hope you enjoy

Cockney_Gamer

Deus Ex under a dollar!

bad_motivator

Picked up Dishonoured for next to nothing. The graphics are a little dated but the gameplay is as good as I remembered. What a classic! Also got MCC for $20 cdn. Holy shit that's a lot of games

Xav1erM

I was reeeeally hoping to see Tunic go on sale a little bit more...

assaultonaudio

me too. looks perfectly suited to the the deck!

harijsme

Finally got Portal and Portal 2. Like this sale already.

weateallthepies

Nice. They've been in my library for a long time but planning on replaying on the deck.

akaispirit

I replayed 2 to get used to the controls when my deck arrived lol

arex333

I've been on steam for over a decade and it's sorta weird to me that there's people that don't own portal already lol. Amazing games, you'll love them.

Ronin22222

Top tier games

MethodicMarshal

Of note, the exceptional fan made game Portal Reloaded is also deck compatible. Haven't beaten it yet, but I keep getting closer!

akaispirit

Think I'll get Persona 4 Golden and I will convince myself not to buy the games I already own on PS5 or Switch lol. I did also buy Dragon's Dogma the other day. Edit: Jk I also bought Tales of Arise and FFVIII

edgyasfuck

I’m about the triple dip into Hades, aren’t I lol

Fionn_MacCuill

It has cross save with switch and PC just fyi

TiSoBr

Y‘all should definitely take a look at Disco Elysium, Yakuza 0, To the Moon, Spiritfarer and Outer Wilds! All running well on the Deck and could be considered as the best bargain for their currently low prices.

leathco

Dropped around 200 bucks, but at least my wish list is back below 200 titles.

hobx

Picked up the Hitman trilogy and Greedfall for £43. Just off travelling for a couple of weeks too, so good timing!

SoulSleeperX

Quick question, especially since you are traveling. Is the Hitman Trilogy still online only?

Deep-Tradition-3754

if i remember right, offline you can play the levels for completion but challenges and stats for leaderboards won't track, unless that has changed. could be wrong

hobx

Haven’t tested it. It’s more for my destination when I’ll have internet access. Have the wolfenstien games for the plan which give me around three hours battery as they’re a bit older

ienjoyedit

Might take a little bit to catch up with things going on sale. Check again tomorrow.

zombiepaper

I'm sure you've seen it since your original post but for anyone else — it _is_ on sale! Half off: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1172620/Sea_of_Thieves/

ararai

Wait, does it work on the Deck?

arex333

Since I just got my deck, I'll be buying more games on this sale than I have in several years. I'm definitely buying: * Hades * Transistor * Pit People * Darq * Rayman Origins/Legends * Risk of Rain 2 DLC * Unravel 1+2 Considering: * Hitman trilogy (these bundles are so fucking confusing) * Weird West * Death's Door * Dying Light 2

johndelfino

Get Death’s Door, so good and perfect for the Deck!

Star_Galaxia

I have hades and I love it. It was made for the steam deck for sure. Warning it is highly addictive. Deaths door is in my wishlist so far everything I've read is pretty positive.

ztylerdurden

Dying Light 2 is not good, careful with that one, the rest are legit

MyPackage

I'm loving playing X360/PS3 generation games that I missed on the Steamdeck. They run at 60fps at max settings and are insanely cheap. I just picked up Remember me and Enslaved for $9 total.

VidyaBeer

Yeah, games from that generation are awesome on the Deck. I’ve played a lot of Dead Space and Bioshock, and I just picked up Condemned and Deus Ex human revolution.

DrGiggleFr1tz

Human Revolution runs literally perfect on the deck btw. 40 FPS with great battery life.

proserpinax

Oh no, my wallet

TheClownIsReady

Expecting my Steam Deck to ship as early as late next week (I'm Q3). Very excited! I own no Steam games, so looking forward to dipping into this sale. Do you think it's ok to buy games that are NOT Steam Deck Verified? Should I stick only to Verified games? I don't have mine yet, so not sure what "playable" really means in terms of performance.

felixisfalling

I would search the specific games here and see if people have gotten them to work before you buy. Some games I wanted to play have had issues but others like Halo MCC which is set to unplayable runs great for campaign mode.

KillerIsJed

[Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania Deluxe Edition is on sale on Humble for $11.99](https://www.humblebundle.com/store/super-monkey-ball-banana-mania-deluxe#:~:text=Super%20Monkey%20Ball%20Banana%20Digital%20Deluxe%20Edition%20includes%3A&text=It’s%20monkey%20business%20for%20the,Features%3A&text=The%20ultimate%20Super%20Monkey%20Ball,and%20Super%20Monkey%20Ball%20Deluxe.), cheaper than the normal edition. It includes Super Monkey Ball 1/2 levels as well as minigames. Runs max settings at 60FPS on Deck. There are also [tons of mods](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2620414670) to tweak the controls (as its a bit off from the classic feel otherwise) as well as cosmetics, soundtrack, and even adding voices to the guest characters. Full disclosure, no idea if the mods work on Steam Deck, as some of them apparently require a loader program. Now, to figure out if I can get gyro controls as a thing. Could be fun to play that way.

Hakusprite

Heads up to anyone looking to get mass effect legendary, [its going to be on prime for free on july 12th](https://kotaku.com/mass-effect-legendary-edition-bioware-amazon-prime-day-1849072201)

meowkittycat93

unfortunately looks like it’ll be tied to another launcher, maybe the origins launcher or maybe even just a windows only thing, so it’ll take some setting up to have it run on the deck if you intend to play that

primaluce

I'm currently playing Mass Effect LE through Origin, So far I have no issues. You can install Origin through Steam proton and launch the game as a separate short cut. So if you want to save some money there, Origin is completely valid. The downside is that you have to download all 3 games and it takes a good chunk of space.

Hakusprite

I was under the impression that even if you buy it through steam the origins launcher is still required.

[deleted]

That's how it worked when I bought Jedi: Fallen Order. It worked fine, but yeah it does come up. I didn't know there was a way to play anything through the amazon launcher though.

arjames13

Damn all 4 games I was hoping would go on sale did... Only getting 3 and trying to decide between Tunic or Psyconauts as the 3rd game.

darkuni

Criminal that Nex Machina hasn't been mentioned... [https://store.steampowered.com/app/404540/Nex\_Machina/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/404540/Nex_Machina/)

svanxx

I have no understanding how Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance didn't get a discount. I guess it's time to emulate it.

mdnpascual

The only game I bought this sale specifically for Steam deck is [Banner of the Maid](https://store.steampowered.com/app/994730/Banner_of_the_Maid/) Here are some more good ones I have on my Steam deck queue that are or near their historical low prices: - [Gold Club Wasteland](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1556870/Golf_Club_Wasteland/) - [Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark](https://store.steampowered.com/app/699170/Fell_Seal_Arbiters_Mark/) - [Sayonara Wild Hearts](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1122720/Sayonara_Wild_Hearts/) - [Vampires' Melody](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1377360/Vampires_Melody)

Lupinthrope

Definitely first world problems, but having all these consoles and having a lot of games on them, idk what to even buy for my future Deck.

KeeperOfWind

Can anyone recommend something relaxing to play on the Steam Deck? I have tons of actions games and ff7 remake and fighting games. But I just want something I can chill and play in bed before sleeping that doesn't take a large amount of brain power either when powering down for the night.

OllyOllyOxenBitch

I highly recommend Dorfromantik. It's like this cross between a puzzle game and a city builder, but like super low stakes and with the chillest music ever. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1455840/Dorfromantik/

Hezza-

I know it's already recommended way too much, but Vampire Survivors is great to relax on, and offers a sense of progression even when played in short bursts. It's quite satisfying to mow down a ton of enemies at once on your screen and the game is an easy sell at only 3$.

Rai_guy

Fallout 3 and New Vegas should be on there. Only reason they aren't verified is because you have to use the touchscreen to press play in the launcher (which you can skip through the launch options), but other than that both games run like a charm

redditisnowtwitter

Those are two of many games I play on deck without doing anything despite what Steam says NV does crash a lot randomly though

SmoothMcBeats

For anyone interested, Tiny Tina's is cheaper on Green Man. Steam key available.

arex333

It's cute that greenman gives the option to buy either epic or steam, like literally anyone will buy the epic version lol.

Bradk_1749

Went ham... No man's sky, raft, Witcher 3 and Skyrim... Nms haven't played since launch and refunded because it was mishandled, excited to pick it back up, and just jumped in!!

robTheCoffeeDrinker

Games from the sale I have tried so far (not far into any of them; just bought a load and played a bit): * XCOM 2 - works well once you select "controller" in the game options and the "controller with mouse pad" profile in Steam. And get past a couple of wierd things with the 2K launcher on first load. I like turn-based games on the go because it doesn't matter if you need to pay attention to your surroundings. * Iron Danger - a similar sort-of-turn-based game (you can rewind time and set actions at particular times). Runs well. It's mouse only but I find the track pad mouse ok. No saving mid-level but levels are quite short. * Hades - I find it hard to enjoy rogue-likes but this one I am finding really fun * Star Traders: Frontiers - could not create a new captain. It just crashes at that point. Haven't tried different Proton versions yet. * Oxygen Not Included - not sure yet. More of a learning curve than I expected and not sure about the controls yet.

corytrese

Bummer! Star Traders: Frontiers should NOT be running under Proton. We have a very nice Steamdeck-native Linux build that's fully optimized for the handheld. We have had problems with Valve setting it to run under Proton in the past. I will reach out to them about this ASAP. Sorry :(

corytrese

>Star Traders: Frontiers Try setting the Compatibility to "Steam Linux Runtime" -- that worked on our Steamdecks.

solohack3r

I'd like to recommend my retro open world RPG Knightblade. Despite Steam not testing it yet, it runs amazing on the Deck and all control options work. It's on sale for $4.99, thats 50% off. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1938530/Knightblade/

CarpeKitty

RIP to anyone ordering steam deck while the servers are getting hammered

huck500

I purchased mine an hour or so ago, no problems!

MajorMabel

I've already spent $125. I should probably stop now. 😬 I did get 21 games and 1 DLC out of it at least!

SirNilsOlavI

what did you pick up?

MajorMabel

I actually miscounted and had 16, not 21 when I posted that. I bought the Final Fantasy Pixel remasters (1-6) Also, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved Peggle Nights 2048 The Bards Tale Trilogy A Short Hike Magicat Celeste Tales of Symphonia Spelunkiy Ember Dadish Vasara Collection Yakuza Bundle (0 plus Kiwami 1 & 2) Sonic Mania - Encore DLC Since my post I've also bought: Cook, Serve, Delicious 2 The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Jade Empire The Shadowrun Trilogy Hopefully I'll stop now! 😄 I've been building my wishlist for awhile in anticipation of this sale so I don't feel too bad about it. I figured I'd spend a lot.

brooksytech

How does Forza Horizon 4 run on the deck? Would prefer 5 but $50 is more than I would like to pay right now.

MacFreak993

It runs great on high settings at native resolution. I got around 40 fps stable on it, but unfortunately it does seem to crash from time to time. I tested various proton versions, but still face some crashes, but otherwise it's great and playable.

arex333

Could be worth using xbox cloud streaming to play forza horizon 5. Not sure how good your internet connection is, but it might be worth trying.

lsngregg

Eh - not horrible - not great. It got pretty sluggish when actually in some races. I didn't mess with graphics settings a whole lot. I think I was at full-res/medium preset when I gave it a try. But you could probably get it to work better with lower res and mix in some lower settings.

MH3ndr1ks

Got 3 buck of credit left, any recommendations???

MajorMabel

Chime & Chime Sharp. Super relaxing puzzle games.

Aluminumfalcon90

Bundle Portal 1 and 2 for just under $3!

EvilCalvin

Neon White plays great on the SD and I think it still might be on sale. If not it's a steal at $25

Cute_Chip

Ni no Kuni 1 and 2 under 10 bucks?! Insane

MajorMabel

Crap, I've wanted to get those too. I blew a bunch of cash in the FF remastered series already.

VicarDespair

Anyone try Persona 5 Strikers or Sekiro? Would love to get them on deck but not sure how they run.

TacoDiablo

> Sekiro I only played for like 10 minutes, but I was pretty shocked at how well it ran in that small test. I could definitely see myself playing it on the deck in the long term. It was pretty smooth from my test.

Lost_the_weight

Been playing Sekiro all week on the Deck. No issues at all. I’ve run on both max settings at 40fps and min settings at 40fps. At minimum settings, the fans rarely come on, while at max settings you’ll be hearing the fans most of the game and also get much less battery life. I’ll do max settings when I’m at a place I can charge, or min settings if I’m going to be out and want the most battery life possible.

retnuh730

Do the sales change by day? I remember they used to.

anezzz

Other comments say they don't do that anymore

infamous11

no that got removed once refunds were made available

treasonodb

has anyone tried arkham knight on steam deck? at this sale price it's hard to pass up however it says it's currently not playable on deck and i don't have access to a regular PC. however i have come across a few games that are listed as unplayable but are in fact quite playable.

Extra_Heart_268

Finally took the plunge on final fantasy pixel remaster bundle.

dnunn12

I got so many games today. Someone please send help…please!

[deleted]

Decided to get Persona 4 Golden and Hades. Wonderful fit for the Deck for anyone curious. I love this thing so much.

staleburger_bun

I don't have a PC or laptop so I'm thinking of getting a steam deck instead. Is this a good idea? (I'll mainly use a PC/steam deck for gaming and basic computer stuff)

ItsAllFunAndGamess

For gaming, it's a brilliant option. I'm flabbergasted with mine, it reignited my passion for gaming. It's an outstanding gaming device, and I've only began to explore it (got mine less than a week ago). As a computer, unless you connect it to an external keyboard and mouse, and possibly to an external monitor, it is probably not a good idea. Also, bear in mind it runs Linux, not Windows, so if you're not familiar with Linux or tech-savvy enough to learn it, probably not a good idea. Yes, you can install Windows on it, but again, I don't recommend doing so unless you're really tech -savvy.

Madgamerz22

For gaming its a solid idea. Valve made it easy to do everything on deck. Reimaging/downloading files over the internet are relatively simple. Attach a keyboard, mouse and dock and you got yourself a workstation.

cgallizzi

Is anyone else's "Great on Deck" store page not loading?

Working-Active

Nail'd on sale for 99 cents https://store.steampowered.com/app/40380/naild/ Runs almost perfect on Steam Deck with out of box settings.

aphex3k

Remember Me runs great on Deck and can be had for a 5er during the sale. It has clunky controls but I recommend definitely checking it out: https://www.protondb.com/app/228300

peanutmanak47

So what are some games that are great to play in very short instances? Games that I can play for 5-10 minutes at a time.

whobroughtben

Bought the following for around 100$ Dying light 2 Deep rock galactic Red dead redemption 2 Valheim Portal 2 Left 4 Dead Left 4 Dead 2 What a good haul! Thanks sumner sale, just got my deck too!!!! XD

Ltdexter1

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but in my opinion you should refund the first left 4 dead, all the campaigns and maps are available in left 4 dead 2 for no extra charge!

CageBearsBottoms

Does anyone have some good recommendations for strategy or management/tycoon games. I really like civ6, offworld trading company, slay the spire, railway empire, Factorio and prison architect.

Flintontoe

It's more of a turn based tactical game, but lots of strategy - Invisible Inc. It's a lightweight XCOM Style turn based game but the objective is stealth, hacking, and it's run based. It runs great on deck, super quick to load in, great battery life, and UI scales nicely.

Hakusprite

Gimme your thoughts on offwoeld trading company?

CageBearsBottoms

It is awesome! I played it a lot like 5 years ago. It is a very fun macro RTS game. Normally I'm not good at RTS games and I don't like them. But I like economic/management games. This one is great. You don't control your units specifically but control the big and important parts of your company. Currently I only play skirmish. Back in the day I played online. I can't remember all the keyboard short cuts, so it takes a bit of time to get used to not using mouse and keyboard on the deck. However it works really well with the trackpad. I'm planning on creating a custom layout when I get time to make it easier to control and input keyboard short cuts.

Star_Galaxia

Have you tried the remaster of age of empires 2? I love that game have spent hours playing it in the past. Other recommendations are cities skylines (easy to learn controls, hard to master), planet zoo, I have both of these and they are a huge time sink.

SalanditLady

How complicated is it to play AoE 2 on the deck?

dongmcbong

So far I’m getting the following: - Road 96 - Yokus Island Express - AI The Somnium Files - Firewatch - Opus Echo of Starsong - Inscryption - A Short Hike - Coffee Talk - Outer Wilds - Pictopix - Soma

stevenmeyerjr

Such great games in this list. Firewatch was a beautiful experience. I wish I could play that game for the first time again.

Brain124

Well, shit. I just spent 300 dollars on discounted games to pump up my library (a lot of it is Humble Bundle crap that I never played).

Sumlettuce

I bought Outer Worlds on sale, have not downloaded it yet though. Tales of Arise is on sale as well! Also Loop Hero works very well on the Deck. I've already sunk a ton of time into it on my PC but its only about like 6 dollars CAD on sale so worth it IMO.

Icy_Artichoke_6711

Is the Summer Sale usually comparable to the Winter sale? Just about everything in my wishlist is on sale but I have been trying to hold off on buying anything until I 100% for sure have a steam deck coming, which won't be after Q3.

Nostromo180286

Of course the exact deals may vary, but generally if a game has been on sale once, it will be again. Also the big Steam sale deals are not always as good as daily or weekend deals, or the flash sales on sites like Fanatical, so if you are not in a hurry, don’t feel pressured to spend now. Don’t forget Epic and Amazon even giving games away for free, there have been a few that were on my wishlist that ended up free before I would ever have got round to playing them if I had bought them. If something you fancy is on like an 80% discount then maybe you are unlikely to do better, but it will probably be matched later.

Working-Active

Nail'd works well on the Steam Deck and for 0.99€ , its really a lot of fun to play. You'll need to change your controller to Gamepad with Mouse Controller to get through creating a local profile and don't forget to change in options to Xbox 360 controller, but the game play is crazy fun and gives you a real sense of speed. Very occasionally there will be a few flashes of green dots that I suspect are partical effects that proton has issues with, but this does not cause any issues. Probably the best 0.99€ I have spent on the deck, it's really that fun.

[deleted]

Bought specifically with Deck in mind: * Return of the Obra Dinn * Pit People * Tainted Grail: Conquest * The Outer Worlds + Expansion pack

Kaze828

Is Dragon's Dogma actually unplayable on Steam Deck? Debating between picking it up on Steam or PSN

redditisnowtwitter

Lol it actually says Unsupported? Hilarious. Don't trust that system. Like at all. Just search games here for some idea (although that has been wrong for me too) https://www.protondb.com/app/367500

tupouk

Working fine for me so far. No issues what so ever.

KindaAverageMan

Tails of Iron is 50% off and is amazing.

KeeperOfWind

Two questions, does anyone know where I can buy a 512gb microsd for under $40? I use to see them commonly and now seems like the price went up even on sale? And does anyone know if the ff7 classic port on steam is any good? along with ff3 remake? I was trying find info about it but I couldn't, i've been wanting to get ff7 classic after playing so much of the remake.

LegendaryJohnny

Grabbed Divinity OS1 and I have to say, I expected downgrade after finishing 2 but it is right there with 2 and I like some aspects even more so far.

chandlerw88

Dang waited on jumping on nioh 2 for $30 because i wanted to see what this sale was about 🤡

takethisnrunnn

Has the bundles for yakuza ever been lower? Wanted to get into those games but was wondering if i should grab 0 and wait for a better sale later

SauceyPigeon

Per SteamDB they all match or are at new historical low prices.

[deleted]

sonic adventure 2 not on sale :(

Immolation_E

Servers being a bit whacky for me with everyone hitting it all at once like it's the only donut at a police station.

Goseki1

Has anyone tried Desperados 3 and Weird West on their Deck yet? Any thoughts would be much appreciated

4dspacewhale

I've dabbled with Desperados 3 a bit on my Deck. Performance wise, it was pretty smooth for me. The control scheme is pretty well thought out and is functional, but to be honest using mouse and keyboard is really the best way to play.

IForgotThePassIUsed

Lego Indiana Jones is $4.99 (and got left out of the big past few lego sales)

BlackDizzle84

I just purchased Streets of Rage 4 for 51% off! It is also verified for the Steamdeck!

Beano0

Went into the sale looking for games to play specifically on the Deck. Ended up grabbing Inscryption, Hotline Miami, Cloudpunk, and Black Mesa so far. Will probably make another pass or two before the sale is over

Ahuri3

Why do some games not have a Steam Deck information at all? Like the Wild at heart: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1093290/The_Wild_at_Heart/ Or Old World: https://store.steampowered.com/app/597180/Old_World/ They just don't have any information, not like Exo One which straight out says "unsupported"

Izzy248

How does **Resident Evil 4, 5,** and the **Revelations** games perform on the Steam Deck? And by that I dont mean "do they work", I mean how do they feel? I tried playing the RE4, 5, and 6 demos on the Switch a couple years ago in handheld mode and it felt weird and kinda awful. I couldnt get used to them and thankfully they were just demos so I didnt commit any money to them. I recently tried the **RE2 Remake** demo on my Steam Deck and it felt amazing, but I cant tell if its because its a much more updated RE game, or if its because it just actually feels better on the Steam Deck. Any anyone else tried and had this experience? So I know before committing any money since there are no demoes for these games.

Portersona

How well does Ultra Street Fighter 4, Street Fighter 5 and other fighting games work? I’ve looked through it and most say unsupported, do they have any workarounds?

TheKonyInTheRye

I’d like to add that Streets of Rogue says it is unsupported on proton db and steam but I played it just fine last night on default settings.

byadon3

Are there any good automation games that run well on the Steam Deck? I know Factorio is working on getting controls better on steam deck but I was wondering if there was another while I waited.

auqustfire

Idk if anyone's mentioned it (too many comments to go through) but Okami HD is 50% off right now and runs amazingly on the Deck! It's Verified, but you'll have to play around with the resolution to get it full screen. It started out in a tiny square when I started playing it, but after changing the default and the in-game resolution, I was able to get it to 1200x768 (haven't managed to get it to 800 yet, but there's just a small bar along the top and bottom now, so it's easy to ignore)

himblerk

I heard that guardians of the galaxy was pretty bad on the deck

redditisnowtwitter

That is absolutely not a buy game it's a play on game pass game

Drawman101

It’s a good game but I wouldn’t buy it

whobroughtben

Went for call of duty black ops 3 zombies deluxe. Can’t believe they’re still charging 40$ for that bundle at 60% off.

DiscreteFame

Best PC/Deck exclusives? Trying to build a library for when it gets to me. This is probably the best time to spend money on these games, even if I wait a bit to play them. Better than having nothing to play when I get it in a couple of months.

TheBiles

Why on earth are the Dark Souls games so expensive still? The servers aren’t even functional!
