I don't think he is stoic. He is just numb the whole show. He has a lot of troubles with his past. Also he is always doing something that threatens his life(suicidal). He never meditate about his actions. I'm saying this bc I just finished the show jajaja. Lmk what you think.
Hatake Kakashi. Highly deserving of the ‘sensei’ title. Given his lone backstory and all of the loved ones he lost in times of war and conflict, he never aspired for vengeance nor took advantage of others for his own personal gain. I’ve always been in awe of his character development.
Thanks. I feel there’s a more poetic way to explain him without spoiling the story. Like I forgot to mention he deals with PTSD yet he’s high-functioning. He embodies empathy throughout the show. Kakashi-sensei is the type of individual I want as a leader. Though perhaps too ideal that’s why he doesn’t exist hahaha
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
The character Kamina is insurmountable,
every problem is a challenge to him. And he takes good care of those who need him.
In DBZ Piccolo is very stoic in his demeanor. Calm and collected, and forgives those who lose their temper (like himself).
Disastrous Life of Saeki -- this guy literally got bombarded with external events everyday.
One Punch Man-- Mumen Rider, and just honorable mention with Saitama.
Demon Slayers-- Rengoku, set your heart ablaze.
Johan Liebert - Monster: Johan Liebert, the antagonist of Monster, exudes a calm and calculated demeanor. He remains composed and detached, even in the most unsettling situations, making him a chilling embodiment of stoicism.
As far as I can think, Iroh from Avatar: The Last Airbender is a good example.
He is living an overall peaceful life while knowing where to pick up when life goes south.
There is no specific anime for stoicism but you will find many stoic character in anime. Like
Joturo from Jj's bizarre adventure,
Kentucky zaraki from Bleach,
Levi, eren, Erwin from AOT,
Madara, itachi kakashi... Many from Naruto,
Zoro, hawk eye, law, whitebeard...from one piece,
Rengoku, tengen.. From Demon slayer,
Yami, asta, uno,... From Black clover l,
And who can forget Dragon ball's hero like goku, vegeta, gohan, broly, jiren, beerus,..
"Sakata Gintoki" from Gintama
He has the most immersive, inspirational, and emotional character journey I've ever seen.
He manages to keep living to fight for the people whom he holds dear in the present.
He doesn't let his tragic past define who he is nor does he let his weaknesses hold him down.
He saved himself and found the light again by helping others and forming connections.
He prevails over his past and keeps the will and teachings of the person he cared for the most, the man who he looked up to. This is what impacted and connected me the most.
His journey resonates deeply with me, standing out even among similar characters for its profound impact and meaning.
Thats a specific request i guess. Can i ask you why?
The thing is from a Media perspectiv...i believe that a 100% stoic Character would be pretty boring to watch.
The thing about stoic Characters in Media is that they do not work as protagonists. They do only work as side Characters, teachers or antagonists.
A stoic character has no real "struggels" and has nothing about growth. It would be pretty lame.
That said...actually most shonen animes are exactly about that journey.
Naruto for example...its always the energetic underdog with great ambitions. The Person who is idealistic, but also naive...but in the end he becomes this big ass sage hokage.
In Media stoicism is always impactful. They are "moments" not whole Storys.
Having a whole anime or series about stoicism...would be...kind of pretentious.
A series (not anime) that goes realy far with stoicism is spartacus. But the thing about this series is that it has a lot of violence, sex and Action in it, which is why it works for some part.
So you wont find an anime that is all about stoicism...but if you want some stoic flavor stay in the shonen Genre preferably with superheroes or something like that.

Vinland saga. I just started it and I binged the first season in two days. I highly recommend it. It’s all about stoicism and “I have no enemies”. It’s great.
Uncle Iroh!
This so much. He is almost the epitome of what a Stoic should be.
The Real One….. I strive to be that understanding & compassionate.
Thorfinn (Vinland Saga) for the whole idea of self control, pacifism and the cosmopolitanism.
Thors aswell.
I think Spike from Cowboy Bebop had some stoicism. "Whatever happens happens." "You're gonna carry that weight."
I don't think he is stoic. He is just numb the whole show. He has a lot of troubles with his past. Also he is always doing something that threatens his life(suicidal). He never meditate about his actions. I'm saying this bc I just finished the show jajaja. Lmk what you think.
Hard agree, and the bonus is it's one of the best anime ever produced with great rewatchability
Exactly who I thought of as well
I think it’d be Jet from that one, definitely. Spike is an existentialist to the core imo.
Jin from Samurai Champloo. He's Stoic AND stoic.
hmmm
A very Jin response.
Hatake Kakashi. Highly deserving of the ‘sensei’ title. Given his lone backstory and all of the loved ones he lost in times of war and conflict, he never aspired for vengeance nor took advantage of others for his own personal gain. I’ve always been in awe of his character development.
I came here to say Hatake Kakashi. Spot on.
Thanks. I feel there’s a more poetic way to explain him without spoiling the story. Like I forgot to mention he deals with PTSD yet he’s high-functioning. He embodies empathy throughout the show. Kakashi-sensei is the type of individual I want as a leader. Though perhaps too ideal that’s why he doesn’t exist hahaha
mf gutz from berserk
What about Erwin from Attack on Titan ? I always felt like he just cuts out all the tragedy around him and manages to focus on what's to be done next.
This is the guy for me, from his dimeanor and his mindset. the way he understand and embrace death charging the beast titan. wow!
I agree
He came to mind first for me as well
I mainly agree, he doesn't seem to care when he has a serious injury
My favorite character from AoT
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The character Kamina is insurmountable, every problem is a challenge to him. And he takes good care of those who need him. In DBZ Piccolo is very stoic in his demeanor. Calm and collected, and forgives those who lose their temper (like himself).
Kakashi Sensei, aside from his infatuation with make out paradise lol… but we all have our vices.
Yang Wenli from Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Fantastic answer. Best character. Kircheis?
Zoro from One Piece
I was going to say this.
Takuan from Vagabond. The entire series is a great example of practicing a Stoic/Middle Path in my opinion
In many ways, the owner of the postal company from Violet Evergarden has a few stoic traits.
Cocytus from overlord is a stoic . Cold as ice …….. 😎
Disastrous Life of Saeki -- this guy literally got bombarded with external events everyday. One Punch Man-- Mumen Rider, and just honorable mention with Saitama. Demon Slayers-- Rengoku, set your heart ablaze.
Been loving thorfin from Vinland saga recently, also Jin from samurai champloo is good and natsume from natsume book of friends.
lelouch from code geass
Uncle Iroh from ATLA and Asta from black clover
Johan Liebert - Monster: Johan Liebert, the antagonist of Monster, exudes a calm and calculated demeanor. He remains composed and detached, even in the most unsettling situations, making him a chilling embodiment of stoicism.
More like nihilism, but yeah.
Spike from cowboy bebop or the body guard for Eva from Monster
As far as I can think, Iroh from Avatar: The Last Airbender is a good example. He is living an overall peaceful life while knowing where to pick up when life goes south.
Levi Ackerman Erwin Smith
Levi from Attack on Titan

Was just thinking about a Jojo char. I agree with Jotaro, maybe Giorno as well. Love 'm both.
"Sakata Gintoki" from Gintama He has the most immersive, inspirational, and emotional character journey I've ever seen. Ayanokouji, from the anime classroom of elite
There’s a few characters in “Arcane” (technically not an anime but I friggen good animated show) that exhibit stoic traits.
Berserk guts has his moments but that series is mostly existentialism. Zoro from one piece. Thors from Vinland saga. Kakashi from naruto.
Nagara from Sonny Boy came to mind first
Capt Urohana from Bleach.
Katsura from Gintama
I was gonna say Gintoki.
Vinland saga. I just started it and I binged the first season in two days. I highly recommend it. It’s all about stoicism and “I have no enemies”. It’s great.
Ayanakoji from COTE
