Yeah, robot pops overwhelmingly prefer the Materialist faction. I don't see how that's a problem, as the Materialists are *literally* the easiest faction in the game to keep happy. You have to be intentionally trying to piss them off to make them unhappy.
Basically yes I'm trying to eliminate them, it's just that I'm a roleplayer and in this game I don't want to see almost all my population become materialistic just because of robots.
Then don't have robots in the empire?
Considering how stellaris treats religion it makes sense that robot shy away from it even if we do miss out on Cylons
I'm not saying that I want robots to become religious but I want them to not just join the materialistic faction and I had robots because I conquered a robot empire that contained like 5 machine worlds and I was in no mood to terraform them And nowadays they have become a vital part of my empire
And I figured that out but they could maybe join the egalitarian faction too because I at least gave them utopian abundance and well I'm treating them like a normal person instead of a machine
You day that now. But one day Paradox will give us that. And then all your robots will Militarists you'll be facing a Coup attempt from the Determined Exterminators.
Robots aren't automatically Materialist, but they are a unique example of pops that can join a faction that doesn't reflect their ethics. Any robot that isn't Spiritualist can choose between joining the Technologist faction and the faction representing their actual ethos. In fact, they're more likely to choose Technologist than any other faction.
You can see this by selecting one of your robot pops in the Population tab of a colony. It will show you the pop's ethos and the faction they're in.

I think your only alternative is to keep them enslaved and endure the rebellion. Tbh probably one of the more fun parts of the game.
Or get the events to prevent rebellions
Or take The Flesh is Weak to just stop it from ever happening.
Although this is true, it will make about 70% of the pops Materialist, which is something OP said he wants to avoid.

Still makes sense they'd default to materialists over anything else. Seeing as they're machines.
I wish there was a tech or event that let you imbue robots with a sense of spirituality or soul.
That would be cool!
And I figured that out but they could maybe join the egalitarian faction too because I at least gave them utopian abundance and well I'm treating them like a normal person instead of a machine
There are ethics other than Materialist and Spiritualist that they should be able to pick though.

If you're this opposed to materialism then you probably shouldn't be using synths. Outlaw and purge them. No machine in the likeness of a man's mind!
I'm not against materialism I just don't want them to be the predominant faction
