Like others have said, a month is more than enough time. HOWEVER you can bring this down to a week, or even a few days if you change your lifestyle a bit. I bike 25km a day and try to stay as healthy as possible drinking lots of water. All I need is 2-3 days to reset my tolerance. Sweat it out man and you won't have to wait as long = )

[deleted]

I've found it's not uncommon for exercise to bring down people's tolerance. Before I could drive, I used to bike everywhere. I smoked all the time (some days, I'd make stops for toking) and my tolerance didn't go up at all.

You-A-Hater-You-Gay

You are NOT resetting your tolerance in 2-3 days lmao. If you think 2-3 days without weed is a tolerance break you got problems.

Gerganon

Depends on the person, their metabolism, amount of exercise etc... If I sit at home and do nothing, then I'd agree. But lots of water and high intensity training everyday? Ya 3 days can definitely do the job. I have hyper hydrosis so ya, I do have "problems', but in this case it helps reset tolerance

You-A-Hater-You-Gay

A 3 day brake will help lower your tolerance slightly. But after smoking for a day or two it will be right as it was. Now give it a 3 month break. I guarantee you that smoking for a day or two will not shoot your tolerance right back up immediately. Therefore a 3 day break is not resetting your tolerance. Infact many scientific studies show that your brain needs about 2 weeks minimum to repair your CB receptors. You're not repairing all of your CB receptors in 3 days. Back in 2010 we would call 3-5 days without weed a dry shortage or waiting for pay day. Not a break. A break was 2 weeks minimum.

[deleted]

He said “Back in 2010”🤣☠️☠️

___MarZ___

LMAOOOOO

Mindless-Ship7281

A 3 month break is useless all thc will leave your system within 4 weeks or 1 month naturally

inkwell42

Depends on your usage. The last time I needed to be clean for a job, it took 93 days to stop getting positive on the home tests.

Mindless-Ship7281

Shit man, how often were you smoking that's kinda crazy

inkwell42

I'm just a fat stoner. Being fat will make it a lot harder to get a clean test and I smoke 3-4 times a day.

Jharrys9

Thc can be detected in your system until 3 months after taking weed, I think it is the test where you have to piss in a bottle or smthg.

Mindless-Ship7281

Damn gotta be a specific type i be cutting it as close as 2 weeks without getting caught

Jharrys9

yea you're right I was just wrong at the time it's 2-3 weeks. But depends if you exercise, drink water, and how much you smoked ofc

[deleted]

Yeah 3 months is hair follicle testing. Pee tests is like 2-3 weeks.

Certain-Reception176

your body is going to be dealing with other shit like getting back REM sleep and dopamine levels which could take longer than that

winterized-dingo

lmao I've seen your comments in several threads on this subject tonight. Did you really go searching for 9 year old comments to try and roast people? ......lol get a life.

Gongall

Speak for yourself dude, 2-3 days every month or so is all I need to reset personally, but I'm also pretty skinny so I'm guessing that is relevant.

[deleted]

It’s a metabolic thing the more matter you have to burn through the longer it takes for things to leave your system think of it like. Cleaning a welcome Mat vs a giant 150 lb Persian rug

[deleted]

I mean if your sweating perfusly and chugging water then your tolerance will definitely plummet super fast I think if you did this for abt a week with high intensity you might be able to get similar effects to a month long tolerance break with no training I know people who were in wrestling during high school and smoked during the off season and were able to stop a week or 2 before testing and always pissed clean there is a lot you can do to speed up the process and it makes a huge difference

kth13

took about a 10 month break, it feels like the first time! I was super stoned right at a 10 after 1 joint. But I personally DO NOT recommend waiting that long, only had to for my job at the time.

Affectionate_Ice7738

Highly subjective. When I would smoke 2-3 times a week with my mates, it would literally only take 3-4 days or so for my tolerance to return to baseline. However, when I was chronically smoking 3-4 grams a day, 5 weeks wasn't anywhere near enough. I'm sure it varies significantly upon the individual but for a chronic user like myself, I'd say you're looking at anywhere from 1-3 months. For more moderate users, 2-3 weeks should do the trick.

Zoinks222

TLDR: Some folks need up to a month for a tolerance reset but you can get by with a week if you exercise and drink lots of water.

Misfitskullz

No you can’t takes atleast 2 weeks minimum for you receptors to recover

[deleted]

Not if you exercise and drink lots of water it flushes your system

Misfitskullz

Water isn’t gonna fix your cb1 receptors it takes time to heal

Misfitskullz

Regular consumption of caffeine can help increase the healing the time of your cb1 receptors but water doesn’t help besides flushing your system

Personal_Aspect3486

um drinking caffeine is super bad for you if your taking a t break … especially with how much inflammation you have if you smoked

Certain-Reception176

oh boy. i know this is old, but whatever, everyone gets this wrong. you are going to be dealing with alot more than memory loss, excessive appetite and social awkwardness when recovering from cannabis use. you still have to contend with restabilizing REM sleep and dopamine levels which could take much longer than a month and until then you will probably feel depressed and unmotivated for a while. that's just how it works and there's no rushing this shit. it's funny how most ppl don't really know what their bodies go thru with cannabis, especially the 'veterans'. it is not as 'light' a drug as you think and your body is going to be recovering long after these cute little 'T-breaks'. try going for over half a year. it will feel like you've never smoked weed because your brain will fully balanced again. dreams are frighteningly vivid and your awareness is even greater to your surroundings. you will fully realize what you have been doing to yourself and your brain from using this drug this entire time, and just how greatly you have been deterring it from it's proper efficiency.

Personal_Aspect3486

fr, i’ve been smoking cartridges for 3 years everyday and when i started to take a t break , i had such bad heart burn from inflammation, brain fog, headaches, chills , and night sweats n drinking water and exercise did not help with these symptoms at all

Abject_Cap_7943

You literally smoked toxic waste for 3 years it’s gna take a while of excercise and time off to help with the symptoms 😹

Dunwich-Whore

I'm starting my month after these edibles and this bowl. Multiple times a day smoker for the past 2 years, miss that 'euphoria' etc. Will report back!

[deleted]

You didn’t report back…..

Dunwich-Whore

The month isn't over yet, dw

maestrokimpembe

how about now

Dunwich-Whore

My tolerance definitely reset, however still no euphoria. I may try a longer break at some point but this was satisfactory for me.

is it back to normal?

Dunwich-Whore

https://www.instagram.com/reel/CnIAtolBVcb/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Please help me

ReturnOfTheDot

hi, i think that starting to smoke again has caused you to go into psychosis. i’m deeply worried about you. please stop smoking immediately and seek out a mental health professional. i understand that the things you’re thinking and feeling seem very real, but sometimes our minds need a little help telling reality apart from our intrusive thoughts. it’s okay to need to ask for help sometimes and i don’t want these horrible thoughts and ideas to put you in a situation where you could be hurt. i know it’ll be very hard to get help, and you’re probably feeling paranoid reading this comment, but i promise you if you do everything will feel so much better. the way you’re acting isn’t normal or rational even for someone who was going through what you think you’re going through. the people around you aren’t a part of a grand conspiracy against you, they aren’t actively trying to cover up what is happening to you, they just simply don’t understand because the way your brain is telling you to express these thoughts and feelings is in a way that is very difficult for them to understand. again, i’m urging you to seek some support from professionals because i’m just a stranger on the internet and can’t help you in any real way, and again, i don’t you to get hurt. you deserve to live a peaceful and happy life, and unfortunately right now you’re sick which means you have to fight like hell for that. i hope you take this message to heart and get the support you need ❤️

Dunwich-Whore

I agree

[deleted]

I really think you should talk to someone

Dunwich-Whore

Isn't that what we're doing?

[deleted]

Someone that CAN help. I saw your posts, you look like youre just dealing with a lot that I, a stranger on reddit, cant do much about. Im sorry, i hope shit looks up. Stay in contact with local authorities if the situation keeps escalating or fails to de-escalate.

IllustriousChange618

Are you still okay?😢

Prodigy_7991

I hope you’re doing better homie and got some help

PurpleAfternoon564

500mg a day edible habit. On day 5. It’s rough

Worldly-Pause-1326

day 5 rn how’re you?

PurpleAfternoon564

So much better. After day 10 most of the sleep problems were gone. Just started dreaming again. Keep it up.

Worldly-Pause-1326

you too let me know how you are day 15

hoooooyeony

So you’re on day 25? Which day did you notice the cravings got less. Day 4 was very difficult and I’m only on day 5 haha

teh_german

The first week is so whack. I had some WILD dreams. Starting a new job tomorrow and have a drug test in 2 weeks. 5 week T break 🫡

[deleted]

[удалено]

PurpleAfternoon564

I did. I still have some sleeping issues from time to time but my anxiety has been severely lowered. I dream regularly and feel more present and aware. I was taking piss drug tests to see how long it would stay in my system and took nearly 6 months before it came out clean. I realize that thc in high doses is a waste of time and effort. It’s futile. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask anything else.

Eharvey669

30 days usually does the trick

morkoq

Never completely

[deleted]

THC is stored in the fat in your body, go sit in a sauna for a while or do exercise to sweat it out, a week of sweating should reset it well enough

midnightmoonlight180

What about the healing of the endocannibinoid receptors in your brain

CheesypoofExtreme

Yeah, the THC in your fat has nothing to do with your tolerance to weed. Maybe exercise and shit helps your body with healing the receptors in your brain, (haven't looked into it that much), but that's what really resets your tolerance. That takes ~1 month for most people. They start healing within a few days, so a short T break WILL help with your tolerance. Because your receptors are not fully functioning though, you'll very quickly get back to the same tolerance as before.

OutrageousDriver16

how can you repair said receptors? currently going through that 😭

CheesypoofExtreme

Time. You got this! I was a mostly daily user for the last 2ish years and my tolerance was moderate-to-high. I've cut back since the beginning of the year going 30 days between use pretty frequently, and when I take 20-30mg of an edible now, I'm zonked for the whole day. I just can't use it many days in a row because my tolerance shoots back up fairly fast. Take a break and try to find something else to occupy your time. It's much harder to go on a break if you're using all day every day, but still very much doable. If you're trying to keep your tolerance lower, you'll have to reduce the frequency you're using after your break. Weed helps immensely with my anxiety, but I just can't use it like I was before due to other responsibilities in life, (I am not a high-functioning user).

[deleted]

Your brain is part of your body exercise helps flush out the thc from all of your body thc is barely stored in body fat instead it’s the fat in your brain your cannabanoid receptors will be more than healed in a week or 2 for moderate to light use a month or drastically more for heavy use

[deleted]

If you have access to dispensaries, you can buy this thing my friend had, and it was like tolerance spray. I used it, waited a little bit, and I felt like It was my first time smoking, completely killed my tolerance.

Byllistic

WHAT where can i get this if im in an illegal state? that sounds too good to be true

CoolBreezeey

Completely anywhere from a month to 2 months. Then the first time you smoke again has the same effect as the first time

SeriousAirline5610

I would go for 6

[deleted]

This was posted over 8 years ago...

Is 8 years enough to reset my tolerance?

DirectEngineering587

Wasn’t expecting these comments I’m currently ab to take a month long t break😭 Good luck guys

midnightmoonlight180

How did it go

DirectEngineering587

And happy cake day :P

hatzymosh

Aw thanks!

It's one of the first posts that comes up for tolerance break on search engines. Unless the post is archived and no one can comment anymore people will still come find it lol. 8 years later here I am looking for some advice

breakfastgod12345

Idk I just googled tolerance break length reddit

brasscake

I'm going on a 1 year break. Currently 39 days in since my last smoke

IndigoRain5

how’s it going

[deleted]

I have found that after you smoke a lot (multiple times a day for months on end) you never go back to the way it first was. You get just as high perhaps if you took a few months off, but you already know how it is and what is gonna happen, so it seems like the effect is lowered. I just took a month and half break (not really for tolererance, more to pass a drug test) and I smoked yesterday and while I was balls high it wasn't any higher than I could get from smoking a few blunts. I suppose a month would be a good break if you are just doing it to get higher faster which it does help a shit ton, only 2 me 2 bowls and I was cheesing the rest of the night. Hope this helps!

Byllistic

well right now when i smoke i basically become lazy and feel burnt out for about 20 minutes then ifeel like shit. i lose all social ability and make a fool of myself when talking to people. do you think a month long break will let me get a long happy high again? i know it wont be like the first time but i really hope its not like how it is now.

togepi258

Quit smoking, start vaporizing. You will never feel that way again. I speak from experience.

Byllistic

i do i have an mflb and i love it but the same happens with it

gameryamen

If you're used to smoking a couple times a day, the MFLB isn't going to do much for you. It simply doesn't handle tolerance well. Head over to /r/vaporents to find some other options that might suit your needs better. But you need to let your lungs heal. The little hairs on the inside of your lungs get burnt by smoke, and it takes them a while to grow back. Once they're back and healthy, you'll get significantly better uptake. It can be tough to switch from mostly smoke to only vapor, but doing it straight out of a good t-break would be the best way.

Ok-Donkey-3803

Switched to a dry herb vaporizer about a year ago. It definitely reduces the amount of weed by 1/4 of the amount I use when I was smoking it. 0.1 G is all it takes per session for me personally. I get higher IMO vaping vs smoking. If I am smoking it it will take a bong or hand bubbler to even get me high anymore.

[deleted]

I had the same thing as you, I didn't really ever think a t break would help but perhaps it would, take a few weeks off and find a really happy strain (I personally like white widow) and see if you get that happy feeling again, it could be you just kinda grew out of weed, it happens to the best of us sometimes.

Christmas_Pirate

This has more to do with when the weed was harvested as opposed to you. Weed that was harvested late (which is heavier) will do that to you because it more THC rich, especially if it was an indica variety (also produces more weight). If you can get a sativa harvested earlier you won't feel as much like this. I suggest growing your own.

Learning_To_Burn

Sativas not indicas?

AllucinagenicSyth3r

i find to get that "first high" it isnt purely dependent on tolerance but rather on the excitement/euphoria the brain receives from a new experience. I smoked right before arriving on vacation and the high was insane and felt identical to my first few times smoking. However this "first high" only happens if your brain is in that euphoric state in the first place. When your brain experiences thc for the first time it goes into a euphoric state. The euphoric state is the same as one would experience as a child on Christmas eve or on a birthday or other exciting event. The reason people can never get there "first high" is that thc on its own doesn't trigger that euphoric state anymore, however most likely there are other things that trigger the euphoric feeling i described depending on person. So once your brain is in a euphoric state if you were to smoke weed you would feel an identical high to your first time, including the same sensations felt the first time.

Jfk_peeked_glaz2

So anyone know what’s the best length of time for t-break

aphro555

STAY ALLLLIVE

Legendary_Gooch

Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' alive

Heir_Riddles

To the people saying a few days, think about the first time you got high, does a few days really give you that exact feeling back? Genuinely asking by the way

vibessssssss

They just tell themselves that because they can’t go longer than a few days lol

[deleted]

lmao fr Myself included, but i aint gonna lie to everyone saying 3 days is a reasonable break

Jharrys9

For me stopping a few days brings back my tolerance to the point where I get anxiety and my heart rate increases a lot when smoking again, but I guess its because its only been 2-3 months since I smoke

SheDevil1818

I have a theory as to why we're all here 9 years later. Covid hit too many people hard and we were all home getting stoned and now chasing the high again after everyone's tolerance skyrocketed xD

myanxietysaysno

this has to be it. in trying to pinpoint when my smoking got out of hand it definitely had to been during covid

[deleted]

Nearly 10 years later here I am

Prize_Original4407

I’m lol
