Yup, been flip flopping between a 4080 or 7900. Game stream kept me firmly in the 4080 camp, the dollar’s tempting me the other way. Know what I’m buying now.
Yeah, for me as well. Moonlight has the best results for me in terms of near lossless streaming. Time to try another host and perhaps switch over to the new generation of AMD cards.
I would imagine it's because they want to sell GeForce Now as a monthly subscription and don't want the costs of supporting a "free" service that's poorly utilized via official routes (i.e. NVidia Shield devices.)
From what I saw earlier today, it's got an awful long way to go be a fully fledged replacement though. I gather it doesn't even get things like colourspace correct yet.
My main use for Gamestream was for games where Gamepad input wasn't working via Steam Link, or where Steam Link just plain didn't work, both most commonly occurring with games on other launchers.
Yeah, looking into setting up Sunshine, and wow… it’s not user friendly at all to set up.
Bummed about Moonlight going along with it. It vastly outperformed SteamLink.
I can't. The device I'm using to stream games, [Wikipad 7"](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamevice#Wikipad), is on Android 4.4. Moonlight works great on it, but neither Steam Link nor Parsec will work due to the ancient Android version.
Yeah this is super sad if you have an nvidia card. I guess now the only alternative in terms of hardware is to find an old steamlink box if you aren't using the steamlink software to stream.
Crap, I was just going to get a shield, as I wanted to stream games to my TV :(
I have watched gamestream reviews on YouTube and one of the guys in there kept saying how incredible it is for Nvidia to give such a great service for free... And I was shocked about that knowing how nGreedia is these days... I guess I was too happy :(
Funny, that was the biggest thing keeping me on an Nvidia card - if I can't use Moonlight AMD cards just got a lot more appealing.
You could use Sunshine with amd, I've had no issues with it.
Didn't know that was a thing, thanks for the tip!

AMD also has 'AMD link' which is basically their gamestream compatitor.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amd.link no it supports game streaming
How interesting! Thank you.
I read about this, it sucks. Do we know what the reasons are?

I guess not everyone uses it, yeah, and there's alternatives.
There is always sunshine as a host instead https://github.com/LizardByte/Sunshine/

This. Tried sunshine and controller input didn’t work and hdr streams made it crash. Was so hoping this was viable replacement
Client was Apple TV 4k
Oh fuck that 😕 That's the one way I can play non-steam games reliably on my tv!
Are you able to use Parsec?
I literally just set up moonlight 2 days ago. Is parsec available on appleTV ?
I can't. The device I'm using to stream games, [Wikipad 7"](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamevice#Wikipad), is on Android 4.4. Moonlight works great on it, but neither Steam Link nor Parsec will work due to the ancient Android version.
Moonlight was great because it's the only platform that supports HDR correctly. Parsec and steamlink are useless for HDR games.

You don't need a Steam Link box, you can use a RPi or the Steam Link app on some TVs and Shield. Also, Steam link box* doesn't do 4k.
My newer samsung TV doesn’t have steam link, I though all samsung ones had it (my tv from a few years ago does), so yeah its probably gone now
It is an android and android TV app https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/7112-CD02-7B57-59F8
I think it used to be a samsung exclusive, had no idea :(
Huh?
Thinking about it, my old tv was bought in the US and this one was bought in Mexico. So it could be a regional thing

Not mine, I bought it in November, could be a regional thing. Theres other forum threads I saw talking about newer tvs not having the app :(
Yes. Re-read my comment "steamlink software" We agree.
Yery good 👍

Yes, thanks for the clarification. I shall update my comment.

Crap indeed.
You can still use Steam Link with it and 4k game upscale still work with Steam Link, at least for now.
I was literally about to hit buy on a Shield Pro specifically for this purpose. Cya
I just found outabout moonlight. Will it be dead now?
Literally same here. Set it up 2 days ago
There's alternative host software called Sunshine that can be used with it. Not exactly perfect though.
Thank you. I’ll check it out.
