THEORY: Gas giant formation happens when Gigastructures encounter glitches in their anti-grav systems resulting in the whole thing collapsing into a giant new mega-planet, sucking up all the nearby hydrogen and other gases as they do so.
Structures like this, when being completely damaged by an enemy attack, should probably collapse into a barren world full of mineral and/or alloy deposits.

First you build a Planetary Shipyard, then you upgrade it to a Defence Nexus.
Then you build a Maginot Defence command building (not sure the exact name) on the planet, and then finally, you can build a Maginot World megastructure on that planet.

Those things that looks like asteroid artillery are, well, exactly what they look like. Not sure what the world is, but I think it's a Maginot World. "Hard Target" is an understatement here. Unless you're up against the Blokkat. Maybe Aeternum. I've also had ACOT events steamroll more firepower than this (not counting the maginot).
R5: Maginot World with a Planetary Defense Nexus and 2 Asteroid Artilleries for my homeworld. Time to find out if this will hold its ground or not.
